Today I got earlier before 8AM in case I am the first call. By 3PM, I am still waiting. I got a call from the technician that he will arrive in 20 mins., so much for the 30 minutes advance call. Joel Hernandez finally arrived at 3:45Pm. He was very polite and pleasant and I really liked the job he did. He was thorough and explained everything to me. My problem is not with Joel but with GAC. The 8 hour window is ridiculous, inconvenient, and frustrating. I have been a customer since 2013. Bring back the 4 hour window so I am not restricted to be within 30 minutes from my house if I want to do some errands. Otherwise I have to look elsewhere for my HVAC and electrical needs.

We used the builder's plumbing company who installed it to perform replacement. 2 years later, the same problem occurred again and we decided to try someone new - Michael and Son. What a joke! Their technician came out and started to push for tank replacement or flushing service with extension tank replacement for almost $1K. This figure included the diagnosis fee of $174. I knew something was off so I paid him the $174 and sent him off. Before his left, he asked me to open my phone, click on the link he sent, STARED at me and my phone to give him a good review. I gave him a 5 and deleted the review after his departure. Then I started to look for a new company and examined their online reviews more carefully this time. I was a little skeptical about Potomac HVAC's reviews originally because it had so many 5 star reviews which is hard for me to believe. Well, I stand corrected. Mike showed up within 2 hours and I jumped into discussing system replacement cost. He was honest, friendly, respectful, and professional. He said he liked to make money but it wouldn't be the best choice. He adjusted the mixing valve FOR FREE!!!!!!! Michael and Son charged me $174 for diagnosis and did nothing. What a scam! Just like many reviews you see here. I can confirm Mike deserves a 5 star rating. I would have given him 6 star if I can.......

There was an initial mixup about the appointment time, but that was soon sorted, and Saul contacted me prior to his arrival and arrived on time. Quickly getting to work, he identified the problem with our gas insert. He was able to fix the immediate problem to return it to working order and then explained what was happening and why. They said there was a $49 assessment fee to come out and look at my HVAC. (See attached screenshot of Yelp chat). When they got there, they assured me they could take care of the problem and would provide a quote. The visit ended with them charging me $219 somehow. I disputed the additional $170 with my credit card company because this is FRAUD. Even by their own invoice, they did nothing to earn anything past the $49 assessment fee and even that they don't deserve. They NEVER provided me with a written quote. Because I live in a condo building, they had someone call me back and say I would need to pay $10-15k to rent a crane so they could replace my HVAC system and that didn't include any materials, labor etc. Just the crane. They also said they would have to cut through my upstairs neighbor's unit for the repair and that I would be responsible for all of the costs of demolition and restoration. At the time, I was in a different state taking care of an extremely sick family member and when I asked clarifying questions about how they were going to do the HVAC replacement they just kept throwing out bigger and bigger numbers until I was deeply distressed. $10-15k for a crane, another $7k to run some tests on the lines that run to and from the HVAC system, an overall ludicrous quote of $40k--to replace an HVAC system!! They could've just said they don't want the job. They could've even refrained from following up. Instead they needlessly put me in distress and unjustly tried to take $219 from me while providing NOTHING in exchange. I ended up going with a different company who didn't try to take advantage of a young homeowner and didn't need to get a crane. Please don't go with this lazy, crooked company. Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves. P.S. I also had to ask for a time frame (see other screenshot). They said 9-11. Then I got a call at 7 am that day saying someone was on their way. I was not at all prepared and told them they had to come later.

His price was better than all the bigger HVAC companies and he does the installation himself. I am really happy with his service and now I have 2 thermostats to control the temperature upstairs and downstairs.
