I absolutely LOVED this place, and so happy to see they are still open, I remember when this use to be the only restaurant in this shopping center. Parking is free and convenient (for anyone unfamiliar with the area) The restaurant is family owned, and everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The inside is super cute, and caters to groups 2-4/ 4-6, possibly more if you can push some tables together, overall, pretty spacious. We each ordered the Taco Salad. Mine with steak and the other with chicken. It was DELICIOUS, just so flavorful. The portions were pretty decent, so much so, that I got the other half of mine in a to-go container. They have an array of options for drinks, but of course how could I not have ordered a Jarritos?! I will most definitely return here, especially because on my way out, I saw that Birria Tacos were added to their menu. It was Sun evening and we wanted to order from a nearby restaurant. Came across this place on Yelp with decent reviews. Stepping in, we see a large family eating and enjoying themselves. We ourselves ordered tilapia fish with rice and green beans, chicken fajita dish with 4 flour tortillas and my son got the pork burrito. Also we shared a maduros for appetizer. All in all, we all really liked our food. I did wish the chicken fajita was cut up in smaller pieces and a tad dry, but that is just a minor complaint to an all around great meal. It's hard to find pretty decent Mexican places and based off the visit, we would definitely come back. Based on today's visit, I will give it a strong 3 stars. Talk about fast service! You can order and before you walk to your table, your food could be ready. I understand that this means the meat is probably precooked and waiting to be assembled per order but it's still good! I ordered the fish tacos and steak tacos. I enjoyed the fish one the most. The steak was good as well but a bit chewy. They kindly asked if I wanted a side of chips which I accepted and to satisfy my need for everything to be spicy, they gave me this red spicy sauce which was so good! The interior is also super spacious with many tables and could probably accommodate a larger party. I tried Vallarta Grill again a few weeks ago after having it for the first time in 2016. It's definitely my kind of place, as it's just a casual spot where you get your food and eat it. No table service but the interior is spacious and clean. I had empanadas during my first go round and wasn't impressed with the food to price ratio. I got the tacos this time like my friends had originally suggested. I got 2 al pastor, 1 steak, and 1 carnitas. The tacos here are all like $2.75-$3. I got a bottle of soda as well and my order came to a total of about $15. You get chips with your order, and there is a self serve salsa bar where you can pick up lemons, limes, and salsa. These tacos were amazing. There is so much I want to say about them. First off, the tacos come with double tortillas, which is a must in my book. Secondly, they were huge and incredibly meaty. The steak was was a little dry, but not as dry as other steak tacos I've had, and still very good. The Al Pastor tacos were definitely the highlight. They put either pineapple or mango inside of them to give it some sweetness. Each bite was perfect, really. Might not be the best idea to get too many of these because the sweetness of the taco might get a little sickening, but I had two of them and it was orgasmic. Carnitas was great too. At the end of the meal I couldn't get over how delicious it was. Too bad this place is a bit far from where I live in Nassau, but I think it's actually worth the drive out to Suffolk. The tacos check off all the boxes of what I look for: double tortillas, volume, and price. Definitely the best I've found on Long Island so far. read more

Wow!! I was in the area and wanted to try a salad, I went with the Taco salad with grilled chicken. Where to begin, the grilled chicken delicious fresh flavorful. Sour cream, creamy & fresh. Black beans plentiful delicious. Generous portions shredded cheese, guacamole. The taco bowl was so light and flaky like a sweet crisp pastry. So much food in this portion I wish I had another mouth. I had the chicken enchiladas and was prepared to give the restaurant 3 stars. There were 2 enchiladas covered with melted cheese and they were fine. Nothing either bad or great about them. Just average. They came with a nice sized platter of rice and beans, and some sour cream. Then I tried the carnitas taco and I liked it enough to consider the extra star. My daughter felt the taco had no flavor but I thought the pork tasted great and had good flavor. I liked their mild salsa very much but the spicy had a smoked flavor that I didn't like. Good favor and came with some guacamole and sour cream. She enjoyed it and so did I. I got a ground been hard shell taco that was good. I enjoyed it and it had a ton of cheese on top. I also ordered a carnitas soft shell taco and it looked delicious. But I found it to be bland. My mom tried it too and she loved it! When we asked for more, we were told we couldn't have more than 3. Well we ordered THREE burritos so we should have gotten 3 in the first place. Visit Date: October 5, 2015 Came here with some members of jury duty on a lunch break. The restaurant exudes an feeling of elegance cafeteria style. Basically you wait on line, order what you'd like, pay for it and when your order is ready it's called out and you take your tray to wherever you are sitting. The staff I dealt with here were nice. The guy at the register recommended getting my plantains with sour cream instead of whipped cream and he made a wise choice. I'm sure the whipped cream would have been great but the sour cream was an excellent pairing with the sweet, slightly gooey plantains. I also had jalapeno poppers which I enjoyed. They weren't too spicy and they weren't so burning hot. Sometimes I get them and I can't eat them right away because the cheese inside is on fire. Vallarta, Vallarta, Vallarta! This has become my new favorite place for Mexican food. The Al pastor taco is amazing! It's one of the best tacos I've ever had; it is a combination of meat, pineapples, and a sauce to die for. The shrimp taco would have to be my 2nd favorite and it's amazing how perfect they cook their shrimp. To accompany my tacos, their house tortilla chips is so delicious and addictive. 80% of my days is spent craving those chips and the awesome condiments from their salsa bar. Yes, they have a salsa bar with a decent but tasty variety ranging from spicy to plain. After reading other Yelp reviews I would have to agree that they make a pretty mean chicken torta. I'm always blown away by how soft the bread is. I usually get the chicken burrito but these days I find myself cheating on burritos with tortas! The chicken burritos are always super fresh tasting and very well put together. I love that their burrito always tastes cohesive, meaning, all the layers as their own entity are not lacking in flavor or salt which makes every bite the perfect bite. Also, don't forget to try their chicken enchiladas it's so flavorful on the inside and blanketed with cheese on the outside. Lately I've been coming to Vallarta's atleast once a week and I live in Queens. It's a really quiet and relatively clean place to sit down and grab some lunch. The staff is very mannerly and kind. Food is cooked fresh in an open kitchen which is awesome so you can see your food being made and you know it hasn't been sitting around. Ingredients are also good quality, dishes are inexpensive for the quality you get. Service is excellent-- truly hard working people. I've been going here for years. Never have had any complaints. I usually get the chicken fajita plate with corn tortilla. Always great. Whenever I go with my boyfriend we share the chicken fajita monster burrito. The only thing with the monster burrito is that they seem to do their own thing whenever we come. They're constantly changing the dish so it's never exactly the same. First and last time eating here. Ordered food for 5 people, we all got something different unfortunately I was the only one to get food poisoning, ended up in the ER bc I was so sick- they confirmed (have the receipts to prove) it was indeed food poisoning- unlucky for them this was the only place I ate at that day so it was pretty easy to trace it's origin. Called the restaurant to tell them and a snotty little girl answered the phone and responded that she ate the food there and never got sick.. no apology no let me pass to my manager just flat out called me a liar then hung up on me. What I should've asked for was a refund of my meal, my copay for the hospital and my 2 days of pay from work that I missed. I didn't know what to expect at Vallarta after reading many mixed reviews on Yelp. We always go to Nish Nosh next door, and never have any complaints but we wanted to try something new. Vallarta Mexican Grill is a casual Tex-Mex place that has beers like Corona and Presidente while serving their food on hard plastic white plates. The reviews on Yelp seem to hate on the plates but my girlfriend and I had no real issue. We placed our orders, one steak fajita and one Vallarta chicken combo and before I could get back from washing my hands in the bathroom, the food was ready! They have a salsa bar in the corner and most entrees come with free chips which is a cool perk. My combo was really good actually but the chicken was dry and over cooked a bit. A soaking in one of the salsa made everything better. The combo comes with beans, rice, pico, lettuce, sour cream, chicken or steak, and your choice of tortilla. I got corn, came with 4 of the thin tortillas and made myself a few tacos the way I wanted to. For the price, Vallarta is a great deal. Two full meals which we could barely finish and two bottles of water came in at under $25. I would come back here, maybe try a burrito but Nish Nosh next door will probally take me away. read more

It is mostly a self serve type of place- you order at the counter, grab some napkins and plastic ware and find a seat. Free chips and a bunch of different salsas to try from the self serve salsa bar helps pass the time until the food is ready. I had the Vallarta combination platter and it contained some very good chicken, rice and a choice of black or pinto beans. I went with flour tortillas and dug into the yumminess. They had some sour cream and pico de gallo on the plate so I constructed myself some Mexican goodness and chowed down. The only drawback was no beer to wash it all down - but they are apparently working on that too. Soda went just as well and I watched me some futball while eating.
