Honestly, this is pretty much everything I'm hoping for in a coffee shop. Beans imported from other countries. Countries known for their coffee like Guatemala, Brazil, Ethiopia, etc. They also always give you free samples when you buy a bag of beans which is pretty cool. read more

Located in a bland strip mall across from Fullerton airport, this coffee shop was crammed full of people on a weekday early afternoon: Korean students camped out with their laptops, a young Korean mom with her children, a group of elderly Korean men and women...and one old goofy looking white guy (me). The interior is what I'd call minimalist-hipster. There are a lot of tables and they are obviously needed. The parking lot is far too small to accommodate patrons of this shop and the other businesses in the strip mall - I actually had to sit and wait for 3 or 4 minutes for someone to leave so I could park. After looking over the menu board I ordered a hot vanilla latte and a macadamia nut cookie with ice cream. The roll cake was also recommended by the young woman at the counter but the cookies looked too good to pass up. Both latte and dessert were kindly brought to my table. The two people working here were very friendly and checked on me a couple times. The latte was excellent. When I sit down in a coffee shop to relax, I want to start sipping my coffee right away so appreciate when it is served at a drinkable temperature as this latte was. The coffee was robust yet smooth, a very enjoyable drink. The cookie was large and soft. Both cookie and ice cream were good but priced too high. They take their coffee seriously here (they roast their beans in-house) and I'd definitely stop in again when I'm in the area. read more

The coffee was delish but my ultimate fave thing was the scones I have been looking for scones similar to the ones I've had in New Zealand and no luck until this morning. Thanks to my peeps (damn Koreans), Buena Park seems to be running out of affordable coffee shops. I don't know what it is with Koreans and their coffee but it seems like they don't want inexpensive coffee even if it's good. If it's less than $4 they automatically assume it's not good, and would prefer to go to a place that charges $5 and over. My wife and I drove around for about an hour in Buena Park trying to find a place that just serves regular coffee, not pour over, cold brew, nitro, etc. That turned out to be a task similar to chasing after a unicorn. We decided to try this place because Coffee Code is a ripoff and Stereoscope has horrible pastry. I like this place because it has quite a variety of items, and seems like all pastry items are made in-house. I really dig the cookies here. They are about $2.75 but they are massive, tasty, and soft. It's like a bread and cookie combined into one. Both the Peanut Butter and Healthy cookies tasted natural without leaving any nasty aftertaste. They looked and tasted very homemade. As far as the drinks, my wife and I liked the Toffee Nut Latte. Blueberry Coconut Tea was refreshing, although it tasted more like peach for some reason. This place offers coffee class Monday through Thursday from 7-9 p.m. Service was pretty good. One of the baristas was quite patient in helping my wife pick out a cold brew from its many choices of beans which are roasted in-house. It roasts and sells its own beans. It's located in a strip mall, across the street from Fullerton Municipal Airport. Place is rather cozy with a cool hipster vibe. As a result, there aren't too many available chairs and tables to sit. And of course, half of them were taken up by people studying or using their laptop. read more

Needed a place to do some work so I found this place while searching for coffee shops with wifi and also a recommendation from a friend. She liked this place so I decided to give it a try. I came at 5, and I wanted to try the brick toast because it looked good, but the cashier told me the kitchen is closed right then because they close it one hour before closing at 6. I had no clue they closed so early. My bad for not checking the hours, but it definitely feels like 6 is a bit early for a coffee shop like this. Maybe I'm just used to all the late night dessert and boba shops. The place was relatively empty so I had no problem finding a seat next to an outlet. Bought a walnut cookie so I wouldn't feel bad using he free wifi. The cookie was actually really good, it was the walnut oatmeal one. Not too sweet and it was a really fat cookie for only $2.75 I believe. Their service is pretty good as they gave me ice water in my water bottle when I asked. Also the cookie was a decent value. Overall, 4/5 mostly because the service was good and price was decent for the cookie, but I wished it stayed open a bit later so I could try the food. read more

After several visits, I must say that Van Dyke's has become one of my favorite coffee shops in the buena park area. I've always been a sucker for local restraunts, but the atmosphere inside is so cozy with good choice in music (mostly heard stuff Chet Fakerish during my visits) Their barista is pretty deece and knows how to make a decent cafe latte. The milk was boiled to perfection and the taste of the beans was fresh and perfect. The espresso was served neatly and was strong, but not overly bitter. This place also excells at making sweet drinks to satiate sugar cravings. Try the coconut latte if you want a sweet caffeine rush (tastes so comforting when served warm). Overall, great place to come and grab your tea and caffeine fix with a cozy atmosphere. Will come again next time I'm in the area, stay classy Van Dyke~ read more

Asked for recommendations and he recommended banana latte or coconut. Went with the coconut. So refreshing! I wish they had bigger sizes! I could've slurped that thing in less than 5 seconds. Downside to this coffee spot is that it's too far from me! Hahaha! But seriously, I have tried another coffee spot in Buena Park with the banana latte and this place made it better! I love their coffee! I had their vanilla latte (I always play it safe when it's my First time to test out the coffee) and it was great! I don't like my coffee too sweet and I do not like coffee Tasting burnt. I love their coffee here and will definitely be back again! They have a pretty nice menu with more choices than some small coffee shops. Must Try! read more

I want to like this place but the lattes are too weak in coffee flavor. It's mostly milk and very little espresso flavor. However many shots they currently add, they need to add 1 or half more for the right balance. This cafe has a pretty distinct taste compared to other Korean cafes but in a neutral way, not necessarily in a good way. The coffee is sorta watery rather than rich strong and creamy. I'm not sure if it's intentional or to cut costs (?) but I think they should reconsider their recipes. One thing they do right however is their customer service and pricing. I would give them 4.5 stars based on those things. I'm glad the prices didn't go up after inflation lol. I really want this place to do well but I think the drinks are lacking as it is. read more

I haven't gotten a coffee outside of my home since the pandemic and I couldn't help but get some today. The barista was very nice gave me recommendations on which beans to get so I'm excited to try them at home. She also have me a sample size of a different bean. Delicious coffee, great pastries, and good vibes all around! The baristas were very sweet and friendly, and gave us a free pastry because our pay hadn't gone through and they had to ask us back. Seating is hard to find because it's a bit small and this place is kind of popular. They roast their own beans (which all smell and taste amazing) and sell them! I like to get their pour over and try the different beans they offer that day/week, but their teas are really good, too. My personal favorite is Prince Vladimir. Van Duke is right next to a couple restaurants so it's the perfect place to go after for some chill coffee time. read more

That Oreo cranberry cookie is so soft and chewy and just hits your mouth like a incoming locomotive. It was probably one of my favorite Oreo creations so far. The dirty chai was also good. The customer service is excellent. Definitely worth checking out and make sure you wear your mask and practice social distancing. read more

Thanks again to yelp! Always looking for great coffee and this place nailed it! Hazelnut latte was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. I could taste the fullness of the roast without bitterness or the over roasting other places have make customerily (you the place). A beautiful pour as well as you might surmise from the attached photo. The cookie was thick and large enough to split for a treat with my lady. Quaint and relaxing. So worth the 11 minute drive from Knott's (after a cold winter's day there). Gonna grab a bag of beans to remind me of this find for this San Diego city boy. Move over Starbucks, you've got some new competition and by the taste of things, it's going to give you a run for your money. Brand new and only two months in business, Van Dyke Coffee Roasters is quickly making a name for itself. With coffee imported from Ethiopia, Columbia and Guatemala, it's obvious this new coffee shop will be a big hit in the O.C. Order: With a great variety of drinks to choose from, we decided to order an affogato and coconut latte hot. The affogato had 4 shots of espresso with 2 full scoops of vanilla ice cream. Van Dyke definitely has that special touch when it comes to making drinks, with the barista mixing the simplest of ingredients together to create such a flavorful and great tasting beverage. The amount given was plenty! The coconut latte not too sweet and not to milky, it was just right. Another perfectly made drink. Price: Most drinks priced under $5.00. Some might say pricey but I rather pay more than get something mediocre elsewhere. Service: Cheerful, helpful and prompt. I enjoyed the added artwork in the latte and appreciated the barista delivering our drinks to our table. Great customer service, i like it. As I slowly begin to delve farther into the world of mocha's and lattes, Van Dykes as quickly became one of my go to places for specialty drinks. Van Dykes is a nicely setup coffee shop in a strip mall style center across from the Fullerton Airport. They serve up a nice selection of coffees and Korean style desserts and the service is always quite friendly and the orders have come out correctly and promptly each time I have been here. My go to drinks are the strawberry or banana lattes (the strawberry here is far better than the one served at Coffee Code up the street in my opinion). The drinks here tend to be less sweet than some of the other places I have had them and for me that is a good thing. They also have a large selection of mocha's, smoothies, teas, affogatos and desserts such as waffles, brick toast, honey bread etc... Be sure to grab a stamp card at the register to use and earn free drinks (I always forget until after I have ordered and see others use it). I have not yet tried any of the dessert options but with my go to for Brick Toast no longer in business, I will definitely need to check this out sometime down the line. If there was any drawback for me to Van Dykes over other similar coffee style joints in the area it is the pricing is a bit on the higher side and the upcharge for iced beverages over hot beverages is a bit ridiculous in my opinion (although I am beginning to see this more and more). A small latte here is 5.25 and I can get the same beverage elsewhere for less money but the quality is good overall so I can't complain too much as I know that coming in. Overall, this is a quality joint in North Orange County that I am sure to continue visiting many more times to come. I will definitely be back to check out some of the dessert options sometime soon. read more

Came here tonight after hanging out with my brother. I was dead tired and needed a pick me upper to take my booty back home to Rosemead. Decor/Ambiance: Modern with a lot of tables and chairs. Great place to chat up a storm and do some studying. Service: Absolutely lovely! Justin (owner) and his barista was very friendly and recommended some wonderful drinks. I ended up getting the Kenyan pour over. Not sure if he does this to everyone, but he hooked me up with another one (Guatemalan). Drinks came out pretty fast. While he was pouring hot water on the coffee grounds, I had a great talk with him. He is very knowledgeable about coffee and also teaches people how to make coffee. I would definitely attend a class or two when he does offer them. Coffees of choice: I got the Kenyan and Guatemalan pour over. Never had Kenyan before so I decided to take the plunge and see how it tasted. The coffee was really good and was able to point out the the chocolate aroma. The guatemalan was equally as good. It also depends on your preference. Tip: Say No No No on the sugar. Drink it black! :) My overall experience was very pleasant! Justin and his helper were very helpful and knowledgeable about their products. Coffee tasted great and I came home with two drinks instead of one! Would definitely come back when I'm visiting friends or family. read more

The written menu advertises nondairy milk and ingredient modifications, but the kiosk doesn't actually let you select any of them. Staff told us to put substitutions in "special comments" and promised they'd be honored. They weren't- on a single order, twice. We ordered two coffees (oat milk, whole milk) and two customized breakfast burritos. It took 40 minutes. We were the only customers in the cafe. When the food came out, nothing was labeled / not the drinks, not the burritos- and staff couldn't tell us which was which. When I explained that one of us has a dairy allergy and asked them to identify the allergen-free items, I got a blank stare. We opened both burritos: both had cheese, despite my explicit no-cheese request. Their solution? "Can you pick it out?" No. You cannot pick out melted cheese from an allergen order. I was not offered a fresh burrito, just another blank stare until I specifically stated "I need you to remake this with the proper ingredients and confirm what you put in." Once again the burrito came out with no label, and when I asked for clarity on what was in it I was again met me with a blank stare. My partner's burrito was also wrong (pico she'd asked to have removed), but by then the 40-minute wait had made her late for work. When I asked for a refund on her incorrect meal, I was told they couldn't refund it "because she left." When I asked to leave written feedback: "we don't accept written feedback." Manager? Not in. Manager's phone number? Don't have it. But here's what pushed this from bad service to abominable: there is no way to hold this place accountable. At no point did anyone acknowledge a mistake had been made or make any real attempt to fix it- every wrong order was met with a shrug and the expectation that I'd just live with it. When I asked to leave written feedback, I was told they don't accept it. When I asked for the manager, they weren't in. When I asked for a manager's phone number or someone to contact, the employee "didn't have access to that." A business that serves people with food allergies MUST have a way for customers to flag problems in real time and reach management. This place has built a system where mistakes can't be reported, refunds can't be issued, and no one is responsible for anything. To be clear, this isn't on the line staff - one employee clearly hadn't been given the language support or training to succeed, and that's a management failure. The other younger employee was just incompetent and unhelpful, even though she was clearly aware of the requests. If you advertise allergen accommodations, you have to execute them, label them, and answer for it when you don't. Until this place fixes its ordering system, its labeling, and its total lack of accountability, spend your money literally anywhere else.

When I bit into them, I could actually taste and feel the fibrous banana strings, which made the drink less enjoyable. The banana syrup could be improved by using fully ripe bananas and taking the extra time to remove the fibrous strings before making the syrup. While it does require more preparation, it would make a noticeable difference. Ripe bananas are naturally sweeter, and removing the strings would eliminate much of the bitterness while creating a smoother, creamier syrup and cold foam. I also ordered the regular Matcha Latte, and personally, I found it more enjoyable than the Banana Matcha. That said, my all-time favorite drink here is still the Butter Honey Latte. It's incredibly creamy, rich, and full of flavor. I highly recommend giving that one a try!

Kkeu-deok is Korean-style thick yogurt that is thicker (think almost cream cheese like in consistency), a little drier, and due to the straining process, has more protein! Why hasn't this caught on in the states yet, I do not know... but it should! If you want to customize your own bowl, it works similarly to getting an acai bowl. You'll choose a yogurt base and how many scoops you want of it, of which they have a few flavors. Went for blueberry this time and it had delicious chunks of blueberry mixed in. Then you choose your toppings like freshly cut fruit, some sweeter options like mochi, things like honey and agave to drizzle/mix in, along with honey granola. The folks working there were also super kind and patient and were willing to walk us through the process as new customers. The fruit is delicious and very fresh, though the strawberries were definitely on the tart side. The yogurt isn't too sweet, but it's also surprisingly not that tart. So if you're expecting Greek yogurt level of tart, you won't get that BUT they do sell a grape yuzu yogurt that might be up your alley! You see, they sell packaged yogurt in to go friendly containers with some interesting flavors, so we ended up getting yuzu grape and banana pudding. I'm a banana pudding FIEND and I say that this is one of the best variations of banana pudding I've had anywhere. AND it's healthy and has lots of protein! Very Disappointing Experience -- Poor Customer Service…read more A friend of mine came to visit from out of state, and since she had been looking forward to having Korean patbingsu (shaved ice with sweet red beans) while visiting the U.S., we decided to go to Sulbing. We ordered patbingsu, bungeoppang (Korean fish-shaped pastry), and an iced café latte. All three items were placed together on one tray. Before eating, I took a picture to post on Instagram. Then, when I picked up the iced latte to take a sip, the lid came off because it had not been properly secured, and the entire drink spilled all over my clothes. I immediately told the staff that the lid had not been properly closed. Instead of apologizing or offering any help, the employees insisted that they had definitely closed it properly and that they had heard the lid "click." They basically said it was not their fault. What was even more upsetting was that they then walked into the kitchen and left us without offering any assistance at all. We asked for something to clean up the mess, but they told us that the tissues were outside and that it was self-service. They simply handed me a mop and expected me to clean everything myself. I was honestly shocked by the lack of basic courtesy and customer service. I went to the restroom and tried to clean my clothes with water as best I could. When I came back out, I saw the two employees inside the kitchen laughing and chatting together. At that point, I was extremely upset. Despite everything, I stayed because my friend had traveled a long way and had really wanted to try the patbingsu and bungeoppang. We tried to enjoy our food, but the whole experience left a very unpleasant impression. Later, when I looked again at the latte photo I had taken for Instagram before the spill, I could clearly see that the lid was not properly sealed. I don't usually write negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I felt I needed to share it. Mistakes can happen, and I would have understood if the staff had simply apologized and tried to help. What was most upsetting was the attitude afterward -- no apology, no assistance, and no basic courtesy. I will not be returning to this location.
