I had a horrible experience with this dealer. They have several vehicle specials for a kia optima lx on their website (I have attached the picture from their site). They advertise the vehicles for $15,817 but after a verbal discussion where they said they would honor their website pricing, they sent me an email that said "hey Thad it's Starr just following up with you my manager just got back to me with your out the door price thank you for being patient with me . OUT THE DOOR price would be $21,622.38 ON THE STOCK : KO2500 reply or call me with any questions or concerns " When I inquired why the price is not the same (I understand tax, title and licensing needs to be added but thats not $4,800), they said because I had to buy the $1,800+ worth of accessories that they added to the car. Came in with a service appointment and told that I would have to leave the car 2 to 3 days to run a diagnostic for a speaker issue. Advisor told me to come in on Saturday morning and I could have the car back by end of day. I go in on Saturday and no one knows what I'm talking about and I would have to leave the car over the weekend. I don't normally write negative reviews but this is not the first time I've had similar issues with this dealership. Never coming back here again. Car has been in "service" over a MONTH and still no update. Service Dept. is absolutely horrible DO NOT BRING YOUR KIA HERE! I was advised that it might take a few days to diagnose my car since they're short technicians which was okay since my Kia had to be towed in due to it seizing itself and being unable to drive I had no other option, they took it in and made it seem like it's our fault for bringing cars in (more like a YOU problem for not managing your Dept. correctly) Insurance and car payment don't have a pause button so that's always fun paying for a car I can't use. I have to check in on them to receive updates which usually answer by just not answering or hanging up your call, or my favorite where they say they know nothing and that your service advisor assigned to your car is busy or not there so try later. This dealer either needs to shut down their service dept. or light a fire under the service dept. manager's office chair because they're quick to try and buy my car but I can't even do that if it's not getting fixed yet. read more

Everything! Over the phone before I even came in the customer service was bad, but came for in person service and it is even worse. My first time visiting and as soon as I walk in with my Elderly Grandfather 82. Several people are either holding personal conversations or on their personal cell phones. My grandfather walks up to the desk of one of the female employees and ask her if she can help him. She gets a call to her personal cell phone and proceeds to take the call while signaling to my grandfather with her finger that she will be back because she needs to take the cal. She walks away and ask another employee to help. No one looks up to even speak or ask can we be assisted. Only Person got it right from jump was Walter. This guy was on it! Matter fact he had a line of 3 women waiting to only speak to him. He was so friendly and compassionate. He addressed our concerns and made sure that all of our needs were taken care of . Dude needs to work for another Dealership. I would not recommend this place to anyone but if you are stuck with Kia only deal with Walter, try another dealership or simply purchase a car from somewhere else. I have a Honda and a Mercades but from the way myself and my family were treated today I will never purchase a Kia. Thanks again Walter for salvaging the experience. read more

This is the third time I've had issues with Van Nuys Kia and so I think it's finally time to say some thing. The last time it was something simple as hey I'm gonna be in the lobby if you can come and get me when the car is done being serviced, and they never called me and I had to wait an extra two hours. No apology no accountability. Today I called in because my key fobs weren't working, and I asked if they know what to do. The guy said well bring your car in and we'll take a look at it. I said you might not be hearing me. I can't get into my car in order to bring it in. Are you saying I should get a tow? For some reason he got defensive, he said well, I told you what to do already, but you're not listening and then put me on hold. I bought my car from this dealership 2 years ago. The first time I brought it in because my check engine light came on was about 8 months after purchase. My car ended up being in the service center for 2 MONTHS! Nobody ever communicates with you here. They don't tell you what's wrong or how long it will take to fix it. Brought my car in for ANOTHER check engine light 3 weeks ago. Still haven't been given a real time table for when my car will be done. They keep saying they will get back to me and then they never do. The call center to get in touch with the service center is TERRIBLE. Every time I call I get put on hold for at least 20 mins. Finally got a hold of my service person and had to get his personal number so I don't have to deal with their rude call service that never directs me to the right person. I'm still waiting on my car and haven't been able to get a response. Last week they told me by the end of the week. This week they still have "no news." Honestly if I could give them NEGATIVE stars I would. I have been so disrespected here and they truly do not care about you or your time. Nobody actually puts in effort to communicate what's happening and why they can't give you a real answer. I wish I had never bought a Kia with these people. I hope that next time I have a problem I'm able to bring it to another service center that is going to give me real service and at least let me know if something is going to take longer than expected. They refuse to give me a loaner car even when they've been delayed for 2 weeks on the original estimate. This place should be ashamed for how they treat their customers. read more

Adding an update to my existing review. Short story: Got great service again by Ismael (and Aimee). Longer story: walked in with a dead 12V battery on my EV, and i had in hand an extended service contract I purchased when I bought off the car. I was under the impression it would cover the battery, but you know those documents, pretty long and dense. Aimee looked at it, asked Ismael, they thought it didn't, but I politely pushed back a bit. They weren't defensive/confrontational at all and just suggested calling the insurance to make sure. Eventually the rep found for us the exact place in the contract that says the 12V battery is not covered. Item 15 on the 1 millionth page (yeah, I'm being hyperbolic..). Of course, I just thanked them for checking all this instead of just telling me to get lost, still got the battery anyways, and they kindly offered me a discount and a wash. Of course first best would have been to get the battery/install covered, but second best is still getting the battery, being treated kindly and even getting a discount. All the more reason I am a repeat customer. read more

A negative review turned positive. Finally, my problem is resolved after 11 months. In April of 2024, I had an issue with my car (which I love (EV6)), and Martha was my service tech. Martha told me to rent a car in which I will get reimbursed. Car fixed a month later, turned in the rental car, and went through the proper channels for reimbursement. After dealing with Kia Cust Care for months, they were not able to reimburse. Back to the Service center with my issue. From Sept - Feb, I must have called/emailed Martha 50x and Dennise 10x only to get the runaround. No call backs, no messages, no follow ups. The service manager at the time (Emir) did not even respond. I was getting frustrated. In February 2025, Kia hired a new manager, Artin Norijanian. I was able to get his email and emailed him my problem. Artin responded promptly and we set up a call the next day. Today, Artin called we settled our reimbursement. Now that is service. The 5 stars belong to Artin who is the new manager, and I hope he shakes it up over there. What took 11 months only took one phone call with Artin. read more

If you buy a Kia these days, or any day in the past for that matter, you are beyond stupid. The cost of a new Kia is about the same as it is for a Toyota Camry or Corolla - but with a Toyota product, you're getting a car that will last you like 250K miles with no real problems versus the equivalent of a Hot Wheels toy with Kia. I went to this Kia dealership awhile back. It was an abomination. The engine was toasted at 80,000 miles and it would've cost more to replace the engine than the car was even worth by then. Because I was not the original owner, I got no new car out of it from what was supposed to be the warranty on the car. The factory warranty was supposed to be 100,000 miles or 5 years, whichever came first, and I was below the threshold on both. Even at like 60,000 miles, a ton of work was already required and I dumped thousands into it. The people I worked with at the dealership were total flakes and basically said "You're screwwwwwed. Buy a new car." Lesson learned. I went down Van Nuys Blvd. to the Toytota dealership and bought myself a new Toyota Camry, paid cash, and have been in love with it ever since. In 5 years it's never caused me a moment's grief. DON'T BUY A KIA. They are just cheaply-made toys sold for way-marked-up prices and Kia does not stand behind their products and neither do their employees. read more

Horrible service. Made an appointment to drop off my car to get an oil change. i asked the service attendant How long which 1.5- 2 hours for an oil change is pretty standard. However, 3 hours without checking in on the client is not cool. No updates no anything. I go to pick up my car no apologies for the wait. Only thing Maria said to be honest oil changes are taking longer. to that I said. i understand being busy and understaffed which is why I asked how long. UPDATE It not often that a vendor comes through for you these days, but Kia Van Nuys did. Not only did Kia warranty the catalytic converter but the dealer installed it for free. Honestly i was amazed. Never before have i had such service. So they quoted $8,000 to replace the Cat. But charged us nothing, and gave us a brand new loaner while the car was repaired. They then tested the repair. So far so good with that. I'm not sure what to say. Outstanding service. I worked in client service for 40 years. We would often say its not that you make a mistake (everyone makes mistakes), its what you do about them that defines you as an organization.
