Little breakfast cafe with all the basics! They have optimal spacing with booths and tables. The staff were so friendly and seated us quick. I ordered the cinnamon French toast combo and it was good. A little bland but very buttery. They also give you warm syrup which is so nice. Great portions and overall good. A basic breakfast is how I'd describe it.

5/30/26: popped in for a late breakfast and devoured it. The Dubai chocolate French toast was delicious. My sister thought the strawberry delight French toast was a bit generic, but she ate it. They have plenty of parking, quite a bit of patio seating, and it's a pretty large place inside, too. May have to pop in and try their lunch items sometime.

Tried their vanity hot sauce on my omelette. I loved it. Chipotle smokiness with a nice kick. I bought a bottle for $5.95. Try it.

They sell their own Hot Sauce.

Decent restaurant for breakfast or lunch. They have some different items and lack a few of the usual I have come to expect. Seated almost immediately on most occasions. I've dined here with family, joined hubby for lunch here, met the (PC) gals here for a meal, and even met some fellow Dane peeps following Dogs Day in the Garden @ DBG. Service has always been pretty good. Food generally good. Well, except the coffee. I thought the coffee was weak. They have a good size patio area which is well shaded and offers high tops and standard seating. One of the biggest drawbacks, no Mimosas. Oh, and parking is sometimes at a premium. Fortunately, if you don't mind walking a few more steps you will have plenty of options.

Went because finally there was a daily soup that was something we'd like! Yay! I ordered a Rueben because those and iced tea are my barometers for cafes! I want to tell you-- yep, they do a fantastic Rueben. The meat was just the right amount. I don't like a huge pile, but I want to taste it! Meat was not dry or chewy as some is. It was really nice. The sauerkraut was tasty and the bread seemed fresh. It was perfectly toasted. The server brought me 1000 island. I was surprised it wasn't already on the sandwich. The fries were pretty great-- very hot. Crispy exterior and soft interior! The iced tea was cold, loaded with ice and came with lemon. Excellent. A pickle was included. The soup....the reason I stopped in. It was hot, thick, and came with fresh lemon. It was a creamy chicken orzo soup. It was very good but did need a bit of salt. I never salt things but this needed something. Still-- best soup I've found outside of the Midwest so far. I took some home for another meal. I almost didn't want to go because of the owner's message to me previously. If a customer has an opinion- take it or leave it! We all have so many choices of restaurants in this area. I don't give stars for nothing. I think hard about them! The server I had could not have been nicer. The food was hot. Drinks were ice cold. It was clean and bright. It really was a great experience today.

When visiting my friend in the Chandler area, we wanted to grab breakfast after watching a Tottenham match at a local pub nearby. Nothing beats a hearty breakfast after a breakfast pint and this place did satisfy our breakfast craving. When arriving we were seated immediately and the place seemed very spacious to accommodate larger parties/winter crowds. Once seated, we were greeted and advised the waitress would be with us shortly. Due to it being my first visit, I needed some time with the menu deciding but my friend knew immediately since she frequents this establishment. I decided on Garden Skillet ($14.95) and Coffee ($3.25). Overall, I felt like almost $15 for a skillet that didn't have any meat to be a bit pricey in comparison to other locations. Though I'm sympathetic to the rising cost of goods with inflation. It also didn't seem as seasoned as I would like, and lacked the wow factor. It still is a solid dish, but I would pick a different entree if I return. With friendly service and proximity to my friend's house, I will likely return in the future and would recommend to others for a typical local breakfast spot.

Biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and sausage. OJ on the side. Nice big glass!

Great Breakfast! Wow. Nice balanced menu of many good choices and specials. Something for everyone. I had the bacon Avocado tomatoe omelet and my wife had the house skillet. Very nice portions. This place smells like a breakfast place. Love it. Kaley helped us and she had patience as we decided on our meal. So helpful! We will come back again and again. Thanks Blackberry Cafe.

Gluten Free French Toast with apples & cinnamon

I had high hopes after reading so many great reviews. Glad the restaurant has many customers that love their food, not sure if we were there on an off day, but wasn't impressed. Service was good, but the food won't bring us back. Ordered gluten free french toast with their apple cinnamon topping. Loved that the apples were crisp, but lacked in cinnamon flavoring. The French toast without the apples was okay. The temperature throughout was in consistent. The apples were warm to hot, but the French toast slices were warm to cool. Not sure if the French toast was sitting waiting for the apples to be warmed, so the toast cooled off. I was told the cinnamon French toast lacked flavor and needed the syrup. The scrambled eggs were dry and the bacon is thin and not flavorful. As I said, disappointing. Maybe we ordered the wrong items, maybe it was an off day. We won't be rushing back.

I really wish it were easier to find breakfast joints with organic coffee but it can be a bit difficult to find in certain areas, such as the east valley area. This was one of a couple options I could find. We attempted to dine here for dinner on a previous occasion but it was a long wait at that time so we went elsewhere. This time we showed up around 10:15am on a Saturday in June, and we were quoted 90 minutes for two people. Fortunately there was room at the bar, so we were seated immediately. The decor is very clean and subtlety higher end. It is an open floor plan with the bar towards the front door, which is also accessible from the large patio (in cooler weather times) that has mister fans and a lot of shade. They have one of the nicest and cleanest restrooms in the valley, with complementary sea salt scrub and high end paper napkins. They also have a couple luxurious event spaces, one of which was hosting an engagement party. My mom tried a non alcoholic drink special with decaffeinated tea and fresh juices, with a little flower on top. She also tried the avocado toast. She enjoyed both but she said the avocado toast was a little spicy, albeit she has an extremely low tolerance for spice. I opted for the breakfast sandwich and black coffee. The coffee came in a neat mug with an oversized handle that was very ergonomic. It was good, but slightly watery. Was at least comforting to know it wasn't laced with tons of pesticides like most restaurants' coffee. The egg, bacon and avocado sandwich was delicious. The egg and bacon were cooked perfectly, and the bread was nice and soft but not too dry. The greens on the side were fresh with a nice vinaigrette. The service was excellent, all of the staff were friendly and seemed to be happy to be there. All in all I was impressed with this place. The only thing I wish they had on their brunch menu was an omelette, because this is first place I have been in a very long time that isn't a fine dining establishment, where they actually know how to cook eggs properly. They were fluffy, moist, and light. I don't bring this up as a brag, but I attended culinary school and learned proper scrambled egg (French style) technique years ago. This is the first place I've been in a long time that gives my eggs a run for their money.

I was killing time in Chandler when lunch time approached and getting a sandwich was on my brain…read more Thanks to the Yelp app, I was able to find Retro's Subs & Brews and it seemed like the perfect spot to cure my itch. I was super stoked to check a place with "retro" in the name out, and I gotta be honest here, I left with pretty mixed emotions about a lot of things. The restaurant itself is pretty boring inside, mostly just being black with a few small pictures hanging up. I was kind of expecting big retro movie posters or something hanging around, but I definitely didn't get much of a retro vibe from this place minus a small neon "bar" sign and a claw machine in the corner. The menus were very cool, right by the front door its a record shelf and the records were the menus, so thumbs up for that idea. I thought i was mistaken, but I don't remember seeing sandwich prices on the actual menu, but as I look at other photos on yelp it does appear that the sandwiches don't have prices attached to them, which explains why I was thrown off by the end price. I settled on ordering the "take on me" which was black forest ham, roasted turkey, hickory smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and mayo on a Hawaiian style roll. I also ordered a sprite and a chocolate chip cookie as a side. The chocolate chip cookie was okay, pretty standard cookie though definitely not worth $3.75. The sprite was $2.99, and the sandwich came to $15.58. I was also charged $0.96 for something called the advantage program which I have no idea what that is. I gotta say, spending over $25 on a sandwich, a small cookie, and a drink is not something I would care to do at a place like this. The sandwich itself was very good, I won't deny that. The meat tasted fresh, and when it was all together it was definitely a good sandwich, but when there's not combo option and a basic sandwich, cookie, and drink ends up being $25 it's gonna be a no from me on returning in the future. Overall, I really wanted to love this place for the name, but the lack of much decorations and prices left something to be desired. The food itself was good, but not worth what was spent.

Everything else was terrible. And please note by my reviews that I'm an easy grader. Went with my uncle for lunch. We each had the three meat plate. I chose fattier brisket, pastrami and ribs plus two sides. This came out to ~$36 each. Total bill for the two of us was over $100 by adding drink, cookie, tax and tip. My uncle got kielbasa, brisket and pastrami. Our guess is that the food is brought in sealed and they microwave or use some similar reheat method and do no "cooking" there. All of my meats were beyond dry. It's really hard to convey how dry. The ribs were the biggest terror point since not only was it as tough as leather but it tasted like it was doused in iodized salt. My uncle's plate was not any better. The kielbasa was sliced and overcooked so badly that the sliced edges were burnt and frayed - you've got to really try hard to screw up preserved sausage. I could only do a few bites and threw it all in the trash. They were getting busy and I was not going to stand back in line with trays of food to broach the problems. They make sure to ask for a tip at time of order but there's no service for quality control. My uncle texted me later in the day: "Today's restaurant was such an awful choice for BarBQ. I can't remember when I had worse. We have to go to a real good one next time." It is crazy how bad this lunch experience was and a rarity that Yelps score misses the mark so badly.

We were greeted immediately when we walked in and brought straight to a good table in spite of our early arrival. Within a couple of minutes Erin our server came to introduce herself. We began with cocktails. A double Makers Mark on the rocks and a straight-up Tito's martini. Both done just as we like them and generous. First course was the Calamari. We're former New Yorkers so being a Calamari snob is expected. This offering, which delivered a bit of Scungilli as well, was really done well. Not heavy on the bread crumbs and not at all rubbery. The accompanying sauce was very tasty. We followed up splitting a Caesar Salad that we devoured. When we ordered our entree, Linguini and White Clam sauce, we asked Erin about the portions and she read us well. She suggested that we might be overwhelmed by the size of it so we split that also. Turned out to be a great idea. We devoured that too. Done just the way I like it. So good that I ordered a glass of Italian white wine to go with it. Normally, we don't have dessert but, Erin didn't bring the dessert menu. She just looked right at us and said: "We have the best carrot cake in the entire valley"! I must say that presentation was tough to look down my nose at so we split an order of carrot cake. I think I can say it really was the most interesting and best carrot cake I have ever had. Throughout the entire meal Erin kept an eye on us and made sure there wouldn't be a reason for us to wave her over. She's definitely a pro. She was even nice enough to laugh at my really bad jokes. A shout-out to the food runners as well. They were on time, friendly and polite. In closing, I have to salute the management. The dining room was clean, organized, and nicely appointed. They have attracted a pretty nice clientele if my observations were correct. There was plenty of conversations happening but no shouting or yelling. It is just a comfortable place to have a nice dinner out. I highly recommend this restaurant. Give it a try.
