Made a service appointment for a recall on my car, the 3rd recall in one year. When I arrived 10 mins early to my appointment, I was told they needed to see if they could even see my car. If you have to question if you can fit me in, why even schedule an appointment if you are not sure if you can fix my car. He says he can take my car, but its going to be about 6 and a half hours, on the phone I was told no more than 4 hours. I had to ask about a waiting area or a ride home, but was told I could only get a ride 5 miles round trip. Now I know why my Seltos was so cheap, because Kia has the worst customer service. Experienced a bait and switch stunt yesterday. Had a deal after spending hours texting and talking to sales person. I set up an appointment to finalize the deal and went to the dealership to purchase the car. When it came time to finalize the paperwork, they added almost $2,000 of "accessories" to the deal (paint and interior protection) all 100% profit. The "deal" we had was completely ignored. They tried to switch to another car with a color I was not interested in. Additionally they added an amount above MSRP. Monthly payment shot up $70 per month and drive increased by almost $500. I had a pretty good experience working with Kia Van Nuys. While I did not get the price that I wanted, they came somewhat close. I also understand that the market is tough and considering - they did the best they could for the times. I made a deal to buy and then changed my mind at the last minute to lease, which they were able to accommodate at a reasonable rate. I was able to solidify everything over the phone and they made the process very easy - cut, dry, and to the point. I was in dire need of a car and did not want to deal with any hassle. I purchased a 2018 Dodge Charger from them the same day I drove off the lot the touch screen started messing up and they never mentioned anything about it. So I call them the same day and they tell me they'll fix it free of charge. I go in a week later due to me being busy with work and they tell me they are not responsible even though I called them not even 5 mins after driving off the lot explaining the issue. It is my belief and opinion, Van Nuys Kia is pushing the limits of the advertising laws of California, in their approach to selling used vehicles and I do believe they are taking advantage of their clients who do not have experience of being in the automotive industry or haven't purchased many vehicles in the past. My husband and I were at Van Nuys Kia on December 5, 2020, to test drive an advertised vehicle, which happened to be a 2019 Subaru Outlook 2.5L Limited we liked the vehicle on the test drive. When we returned from the test drive, the salesman Brian advised my husband Nitro is in the tires, a GSP locator, Paint Protection, and Door Protection Edges for and an additional $1795.00. I shook my head at my husband to let him know not to worry about it, it was just a sales tactic. We sat down with Brain, He told us he could sell the car to us for the advertised amount plus the $1795.00. First, I attacked the advertised price. When I got them to agree to a different advertised price. I moved onto the additional $1795.00 added to the vehicle. I told them I didn't want the products they needed to be removed. Yes, they will come back and counter with you for the additional stuff they added. Finally, when they kept insisting on the purchase of products I asked them for vendor invoices to prove the work had been completed. If their Service Department Mechanics did the work there will be an internal repair order expensing the labor and parts they used and applied to the vehicle. When negotiating hold onto one item at a time. Make them do the work if they want to sell the car. In our case not many people are looking for a Subaru Outback at Kia Dealership, it had already been in their inventory for over 60 days with rental history. Also, the Sales Manager came over to try and tell me the car was worth more than what we were purchasing the vehicle for. My response was then" if you think you can sell the car for more, why did you advertise the car for less money"? Know the history of the vehicle. Brian( salesman) is either new or doesn't know advertisement laws in California, because he stated to me "the additional equipment was listed in the advertisement". "I told Brian he was wrong, but if he can find an advertisement that states the additional equipment was added to the vehicle and the advertisement is current, we consider buying the additional equipment". Needless to say, Brian never produced an advertisement for the vehicle we were purchasing. Van Nuys Kia took the celebratory factor out of purchasing a vehicle because you have to fight for every damn thing. They wear you down. If someone I know is in the market for a Kia, I would never recommend Van Nuys Kia! The standard procedure for a dealership when they purchase an out-of-state vehicle before they put it up for sale they get the vehicle verified by a licensed verifier. The license plates and registration hadn't been received by March 2021. I spoke with Rosel in Accounting Department she handles processing the DMV application During my phone conversation on March 16, 2021, with Rosel she stated she phone us. We hadn't received any phone calls, emails, or letters from Van Nuys Kia. What was holding up the completion of processing the application for registration with California DMV the vehicle needed to be verified! The main reason a vehicle needs to be verified is that California DMV doesn't have any record of the vehicle. Therefore, the vehicle is an out-of-state vehicle. I was rather upset with Van Nuys Kia because they waited for me to contact them, they knew they had a problem with registration in January 2021 when Van Nuys Kia only post fee of a transfer fee of $15.00 to avoid penalties from the DMV. In other words, Van Nuys Kia knew they needed verification. Eventually, the registration was resolved but they let the client/consumer do all the work; sending photos of the odometer, emission label, and vin# plate on the dashboard. I noted to Rosel the total fees Van Nuys Kia paid to the DMV was $397.00 however on our retail contract $409 was collected for the DMV fee a difference of $12.00 Van Nuys Kia a refund due. Rosel stated she cuts checks once a month for DMV refunds. Van Nuys Kia lacks customer service no ownership of the delay in processing the application for registration and mainly my time to fix their problem. Van Nuys Kia has a cultural problem of treating customers with disrespect is not a dealership who proactive in resolving issues before they become an issue for the consumer. I also gave the general manager Arnold Gonsalves a heads up regarding the issues I had with the accounting department on March 23, 2021. To date, he has not responded to my email. Therefore, the culture of Van Nuys Kia starts at the top. read more

Late review from last year. I came in for an oil change and asked about the recall about my car's engine. Jonathan was very attentive and really went out of his way to make sure my car qualified for the recall. It was a two week process to get the engine replaced, but Jonathan gave me regular updates - even sent an Uber so that I could drop my car off. I had the absolute best car buying experience of my life yesterday. The sales staff was friendly and informative. I worked with Arnold and Jorge. As a single woman, purchasing a vehicle has not always been fun in the past (intimidation, stalling tactics, down-talking, etc), but they were so respectful and straight forward, I really appreciated that. My car was totaled 11 days ago when a driver running from the police ran a stop sign and hit me as I was in the intersection. This morning my insurance company deposited the settlement for my wrecked car into my account. I loved my Kia Forte Koup and so I got an Uber and headed to Van Nuys Kia to purchase a replacement vehicle. As I walked in the door, I was greeted by Brandon who asked me if I needed any help. I told him what had happened and mentioned I saw the vehicle I wanted to purchase in their online inventory. He said the vehicle had just arrived yesterday and immediately tracked it down. We then went on a test drive before we sat down to talk about numbers. Brandon explained the various costs associated with the purchase and then handed me over to the Finance Manager, Delmy, who finished up the final paperwork for my car purchase. In my life, I have purchased 4 new vehicles, and this one by far was the easiest transaction. Once all the paperwork was completed, Brandon notified me that he had had my car washed and gassed up for me. He then proceeded to help me connect to the Access app and set up the Bluetooth connection to my phone. He called my phone to give me his number in case I had any additional questions. He also explained how to use the navigation system , the radio system, and made sure the computer was set for the correct time before I drove home. Later on as I was reviewing all my paperwork, I emailed Delmy to ask where my temporary registration was. Within minutes, she emailed me back to let me know that it was the sticker on my windshield. HORRIBLE customer service. I recently bought a 2023 Kia Soul from this dealership and my experience with the sales team was good, however, a month after having my brand new Kia, I started to get Safety System alerts on my dashboard. Working with the service department has been a NIGHTMARE. I took my car in 3 times to address the safety system alerts. The third time they kept my car for two-days and was not able to provide me with a loaner vehicle for those days which meant I had no way to get to work for those two days, but I was willing to work with them with no issue because I needed my car fixed. After receiving the car back, a week later the same alerts appeared on my dashboard. I called again to schedule an appointment and was told they would have to keep the car again for a few days, I let them know that I would need a rental/loaner vehicle this time around because I can't continue to miss work. Angel the service manager told me I was "first on his list" to get a rental once one became available. He told me he would follow up with me but that was not true, as I ended up having to be the one to follow up with him, as he never made any outgoing calls to me regarding this issue. About a month after waiting on "his list" for a rental, he eventually stopped answering my calls and I left a voicemail letting him know I would be speaking with corporate regarding the lack of professionalism I have been experiencing with their service department. I called the service department to schedule my own appointment because I'm concerned about my safety driving this car while safety alerts keep coming up on my dashboard. I was planning to risk missing work at this point to get the issue resolved. I was able to finally speak with Angel and expressed to him that a follow-up would've been appreciated regarding this manner. Angel was VERY rude and condescending on the call. Im surprised he's even a manager with the lack of professionalism he has. He stated that because I said I was calling corporate he figured they could help me out so that's why he didn't call me back. He proceeded to yell on the phone at which point I ended the call. In summary, I regret ever purchasing a Kia from this dealership. Don't come here if your vehicle requires maintenance. read more
