I went to Valerio's Tropical Bake Shop looking specifically for Señorita bread, and it ended up being way more of an experience than I expected. First off, the place is super cute but also kind of overwhelming in the best way. There are literally walls of bread and pastries everywhere, and so many options that I didn't even know where to start. I went in planning to spend just a few bucks on Señorita bread and somehow walked out $20 deep with a whole box of stuff. I ended up trying turon, a puto sampler, a bunch of different donuts, and of course the Ube Señorita bread. Honestly, everything was so good. Like fresh fresh. The bread was still warm in my hands, which made it even better. The staff didn't really speak much English, but it honestly wasn't an issue at all. They were super patient and helpful, and still managed to explain what everything was so I could try new things. At the end, I just told one of the ladies I had $20 and wanted to try a variety, and she literally put together a whole selection for me. That was probably my favorite part. The line was kind of long, but it makes sense because the food is clearly worth it. If anything, it just reassured me I was in the right place. Overall, if you're even thinking about trying Señorita bread or just want to explore Filipino pastries, this spot is 100 percent worth it. Been coming out here for the past nine years the best part is that they're open at 6 in the morning even on the weekends is the best time with light traffic and business not yet open. The ladies are so superb service has been top notch no complaints and I can smell the freshly bake breads. My favorites are the Spanish bread commonly known as a señorita bread stuffed with buttery breadcrumbs and brown sugar a great breakfast snack goes very well with halo-halo a traditional Filipino dessert then there's a hopia monggo stuffed with mung bean paste, hopia ube both 4 for $5.99 and chicken empanada for a mere $3.25 which had pork and beef but everything else is well stock and organized they even have drinks. Love this place! I come here mainly to satisfy my turon cravings and usually get like 8-10 turon at a time to hit their minimum spend for using credit card instead of cash (cash only below $10 I believe). I love that their turon is the perfect level of sweet, and the crisp on the outside is just *ugh* so good. My favorite part is that the turon actually holds its crisp pretty well, like a few days even, and it also reheats well in the air fryer too! This is helpful since I tend to buy more than I eat in a day haha, so I end up saving them for throughout the week. Prices are fair, and the inside is clean. They have a huge variety of Filipino desserts/pastries on display too, and they tempt me every time. Would definitely recommend if you're craving sweets! read more

This place is always super busy. Every time we stop by there is a long line but it goes by pretty quick. They didn't have the hopias pre packaged and they are quite pricey too. I love visiting Valerio's when I visit my hometown. I was excited to find that they have the same bakery in northern California. These are what I purchased during my recent trip: Ube pan de sal - The bread is perfectly moist and fluffy. It is not too sweet and there is plenty of ube flavor. There are a lot of rolls that come in each bag. Ube bread - Each bread roll is filled with ube paste with just the right ratio of both to ensure a bit of ube with every bite. The paste is not overly sweet, which is what I like about this bread. Hopia ube - Ube paste in a light, flaky pastry. There is definitely more Ube than pastry. Again, like the ube bread, the paste was not overly sweet. They had a ton of other baked goods that I haven't tried yet. That just means I'll be back! The shop is clean and organized. They share a parking lot with Seafood City and several other small shops and restaurants, so parking can be a bit tough during peak times. read more

1 star - Ube crinkle cookies looked good in the display case but as I started chewing it, it tasted like a very undercooked cookie or the pasty filling inside the ube de pan. It was a very rich scary purple color (imagine how much food coloring is in this) yet there was not even a hint of ube flavor. Very disappointing! I've eaten ube crinkle cookies from a Mexican restaurant that tasted 100% better and it tasted like what you'd expect an ube crumble cookie would taste like. 1 star - Cassava cake was just too sweet and lacking cassava/cassava flavor. These bakery items seem to just be full of sugar and food coloring and less of actual ube and cassava. Haven't been here in 7 years. Won't be coming back at all. read more

It was highly recommended by my sister, but was very disappointed in the quality of the buko pie. The bottom crust was raw and the buko was nonexistent. It was just cornstarch, sugar and a little coconut flavor. $12.99 down the drain. The pan de ube was good and reasonably priced. $6.19 for six. Don't be deceived by the size of the large siopao ( the largest I've ever seen!). Mostly dough and the meat filling had a small trace of egg. Overpriced at$12.99 for 4. Freshly baked breads all day. Went it around 4 pm Sunday evening they were still baking fresh bread. It's nice to know even though it was close to closing time. They still have fresh bread being made. Must grab a basket when you enter, because after growing the shelves, you will definitely grab more than 1 thing. Now I get it. I understand why there are lines out the door. Signature item is pan de sal. Dinner rolls. You get the hot out of the oven softness without artificial fillers like the commercial industrialized products. You can get a half order which is 3$ ish. They are soft and not as sweet as kings Hawaiian bread. Bit salty. They come in different variations with pineapple, egg, etc but adding those other extras means the texture changes. There is whole wheat pan de sal and enriched flour pan de sal. They differ in size and texture the empanadas are good; get a single one to try or the come in large packs. If you like kings Hawaiian bread this is a must try; find a freshly baked pack in the morning. Can't duplicate that melt in mouth texture after it cools. The packaging should look puffed up like a balloon. read more

Wooowww. I came here purely for the turon but I do wish that I got more. They have such a wide variety of baked goods at low price points, it's no wonder lines are so long here. Don't be intimidated by the long lines though as it moves extremely fast. It's located in the same plaza as the large Seafood City. The parking lot is huge so that isn't too much of a worry either. In the store, they are only limiting 10 guests at a time but the inside of the store itself is actually pretty small already. My favorites at Valerio's are the ube pandesal and the turon. Once again, everything is extremely affordable. The turon is crisp and sweet and is also filled with jackfruit. The pandesal is light and fluffy as well. It's a very small bakery to go to, but they really serve good bakery items here. My favorites are Pan De Ube and one of the big dinner rolls that look like mushrooms. Hot pan de sal!! Can never go wrong with hot pan de sal. You never leave this place with one or two items. Great pastries! I usually get a few bags of pan de ube for my kids and friends which they always love for a snack. Spanish bread is so good! They've your usual Filipino pastries and desserts. Sometimes we like to pick up some palabok they have. Service is quick and usually, there's always a line but the staff are efficient and get you checked out of there pretty quick. I was so impressed with the Valerio in Daly City that I sought after other Valerios in the Southbay.  But unfortunately for me, the Daly City store turned out to offered better tasting baked goods than the other stores.  Not all stores by the same name are the same. Cheese Balls - Sweet soft bread filled with cream cheese and topped with cheddar cheese streusel.  This was my favorite item from this store. Ube Basket - Bread and ube fillings weaved into layer rolls.  Somehow, the breading here is plain.  I bought this same item from the Daly City store where the bread is sweeting and softer, so much better than the ones from this Milpitas store. Puto Flan - Egg custard on top of flavor rice cake (flavors I got were ube, coconut, pandan).  It was good, I enjoyed it but not great. read more

The bakery is small and tight inside as racks and racks were placed against the wall/window and the middle section and filled with a variety of freshly baked Filipino breads and pastries including their hot pandesal! Yummy! Filipinos are getting creative and I saw this putchinta... wth is it? It's a combination of puto and kutsinta which are normally two different snacks or 'kakanin' LoL! Stocked up on some favorites. Purchased some mamon and other baked goods. These don't last long on our kitchen counter so I wish we have a Valerio's Bakery nearby... well, we do but the baked goods in the Bay Area seem to be more fresh than the one in Sacramento, which is closest to me in Roseville. Visited this bakery on a Saturday morning and it was pretty busy! Which is always a good sign. This place specializes in Filipino style baked goods, a lot of ube bread, dessert, etc. Everything looks good and fresh-baked. I got their chicken empanada and pork bun, pretty good! I would definitely come back again to try their ube baked desserts. Note - If you're paying with card, you need to spend $10 minimum. This is the place to be at to fulfill all of your Filipino baked goods/dessert cravings. My favorite items are the ube roll, ube biko, and their hopia. Be sure to get the hopia in the display case though--it's more fresh then the already prepackaged ones in my opinion. If you're a fan of ube, I'm sure something here will catch your attention. Although it's one of my top faves, the ube biko can be a hit or miss. During my most recent visit, the rice was a bit maybe undercooked?... and even after warming it in the microwave, it didn't have that soft, chewy rice texture. This is one of my favorite bakeries to go to. It's my go to place for pan de sal and hard-to-find Filipino desserts like puto bung bung and ginataang bilo bilo, mais, or munggo. I just found my new favorite!!! It's called pret-sal. Their take on the pretzel bun. It's so good!! It's not as soft or airy as their pan de sal, but also not as chewy as a pretzel bun. I was really impressed with the pastry offerings here! I've recently visited many Valerio's bakeries around the Bay Area and this is one of the better ones. They offer a ton of different traditional Filipino pastries and breads. Some of the best items I got: Ube Pastillas Seniorita, Bibingka, Puto Leche Flan, Cassava Cake and Ube Haba Haba. All items were fresh, tasted great and had the perfect amount of sweetness. The place is clean and one walks into a place with the great aroma of freshly baking bread. Everything is reasonably priced and it's easy to find something that interests you. On my next visit, I'm looking forward to trying other items! read more
