Good food and ambience at Vagabond Great service with a helpful, attentive server Food was good-not great but good- Nice chill spot right I Excélsior. Decent food. I had the baked fish which was a little one note in flavor and a touch overcooked but still good overall! Great cocktails

I was so excited to dine here, but left 2 hours and 45 minutes later with disappoint. My two girlfriends and I arrived right on time for our 7:30pm reservation on a Friday night. Our table wasn't ready for us so we sat at the bar and waited. It was interesting because I noticed a table open the whole time we waited at the bar and when it was finally time to seat us 15 minutes after our reservation time, they sat us at the table that had been open that whole time. After we were seated our server came over a few moments later and took our drink order, off to a great start - or so we thought. We proceeded to wait a while for a drinks to arrive and after 10-15 minutes we received them, although one of our drinks was incorrect. We placed our order to share and then waited again for a long time for our food. They brought complimentary bread, olive oil, and balsamic to the table for us to enjoy which was a nice touch, especially since we had to wait so long for our food. The two pasta dishes were yummy with the noodles being a very crisp al dente. The burrata was delicious with the perfect amount of salt and tomatoes. They could add a few more bread crisps to the dish for the price we're paying though. The pizza unfortunately was our least favorite. There was WAY too much semolina flour to the point of it being too granular and we only ate the toppings off the pizza and ditched the crust. We ended our meal by having to go to the bar and speak to whom I assume was the manager, though I didn't catch a name or title - to ask to order dessert and for our check because our server was again MIA. As soon as I did that and got back to our table, our waitress came back and apologized. She told us she was polishing glasses (insert confusion on our faces). We ordered dessert with her since she said it was lost in translation from the bar. We got our dessert and our check and called it a night. I'd like to give it another try maybe later this summer with the hopes for speedier and more attentive service.

Spiral Pasta in Pesto Sauce YUM. This was a lunch portion but it may be the same at dinner. Very filling.

Lunch was excellent! The Spiral Pasta in pesto sauce was to die for it was so good. The tiny tomatoes were cooked in the pesto sauce. My husband had the Caprese Salad w/Burata on toast he was happy. Good ice tea & our server, Abby, remembered the extra lemons for the refill. Hardly anyone remembers those details. We sat at the window & watching the Excelsior world walk by & it was lovely. They have coffee that, from the looks of all the outdoor tables, is a definite hit.

Such a cute spot in downtown Excelsior showcasing Sicilian kitchen comforts and the most delectable pastries. Favorites: Any of the fresh squeezed juices. I had the grapefruit and loved its bright citrus to balance the wintery outdoors. Also, The cornetto French Toast is out of this world with the "bread" component being a butter croissant prepared just as a traditional French toast and topped with fresh berries and cream. (Just thinking about it is making me drool) Delicious and missing "something": the Sicilian baked omelette pie was savory with burst of freshness from the tomatoes but lacked in flavor. I found myself wanting a little more pecorino to give it the salt it was missing. Overall, service was kind and attentive without being overbearing. The vibe is tranquil with the lush velvet accents and warm design choices.

WOW!!!! If I could rate over 5 stars I would. I came to Vagabondo with no real expectations knowing they are less than a year old and was beyond pleasantly surprised. They have taken the cake as my favorite Italian restaurant in MN for now! We had a reservation but got there a bit early so sat at the bar for drinks. The decor was beautiful and the ambiance was cozy with a fun, upbeat vibe. . Our bar tender was so friendly and they had some fun seasonal drinks we tried. Both the Weapon of Mass Destruction and What You Want x What You Need were delicious. Strong but very well balanced and tasty. Our waitress was absolutely spectacular. She had some solid recommendations and also was able to answer all of the questions we had about the menu. We tried both the spicy Sicilian sausage pizza and the four cheese pizza. The crust was so flavorful and crispy. The spicy sausage was a major hit. The four cheese pizza was also really tasty but a bit less flavorful than the spicy sausage. We also ordered the Gorgonzola gnocchi and the carbonara pastas. This was truly the best gnocchi I've had since being in Italy. The outside was slightly seared but the inside was so soft and fluffy. Every bite was so delicious. The Gorgonzola sauce was nicely balanced by the pine nuts. My husband told me the carbonara was the best pasta he has ever had. I was also really impressed with the portion sizes of both pasta dishes. They were beyond filling and well worth the price in my opinion. Additionally they gave us complimentary bread that's made from a sourdough starter over 100 years old which I found to be amazing. We also tried their mint chocolate chip gelato and it was so refreshing and tasty. It didn't taste artificial whatsoever. This will absolutely be my new go to spot for great Italian food, coffee, pastries, and dessert. I cannot reccomended it enough!

Really good new spot in Excelsior. It's a Sicilian/ Italian place with a great menu with lots of variety. And a good cocktail program too. We tried their old fashioned cocktail, very well made. Lots of wine to choose from at reasonable prices. We had two starters, the calamari and the mussels. The calamari was terrific, spicy and perfectly prepared. The mussels were a complete miss, tasted like tomato soup, very bland. We ordered the whole baked fish which was excellent. It comes in a sizzling hot cast iron skillet. Also had the carbonara which was so good. Their house made pasta is a star. Service is good here and the space is pleasant. We had dinner on the main level which has a view of the kitchen.

Vagabondo was beyond delicious for dinner last night Starting off with a bourbon cocktail, and finished with a mouth-watering spicy Sicilian pizza. The entire place smells like freshly made pasta; it'll have you hungry before you even sit down! The service was very friendly and prompt. If you are lucky, you'll be seated downstairs!

Such a cute new restaurant! I got the baked fish and loved it, it was cooked perfectly and had so much flavor. I also really enjoyed the wine that i ordered. The service was friendly as well. The only downside was that my friend asked for her steak cooked a certain way but the kitchen didn't listen.

bon appétit! vagabondo exceeded every expectation. Our cocktails (unpictured) were spot-on, and even after a hearty spread I never felt too full to keep going. Some of the best rigatoni bolognese I've had -- perfectly balanced meat sauce that hits just right. And the spicy Sicilian sausage pizza was out of this world......fluffy, flavorful, and made with tomatoes straight from Italy. just wwwwoooowww. They are definitely onto something here and I'm excited for more. A little on the pricier side, but honestly worth every bite. I can already see why there's buzz building!!!! keep it up excelsior -- lovin' these new spots!

Yum! Hustle on over to excelsior and experience David and Lori Fhima's new restaurant. Italian. Great rigatoni. Amazing wood fried pizza. Gelato. Yummy fish dish. Good drinks and gelato. And an atmosphere that is perfect for date night, casual meal or a private work event. Become a regular.

This is a coffee hour post: Vagabondo opens at 8 a.m. for coffee drinks and pastries (breakfast coming soon). It was a lovely August morning so I ordered a cappuccino and almond croissant for a little outdoor morning coffee. The cappuccino was delicious--soft with a nice froth. They recommended whole milk for the proper froth, so I went with it. At $5.75 for a grande I thought it was a bargain! I was less excited by the croissant. It was served icebox cold and wasn't flaky, which gave the impression it wasn't freshly made, which for the price I would expect. I will wait for their breakfast menu for breakfast foods, but the lovely space and friendly staff more than made up for it. It will be a frequent stop for my coffee---and now I am ready to try dinner!

Loved this hip new spot. We sat in the basement and felt like we were back in Europe. Very cool vibe and menu. Service was pretty slow, we waited for nearly 30 minutes for our bread, but the food was amazing. Chalking up the poor service to it still being new. A must try new place!

Love that some solid new spots have landed in Excelsior! Vagabondo seemed like an awesome concept - Sicilian flavors and a very cool vibe. We've been there for coffee in the morning and dinner in the evening! Both experiences were great! Morning coffee - this is the spot to be. It's chill and the environment is so beautiful, how could you not enjoy it? Drinks were fantastic and the croissants - oh my!! SO GOOD. Flaky, buttery... the chocolate one was warm and gooey. They were so good I went back and tried an almond croissant as well. Again, nailed it on the head! They will start serving more breakfast-y foods but I'd be back daily for those croissants! We had them on the back patio as well, and it's a fantastic little pocket to enjoy your drinks. Dinner! Loved the vibes, with the exception of the strange screen display in the basement? It didn't bother me too much, but it was distracting sometimes! I can see where some people would not like it at all. The drinks were great, and the food was good. I will be honest, nothing really blew my mind, but a good solid dinner. To the point where I realized I need to go back and try more, bc I might be missing out on the really incredible stuff. We had the burrata, which I feel like can never miss! Then the spicy sausage pizza which looked amazing in theory but when it arrived it just had so much stuff on it that it sort of overpowered the fantastic crust and the individual flavors. Didn't love it, but didn't hate it. Then we had the gnocchi. It had a Gorgonzola and pine nut sauce and I will say, this was my favorite dish of the night! Ironically though, the gnocchi was not what I expected. Usually gnocchi is pillowy and soft and perfectly chewy, but these seemed to be pan fried (there was some crunch) and more dense. But somehow it worked and the sauce was *chefs kiss*! Overall, I liked it and want to get back to try more! It's a fun date night spot or a place to grab drinks with friends at the bar.

Let me back up though, we started with an order of cheesy garlic bread donuts. What could be wrong with that combination? They arrived and were the size of golf balls. So garlicky, so cheesy, so yummy! I will admit, it was a rather long wait for the pizza and I was starting to feel a little hangry but when it arrived, it was worth every minute of the wait. So delicious and filling . One piece was all any of us could eat. Was just as wonderful the second day. The inside of this place is charming. An old Mario video game kept our 7 year old entertained. There were gnats, yes, but it wasn't bad. But it did strike me that we were warned, but then no mention was made about what to do if the plague descended. Not a good start to the evening. We waited maybe 15 minutes until water arrived, at which point the server said he'd be back to take drink orders. Another 15 minutes later we ordered drinks. We saw them 20 minutes later and ordered then. First round of food arrived 20 minutes after that (arancini, quite good -- the highlight of the meal). But then it was a 40 minute wait until the second round of food came. By this point we were starving. There is simply no reason to have to wait that long for small plates. The same overly familiar server thanked us for our patience, said that he checked on the order assuming it got lost but then was informed that no, it's just slow. I said that, yes, we had been waiting long and that we were getting quite hungry. He assured us our mains would not be that long and then added "Yes, this has been the shift from hell." The mains did arrive more promptly, and they were... fine. The pasta was overcooked by a fair degree, and sauces were of a quality that any decent amateur home cook could make themselves. The pizza had an excellent crust. But when you're paying this much for a meal, you want more than a good pizza pie. Server arrived later saying that to apologize for the wait, desserts would be comped, but then... we waited so long to put in a dessert order we just asked for our check. So: incredibly slow. Service that was overly familiar to the point of reminding us that we were having a terrible time. And then no adequate compensation was made for the fact that we were having an awful time ON MY HUSBAND'S BIRTHDAY, which I had noted when I made the reservation. So, diners beware.

The girl dinner - on Sundays-Thursdays only after 8pm - consisted of a mini Caesar salad, vodka pasta, rosemary fries, and a Hugo spritz. Delish! The portions were about what you'd expect for a deal like this so you know we had to top it off with some dessert. The sticky toffee cake and tiramisu were group favorites! As always, the food is fantastic and the service was good. Parking is about what you'd expect in downtown Minneapolis (paid street or paid lots) but they do have a small parking lot in the back and if you're lucky you may get a spot.

The service is always great and they have been so creative with fun drinks and menu items like mimosa and espresso martini towers and girl dinners. They have ample indoor, bar and patio seating for whatever your heart is feeling. We always always always get a breakfast pizza for the table. This is a MUST. I do miss that they don't give out an appetizer mini donut to start but glad to see they remained on the menu. I ordered a mimosa tower to share and some friends had coffees and a the screw up which were l tasty. The towers are so cute and fun. Some items we ordered and loved were the Florentine omelette (the fontina hash browns were the star), the wood fired pancake (wow one of best I've had), and the piadina which was the perfect amount of spice. Always a staple spot and never misses!

I got the Spaghetti Al Limone with shrimp and it was so tasty. It had an amazing balance of citrus that didn't overpower the rest of the plate. We also sat outside and it was lovely. Otherwise, there is street parking nearby, especially as you get into the residential areas. They are a walk-in only restaurant, and if you're going during dinner hours, there is usually a wait. You can a text when it is your turn to be seated, and you are able to wander the neighborhood during the wait. It is close to Lake Harriet, so if you're looking for a way to kill time, you can walk towards the lake and sit on one of the benches! Once you're at Broder's, you're in for a treat! It is a sit-down restaurant that feels on the nicer end of casual. It'd be a good date night spot, but also is good for gathering with friends and family. They have plenty of good options, including some dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free items on their menu which is clearly labeled. The service is always friendly, and they're always attentive, even when it gets busy! They start you off with some free breads, and there is olive oil at the table which you can use with the bread. They have a good selection of wines, and some beer and non alcoholic beverages. If you like a sweet wine that tastes mostly like juice, I highly recommend their moscato d'asti! As for their food, they have so many good pastas, you can't really go wrong. They are able to accommodate some modifications! I think in the past, I've subbed for another pasta shape. I recently also ordered the Tagliarini di Locanda di Lupo without Proscuitto to be vegetarian-friendly! It was very cheesy and creamy, and truffle-forward, as expected! I had their Spaghetti Al Limone, which was nice and buttery and still felt light and fresh with the basil and lemon. I've been to Broder's several times throughout the years, and I enjoy it every time! I would recommend stopping!

What a nice time. Despite the size of our group, the evening was handled very well. We had two very attentive servers who did a fabulous job keeping up with drinks, food, and all the little things that come with a large family gathering. They were friendly, organized, and never made us feel rushed. My usual order is the Black Fettuccine with Lobster, which I highly recommend, but this time I changed it up and ordered the Combo Lasagna and Chicken Parmesan. It was excellent. As always, the bread with olive oil, parmesan, and fresh cracked pepper was awesome. You have to discipline yourself to stop eating so much warm bread that you don't fill up before your meal comes. For appetizers, we shared three Bruschetta orders, the Bacon-Wrapped Dates, and the Calamari Fritti. Everything was very good and perfect for a larger group to share. The overall experience is what keeps us coming back. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable, they have a great patio during the summer months, the food is always consistent, and the service is typically very good. It's just a reliable place for a nice night out or a special family gathering. I wouldn't rate a chain restaurant with 5-stars, but Biaggi's never lets us down. Solid 4-star experience every time we visit.

Our server was very nice to us and our kiddo, and gave good suggestions. We had the cold cuts app, kale salad, a pizza, tiramisu, and a few cocktails to share. All the food we had was great, well balanced flavors with interesting twists, like the fried chicken on pizza and the meaty kale salad. The limoncello spritz was so refreshing and good, but the espresso martini was just alright - I might pass on that next time. The tiramisu was to die for - my favorite in the cities so far! Will definitely be back for that, and to try some pastas, which looked and smelled amazing as they passed our table. The only thing that was a little weird was that we asked for whipped cream on the side for our kiddo, and they brought and charged us for "butter" which seemed to be some sort of mascarpone or heavy cream/ butter dish topped with salt and olive oil. It was good and the baby liked it, just wasn't what we expected - something to be aware of! The vibe was date-y and upscale, we felt alright having our baby with us, but definitely felt a bit out of place the few times she was loud. Perhaps on a weekday, it might be easier to bring kids, but even on a Saturday evening we still felt pretty welcome.

We called around 5:30 to see if they'd seat us at 7:15 and they were able to reserve a table for us. I got the daily special which was like a chicken Parmesan but with steak. It wasn't my favorite thing because I was not expecting the steak to be thinly cut and more on the dry side. That could be my bad - I heard steak and was imagining something totally different. But it wasn't still pretty good! The noodle texture was to die for. It was $30. Drinks were delicious too and ranged from $12-$15. The only thing that I didn't love, is that they charge for every little thing. we got the focaccia and asked for olive oil and balsamic. Why was that an extra $2... $1 for olive oil and $1 for balsamic. If we hadn't ordered it, it would have been an $8 large sized muffin of focaccia - which turned into $10. Definitely not worth it. I asked for some extra Parmesan and they charged $2 for pecorino... honestly it just threw off the experience a little. And it came in the tiniest little cup. I understand maybe 50 cents but $2? Especially when we're having five drinks and three entrees between three people, realizing we were paying extra for those items on the check just was not enjoyable. I'd recommend this place to others as a great place for pasta and drinks, but pasta and drinks only. Maybe avoid asking for any thing on the side and I'd skip apps.
