I love that they still have lunch specials until 3 pm! I had the spinach enchilada with black and refried beans. The enchilada was stuffed with potatoes, tomatoes, cheese, and topped with a green sauce. Wow! I got completely stuffed off of that, as well as the chips and salsa that came before it. I highly recommend mixing the tomatoe filled chunky salsa with the red pepper one. The balance of the heat, tomatoes, and green onions is super satisfying! Minus one star for the cheese filled beans--they were great, but the cheese was a little overwhelming that I couldn't really taste the beans! Otherwise, everything else was awesome. Valle Luna has a Sunday Funday menu and we decided to try it. The Sunday Funday special is only available in the bar area. It includes breakfast items served until noon and all day drink and food specials. The bar area is a good size area and has a fun and festive decor. As soon as we sat down water, chips, and salsa were brought to the table. The chips were fresh and crispy. They have two salsas, mild and spicy. The spicy at first does not seem spicy but it definitely has a kick. They have a few food items and drinks special. I got the 1/2 basket tacos, Kelly's dip, and a mimosa. The tacos are hard shell tacos, include 3 tacos and were really good. Kelly's dip is a spinach dip with queso. It had a kick and was delicious. I would go back just for the dip. Solid choice for a locally-owned, family style Mexican spot. I'd never been but some friends chose this for a weekday lunch. While this shopping center is busy, I had no trouble parking. We were seated quickly in a booth. The restaurant seems large but it's broken up by decor and separate areas rather than one giant room. It happened to be Margarita Monday! Basic margaritas for $1.99. This is a very simple margarita but a great deal. The menu is huge! All sorts of options including lunch specials. I ordered a shredded beef chimichanga. This is possibly only the second time in my life ordering a chimichanga, but I was feeling random. It was really good! Too much sour cream, but I don't like sour cream. Next time I'll bother to say hold the sour cream. I got the de Olla beans, which are whole beans with salsa and cheese. So good! Our waitress was so personable and on top of everything. My friend ordered enchiladas, and was very happy that our waitress asked if she wanted the olives and onions in it. My friend hadn't realized those were in the enchiladas but definitely didn't want them. My only real critique would be that the salsa isn't my favorite. Our server was exceptional, positive and attentive. Flies were thick inside, pigeons numerous outside; did not set a good tone waving flies away throughout our meal. The food was mediocre and definitely not worth $20+tip per person for lunch. A 2:1 cocktail-to-entree ratio is acceptable, okay? And what can be said about the Fundido that hasn't already been mentioned? The fundido is their most popular dish. Rolled in a flour tortilla with their homemade jalapeño cream cheese, then lovingly deep fried and topped with melted cheddar cheese. A side of rice and beans accompanies your cheesy meal. It's a two-Lactaid-entree, but oh, so worth it! Eddy was our waiter and he was great. Without a doubt 110% the worst Customer Service I have ever received in my entire life! You should absolutely avoid this restaurant at all cost Here's the story I found one of their employees cell phone phones a nice iPhone sitting at an empty table. I picked it up put it in my pocket and waited for somebody hopefully the owner to call it. There was no Find My available and Siri was not set up so I was unable to figure out where it belong or make a call to return it. Sure enough the owner did call and it was one of the employees of the restaurant happy to be able to give the person back their phone. I walked up to the front of the restaurant and I was where I was immediately berated by the rudest employee in the world for taking his phone all but accusing me of theft and then followed me the other side of the restaurant through the kitchen. I didn't go to the kitchen. He went through the kitchen where he came back out and started beating me again he is the most unthankful rudest, and worst employee server I have ever had the displeasure of encountering. In the future, Mr. Weiderman, a simple thank you and a smile goes along freaking way. I cannot speak to the food, and I cannot speak to the ambience because we never received our food and we were immediately kicked out. Admittedly, my argument with the waiter was a little bit loud. And as we can all see from their business managers response to my review, they still refuse to take accountability for their extremely rude service staff. They clearly don't want to do better. I would avoid this place if I were you and I was reading reviews, there are much better places. There was so much food for the price! They even gave us some drinks to go!! I wish the hostess would have let me wait for my party before trying to seat me. We were out and about and decided to stop in for a quick, easy dinner. Without knowing it, we landed on a Sr. meal day so there was a wait, which is fine. What wasn't so great was the observations we made while sitting and waiting our turn. The host station was covered by a young man and young women, who were much more involved in their conversation than really paying attention to the customers. At one point, the young man leaned himself across the podium, played with his hair, checked his phone and the young lady's phone, laughed and joked with her. Professionalism was a bit missing, management. Once we were seated, Eddie came over to get orders. He was extremely friendly and we enjoyed our chats with him as he took care of us. Great customer service and I made sure to say something to the manager as we were leaving. Wanted to mention the table had a container of sugar and substitute but no salt/pepper and no silverware initially. We cleaned out our first basket of chips and salsa in no time and Eddie made sure to deliver a second basket and more salsa without skipping a beat! Their salsa is pretty good, not spicy (which I like) and more on the pico side of salsa. I ordered the Tia Rita Chimi with steak and wasn't disappointed. It's a lot of food and I ended up cutting it up and eating the filling. The meat had a great charred flavor. The chimi itself was crispy on the ends where no sauce was but the sauce does take away from that crispy tortilla. Mushes it out. Wife had a margarita, which she said was good. She had it on the rocks and the salt rim she loves. She also ordered the Senior Relleno Dinner and when she mentioned to Eddie that she also wanted the albondigas, he brought her a small cup to her. She liked the relleno, saying it was cooked well and had a good cheese filling. We both ate a bit of the rice (it's ok) and I used chips to eat the beans! Gotta love bean dip. I've been here so many times and I love this place (posting this now to share for anyone needing a warm spot during the holidays). Food is always consistently great, place is clean, and the bartenders are top tier. I can name Derek, Diego, and Ariel - they have taken great care of me over many years. They are all super prompt on acknowledging when I sit down, ask if I want the same I ordered last time (they always remember me and it's so nice!), and I don't feel like I need to flag them down whenever I need something. This is a real "local watering hole" and I hope they don't lose that - taking care of the people that make it their home. This is the place where I feel safe and I know these bartenders are looking out for me (as a woman alone at the bar). We are at Valley Luna on the outside patio and I was pleasantly surprised that the misters were able to keep us cool . Lol The restaurant has nice secure and seems to be very clean. Most everyone was very nice and greats us both when we entered and were leaving for the night. Our server however seemed like he hated his job, or was having personal problems. Not one smile from him, kept cutting us off when we asked questions and were placing our orders. The food was pretty good however. We were a party of 6 and we ordered starters and shared some tacos and everyone had their own plates. Everyone was happy with what they ordered. I normally don't leave reviews, but my experience at Valley Luna was unacceptable from start to finish. When I arrived, the hostess Kaia immediately rolled her eyes when I said we needed a table for 7. No greeting, no courtesy--just attitude. Not a great first impression. Then our food runner, Lily, was incredibly rude and clearly frustrated. When we asked which order belonged to who, she snapped, "Normally they just cut them," instead of simply helping us figure it out. Completely unprofessional. To make things worse, the manager, Sylvia, came out--not to apologize--but to defend Lily. She told us they were short-staffed because someone called out and that "no one has ever complained about her." If being short-staffed puts the staff in such a bad mood that they take it out on paying customers, that's a management issue, not an excuse. We spent almost $200 on dinner and still received attitude, zero customer service, and no accountability. At the end of the day, diners are paying for both food and service. Unfortunately, Valley Luna delivered neither. I won't be returning and cannot recommend this location based on this experience. read more
