We walked in with masks on and were told we had to go to the restroom and wash our hands before we were seated. I loved this! We were set a a table socially distanced from other customers. Really great quality ingredients. Had breakfast on this visit, and my spinach omelet (with feta, tomato, and onion) was perfectly proportioned & ingredients distributed evenly. Be very cautious when using a debit card. Was charged four times for the same meal. Charges debited from my account. Went back to resolve this issue with the owner and he could not have been more rude. Stated that it was not possible. Had the original receipt and proof he received the overpayments. Stated I had no knowledge of how debt cards work and to resolve this with my bank. Also, that I owe him an apology! Sad, eat there a lot and service and food was always good. I came to this place because I saw s billboard with s picture of s nice steak on it. So I stopped on my way back from Atlanta a couple years ago. I ordered the steak. When it came it looked so thin like a breakfast steak you would order from waffle House or s similar place. This was the worst steak I have ever eaten. Service was slow. I've been here twice. The first time, I had a good experience. The burger I ordered was a good one, and the service was fair. The second time was not good, the service was slow (despite not being incredibly busy) and the waitress almost seemed annoyed that we were eating there. I eat here quite often when I am passing through town. The food is always top notch; however, the staff is almost always rude and usually seem irritated that I am there. Also, on a couple of occasions, I have received something completely different from what I ordered. My server today, William, actually rolled his eyes at me after I placed my order then was very short with me afterwards. My wife and I recently moved into the area from Atlanta and we tried this restaurant this evening. Both of us are Southerners and I was raised in a neighboring county, so I know the region. We ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes for an Appetizer. They were not fully cooked and the sauce was bland and very forgettable. My wife ordered the Catfish Dinner with Baked Potato and Squash Casserole. The catfish was ready made fish strips out of the bag. Would have had more flavor and more fish from MS Paul. Her Baked Potato was old and brown. She requested something different for her potato and got french fries but they were precooked and had no salt. The Squash Casserole was old and had no flavor. I ordered the Sirloin (Rare) and also the Baked Potato and Squash Casserole. I had the same issues with the squash and potato. The steak was actually cooked correctly but there was no seasoning at all. I tasted more of the grill than the steak. The best thing on the plate was the roll and it was hotter than the squash. The owner was sitting at the bar watching TV and eating. When he finished, he came by and asked us how the food was. My wife told him about the fish, squash and potato and he was very argumentative. He said everything was seasoned right and was freshly made. I told him about the steak - no salt and pepper. And he said that I was wrong. They also station the plate with the side items under a heat lamp while they cook your meat. The fast service is probably because all the food is made beforehand. He might want to sit at the bar and watch Robert Irvine and take notes. Our meals cost us $30.00 and we were there maybe 30 minutes. The service was terrible - made me feel bad that I gave the waitress 10%. She did not deserve any tip. My pancakes were thin crepes and the excuse was, "the batter is thin today and that is what the pancakes are for today". They both made a scene and we asked them to leave the table several times as they each continued to argue. Unless you enjoy sub mediocre food with abysmal service and inhospitable management, this is not a restaurant you will enjoy. We waited an hour for our food and very politely asked the waitress if everything was okay (we were in no hurry) and she insisted there was only a "slight" mix up in the back. After waiting too long for bad food we were chased down in the parking lot by the manager and verbally lashed out against for being "the worst customers he had ever seen". I have been at Valley Cafe a few times in the past, I don't understand why the Owner keeps a restaurant manager who is truly disrespectful to the staff, and also having witnessed the unnecessary drama between the Owner and his staff is beyond understanding. I don't feel good about going back, this level of unprofessional behavior is rude and disrespectful to me and my family. I do not blame the staff for not being trained properly. This is the result of a restaurant manager who is there for a paycheck only. Not to make sure that the customer service is exciting and professional. The open concept of the building allows you to see directly into the kitchen area and you are able to witness all interaction between the staff and management. There is one cook and the owner who argue about unnecessary drama between the two of them thy behave as of they are husband and wife. I really don't want to be in the front row seat watching this level of unprofessional behavior. If your a fan of The Cupboard, then you'll become a fan of this restaurant. Unlike the Cupboard, Valley Cafe is small, but the portion size of the meals is pretty large. They are not stingy with the portion, but could be closely related to the Clayton Cafe or Savannah Street. The only difference is the Sweet Tea is better, and a little cheaper. They may not be as good, but they sure are good enough. read more

Worst customer service i have ever seen. My group of 12 were left with our mouths wide open by the manager being rude and disrespectful to a elderly man. So much so the man was embarrassed and moved his seat to advoid looking at anyone. This behavior bothered my group so much so. We paid for the elderly mans breakfast. And decided we should say something. I approched the manager in a quietand descreet way. Only to be met with name calling and disrespect. I asked for the owner Dunken. After watching a display of laughing banter between the manager and the owner. The owner goes to the back and the manager tells me he is too busy to see me. Unfortunatly after a little bit a frustrated comment. The owner came out. He was just as rude if not more so than the manager. He could have cared less what we had to say.
