It's hard to find an honest mechanic as a young woman with no automotive knowledge. Barry, the owner of Van Ginkel Automotive, had one of his employees go to AutoZone to get the car battery I had just purchased and installed it for me at no cost. When I asked him about something another mechanic told me, Barry told me the other mechanic was trying to scam me and nothing was actually wrong! Ya, not going to say anything anyone else hasn't already: such a great find. I dropped my car off really late in the day (4-ish) and Barry still managed to take a look and give me a call that evening. Had it back by the next morning, and it sounds like the only reason it took that long is because he didn't have the brake pads I needed in stock. He is always very busy but tries his best to squeeze you in. He opens at 6am and works M-F with Saturday being half a day. Barry is the best!!!! We were referred to him by a friend and I couldn't be more thankful. He is so honest and will explain what's going on and what to look out for. One of our cars was flashing that the engine was over heating and to shut the car off so we decided to take it to a local shop since Barry's shop is 40 min away and we weren't sure what was going on. The shop we took it to said there is a major leak in the radiator and one of the reservoir is empty and we have to replace the entire radiator ($2600). We asked them to fill the empty reservoir with fluid so that we can drive it over to Barry and when we picked it up they said they just filled it half way....no joke. We got it over to Barry and he said that the caps were the issue and there was zero leak once the proper pressure was put in place (it ended up being less than $25). He could have easily gone with what the others said and when I tried showing him the paper with the diagnosis he said he doesn't need it and doesn't base his diagnosis off of what others say. If you are looking for an honest, trustworthy mechanic that does great work I HIGHLY recommend Barry and his team!! read more
