Adding an update to my existing review. Short story: Got great service again by Ismael (and Aimee). Longer story: walked in with a dead 12V battery on my EV, and i had in hand an extended service contract I purchased when I bought off the car. I was under the impression it would cover the battery, but you know those documents, pretty long and dense. Aimee looked at it, asked Ismael, they thought it didn't, but I politely pushed back a bit. They weren't defensive/confrontational at all and just suggested calling the insurance to make sure. Eventually the rep found for us the exact place in the contract that says the 12V battery is not covered. Item 15 on the 1 millionth page (yeah, I'm being hyperbolic..). Of course, I just thanked them for checking all this instead of just telling me to get lost, still got the battery anyways, and they kindly offered me a discount and a wash. Of course first best would have been to get the battery/install covered, but second best is still getting the battery, being treated kindly and even getting a discount. All the more reason I am a repeat customer. read more

I had the best experience buying a new car. It started with Jordan at services who gave me the realness about my old Kia Soul & the expenses I would pay out of pocket, I really appreciate the clarity I got from him. Then Russell helped me find me new Kia Soul 2024. He was a key player in breaking down the pre owned and new options for me- I ended up with the new new because it made the most sense. RJ helped me with paperwork and he is genuinely a kind character. Shout out to the homies at Kia van nuys! Horrible service. Made an appointment to drop off my car to get an oil change. i asked the service attendant How long which 1.5- 2 hours for an oil change is pretty standard. However, 3 hours without checking in on the client is not cool. No updates no anything. I go to pick up my car no apologies for the wait. Only thing Maria said to be honest oil changes are taking longer. to that I said. i understand being busy and understaffed which is why I asked how long. You should've checked in with me So I'm Not sitting duck wasting time. Go to my car. Service notifications not reset and no window sticker and no copy of service performed or inspection. UPDATE It not often that a vendor comes through for you these days, but Kia Van Nuys did. Not only did Kia warranty the catalytic converter but the dealer installed it for free. Honestly i was amazed. Never before have i had such service. So they quoted $8,000 to replace the Cat. But charged us nothing, and gave us a brand new loaner while the car was repaired. They then tested the repair. So far so good with that. I'm not sure what to say. Outstanding service. I worked in client service for 40 years. We would often say its not that you make a mistake (everyone makes mistakes), its what you do about them that defines you as an organization. As you can see, Kia Van Nuys really took that to heart, and that defines them as an organization. read more

I bought my car here a few months ago and the salesman's name was Farooq. He was patient and facilitated all my questions. I even attempted to walk out during the sell but he worked with me & we got a deal done. Since then he's been a text msg away & I could reach out to him for anything car related no problem. I went in for service a few weeks ago & I needed to a replace a piece on my car that was part of a package that Kia didn't sell normally. Brain that works in parts informed me that the piece wouldn't be easy to get a hold of but he was going to see what he could do. I was ready to buy the piece online or from somewhere else but Brian worked it out for me & managed to get the piece & give it to me free of charge! With Farooq's help Brian was able to locate the piece & they hooked me up & I'm truly thankful to the both of them. If you love a good scam then I highly recommend this dealership. Went online, found a car that fit the budget for my family, drove 45 minutes to get there, test drove the Kia Telluride, we liked it, awesome, let's go in And talk some numbers. They came back with a price that was over 10,000 of the sticker price AND the price online! Why? Oh because they said Kia puts a premium on all the tellurides because they are in such high demand... well, no Kia didn't put that premium on the car, the dealership did. They come back and have us the ol " let me see what we can do" game and they basically just tried to hide the premium somewhere else... my husband and I are accountants... so umm that's not going to work. They wanted over $1100... to lease a Kia. You could go and lease a luxury brand car for less! Than when called out on it the salesman said "well, we have to make money because of Covid..." absolutely laughable. There are over 28 Tellurides sitting in their lot, INCLUDING the one we looked at and we're prepared to take home if they just took off the $10,000 that they tried to be sneaky with. That was over 3 weeks ago. So I guess I'll say good luck! Please do not buy from this dealership. I just sold, my old car and bought a new (ok, 6 months old) Telluride on EBAY and guess what? If you buy a Kia these days, or any day in the past for that matter, you are beyond stupid. The cost of a new Kia is about the same as it is for a Toyota Camry or Corolla - but with a Toyota product, you're getting a car that will last you like 250K miles with no real problems versus the equivalent of a Hot Wheels toy with Kia. I went to this Kia dealership awhile back. It was an abomination. The engine was toasted at 80,000 miles and it would've cost more to replace the engine than the car was even worth by then. Because I was not the original owner, I got no new car out of it from what was supposed to be the warranty on the car. The factory warranty was supposed to be 100,000 miles or 5 years, whichever came first, and I was below the threshold on both. Even at like 60,000 miles, a ton of work was already required and I dumped thousands into it. The people I worked with at the dealership were total flakes and basically said "You're screwwwwwed. Buy a new car." Lesson learned. I went down Van Nuys Blvd. to the Toytota dealership and bought myself a new Toyota Camry, paid cash, and have been in love with it ever since. In 5 years it's never caused me a moment's grief. DON'T BUY A KIA. They are just cheaply-made toys sold for way-marked-up prices and Kia does not stand behind their products and neither do their employees. read more

Service department is THE WORST! Took my car in to be serviced for a shaking issue in January (they kept it for over a week. No rental/loaner) 6 weeks later and $1k later, the shaking came back, called them and they wanted me to bring it back but I wasn't prepared to leave it for another week, so 8 weeks later I take it back and they diagnose the car with something Completely different (another $750). Car was supposed to be ready Monday (today) but they still haven't called me back, and they won't answer my phone calls (been calling since 2pm). wouldnt recommend taking your Kia to be serviced here, unless you are able to leave it for more than 1 week at a time and willing to spend $1k over and over again, and of course NOTHING l ever be covered under their LOVELY warranty, because why would it ? Also, a helpful tip: DO NOT make an appoitnemt. They're USELESS. As the worker said "appointment are just to let you know we're checking in your car" . read more

I couldn't let my great experience at this dealership go by without a 'hats off' to their service department. I've been dealing with a knock in my 2014 Sorento engine ever since I bought it in August of 2013. Every dealership I brought it to said it was a 'normal noise'. Until I went to Van Nuys Kia for an oil change last month and one of the Service Advisors heard it and insisted that I bring it back in for a check. With only 55,000 on my odometer I had plenty of warranty left. Jonathan Hughes coordinated the entire ordeal. They had to run a lot of tests before Kia agreed to replace my noisy engine but, after two weeks, I'm now driving my terrific Sorento with a new and very quiet engine. After 8-1/2 years I am as happy with my Kia today as I was when I first bought it. I am a grateful and now loyal Van Nuys Kia customer. read more

This review is for the SERVICE DEPARTMENT. ** If I could I would give the service department zero stars** I took my car to get checked for a noise it started to make after I took it in for maintenance. My appointment was on a Friday. My car was not looked at. The service advisor, Bobby Hernandez asked if my car can stay there so that they can check it the next day which was Saturday. Bobby was unreliable. He did not call me Saturday to give me any updates about my car. I had to call him and leave him messages requesting updates on my vehicle. There was absolutely no communication. My car sat there all weekend long and it was during Labor Day weekend. I was inconvenienced, left without a vehicle for four days. I called Tuesday and still did not get a call. I finally decided to go and get my car! This lack of communication is unacceptable. I will be filing a report with the regional manager, corporate, and the BBB. They need to be aware of the lack of customer service their service department has ! I am not the only one who has complained about their service. This seems to be a problem with other unsatisfied customers too ! read more

Informed me as soon as they had an estimate of the cars arrival. They set up a time for me to come over and test drive before buying and they sold it at MSRP. Started out good- Maggie was really nice and helpful, we got to an agreeable price and I drove up from San Diego. Everything went well with financing and the deal but then the problems started. - I saw a scratch on the side of the vehicle. They said they could buff it out but I had to head back to San Diego so we agreed they would mail me some all-weather mats instead. - I get to San Diego and see protective/transportation film/stickers- on the "shark-fin" antenna, under the doorhandles, on some windows, a lot of places. So I start taking them off and some of them had glue and residue under and it looked like some of the paint came off with it. I was devastated and called in to find out that while some are temporary and should be removed, others were an add-on paint protection bundle that they include in every car and we pay extra for. They said they can't do anything because I shouldn't have pulled it off. I really believe they should have explained which were stickers and which were paint protection because I've never had it before but ok you could say this is my fault. I just think they should explain it when they sell it to someone as its an addition they force and I've never had a car with it in the past. - 2.5 weeks after getting the car I get a low tire pressure warning. The current air pressures pop up and they show Front Left: 52, Front Right: 36, Back Left: 50, Back Right: 21. I mean how does that even happen? Correct air pressure on this car is 38 on the fronts and 36 on the backs. Why is the left side of the car above 50?! And right front is 36 but right back is now at 21, I mean this is not good for the vehicle for me to be driving the first 700 miles at those air pressures. Now I'm worried can cause wheel issues later or who knows. I still wasn't going to write a bad review after the paint protection thing but this was the last straw and now I feel obligated to write one unfortunately. Really wanted this to be a good experience but someone definitely messed up on checking this car to make sure it was ready to go. Now I'm thinking who knows if the fluids are filled in this car or if anything was checked or done right. I'm going to get a full checkup. I've spoken with the dealership a few times but please dealership just do a real check up on every car before giving it to a customer. And I personally think showing where the paint protection film is would be a good idea but maybe that's just me. read more

My actual car buying experience here on the day of was not bad... I really liked Luis and was mostly content with the process, even though the markup seemed a bit pricey at the time of my purchase. (March 22, gouging was heavy everywhere because the car I wanted wasn't readily available anywhere) The problem I had with this dealership was that the follow up and correspondence afterward was severely lacking, I had a difficult time getting my calls answered, returned, and just wanted a few simple questions answered. All in all, I am a bit unsure how I feel about Van Nuys Kia at this point. Not entirely convinced I want to trust them for servicing my car with the poor communication on their end. Their client relations manager did reach out to me to try to make amends, which I really appreciated... so maybe I will give them a 2nd chance. read more

I ordered a KIA EV6 First Edition last year and it finally was delivered to Van Nuys KIA. All the staff was very professional and nice. Jessenya Rico was my sales rep who let me test drive a KIA EV6 First Edition. After being impressed with the car, she requested the First Edition EV6 that was assigned for me to be brought to the showroom since it was stored in another lot. After inspecting the car we confirmed financing and price which I bought at MSRP + Taxes and Licensing Fees since I had reserved the First Edition.
