All other reviews are lies. Scammers through and through. Took my vehicle in and was told it would be 700 for the repair. It took them 2 weeks to be done with it. I've never in my life had to leave my car somewhere for two weeks so that was the first alarm. When I got in they have done other stuff to my car and said I approved for them to spend 700 dollars altogether instead of what they told me the problem was. I get my car back it breaks down immediately and I call them angrily and they take it in for another two days. I get it back out and it breaks down again. I had to act cool to get the receipt and schematics to the repairs they said they did. I then took it into another mechanic who looked at it for free and told me they didn't do any of the repairs and it's common for sleezy mechanics to throw extra things on to keep the bill higher and they get you to sign after not before the repairs. Always sign before to approve! The problems that are actually wrong with my car have nothing to do with what they said it was. Complete scam artists never go here! read more

I called ahead of time for certified break and light inspection, confirmed yes they offer that service. Their hours 8 am - 5 pm, I get there at 8 am and get an apology that they are really not ready for any services until 8:30 am. Go in a Saturday to be told in person that they did Not recertify their license for that service. Not Happy. read more

I called numerous so called mechanics for 2 years looking for someone to fix and smog my Audi, for 2 years I was rejected by those wannabe mechanics. The worst repair shop I have ever been in. I brought my 2004 Mini Cooper to put the drive belt on after I called in to get an estimate which they told me $40 and I towed the car to them. And I found out they are very unprofessional, they didn't have the right tools. And they wanted to charge me more than what the dealer would charge me. So after half an hour work on the car finally they told me we will put the car together and you can take it to another shop. And they didn't even help me to get the car to the other shop. Where to start. Words cannot describe how Thankful I am for the kindness and honesty offered by Chris. Many Mechanics try to rob us females thinking we do not know S**t about cars. He is officially my mechanic for life. I had to get my brakes fixed, AC was not working, Tail light was out. I called different shops and they kept quoting me an arm and a leg. Chris asked me to bring my car in. He was so kind. Didn't try sell me anything I did not need. Fixed my brakes, AC, light for 60% of what the other mechanics were offering. To top things off, changed my blades for free. I was so humbled by his kindness. Offered him a tip that he politely declined. I insisted he said no. Instead he requested me to be kind to others. Treat people the way I want to be treated. That is all he asked for. I insisted and said he should give the money to the guys in shop but them coffee or something. He cares about this employees. No wonder this place has 5 star reviews! A mechanic you can trust! I was so worried (especially being a girl) of finding a fair mechanic in the area. I usually go to my mobile mechanic (Tony Martin is amazing!) but he's sort of limited to what he can do and I needed new brakes. So I turned to Yelp and followed up with Van Nuys Autoworks and two other places with 5 star reviews. Not only was Autoworks the cheapest of the 3, but Chris also had the best phone demeanor. Chris and his crew got my car in and out. My only gripe is that the shop is kind of tricky to find because its on Oxnard blvd. which is basically a row of auto repair shops! I called in today for a quote for an oil change and brake change. I was told months ago that I should replace my brake but of course I didn't... Naturally, I was concern about the breaks. Chris quoted me under $200 for the oil change and brake change and even offered to pick me up from and to work. I dropped my car off during lunch and it was ready for me after work. Total $20 with the yelp discount for the oil change alone. Turns out my brakes still have about 40% left and there is no need to change them. He also rotated my tires and cleaned my headlights a little since they were foggy. I've been in need of a brake and light inspection for some time. Other places have been looking to charge me at the very least, 95$. I found this place on yelp, came in and received great service! The certificate was 77$ but he recommended that I do a yelp check in and scratch off those 7$! In addition, he polished my headlights and popped out my door. Love these guys! I failed my smog a few months back, smog zone sent me here. They fixed it in 5 mins and it passed. Recently I got totally taken advantage of by a so called " women friendly" mechanic. Luckily, I only got an overpriced oil change from the other guys before I wised up and came here. I was quoted $580 for wheel barring, hub and serpentine belt from the first place I went to. I came here and they told me the wheel barring and hubs were fine. It was only a sensor on my break that was making noise. The other guys would have charged me close to $600 bucks and my car still wouldn't have been fixed. Like taking candy from a baby. Maybe I'm so oblivious but since the noise wasn't coming from when I was breaking I didn't know what it was. Long story short this was the third auto shop I went to to get this resolved and I will always come back. Nice guys and affordable rates.
