One day, I was putting my weights away and I tweaked something in my shoulder blade. I had a nagging pain for about 2 weeks. I was at critical mass - had to do something. This past Friday, I contacted Ricky (solely based upon yelp reviews) in the morning to see if I could schedule a same day appointment. I was able to text him (which was great) because skillful massage therapists are always busy working. So, it can be challenging to get an answer immediately. I understand this dilemma well. Thankfully, Ricky had something at 630pm. I scheduled a 30 mins half table session. Let me tell you, in less than 2 minutes, he found the spot that was aggravated - I immediately asked for an hour. He obliged as he didn't have an appointment right after me. Thank goodness!!! He did a deep tissue massage and my muscles were sore thereafter. However, it was definitely what I needed - skilled and focused attention. I will definitely return over and over again! Again, I train hard and work full-time. So, being able to have someone work on my issues is fantastic!

For me being comfortable while getting a massage means not being cold. They don't turn on their a/c here and that's great for me. I can't stand a/c especially when I'm naked. The most common complaints you see in places like this are noisy and/or rude workers. You don't get that here. Masseuses that are not working stay in the break room where you can't hear them talk. Even if you get one who is not well versed with the English language they can still be polite and courteous. I guess the owner stresses that to her employees. On cold days most places turn on the central heating which usually is not enough (for me anyway). This place has a space heater in every room and the mattresses are heated. How cool (or warm) is that! Get eight 1 hr massages and you get one free; other places want you to get ten before you get one free. Most places don't even offer any freebies. Here they don't hassle you for more tip like some shops; they are happy with what you give them; no place is perfect and the only minor negative about this shop: when everybody is busy they have to lock the front door so when the door bell rings someone has to leave the room to attend to it. But that doesn't happen a lot. When you're so relaxed and half asleep you won't notice it anyway. And most masseuse will make up the time lost.

To say I'm being careful is an understatement. I felt 100% safe with Cyndi. She takes this pandemic very seriously and keeping everyone safe is her priority. She works in a private space with a private bathroom. Everything is clean and sanitized. Everyone is required to wear a mask. She just started taking clients again on September 1st so I feel very lucky that I was able to get an appointment so quickly. She was simultaneously treating three patients at the same time, which immediately made me uncomfortable. It felt like I was part of an assembly line rather than an actual patient receiving care. The "treatment" consisted of about 2 minutes with a laser and 7 minutes of shock therapy, followed by a very brief and surface-level conversation about why I was there. There was zero effort to get to know me, my concerns, my history, or my goals. No questions, no engagement, no real assessment. My copay was $5, and honestly, the level of care reflected exactly that. It felt cheap, rushed, and impersonal--like minimal effort for minimal cost. I left feeling unimportant, rushed, and unheard. The whole place felt like a drive-thru chiropractic service--get them in, plug them into a machine, get them out. Four or five different people quickly slip in and out of my exam room to touch me/ provide services during each 10 minute appointment. Needless to say, it is a revolving door of strangers. I don't know if any of them have read my chart or know my body's needs. I don't know any of them well enough to know who to ask for. I learned that each provider who touches some part of my service during the appointment can charge insurance for more services. That's the only reason I can think of why they would provide such unprofessional, impersonal, and awkward service. I tried to stay with them for three or four appointments because they take my insurance. Ultimately, I decided it wasn't worth the potential harm to my body to continue being seen.
