It was my very first time to get a full wax and Susan did a great job talking to me and making me feel comfortable. To be honest, it HURT LIKE HXXX...so I am warning you, take your aspirin or Advil beforehand, and be ready for it. The entire experience only lasts less than 15 minutes and Susan is a total professional. Tip: Her small little office is in "Salon Plaza" - it's at the very end (on the left, if you looking at the movie theatre, with a lot of other small, rented hair and nail salons.) She literally canceled my appointment after I drove 45 minutes to get there on time and get my appointment done. Big no! Owner is a thief. I was gifted a Groupon, but she said I can not use it but she would refund me by talking with her Groupon manager. (I had missed the date to cancel the groupon from my side) Several times back and forth but never returned my money and she sent me a very rude message after 4 months of the incident that she would not be helping. I found Valencia Esthetic through a groupon deal for a $17 Brazilian (by far the best deal you will find in northern va/DC areas). I dropped in hoping to make a walk-in appointment and Susan kindly accepted. She did miss a few spots but overall did a good job. Although the groupon was only for first time customers, her usual rate of $35 is still one of the best deals in the area. Edit: the results only lasted about 1.5 weeks whereas other places I have gone have lasted up to 3 or 4 weeks. I would give it zero because I made an appt with them for a wax through text cause they never pick up their phone. They said they were available the next day at 10:30 so I came but when I got lost I called their number (didn't answer) and I found it myself but it was locked and I knocked and waited but no one came out. Quickest, most efficient waxing I've ever had in my life. Seriously, with a Groupon I paid about $17.00 after a 20 percent discount. So, at the very least, I could have said I got the service for dirt cheap. Fortunately though, the space Susan occupies is clean and she is very friendly and professional. I didn't realize that Saloon Plaza at Worldgate center was actually a house for boutique salon/spa services. I actually got lost looking for the room because there are so many office spaces inside the plaza. If you're looking for beauty treatments, this is where a variety of services can be found. In any case, Valencia occupies the space of a triage room. You pretty much find the door, knock, walk in, introduce yourself and pull your pants down. 15 minutes later, you can be on your way to finding a bite to eat. One thing I didn't appreciate was that the bed was a little wobbly. I don't have to best equilibrium, so I was mildly afraid the bed was going to collapse underneath....if you can't tell, I survived, so I guess it's not that serious. It is uncomfortable dealing with the owner. Apparently I have been to her once before. She kept it on record and when I attempted to use a Groupon I was denied service altogether rather than negotiate or inform me of cost of service which had I felt comfortable I would have likely paid it and went. My first time getting a wax was done here. Susan made my experience very easy. I thought it would be super awkward and uncomfortable but she made it pleasant. She helped distract me to ease the pain and also conversation with me and gave me tips without being pushy to help my concerns and needs. The wax was top end for sure. They are both very good but one is further than I would like to travel and the other is very pricey. I am glad to say that I found Valencia. I came across her shop because of her Groupon deal. She had good reviews and I am glad to say that I can add to it. She is quick and very personable. She has a cute little suite in Salon Plaza at Worldgate. Dreadful place. I arrived early and knocked on the door. A voice asked me to wait few minutes. I sat in the waiting room for over 1/2 hour. No one offered me a coffee. I didn't realize just how amazingly talented Susan is until I went to another salon for waxing. Susan did the whole job in 10 relatively pain-free minutes. The only awkward moment was when I arrived to find the door to her suite locked. I noticed a little waiting area at the building entrance so thought maybe I should wait there. I watched her door and no-one came or went, so I assumed she was running late with a client. 15 mins after my appointment time, a woman came in, walked down the hall, knocked on her door, and was let in. I had no idea I was supposed to knock! I thought she would let me know when she was ready like my massage therapist does. I quickly went and knocked on the door and explained I had been waiting.
