I went to Valvoline on June 25 for a simple oil change. By August 1, my car had completely broken down. I had it towed by AAA to my mechanic, who immediately saw the problem -- Valvoline had installed the oil filter improperly. Because of their mistake, all the oil leaked out and my engine seized. Went to this valvoline and they changed my oil, and a little over a week later - my oil began to leak but the low oil light never went on. It was parked in the driveway, and by the next day, all the oil was on the ground. I had my car towed to my Kia dealership to get it fixed, and they found the drain plug loose, oil all over undercover, and then had to get a new oil change. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Valvoline told me they have a video of the tech working on it, but we would need a subpoena to get it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] No one else messed under my brand new car! Kia said this couldn't have happened unless someone messed with it. Avoid this place and its mechanics at all costs. We will be going to small claims court as the price to repair was over $500, but this should've never happened and Valvoline refuses to pay for this and the claims department won't let us talk with the individuals who "made this decision to not pay the $520 repair cost ". The service itself comes with a check of tire pressure and washer fluid, etc. Not bad. You will find that the techs yell loudly to each other across the 3 bays while they're working - as if they're calling audibles. That's annoying. It got annoying to the point that I almost hate going there anymore. Why they think I'm going to reach for my keys that they have requested to remain on the dashboard is beyond me. They do a check of other areas as well & will try to sell you other services at ripoff prices. Don't let them sell you on a $39.99 cabin filter replacement that you can buy (and install yourself) for about fifteen bucks, simply by going to the Advance Auto Parts down the street. Brake light replacements are a ripoff at about ten bucks a pop. Get the bulb from Walmart for $1.99 and do it yourself. If time and convenience is the issue, then head over and bring a coupon. Otherwise, since you know the maintenance best on your vehicle, get a second opinion before investing in anything outside of a conventional oil change. read more

If i could i would rate it 0 stars. They" changed my oil" with old recycled oil which caused my engine to fail. Within 2 days of the oil change my mechanic said there was no way that was clean oil he stated unequivocally that valvoline broke my engine. Then the district manager said it was my fault because i waited 5000 miles for an oil change he said my engine requires an oil change every 3000 miles. Then i quoted the manual that says i need an oil change every 7500 miles. Now i am going thru the better business bureau. Terrible. Go at your own risk read more

I went to Valvoline for the first time to get an oil change and after 2 weeks my oil light came on so I went back to Valvoline and was told that I only had a quart left in my tank they tried to find where the leak was but according to the pitman they did not know where the leak was and advised me to go to my mechanic or Pep Boys and the pitman was under my car doing something that was shaking my car so hard also. I started watching my car after I left and noticed that the oil was leaking more so two days later I went back to Valvoline to get the manager's number and was told that they wanted to look under my car again because the pitman who looked at my car the second time I came was "ok" per the employee and this guy was an expert so they looked and told me that my oil pan was now cracked. I went to my mechanic the next day who confirmed that the oil pan was indeed cracked so I got in touch with the manager to see how they were going to resolve this because something obviously happened at their establishment and they did not want to take accountability instead they tried to put the blame on the oil change I went to before 4 month ago! calling it a preexisting problem. The manager is horrible and corporate is just as bad. Stay away from this place because I was told by other people that this particular Valvoline always messes up someone car. I will never go back there! Now I am going through Better Business Bureau. I wish I could rate them 0. Update: They tried to blame it on me and say it was a preexisting problem which is completely false because my car was completely fine before I ever went there. Instead of taking accountability and taking advantage of a woman they would rather resort to lying. There is no way I went to this establishment for the first since my oil change 4 months ago and I had a preexsisting oil leak they would have seen it when I went there. My wife had her oil changed here on December 2nd. After leaving the car was smoking. She thought they had spilled oil on the valve cover while filling it up. We wiped off excess oil. Car continue to smell like it was burning oil. When I checked the oil levels and went to add oil I discovered that they broke a hole in the valve cover when filling the oil. We took the vehicle there to let them know what they did. They said they would have to review the video to see if they actually cause the problem. They said that it might have been there before they change the oil. We're told to come back on Monday at 9 a.m. to talk to the manager. read more

I was quoted $85 over the phone for synthetic oil change 2014 BMW X3, I usually take It to the BMW dealership, since I had a $15 off coupon I wanted to give Valvoline a try. When I got there I had to drive it inside myself, instructed me to left signal, right signal, step on brake while shifting to reverse, put on drive, park, turn on headlights, turn off...etc. Then told me it's $110.00 I declined the service, so one of the employee said I was cheap. BMW dealership oil change is $80.00. You leave the car they do all the inspection. They have a lounge with HDTV, free snack, coffee, and soda while you wait. If you can not wait they offer a free BMW loaner car. In addition they wash your car free of charge. When I asked if the were sure, the story changed a bit and I was told the fluid was low but I still definitely need the service. I asked again if they were sure and was told "absolutely". Interesting thing is, my car is front wheel drive and DOESNT EVEN HAVE A REAL DIFFERENTIAL! The likely don't make much on an oil change so they try to sell you other services. Super quick and easy, you drive up and wait to be let in. Sometimes there are others cars already waiting and they will take you in the order you arrived, not by lane. They check your lights, A/C, cabin filter, etc. so they'll let you know if something is wrong, up to you if you want to change it on the spot. Prefer this location over the one in Fairfield, much more professional! PS. They usually have coupons! read more

Just go to the dealership. The whole coupon thing is a scam to get you in the door of Valvoline. Toyota dealership is cheaper without a coupon-- plus the dealership takes your car, does all the inspections, and washes it for free while you wait in the lounge with free drinks, food, tv and WiFi. Nothing against the employees who work at Valvoline, we all need to work. But I prefer getting a better deal for my money. Lesson learned. I've been here a few times and I have no complaints at all. You can usually get in and out in about twenty minutes. What I really like about going here is that they don't try to push things on you that you don't want or need. They will offer different options, but if you say that you're not interested, they won't get pushy like some other places. That's refreshing and it makes for a much less stressful experience. I have a car that's only a few months old so they just did the basics, but I brought in another car that's 14 years old and they did offer several options. Once I said I only wanted the basic oil change, they backed off and got things done. I used to go to a place where you have to make an appointment and sit and wait, but I don't bother with them anymore, Valvoline is so easy and everyone is very professional there. Oh, you can usually search for a coupon code or get one if you check in on Foursquare. Plus, they'll usually send you a postcard reminder that includes a discount for your next visit. read more

I found out 6 months later resulting in a $300 repair that needed to be done at the dealer. I told the manager about this and he paid the bill, no fuss at all. I've been going there for a long time. I'm the guy that would tip, but the staff has all changed and no one would remember that. No more tips. The service was horrible. An oil change has been running $85 there for me. I went in on Sep 15th, 2017. The kid asked me if I wanted Blue. "It's a diesel" I said. I then was stunned to see my bill was $127. I complained and another fellow came over and the kid serving me said he reduced it $10. It's still $127! No it was $137. Huh? Maybe the first total didn't include tax and the second did? That's even worse. So my normal expected cost went from $85 to $137--a 61% increase? Later, I looked at the new windshield sticker, and it was a 15,000 mile interval--crap, they billed me for synthetic oil. Well, I called up and spoke to the manager. He wanted to argue with me and tell me this "Blue" oil was for diesel motors. He would not admit it was synthetic until much later in the conversation. I told him over and over again the interval was 15,000 miles and it must be synthetic. Finally he admitted it. Well, of course, there are different specifications for motor oil. And there are grades of mineral oil which include diesel and turbo diesels. So what did they put in my truck the last few times? Non-spec oil? He repeatedly said it could have been a miscommunication. How? I never heard the word synthetic. It's an expensive upgrade and worthy of discussion. Did he direct his staff to push this "Blue" oil? Then he offered to take $20 off. He insisted the normal charge was $99. Afterwards, it occurred to me he was billing me for a synthetic blend now, and still not charging me for normal mineral oil I think there is a class action lawsuit in this. Are they deliberately pushing synthetic and not telling anyone what they are using? Frankly, I would love to get this oil checked. I would not be surprised if they put the cheapest grade possible in my truck and bank on the fact I won't check. I think I will send a sample in to be tested and find out what they sold me. I don't trust them at all. I don't think this was a miscommunication. I think it was someone deliberately screwing me over, and laughing about it afterward. I view this as stealing. They stole my money just as if they reached into my pocket and took it out of my wallet. As a side note, despite telling them I just had my rear differential serviced, the salesman tried to push this on me telling me it needed to be done every 500 miles! Absurd. Intervals for differentials are 30,000. I told this guy three times I did not need it done, and that the rear end was just rebuilt. In fact, my rear end had an excessive amount of wear and I don't know whether to attribute that to their prior service using substandard fluids or else wear resulting from the GM limited slip locking up. Bottom line: THES SHOPS ARE NOT TRUSTWORTHY. Who knows what they are pumping into your vehicle. read more

Nicholas, Jared, and Michael told my boyfriend that his transmission fluid was so low it was almost empty an hour before we left to go to Vermont (a 3 hour drive one way). My boyfriend went and bought more fluid to fill it some to make the trip. We didn't get as far as New Haven before the car started to smoke. The added fluid (which wasn't enough to overfil if it was as low as the service guy said) made the car over heat. Never go to this location. Really wish I would've read the reviews before going here, I usually go to the Milford location which is great but I was in the area and there wasn't a line so I gave it a shot. Normally with dealer oil changes I can go 5-7K miles without an oil change, so I was surprised when it was made a big deal that I was 2K over from the last time I brought the car in. Within a minute of pulling in, I was told that I had sludge in my engine, which was told to me immediately after I shared my mileage and they realized I was over. I very well could have it in there, but I really doubt it seeing that I've gone way longer without oil changes on this car and have never heard that from any tech. The entire time was them trying to sell me on something, which also makes me doubt that I had as much "wrong" with the car as they claimed I did...kept questioning me on the AC which I had been running for the past week with absolutely no issues. Windshield wipers, air filters which had been changed less than 2 months ago were said to be bad as well. Lastly, after checking my cabin filter, they left my glove compartment loose, as soon as I hit a bump in the road it came completely, fell to the floor of the car and spilled everything inside. I will stick with the Milford location from now on after this. UPDATE: I went in for my next oil change and they told me I had no sludge in the engine whatsoever, so that verifies that this location was LYING about the service I needed done. Do not ever go here!!! I purchased a full synthetic oil change voucher on Groupon hoping I'd save money, but I knew it was a gamble considering the type of cars we have. BMW didn't have an appt for week, and we were going away. A coworker suggested them. I had been to Valvoline in Stamford and usually had a good experience... besides the workers trying to flirt with me as I'm just trying to enjoy my 30 minutes of kid free peace. This location however. First the worker tells me I can use the Groupon because I purchased it that day. Fine no problem. I told him I'd come back tomorrow. He told me I really shouldn't as my oil was so bad, I shouldn't go another day?? He suggested I save it for my next oil change. Although, I knew I probably wouldn't be back, I figured we could use it on our Other car. I agreed. Second, he lied to me and told me he couldn't show me my current oil level, because my car doesn't have a dip stick, bmws have a computerized system. This was untrue, as the Valvoline in Stamford always shows me my dipstick. And my car is an 06 and not that advanced. Then he upsold me to some type of flush I found out I didn't need. He told me it was imperative because my car was over heating. Come to find out from the dealership, I had just had it done a few months ago. None the less I ended up paying almost 200 dollars for this visit. Had the work been done correctly, I wouldn't be complaining. But a month later my oil light came on. I took it to a mechanic immediately in which they told me all of my oil drained out and I had an oil leak... I was very upset. I called my husband who told me it was from me taking me car to Valvoline. As the workers are not trained professional mechanics. OMG! DO NOT go here! My husband just walked in because he needed a new washer for an oil valve. The man at the counter was so rude and actually said "No man-we can't help you if you didn't get your F'N oil changed here!" Are you kidding me?! My husband was soooo polite! My husband was changing our oil and the washer was worn on the oil valve - figured Valvoline would have a replacement since they change oil. The man said it was "inventory." My husband understood and proceeded to say he would purchase the valve also. ...this is when the man swore! I was here maybe a week ago and the mechanics were very nice and took care of my oil change quickly so that I was able to fit it in my lunch break and able to make it back on time. My car was also malfunctioning at the time and they were able to help me get it started so that I could take it in to the dealership for repair of the switch.
