It's been some years since I've been to Valentino's. But I went today with my brother. We got breakfast and it was nice. First, I was really happy to get clean glasses of water. I was nervous that the empty ones on the table were for us to use. They were way too dusty for that. I'm trying to keep it light so I had oatmeal, turkey sausage, and coffee. My brother had the Rudolph platter. Both meals were good. Nothing overly exciting but tasty. I would definitely go back. 3 stars because I do think it's a little over priced. read more

Usually order at least two or three times per week, with colleagues for lunch (at least 5-7 orders at a time). Today, the staff seemed to be overworked, unpleasant, but nicer to the 'other' customers. Service-The staff was courteous and friendly. Our server was very attentive and with the exception of taking a while to get a desert that was already made, his service was great. Food-Lump Crab Mac and Cheese for $14.49 was really effin good, according to my husband and would be even better if they added more crab. 1/2 lb Snow Crab for $15.49 was filling and seasoned well as well as juicy. The Super Super Cheese Steak Sub for $10.49 had great flavors and had the perfect amount of cheesiness. The beef tasted fresh as well. I ordered the Fried Chicken Basket for 12.99. It came with fries, coleslaw and breadsticks and, supposedly, half a chicken cut into a breast, wing, thigh, and leg. As you can see from the pictures, the pieces were pretty small. Aside from that, I love the food. The chicken was moist and everything was well seasoned. We also had two deserts, a Red Velvet Cheesecake and a Strawberry Cheesecake for $5.79 both were full of creamy awesomeness. I haven't been to Valentino's in YEARS, but recently moved about 5 minutes away from the restaurant. Moment of transparency, I had been on the fence about going back to Valentino's after years due to mixed reviews and what seemed to be inconsistency in their food. Nonetheless, the other evening I received a surprise carryout order from here and can I say it was amazing! He ordered the Blue Crab Ravioli for me. It was paired with a Caesar salad and breadsticks. The salad was perfectly dressed and the breadsticks were fluffy and warm like they were fresh out the oven. The ravioli was piping hot and topped with jumbo lump pieces of crab meat. The sauce was a perfectly homemade silky Rosé sauce. The ravioli even seemed like it was made by hand and had the perfect bite. Okay, I digress needless to say, I'm sold on Valentino's again and will be frequenting this establishment more often-hoping they will consistently receive 5 star ratings from me. Cheers! read more

We got the Honey Old Bay Wings, The meatballs, and the Ricotta Fried Ravioli. All were on the appetizer menu. In addition, since it was Happy Hour ($6 for all $8 drinks), the gentleman ordered a Dirty Martini. Everything was absolutely divine! I would recommend the Honey Old Bay wings to any and everyone. As I am from the south, I've never really had the old bay and honey combination. Also, the meatballs were beef and , what I'm assuming", veal. Either way, very moist and fresh mozzarella cheese was on it. Finally, the ravioli was good as well. I don't think I will order it fried in the future. It just was a bit much. I'm giving one star because I cannot give zero. I went there this morning for a first date. The food was average but the server was nice. The issue came when we went back to the parking lot at the side of the building. Lo and behold his car had been towed. I move my car to a metered spot in front of the pharmacy up the street. The lady at the counter calls Frankford towing and confirms that the car was towed. They said "sorry you'll have to pick it up Monday". Now, he lives in Hyattsville and works in DC. I called Frankford and they said we can get it today. Our argument was nowhere does it say that you have a time limit on how long you can park in their lot which is clearly marked as parking for the restaurant. We ask to speak to a manager. Nick, who is apparently related to the owners, goes in the back and calls the police. They come in and he doesn't talk to them. I took the cop aside and start to explain the situation and two more cops show up. They call Frankford towing and they said that nick called them to tow my date's car and that is a civil matter and they won't release the car. A man in line goes outside to wait on his takeout order and find a tow truck hooking up his car. He shows them his receipt and they unhook his car. Then the manager shows up. She talks to nick in what I assume is Italian. She calls Frankford towing and hands the phone to the cops. She then walks away. The cops talked to each other and nick and then tell us that while they are sorry about the inconvenience, there is nothing they can do and the manager wants us to leave. If we don't leave then we are trespassing. I had to pay $250 dollars cash get the car back. I will be contacting BBB and DLLR to file complaints. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

My family and I have been patrons of Valentinos for over a decade, for the past two years - every Sunday for brunch. The wait staff has always been friendly and courteous. The food has always been consistent- not great but consistent. Today, was another matter entirely. My 86 year old grandfather always requests dark toast. Every Sunday, his food comes late because they always bring him blonde toast and it has to be returned. You would think that after two years with the same wait staff that it would be a given to toast his bread twice. Despite weak coffee and under cooked sausage, we continue to patronize because my grandaddy likes routine. Today, not only did he have to wait 15 mins after my breakfast was served to recieve his, when it was time to pay the bill, his $10 discount (rewards program) was not applied, even though he asked the waitress to note it. When he asked the assistant manager to apply his discount, she told him that it was too late and that he would have to use it next time. He then asks her what if there is no next time? Instead of performing service recovery measures. She proceeds to rudely dismiss him. I am following up directly with management, but find it unacceptable for that type of behavior with any patron, but especially a loyal and elderly patron. On average we have a 4 -8 person party at this restaurant on a weekly basis. You would think it would be smart business to treat us well and with respect. Next Sunday, we will be having breakfast at Broadway Diner on Eastern Ave. The food is way better and grandaddy can eat his meal when everyone else is eating theirs. read more

Well, I drive from Washington DC at least two a week to eat Val. They have it set up nice, have floor signs of 6ft apart and they are always very nice no matter what time of the day. I found this spot on the humble just driving in Baltimore very late because I couldn't sleep and seen they was open and it was very crowded. Well, this was a pleasant surprise! Not only was the service impeccable and super friendly, the food was great! I definitely wouldn't consider this place a diner, as it's above that in quality. However, given their massive menu ranging from breakfast foods to subs to seafood and Italian specials, it fits into the category of excessive choices that diners typically provide. As I mentioned, their food range is wide. But what you usually find with too many options is too many flaws. This isn't the case, that's for sure! My S.O. and I decided to come here on a whim one night. He got the Belgian waffle with a decent portion of beautifully fresh strawberries and delicious whipped cream. The bacon was cooked to order and savory. It was honestly the best Belgian waffle I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Insanely fluffy with a crunchy outside. Perfect. I, however, was feeling the Penne Carbonara. The light cheese sauce was perfectly balanced with the juicy chunks of bacon and sauteed mushrooms. The parmesan and garlic bread sticks and marinara sauce (free after 11pm apparently) as well as the caesar salad beforehand (included) was a great start to this delicious meal as well. I declined and was met with nastiness from our server and then nastiness from the manager. The manager escalated the situation by telling me that I wasn't listening to her. The current owner stood behind them and patronized me. When I opened my takeaway wings at home, I found them to be burned. The restaurant was unusually empty, especially for a holiday. I now see why. I have been to Valentino's 3x. I think it has pretty good food. The customer services is great. They make you feel very welcomed. I have had their crab dip and stuffed shells with the alfredo sauce. I liked them both a lot. There is no consistency to the bread sticks. One time they are warm and soft and the next time hard and cold. I don't drink often and I ordered a strawberry daquiri. The first 2 times it was great and the 3rd......well it was like drinking straight rum LOL I could tell the "waiter" doesn't normally wait tables and he was the one who had to make it. I LOVE this place. They are a little pricey but the food is always amazing. Their customer service is great. Even when I order delivery at work, the guys that come are always incredibly sweet and understanding. I recently had to order food after the cheap, gross food I bought failed to do the trick. I was laughing with the young lady about it over the phone. When my food arrived, they threw in a 7 dollar milkshake for free to cheer me up. The shrimp Caesar salad is my favorite. It is light and fulfilling. All their appetizers are yummy, especially the calamari and cheese dip. Their milkshakes are old fashioned and perfect. The chocolate cake is sublime. Salad dressings are Ranch, French, Honey Mustard, Italian Vinigerrette and they give you a big bowl of dressing instead of dribbles and dribbles.They do have a happy hour from 4-7. Their desserts are to die for. Strawberry shortcake, Cinnabon cake, multiple cheesecake flavors, German chocolate cake! Tip is included on all bills whether you are by yourself or with a party of fifteen. This doesn't really bother me. All in all you can't go wrong at Valentino's! read more

I have had better and I have had worse. It probably needed more salt believe it or not! The potatoes were part of the platter and they mixed in well with the chipped beef. We were left alone to talk and not hurried along. Our conversation headed in the direction of politics and so we did get a little loud at some times and were not kicked out. Went to Valentino's last night for what I thought would be a nice experience due to past visits. My wife works in the area and had a long day and V's was a few blocks away. We were greeted and seated rapidly, From that point, it was downhill and very uneven. The waiter must have been new and poorly trained and was unable to answer most of my questions properly. I chose the eggplant parm that seemed fitting for a nice meal and by wife chose the shrimp basket that included fries and slaw. my meal said it included soup of the day, with salad or side-(the way it was written). unfortunately our waiter didn't know but one soup but he did know that either crab soup was $2 more (visibly/verbally up-selling to me) . There were more variations after my coaching and I ended up with an acceptable french onion soup. My wife did not want fries that included (their famous) coleslaw but was told no substitutions-so she aquiesed. the food arrived fairly quickly and my wife's shrimp were pretty good however, the fries were brown (a sign the frying oil was not properly filtered from neglect) and greasy. My wife order tea and drank that before the meal arrived and was told another tea bag would be $2 extra. she said skip the teabag an bring hot water that was forgotten....My egplant arrived with my wife's meal and was a sizable portion however the eggplant over vermicelli was soggy from being precooked but was acceptable. I point up the quality (or lack thereof) due to having work for Marriot's restaurant division. The waiter was generally invissible after dumping the meals and to busy earlier trying to upscale our meals for the $. A "BIG" diissapointment compared to past visits.
