My husband enjoyed his Chicken a la King and what's nice about both meals is that the portions were plentiful enough to get a second meal out of them. I know what I am having for lunch tomorrow. As always, the service is very friendly and attentive, all the way from the one waiter opening the door and greeting us with a warm smile to the woman who kept our water glasses full to the really hunky manager who's boxing up our meals as I type this. I recently moved to this side of Baltimore, and Valentinos is just up the street. I am so glad I found this place! First of all, the staff is fantastic. So friendly! And then the food..OMG the food. So far, every thing I've ordered there has been fantastic. Tonight, I got a crab cake. GET A CRAB CAKE, Y'ALL. So crabby and wonderful. Also, the breadsticks with the marinara sauce they serve? I've eaten there three times now with other people--breakfast, lunch and dinner and have had a so-so experiences each time. Generally I found the food to be overly salty-maybe they are catering to the older crowds-dunno. They do have generous helpings though. I'm against any place that automatically charges a 15% gratuity fee, but maybe they get a lot of cheapskates and Harford Rd Ne'erdowells that don't leave tips. Point is, I will tip graciously (up to 25%) if I have a good server, no matter what the food tastes like, but don't want to be locked into 15% if the service is lacking. Is that fair? The worst food I ever ate. I ordered bc of good reviews I read. I was in for a rude awakening. The food was drenched..drowning in masala white wine gravey. The linguine was floating in the container bc there was so much gravey looked liked diarrhea! The food had No flavor not even salt. The Day before Valentine's Day visit... Pros: The food that I had was quite good. Had the Captain's Cajun Caesar. Really tasty and a solid portion. The coffee was a little sketchy. The first cup was decent but warm. Second cup was hot but a little burnt. The Cream of Crab soup was really good. Took some rice pudding home and it was good as well. Cons: there was an enormous rat that ran through the parking lot to the rear of the restaurant. The menu is incorrect. The Captain's Cajun is priced $17.99 but rang up at $21.99. They matched the menu price but it is, apparently, incorrect. Not a horrible experience, by any means, but not a restaurant I'd make an effort to visit. read more

All the food at this restaurant is good, I haven't had anything that wasn't good. When Im in Baltimore visiting family I hit this place up a few times. The food is always fresh and never disappointing. They have a huge menu and you can order breakfast, lunch or dinner at any time of the day because they are open 24 hours. We live in the neighborhood and really wanted to like this place. However... there is just... too much going on here. The food is ok but a little overpriced. The fancy napkins and servers dressed all fancy (our server was very nice!) juxtaposed with dirty deteriorating booths was a bit jarring. The TV behind us was blaring a veterinary ER show that we had to ask to be turned down. There is an automatic 15% tip added to the bill which seems weird to me.. Food is overrated. I asked if the Mac and cheese was homemade. I guess they consider mixing cooked pasta with a nasty powdery tasting cheese sauce homemade but not in my book. I use to go here when it first open many years ago and it was a small shop. Grill was up front behind the register. George ran the place but the food was good. Usually Valentino's is one of favorites spots to eat at, however I visited yesterday evening & ordered the Seafood Salad Sandwich with fries and Cream of Crab Soup. Once I returned home from picking up my food, my sandwich was warming than my fries. The fries were cold & dry like they had been sitting all day. Great place! Our first visit...the service and food were great. The meatballs were tender and I look bed their tomato sauce.vmy husband had the seafood pasta with lots of shrimp and sausage. Only reason I give this place a 4 stars is because I watched a server who works here not clean up his piss off the toilet seat and floor before I, a customer, used it after him. A black guy, I don't know his name. Other than that, this is hands-down the most professional "diner" I've ever been to. Our server was a female who has a really annoying voice, and weirdly made me ask my fiancé out loud for permission to order a cherry Pepsi, as they don't carry coke products. Her dessert presentation, however, was the most professional -- she said she wanted to "cleanse the palate" which is precisely what fancier places say to their customers. Will definitely return here with my soon-to-be wife. Updated review: the service has gotten much slower. There's no clear management. Bathrooms still look and smell bad. The food is still great, however. The reason why I updated this to 2 instead of 3 stars is because management refused to stop a fight between an overbearing guy and 2 women who were trying to check out. read more

We have been ordering here since they opened at least 24 times a year since we live in the neighborhood. The quality of food has gone way down and not as efficient as they used to be. Our last order was place and my wife went to pick up using my credit card like we have done for years with the same card. This time they refused to take my card since my wife's name was not on the card. Never had a problem for the past several years using this card. My wife paid for using cash instead. Once the food was home the quality was terrible. We will not be going back. I told my wife that if we ever had this refused again to leave the food and go elsewhere since there are many great places near by. Hope this helps someone from our terrible experience. read more

I have been to Valentino's many times over the years only this time impressed to write a review. After a wonderful day at church my sister and I decided to go to my mom's favorite restaurant Valentino's to satisfy the tastes of our 5 member picky group of girlfriends. We were greeted and served promptly, and then a platter of delicious warm soft bread sticks were served up. Were they good or were we hungry? who knows but one of my friends who never asks for more asked for another platter which was promptly served up - warm hot goodness, well what's to not like about warm bread. After a full study of the menu, if they don't serve it, literally it must not be available on earth. Its a diner and they serve alot of food including breakfast. Well all the dishes were delish. I had a chicken pot pie and really - it was enough for 4 people to eat. I will be eating that dish for the next 2 days. But, let me tell you it -It was DELISH! All white mean chicken, it was thick with gravy and veggies. Crust was superb. Wonderful. The pickest member of the group ordered the spinach salad with salmon and she said it was good. She is famous for sending food back especially Salmon. My sister ordered Ceaser salsd with Steak and they brought her a HUGH bowl with a ton of steak, good stuff. The cream of crab soup was delicious and the only hiccup was when another friend ordered the Gyro she said the Tzatziki sauce was alittle bland it just needed alittle salt. Our server was a sweetheart and took great care of us. They do add the gratuity to the bill however it's 24 hour diner and they probably have been stiffed on tips more than once since any old cheapo can walk in off the street. Some people do not realize the tipping principle. We laughed and talked to our hearts delight and left very happy. Very nice experience. I will go back again for certain. read more

My family and I dined hear yesterday in honor of Mothers' Day. My wife specifically chose this venue as she loves Italian cuisine. We had also dined at Valentino's in prior occasions. Each time I order a different meal with a different main course. Well my wife received a free Mimosa for Mothers' Day, and ordered the specialty house breakfast. This time I ordered the Super, Super Cheesesteak Sub and had it made my way. I also ordered cheese fries for my side dish. My wife also loves cheesecakes, so she had one of their specialty chocolate ones to go. We also had our baby their, and they were accommodating as it was his first time dining out in a restaurant. Overall, the food and atmosphere is always excellent. I also love the fact that there is a bar, clean washrooms, excellent service, and that they are open twenty-four hours. read more

This 24 hour restaurant has an enormous menu with every genre present, lots of seating, and busy carry-out business. I find the food ok, but lacking in quality ingredients and flavor. It's a good option for breakfast or a generally satisfying meal if you really don't want to cook. Don't expect fine dining though. The service is quick and attentive. The food at Valentino's is always good. I've had breakfast, spaghetti, subs, seafood - you name it, I've tried it. The service is pretty solid and often times there is a manager floating around asking if you need anything. At my most recent visit however I was really turned off. I was in a party of 2 and the waitress automatically added gratuity to our check. If I hadn't really looked at the check I wouldn't have even noticed it. Then, when she ran our card and came back with the signature slip, there was a line for gratuity and no indication that a 'tip' had already been added to the bill. I personally think this should be illegal, to add a tip without someone knowing in advance and then present a signature slip that does not identify how much tip has already been paid/charged. I would recommend the place overall but make sure to check your bill. read more

Came here because my friend had to have one of their steaks. When I walked in it reminded me of an upscale diner. I wasn't impressed with my food, but all I got was a cheeseburger and french fries. I was impressed with my friends steak though. It was cooked perfectly and so tender. I was also impressed with the mixed drinks (long islands) and these awesome parmesan breadsticks they serve. Great service and food. They have a variety of dishes to choose from. I got a shrimp platter and it was great and breadsticks with marinara was served as soon as we got to my table.
