I was visiting family for my birthday and really wanted to get a massage for my birthday. I looked around for different places on Yelp and asking around and ultimately landed on Valere. I have received many one hour massages in the past so today was my first 2 hour massage. I was kinda hesitant because it was more than I am used to spending and you never know if you're going to get your moneys worth when starting with a new massage therapist. Christoper was absolutely amazing and most definitely worth the money. He really listened to me and my needs and even showed me some simple stretches to help. I also really enjoyed being able to select my own aroma therapy. I have never been given that options before. This will definitely be my go to place when I come to visit again. read more

I booked a couples massage as an anniversary/Valentine's Day present for my boyfriend, as a surprise. We had our appointment booked over a month in advance, prepaid. The day before our scheduled appointment, they called to let us know that they would have to cancel our appointment due to staffing issues. Not only did they ruin the surprise by calling my boyfriend instead of me - but they cancelled with such little notice. I was left with essentially 24 hours to try to find a new spa who could fit us in. We weren't able to find anything, (understandable with such short notice). Extremely disappointed, as we had been looking forward to this for weeks. If you're looking for a place to book for a special occasion - I would strongly recommend elsewhere. Bella Mer in Nampa, Spa Urbana, and Organic Origins in Boise are all great alternatives. read more

I was in for a massage at the Velere Salon and Spa for the first time , and had my massage by Marina . I was really pleased with how she did working on my sore areas, and my knots, and the pressure was just right. I would highly recommend her as a professional massage therapist. One the other hand I had horrible experience with front desk , her name is Kate. She didn't know that Marine even worked there as she tried to schedule me with other massage therapists working there . She re scheduled me 3 times . I dont know whats her motives where. I've met Marina on National Guard event and had great experience talking to her about their salon and what they do. It's an amazing place to get amazing relaxing massage with Spa. I wish they had better front desk stuff . Overall check it out , you will love it. read more

I have been seeing Belma for a few months now for a series of Swich facials. These facials are top notch and Belma is an amazing aesthetician who is knowledgeable and very good at what she does. She is kind, funny, a wonderful conversationalist and is always interested in me .... I don't know how she remembers the things we talk about having 100s of clients! Belma asked me the last time I was in if I noticed any difference. I hadn't really noticed at that time but then I thought (if I am to be honest) I haven't felt the need to get any Botox or anything else since I've been getting these facials, which I enjoy so much! It's a 30 minute trek for me to the spa, but I am benefiting so much from the services I receive that I'm now a member. :-) it's a really good deal! I also received a deep tissue massage from Polly. That poor woman! I was all knotted up and she was relentless about helping me feel better. Best massage in my life! read more

Asked for a round shape with white polish and it was splotchy, the shape was uneven, one fell off the next day, and it took 2 hours to do gel overlay. This was not worth $60 + tip. read more

This place is a TREAT. As in TREAT YO SELF kind of place. My wife and I decided we wanted to take a relaxing soak to finish off the holiday weekend. Originally we wanted to go to The Springs but they were closed the day we were available. A quick google search revealed Valere was the place that could fill the need to be submersed in comforting hot tub waters to sooth the the bitter cold away. Although it's a salon and spa, they have rooms that include a hot tub, sauna, shower, and cooling tables all in the same room! When you're cold to your bones from the snow and chill, relaxing in a hot tub and then a sauna is AMAZING. We were also surprised at how affordable it was! We called same day to see if they had any availability and they had several openings. The facility was clean and the staff friendly. We signed a few forms, were offered some product samples, and then led away to enjoy the hot soak. Be sure to check this place out next time you're in the mood for a relaxing time! read more

New in town, they got good reviews and added plus they offer a groupon. Receptionist said ok for the groupon and said my total would be $21. I showed her my receipt and I paid $29!!! Stupid me didn't ask about the difference and she didn't offer any explanation. Sabre was friendly and we talked about what I was looking for in my haircut. The wash and head massage was great! The cutting portion was done in like 2 minutes. Hadn't cut my hair in10 months and guess she cut the ends and did cut some layers in the back. read more

First off, I must say that everyone was very friendly. The spa itself was nice and clean. I was disappointed in the quality of the pedicure. My mom and I both came in for pedicures. Although we were early the pedicure started 5 minutes late, not a big deal. It was supposed to be 45 minutes to an hour, and it ended up being about 40 minutes. My mom's toes looked good at the end, but mine were pretty sloppy. The massage chair my mom sat in was so loud it was not very relaxing, so she turned it off. My chair was ok. They asked if we wanted them to clip our toenails and we told them it was up to them. They chose not to clip them, and that was fine. I did think that they would still file them down. They did not file the edge of our toenails. They only filed the bottoms of the feet and calluses. They only pushed back the cuticles on some of our toes. my polish was red and taking a bit to remove. It seemed like she got frustrated by how long it was taking to remove the polish and gave up. She did not remove (all) the Polish that I currently had on my toes. They just painted over it. The foot massage was very short yet nice, and there was no leg massage. My mom's toes looked pretty at the end. My toes were clumpy thick fingernail polish. It was uneven and I could see where the second coat did not get painted all the way and there was different layers to my fingernail polish. They didn't clean up the fingernail polish they got on my skin. Then they had us get up immediately after they finished painting our toes. Some of the cotton got stuck in the polish when she removed it, and by the time I paid my toes were all scuffed up from walking around with wet toe nail polish. I also had to finish washing off the sugar scrub from my legs when I got home. Although pedicures always feel good, I was not happy with the end results. I would not recommend this place for pedicures. Maybe other types of services would be okay. The one thing that was exceptional was the friendliness. read more

My husband got me a spa day here. Hot tub, massage, facial, nails, and blow out. The hot tub was nice but I never got my 5 minute warning before my massage. But luckily I was out and kinda just sitting there waiting because I didn't know what I was supposed to do next. The massage was very relaxing and definitely what I needed postpartum. She was very nice and informative about my areas of pain. After the massage I was just as confused and apparently so was everyone else. She took me to the desk and the girls were trying to get me to pay for all the services I hadn't even done yet. Made me feel like I was being kicked out before I was done. Luckily the girl doing my facial knew what was going on and informed them I wasn't done and she took me back. She was so sweet and made me feel relaxed again (I've never done this before so it was very awkward and uncomfortable for me) then on to my nails. Which they were ok. They were pretty but they only lasted a day before they lifted and came off. My blow out was ok too. Fancy wording for wash and dry. Overall I would do the hot tub, massage and facial again ...but the rest was just ok. read more

I really like this day spa and salon...this is my second time here. Today, I surprised my signif with a spa day that included a 30 min spa/hot tub soak, 90 min deep tissue couples massage, and a pedicure! CAN YOU SAY HEAVEN!!!! The sauna soak rooms are clean and they make you shower before and after the soak, which I appreciate. We had Shawn and Glen for the massages, and my deep tissue with Glen was GREAT!! He was able to hold firm pressure throughout the duration of the massage, and he had great instincts as to where my problem areas were. I was actually surprised to find that quality of massage therapists at a spa...so that was awesome! The pedicures were also amazing...massage chairs, and a sugar scrub...how can you go wrong?!?!?!? We had about a 15 minute wait in between our massages and pedicures. The staff was amazing, giving us fresh tea or water. The makeup arist offered a makeup session for my wife at no charge. And they gave me a complimentary hand massage!!! NOW THAT'S SERVICE!! I love when customer service goes above and beyond!! The reason for 4 stars is only that the building needs updated...the atmosphere is dated, but the nice paint colors help a little (better than the old dark wood). A renovation is needed at some point, but it shouldn't stop you from stopping in...YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!! read more

I usually don't leave Yelp reviews because I feel like you really have had to have the worst experience of your life to go out of your way... but here we are. I went to Valère spa yesterday to get a brazilian wax while visiting Boise, I had actually been here once before for a massage a year ago but hadn't put two and two together (the massage was underwhelming to say the least). There's only one woman here that does the waxing, I believe her name is Brittany -- I'm sorry Brittany to be throwing you under the bust like this -- but it was by far the worst waxing experience I have ever had. Already a super unpleasant task to have to do, but this was another level of pain. I told her the wax was too hot, she didn't change the temperature, I continued to wince at the heat and she said "I think you're psyching yourself out". K. I left, didn't think much of it other than I won't be returning. This morning I woke up to black and blue bruises and burns all over the area. Not even like a casual bruising because I was tensing my muscles, but full on black, terrifying bruise. It's unacceptable for this establishment to think this is okay, and I hope they re-evaluate before they move forward giving any further waxes. Valére has you sign a waver before you get waxed basically saying reactions to the waxing process aren't they're fault, however I believe physical bruising and burning very much is. read more

Had nail service and provider was not vaxed or masked. In light that it is a very physically close environment I assumed I was safe. NOT. I asked her if she was vaxed half way thru service. She was not, had no mask on so in essence no protocol. I canceled future services I planned and told the clerk why. The manager was apparently standing there as well and had no apologies and let her staff in a position of awkwardness. Poor guidelines, poor management. 2 stars because the provider was nice and had apparently had no guidance from management. read more

My favorite place in Boise! I moved here a few years ago and didn't know where to go for facial waxing. I lucked out by trying Valere and have never looked back! What started as a simple eyebrow wax, quickly turned into a place where I have monthly memberships for both facials and massages! I am not a membership person, but they have great deals and the staff is worth it. Belma is the sweetest esthetician who takes the time to ensure quality results. I have broken capillaries on my checks, and she's gentle, yet ensures results! Marina is by far the best massage therapist I have ever had (hence the membership.) I always thought I needed deep tissue massages to relieve tension, but her Swedish massages are curated for the individual, and provide amazing results. I've also had Chelsea teach me about Botox, as she knew I was a beginner and started slow to ensure I had safe and beautiful results. I've always enjoyed all of the front desk associates, and Danika specifically takes the time to explain services, prices, specials, and available appointments (they book up quick!) Carmin was so professional, kind, and very knowledgeable about the body. She took her time in the spots I expressed held the most tension and was perfect at delivering my desired pressure. Hello- My boyfriend and I came in yesterday for a couples massage for his birthday. We have both received professional massages numerous times and had monthly memberships to various places. And we both, were blown away by our masseuse(s). They were both attentive and really got down to the problem areas. I think we both enjoyed the time they took getting those painful knots out as well, in the past massage therapists just glided over them or simply aggravated them. Don't bother, there's plenty of other better and competitively priced spas in the area. The facial was nice. The pedicure was hugely disappointing and I would've been better off going into one of the walk-in places along State Street. I paid for the spa pedicure, it started 40 minutes late and lasted 35 minutes instead of an hour. The woman at the front desk gave me a sarcastic "thanks for coming in, bye." when I told her I don't want a future free visit because there's nothing drawing me back there. read more

Great staff. Kate was working the front when I arrived she was quick to get me a cup of tea which was delicious. I was in my sauna and spa room within minutes of arriving she explained how everything in the room worked and left me to relax. Lydia did my facial she did a great job. The only reason I don't give this salon 1 star is because the front desk hostess and my nail technician were very personable and inviting. Their special brewed tea was particularly comforting on a cold fall evening. The price and pedicure results, on the other hand, leave a lot to be desired. I received a gift card for $25 when the salon was still called Serenity Salon and Retreat earlier this year. At that time, a 60 minute pedicure was $35. By the time I made an appointment in November, the salon had changed its name and the prices had increased substantially. $35 would now get me a 30 minute "express" pedicure. Personally, I know of at least 3 other salons in town that charge $35 for a 60 minute pedicure with all the bells and whistles. At Valere, for $35 you get a quick foot soak, some surface smoothing, polish removal, and new polish applied. The drying time was almost non-existent and they depend on quick dry products to get you out the door. Again, the personnel were very nice, but the experience was not what I consider even average and the polish on two of my toes flaked off less than a week after my pedicure. This review is for the deep tissue massage I received from Audrey. It was fantastic. I am a massage therapist myself, and have been worked on by many practitioners. This was one of the very best! She has a great touch, a thorough knowledge of anatomy, and a good table side manner. Go here it is amazing! I took my best friend here for a birthday present and it was the most amazing day. The receptionist was so friendly and walked us through everything (how do use the hot tub and everything about the salon and spa) The room was clean and so pretty. Then we went and had massages. One of the best massages I've ever had. I had Sean and he took great care of me made sure I knew how to stretch out my arms and shoulders after. She had Sara and loved it... My sister and I scheduled massages this past Saturday that started with a 30 min use of the sauna and hot tub. There was hair in the drain of the mandatory shower, only a portion of the jets in the hot tub were functional and the tub was low on water so the jets that did work weren't completely submerged and thus couldn't be turned on for any length of time. The sauna was great, so I was hopeful that perhaps our experience would improve with the massage, but that was not the case. This was by far the WORST massage I have ever experienced (I typically get massages at least once every two months). The therapist's approach made me question if she was even licensed. She had odd techniques and an extremely light touch that only slightly improved after requesting increased pressure at least four times. She spent more time walking away from the table for unknown reasons and skipping around on my back than she did actually working out a huge knot I pointed out prior to the massage. I was so frustrated that I left the experience more tense than when I walked in. At checkout, the therapist had up-charged the massage to "deep tissue" which I disputed. The total cost for the experience (two 60 min massages and 30 mins hot tub use) was $200; outrageous for the service received. I called Monday to speak with a manager about my experience and was directed to voicemail; I have not heard back. I would not recommend this spa. read more
