Atmosphere is blah. Not a lot of thought put into waiting area, very Hodge podge. Food is average. Feels smaller than the previous Mexican restaurant that was in this location. Definitely not the same vibe. Was really hoping for an upgrade in food. Previous place had ground beef tacos in an ortega crunchy shell and called it family recipe. Lunatics does not feel like their menu is an upgrade. Its been a year since grand opening, nothing has improved over this time frame. Ordered their signature chimichanga. I'd rate Garcias' and Aho Al's well above. The locally owned takeout Camineros has twice the flavor in their items. Even Top Shelf outplays this new concept. Was really hoping for an out of the box concept, something refreshing from Valle Luna, colorful, fun vibe. Not happening here. No marketing. Food is amazing. However, they need to update their website and signs on the windows. We're here on Sunday morning. A big window ad shows 8 a m to 11 on saturday and sundays, but uh wooden billboard and the normal hours on the door say 9 a m and actually 10 am on saturday, which makes no sense. The food was delicious and service was good. The place was fairly loud, but it was Saturday night. The reason I'm giving it 2/5 stars is because this place has the audacity to charge $2 more for using a debit card (vs cash). When you have a business, paying the fee for accepting credit and debit cards for your services or food is part of your responsibility. Passing it onto customers is in poor taste. I paid $3.50 for a soda and $18.00 for a burrito, having to pay a card fee is pretentious. I won't come here again until this changes. read more

If you would like to sit and just watch others eat, this is the place to go apparently. As regular customers at their bell location, we were excited to visit this new branch, but our experience was far from what we have come to expect from this establishment. We waited at our table for 30 minutes without anyone taking our order. Despite the hot weather outside (103°F), we had to ask a busboy for water because we were not attended to. After waiting for an additional 5 minutes, we became frustrated and decided to leave. On our way out, we informed the hostess that no one had come to take our order after 35 minutes, but she showed no reaction or concern. This lack of attention and indifference was incredibly disappointing, especially since we had been looking forward to dining at the new location. We hope this was an isolated incident, but it certainly left us with a negative impression. Sad part is they did not seem to be short staffed and were not that busy. read more

Food: 2/10 it was okay. We have visited twice in person and had togo the second time. Dine in experience was okay. Food doesn't compare to their other location. When we ordered takeout- ended up with food poisoning... Service: 6/10 dine in - they were good. Attentive but never gave any suggestions. Wanted a second round of drinks but the server never came back around. I feel like it's different service in their 'family' area as we brought our two kids with too. They love their cheese crisps. Takeout - they were a little rude and non existent when I first walked in. Finally would get someone's attention they were just not friendly. Ambiance - dark and small. This location has a small section divided out for 'family' as it's the only part with low tables. They kept the same layout from when it was Mi Familia. We wish it was better as it is only 2 minutes away from our house and we absolutely love the food at the bell location. May not be going back any time soon. read more

Really dig this joint replacing Mi Familia... The food is 100 times better.. big fan of their Machaca beef as it has the perfect amount of spice for me!! Red sauce has delicious flavor and they have a great old school taco sauce!! Service is always good and the ambience is great too!! Give this joint some love!! read more

Another West Valley disappointment. We were excited to hear that Valle Luna was coming to this location as Mi Familia had been going downhill for years and we have been going to Valle Luna on 35th & Bell forever. Unfortunately, Mi Familia at their worst was still better than this. The food was terrible. The tacos were bland. We had both beef and chicken, and neither had any flavor. The chips and salsa were the only decent things they brought us. This place will be successful, though, because they have TVs and a bar. read more

Food is terrible. The steak in the carne asada burrito is over cooked, cubed and the sauce is store bought at best. Margaritas are a joke, had to send the 1st round back, kept the 2nd round because I needed a buzz to choke down the food. Cold cold cold cold take out food. Ordered fiesta nachos for pickup and was provided a cold dish of fiesta nachos as if someone else ordered and dis not even pick up so they were given to the next ordering victim which was unfortunately me. I called the restaurant they are rude and blame me the customer for the cold nachos, i live 4 min away so doubtful. ( too many other cold food reviews) they also charge credit card fees an unfortunate habit to pass to the consumer. Do you ever walk into a place and think: "this is not gonna be good" Well, folks. Welcome to Valle Luna Lunatics! This is not a Mexican restaurant, but rather a dive bar that happens to have tacos. Are you thinking you're gonna get high-quality food? Absolutely not. I ordered the "Sonoran burger" The first one they gave me had MOLD on the top bun, then the second one they gave me had raw onions and barely had a bottom bun. Not to add that the meat was overcooked. It actually made me nauseous and I ran to the restroom. Staff were accommodating by getting me a new one. I will give it that. Before the second burger with the raw onions and the sunken bottom bun was given to me, an older lady (who I would assume is the manager) "apologized" and said that they were gonna cook a whole new burger. New as in "take it out of the freezer and reheat it in the microwave". Rename it to Valle Luna Dive Bar and you'll be off the hook for false advertising! read more

TLDR: Cold food, awful tacos. I had the grilled asada platter with chicken tacos and requested corn tortillas. I was given flour tortillas (I'm allergic, but didn't specify that) and when I notified the waitress, I was just given corn tortillas on the side. I had to transfer the tacos from the flour tortillas to the corn tortillas myself, which was a weird/unpleasant experience to have at a restaurant. Also- these were the worst tacos I've ever had. The chicken tasted like microwaved, prepackaged chicken strips, the shredded cheese was off-putting (maybe from being half melted from one taco then transferred to the next), and the corn *and flour* tortillas were just not good. Additionally, ALL the food came out room temp. (Mine, my parents, and the free chips.) Overall, the ingredients used just tasted very low quality and then were served cold. Even the free salsa and "hot sauce" that came with the chips were subpar. My mom got a salad/burrito bowl. She asked for the dressing on the side but when she got it, the dressing was mixed in and the salsa came on the side. She also requested no beans in her bowl. They got that right but also forgot the rice. The service was pretty good, which is why I'm giving two stars instead on one. Ambiance was a bit weird because they played reggae-like/beach-y music, but it's a Mexican/American sports bar. I'm sorry to give such a poor review, but I was genuinely pretty upset leaving this restaurant. I think they can absolutely do better, but will have to invest in better ingredients and some heat lamps. I won't be returning. read more
