The atmosphere in this place is great. You can seated either outside or inside near the large water feature at the Chandler location. A very friendly staff. The cheese enchiladas are the best. I have eaten several menu items. I do have a bias because I taught both daughters and I remember when they stared the business on Bell in Phoenix. I attended a large group dinner on the patio on a cool, windy evening so some of my disappointment was due to circumstances. Service was incredibly slow. Even though one of the two assigned servers was hustling, it was just too slow. To top it off, my entree was given to another person so I was served last - over 90 minutes after I arrived. So they offered me the entree ordered by the person who took mine, and I took it because I didn't want to keep delaying the event. It wasn't bad - a chunky beef fundido with beans and rice. But you know how it is when you were set for one thing and get another. I appreciated the portable heaters, but those not near them were freezing. Back in 1991 we lived by the original Valle Luna on Bell Rd and it was responsible for my 10 pound weight gain!! My husband used them regularly to cater work lunches and we got 2 burritos with rice and beans for $12. Well...three moves later we are back and it is just as good as I remember. The rice and beans were perfect. The taco...AMAZING! And I tried the spicy beef in the tostada and it was good. Hubby had the taco and a cheese enchilada and said it was "quite tasty". We now live in Texas and wish we had a good Mexican restaurant and good margaritas...our area is growing...think you should expand!! If you want good Sonoran Mexican food this is the place!! Good margaritas and mini taco basket is my go too. My family and I come for our birthday get togethers here and it's always a great memory!

This is a three, but a worth it three for me. It's not going to knock your socks off, but it's a solid spot for average tex-Mex and sometimes you really just want average text Mex. The rice and beans are good, the taco is nothing to write home about, and the enchilada is pretty decent. I like the atmosphere inside the restaurant, and the patio is by a lake, which is nice. The service isn't particularly speedy, but very friendly. We came here for a fairly large party and it did the track. I do have a complaint that when I called asking if we could sit outside, they mentioned that they had heaters on the patio. When we arrived just 30 minutes later, they mentioned they were out of propane and only like two of the heaters were working. I wish they had told us this over the phone because we were pretty cold during the meal, but trying to eat outdoors to avoid viruses because my dad was in the hospital at the time and we couldn't even afford to get a cold (but it was my sister's birthday and we wanted a night out after an extremely stressful week of worrying about my dad). We toughed it up and endured the cold, but have they mentioned the heaters weren't working, we probably would've gone somewhere else. I would've appreciated that knowledge. Regardless, it's a consistent spot where you can have consistent expectations and I would return. read more

My wife and I one night went to dinner out here in Arizona at a nice Mexican restaurant called Valle Luna. It was a comfortable place with an outside dining room overlooking a lake. My wife started with a margarita, and I had a Dos Equis. It was wonderful sitting on the outdoor dining deck with a drink enjoying the lake. For dinner my wife had Chili Rellenos, which she reported as excellent. I had a burrito. They told me I could have a breakfast burrito for dinner, and choose my meat. I chose shredded chicken. The burrito I got was very good as a chicken burrito, but since I ordered a breakfast burrito with chicken, I expected more egg and less chicken. It was a chicken burrito with a tiny bit of egg. The service was excellent. Our waiter was very personable and made our dining experience great. read more

I have ordered catering trays multiple times for work throughout the years and it's ALWAYS a hit! Very consistent and delicious. Uncharacteristic experience today. Poor service combined with poor food. Two of the 3 dishes were very dry from sitting under the lights. 3rd dish served with beef when chicken was ordered. Waitress blamed server without any offer to correct it. To only find out our dish was mistaken with the table next to us. We overheard the full discussion. Their waiter handled it very professional, not only did he remove the cost from their tab, but he offered to prepare a new dish. Our waitress said, well you got food, only the stuffing was wrong. I left a handwritten message on the check. It may be a while before I return. And if I do, as if I get the same waitress, I'm politely walking out. read more

Valle Luna is a staple for my in laws but this was the first time I had been. Its location is very easy to get to and had a nice patio right next to a lake. In better weather it would have been nice to enjoy the view. Instead on this cold day we went and sat in the bar seating area. We sat there because there is a great happy hour menu that includes weekends. The bar area was very loud because there were many sports being shown. I had Fundido (chicken) and it hit the spot. Very flavorful and came with rice and beans. I would absolutely get it again. Everyone in my party enjoyed the food and drinks and again the price is so reasonable. Will come again but unless I'm watching football or getting happy hour I'd seat somewhere slightly less loud so I could talk with my party. read more

This is where you bring your family and friends for a good time. I believe the owner, Sharon, took my order, and she was so patient when I was being indecisive as always! This place is delicious with absolutely great service. I went here with a friend on a Saturday and got seated a booth (which was completely torn down and needs replacing). The ambiance was good, they looked busy and it was a casual atmosphere. Chips and chunky salsa were complementary. We ordered steak and cheese quesadillas. It was greasy and so good. We split that dish. He got tacos that came with only rice (he has food sensitivities). I ordered the burrito bowl and it was so good. I wanted something and this was it. Make sure to have help to finish or separate out the food so it doesn't get wet and bad later (wish I did that). Portions were massive for my meal. I would definitely come back and try their desserts. I ate so much so I didn't have desserts. The waiter was Manuel and I liked him. We had a two for one coupon that expires next week so we decided to indulge last night. The parking lot was pretty full so we knew there would be a wait, but it wasn't long at all. The hostess took my name and number and we were sent a text when our table was ready. Thankfully there is limited seating outside so that we didn't have to stand the entire time. There were several families waiting when we got there. We were seating right next to the beverage station, but it wasn't a distraction at all. This location is using the reusable menus, however, they have a disinfecting station set up in between the restaurant entrance and the kitchen. There was a another family across from us when we got there, however, the social distancing was practiced very well. Every other table was marked off as not being used. There were people out on the patio as well. We love the outdoor ambiance while sitting inside, that is one of my favorite features at Valle Luna and what has kept me coming back for more than 10 years. Our server Edgar was outstanding. He had a great attitude and you could see the smile beneath his mask. He made sure that our drinks were full and we had everything that we needed. Fresh salsa was brought over when our bowls were nearing empty. Both my husband and I ordered the number 2, an enchilada, a taco, rice and beans. The plates were filled to the rim and the food was piping hot. Our only complaint was that the taco shells were slightly overcooked, see picture. Everything tasted amazing and as usual, there was so much food we couldn't finish it in one sitting. Eddie made our night complete with his walk byes to make sure we were always happy. Best Mexican food in the valley. I highly recommend for any event large or small. You won't be sorry.

We've been to the Bell Rd location, but we decided to stop by this one closer to home before going to a movie to check this spot out. It was busy at 530pm on a Saturday with a 40-45min wait. We only ended up having to wait 15mins, but that was the end of the speed for the night. We got lucky to be seated out on the patio with a view of the lake, and someone dropped off some chips and salsa just after we sat down. No napkins or silverware. Took 15mins for server to come offer to take drink order, and when we said we were also ready to order she was annoyed, barely wrote anything down and disappeared. Hubby ordered the cheese crisp as our app and asada enchiladas. I ordered the verduras fajita with frijoles de Olla since the refried beans aren't vegetarian and the black beans are Chipotle so too spicy for me. 15mins after our order was placed we got our drinks. He ordered a Cadillac margarita and it came in a pint glass and was watered down. 15mins later the server brought us our entrees (the cheese crisp never came out--I don't think she wrote it down). She put his dish and my side plate (tortillas, rice, beans, topping) down and hubby asked if we could get some silverware as we never got any. She snapped "ya, I'm waiting for it too. I waiting for silverware and for the fajitas." Hubby was nothing but calm and nice the entire night and she had a miserable attitude. She brought us 2 forks and no napkins. The enchiladas were clearly sitting under the heat lamp way too long. The plate was scalding hot and the enchilada sauce had completely absorbed into tortilla and it was crispy. My side plate was also under the lamp because the shredded cheese was melted on the plate, and there was barely any lettuce. The only thing fresh that came out was the fajita veggies. The enchiladas were dry and disappointing, the frijoles de Olla were spicy (I asked if there was anything on them when I ordered and she gave me a dirty look and said no). I didn't eat the rice or beans, and only used 1 tortilla. The veggies had red pepper flakes all over. I now know to ask for no pepper but I had to scrape it off on order to eat the veggies since that was all I ate. Being a former server, I was really disappointed in how the management was seating guests. They were packing every table they could but the staff was frantic and frazzled working tables inside and out on the patio (rather than having servers assigned to a specific zone for their shift), dealing with a backup in the dish pit where they were out of mugs for the bar and silverware for the tables. I felt bad at first for the server knowing how stressful it must be and giving her the benefit of the doubt considering the circumstances, but then when we asked for the check it took another 10mins and when she brought it out she rudely said "do you want to just give me the card now because I have a big order I need to put in." So he just gave her the card without seeking ticket and it took another 10 mins to get the receipt. Still being way too generous and kind considering the poor service, I tipped her 20% thinking maybe she's just having a bad day and maybe everyone is tipping crappy because of all the delays. Who knows but I hope it got better for the rest of the night. Terribly disappointed in the whole experience. And it wasn't just us. I could see all the tables around us waiting for drinks, food, checks, etc. There was even a table next to us that was there before us and still hadn't received their food by the time we were done with our food. It's a shame they tried to seat every table in the restaurant and patio when they didn't have the staff to cover the demand. Not sure we would go back unless it was not on a weekend at dinnertime. We ended up missing the movie we planned to go see because we spent over 1.5 hours waiting. read more

My wife and I wanted to eat Mexican to make up for another not so great event eating Mexican the week prior. I remembered this place from a few years ago and wanted to revisit it again. My wife had never been to Valle Luna's before. When we arrived our timing was great because we were able to be seated right away. Our food was good and the portions were big. We both ate only half our meal and we were so full. The margaritas were great and had a nice kick. We took the other half of our meals home and warmed it up the following day and we both agreed that the food was still delicious. We will definitely return in the future. read more

I recently had my 70th Birthday Party at Valle Luna on 10/19/24. It was the best....from the food, the service and our waitress Lynna was the bomb. Nothing went wrong from start to finish. They really needed two servers but Lynna stepped up and did an awesome job. We were on the patio which made the ambiance perfect!
