Had an appt on a Tuesday morning @9:30am and went in for a simple oil change. I was quoted $149.99 for oil change and tire rotation. I was told the wait time was going to be 2 1/2 hrs at the most if not sooner. Waited until 1 pm. No call. So I ended up calling and was advised that my car is in the wash and in 20 minutes, it will be ready. I got there at 1:30pm, paid for the works and discovered that my car was driven up without a carwash. Despite the fact that they specifically told me that it was in process of getting a wash when I called, I was just mind boggled what they did for four hrs that my car was there. Horrible service! Slow response! Unprofessional staff! Had a horrifying experience leasing a car last year at this dealer, and this today... OMG NEVER COMING NEAR THIS DEALER EVER AGAIN!!! read more

I originally posted a 5 star review at the time of our lease. HOWEVER we purchased a service package at the time and were told it would be honored at any California Kia dealership and possibly some out of state. Simply untrue. We set a service appointment at a different dealership near our home for a basic oil and filter change. Thankfully when I set the appointment online I made a note that we had a contract. They called the day before to tell me they would not honor the service agreement. I live in Ventura county and the only reason I bought the service contract was that it was supposedly statewide. I've now left three messages with van nuys Kia finance department to contact me re this issue and Haven't had the courtesy of a return call. Finance is who sold it to me and who I expect to contact me to discuss cancelling and refund. Moral of the story: sales department was good an honest but don't spend a dime with the finance for add ons. They are not honest and do nothing after the sale to address customer problems. Yes I should've known better, but I've never been directly lied to in a car deal. Exaggerations etc.. sure it's part of sales but this was a lie about a key factor in why I bought the contract and never a return call. read more

I was really concerned about this dealership after reading the negative comments, so I approached my purchase experience with a lot of caution and trepidation. I did deal with some of the Van Nuys employees mentioned in the negative comments, and the comments matched my negative experience with them. BUT THEN, I got lucky to be connected with Jessenya, and WOW, what a difference! Yes, the price on the website didn't end up being the final price of the car due to after-market add-ons, BUT, from the first few minutes Jessenya laid it all out, and was as transparent as possible. That was a moment that changed my mind, and put me in a more comfortable mindset to trust the information I'm getting from Jessenya, and it reduced my fear of getting hit with negative surprises once I do go to the dealership to meet in-person. Long story short, everything she communicated was reliable and firm, she got all the information needed to have all the paperwork ready before I got to the dealership, and had the car all prepped while we dealt with the finance person. She made the experience one of the best I've had so far (and I've bought cars every year since 2016, either for me or for other family members), with a quick in-and-out of the dealership with our awesome new Kia Sportage! Within an hour, I was communicating with everyone on the team, from my first online contact, Cynthia, to the General Manager. When I arrived at the dealership the sales associate, Omar, made my job easy by explaining all possible scenarios in a clear and simple way and explained the best possible option for me. I was pleasantly surprised to see Omar's patient and friendly approach, as opposed to the typical overly passionate and deceitful nature that one might expect in a dealership. There were no pressure or uncomfortable moments during this transaction. Had a great experience this morning at this location. I booked an oil change and tire rotation which I normally don't do at the dealer but the price was right so I did. They are about a half a mile away so I figured no problem. When I got there I was informed the website was wrong and the price was almost double. I kindly asked if they would honor my price I booked it at and after asking nicely twice they agreed. Fast forward to paying and they actually did BETTER for me and saved me money. I have been recovering from major surgery and not working so every penny counts. I appreciated the kindness tremendously. The only thing I didn't dig was a lack of mask wearing throughout the dealership but you can only do so much I guess. I know not everyone adheres to this and I can't make anyone do it but 2 people were allowed to sit in the waiting area with no masks for at least an hour. read more

I try to avoid posting anything on any social network platform, including Yelp, but when someone goes above and beyond all expectations, I would be remiss to not publicly acknowledge a sales person as delightful and helpful as Tariq Alhunaiti at Van Nuys Kia. My wife and I had been there a few months before, and we were introduced to someone forgettable, and treated as one might expect at any car agency, with nothing special to report or negative to say. But on the day we went back and bought a car, I'm sure it was just the luck of the draw for us to have the good fortune of having Tariq as our salesman. He was more than that. He was even an 'advocate' when it came to negotiations. There aren't enough words to describe how delightful Tariq is as a person. We engaged in some very tough, but fair negotiations on pricing and even financing warranty products throughout the process, but before all was said and done, Tariq's competency, patience, good sense of humor, and willingness to go the extra mile for us, all wrapped up in his heartwarming and ever present genuine smile, made buying a car into something so pleasant, that by the end of the day, it ended with a big hug! He is as authentic and caring as the day is long. We feel like we made a friend for life and it is our privilege to count him as such. I should also mention that Eric Bradanovic in the Financing Department was also very professional and worked hard for us to get only the extended warranties that made the most sense for us. He too is to be commended. Between them, we would give MORE than 5 Stars if we could. On the flip-side, we cannot adequately express our extreme disappointment with Kia Corporate (not the Van Nuys agency) and their relatively rude HR Department. When filling out a system generated 'Survey' sent to us by e-mail, we did not check certain boxes with "Yes" because they were not applicable to us. We had no way of knowing it would hurt Tariq's 'score'. We then got a relatively calloused e-mail from their HR Department apologizing that Tariq had 'failed' our expectations, and made it clear that him getting only '960' out of a possible '1,000' would have a direct deleterious impact upon his 'report card' with both the Kia headquarters and his Van Nuys agency. We immediately wanted to protest the misunderstanding and what they improperly inferred from the 'Survey', and have tried several times to set the record straight for Tariq, but the HR Department was not only slow to respond to our phone calls and emails, once we got through, no amount of pleading or explanations was going change their minds about our experience with Tariq. This is very, very unfair to him, and speaks poorly of Kia as a Corporation, so this is another reason why my wife and I felt compelled to write this review in the most glowing terms possible, because we cannot overstate what a great asset Tariq Alhunaiti is to Kia. They don't deserve him! In the last analysis we got a fair price on the Serento Hybrid SUV that we bought and love... but we love Tariq even more, while Kia as a company has left a very bad taste in our mouths for not being willing to hear us out or change the 'score' on the 'Survey' we filled out with the intentions of only singing his praises. I changed to this dealership for my 3rd leased KIA ev because they offered the best deal and had the car I wanted. It took over 6 months and many phone calls to get my second set of keys. A year later now that used cars are at a premium, they sent me a car offer that they cannot fulfill. I spoke with them on the phone to confirm the deal, and they still had me drive an hour round trip knowing they did not have the car they were offering. After doing some research online looking for a manual transmission vehicle I came across the Kia forte GT and was instantly interested in the car. I told my best friend to go with me to the dealership to test drive the car and to see if I liked the vehicle. We walked into Kia and was instantly greeted by Ramon Vallejo. I drive 15 miles to get there again only to provide something that could've been done over the phone. (Request my bank statements.) so I did. And we were good. I was good until then. But today a week after that incident they contact me again for the exact same documents I gave them previously. Stay away from this dealer if you wanna have a break job done under warranty they will not repair, they will put you life and you family life in danger making you drive like that. First time I took it in for oil change and for the brakes, I got call back about 2/3 hours later and they told me they cannot repair under warranty and that I have to pay out off pocket witch I know is manufacture problem and it's under warranty and day tried to blame on me. So when I went to pick up my car I told them don't give that bullshit and try to sell a break job. Than I had to make the service advisor to write on the paper work that im having a break issues. Than Service adviser told me that I need to drive drive 250 miles and then bring it back so they can do it under warranty and at one point I was going to crash. I did took it back they keep the car for couple of hours and they determine that I have to take the vehicle whoever I purchased a vehicle so they can do the warranty work on it So basically they put my life and my family's life in danger and they waist my time and did not repair. I'm writing about my second visit to Van Nuys Kia, second oil change, nothing dramatic. The first visit I was immediately assured by the calm and cordial demeanor of their service department. To say that you need to have trust and assurance in the people looking after your car is an understatement, particularly since I purchased my Kia used from a Toyota dealer. Some things were under warranty, some things weren't, and it was a little frustrating that I couldn't get everything done that I wanted covered by the warranty. Two diagnostic fees were initially assessed that could have gone towards repairs and I was on edge most of the day that they might be "out to get me." When I picked up my car in that afternoon, the diagnostics turned out to be fine, with no charges, and only $89 charged for my oil change. What literally shocked the crap out of me was that the car was gorgeously detailed, inside and out: there is something about seeing your Rich Espresso (i.e. dark brown) Kia all cleaned up.
