My experience at Van Nuys Kia is a classic case of "it comes down to the people", which is a mantra that endures because of people like Internet Sales Manager Manar Ali. I contacted the dealer online about a Telluride I was interested in and was contacted by Abby Lopez; she scheduled me for a test drive, was very responsive to my calls and requests, and then connected me to Manar. When I got to the dealer, Manar greeted me with a warm welcome and was prepared as he already had the car ready for me. Now this may sound routine for what you'd expect at a dealer, but it wasn't because of who Manar is and the way he went about it. Given that it was a certified pre-owned Telluride, he answered the many, MANY questions I had without a hint of making me feel like it was burdensome to do so, provided every report I requested and did it with enthusiasm, professionalism and grace. In negotiations, Manar was straightforward and worked the desk to the extent that I felt like I had an advocate working to get what I reasonably wanted, and he didn't needlessly waste time. Instead, he really made an effort to first identify what I wanted and what would get me to "yes", which speaks to his excellent communication skills. To add to it, Jorge at the finance desk was also so helpful and knowledgeable about navigating some tricky issues that came up. The icing on the cake was when my wife and kids arrived and Manar genuinely showed them so much love and care. So it was the small things and everything. Just a good person with a ton of integrity. If we could give a zero review we would. My husband was talking to Abby the better portion of the day today and he decided to come test drive the car he wanted in 101 degree weather. He called before we left and she said someone was test driving it but the left after. When we got in the car he called to say we were on the way and again to verify the car was STILL available. We were told Abby was on her way to the other lot by Michelle to get the car and bring it to her lot at Kia. Again, he asked if the car was available and now Michelle said yes it was. We get to the dealership to find out the car sold 5 minutes before we arrived. I don't believe there was ever a car to purchase and if there was why knowing we were on the way did we not get a courtesy call? Really BAD business. We will NEVER suggest this dealership nor ever purchase a car from her. This is our opinion based on our experience today. ZERO STARS IN OUR OPINION. read more

The service advisor I've dealt with has been great, but their technicians can't be fully trusted. I recently took my new used car in for their complimentary multi-point inspection and was told everything looked good, although one of the break pads was wearing faster than the others. 1 week later I took my car in for its 60k maintenance and asked for them to install some OEM splash guards. Midway through the day I received a call and was told I need new breaks. How did my car go from "fine, with the exception of one pad wearing faster than others" to "you need new breaks?" When I arrived to pickup my car, I found they hadn't installed the splash guards. When I inquired with the service advisor, he told me the technician said they were the wrong kind (even though they were the correct part for the make/model/year of my car). The service advisor was kind enough to look into it and found they were the correct parts and proceeded to install them himself. Like I said, my advisor is great...the technicians, I'm not real sure about. Needless to say, I'm looking at other options the next time I need service since I'm not very confident in the abilities of their technicians. The other thing of note is that hardly any of the service advisors follow any level of Covid safety protocol. Many of them without masks, the rest with masks around their chins. Additionally they don't ask customers to wear their masks while inside either, even though the windows of the service department are plastered with signs about covid safety any expected behavior for anyone entering the building. read more

These are the times that truly test customer loyalty and Van Nuys Kia failed completely in this quest. I understand that due to the chip shortage good deals are harder and harder to come by, but a $5,000 markup on a vehicle that is by no means in short supply, plus an almost $2K accessory add-on at an approximately 800% markup is chutzpah that is almost admirable in its detachment from reality. All this dealership appears to be interested in is getting as much money as they can on the front end, but that's not how customer retention works. We ended up buying a vehicle from a different Kia dealership (Glendale Kia) for $26,500, that had MORE options and therefore a higher MSRP, because Van Nuys Kia asked $33,700 for a lesser-equipped one and refused to negotiate. Good job, guys. You lost a sale AND a service customer. read more

You'd think he would reach out himself if this was a professional business he is managing. Also, its now been over 3 weeks since they have had my car. The service manager refuses to come to the phone or call with an update. the only helpful person in this department (Jonathon I believe his name is and he has been nice) who has essentially confirmed they don't know what's wrong with the car-that it clearly CAME FROM THE manufacturer defective. He just says that they are emailing with the corporate office... Same response for over two weeks. I have retained a lemon law lawyer. PLEASE SPARE YOURSELF AND GO ELSEWHERE. read more

Absolutely disgusting rip off artists. Came to get an ignition cylinder replaced on a 2016 Kia Soul, waited two hours before being told that they had to ORDER the part, a very common wear and tear replacement part. The original estimate is for 220, which seems reasonable, so I make the mistake and leave the car there to let them finish. When I get home the service center calls me telling me that the total repair cost will be 940. I should have said no, but I am moving across country soon and needed this taken care of. This part costs 97 dollars on Kia's OEM parts website after shipping and tax, there are videos of people replacing this part in under fifteen minutes, I could have gotten it done myself, but they wanted nearly $1,000 to do it, absolutely disgusting. I'd avoid this place like a plague, and I'll probably never be buying Kia again. read more

I will be giving two reviews for Van Nuys Kia. I would like to thank Daniel Ybarra for selling me my very first vehicle: Kia forte 2023 last week!! Not only is it comfortable to drive in, but I feel safe when driving the vehicle. I was able to drive the vehicle home the same day that I stopped by the dealership to inquire if they had any in stock. I felt so happy with myself because I was finally going to own a car, especially a brand new one. Now, I will express my sincerity surrounding my thoughts around the finance department. After signing paperwork with Daniel, I was taken to the finance department to discuss my payment. I had informed Daniel that I would be using my own financing through my own bank and that they would be sending them my auto loan check within 2 business days. Daniel said it was fine and took me over to financing. When I arrived to financing, it felt like a different world to me. The person that I spoke with knew about my own financing and looked at me with disgust in his eyes. He discussed with me that despite that I would be using my own financing, he would have to explain their own financing options. I was fine with that. As I declined their financing options, the person looked at me with disgust, anger, and frustration. He angrily tapped his pen on his digitalized table for no reason. I know how things work with dealerships when one uses your own financing but come on, I did nothing wrong to decline these options and in the end, I felt uncomfortable as a first time car buyer. Two days after getting the vehicle, I signed the paperwork with my bank, in order for them to mail the check to the dealership. Last Friday, the finance person called me to inquire about the check. I informed him that it should've arrived to them and he said it didn't. I waited until Sunday to reach out and see if the dealer received the check and Daniel informed and said it didn't. I received a call from the finance person on Monday and asked me about the status of the check. I told him to check their mailbox as I had proof that it arrived to them on Friday. He told me that he would check later as he did not have time to look for the check. That same day, I received a letter in the mail from this dealer stating to return back the car. I thought this was shady because why should I return the car if I promised this person that he would receive the check no later than last week. I honestly felt that I was deceived and threatened with this notice as it had nothing to do with what we agreed on in my retail installment. I provided this person with an option contract. Fast forward today, Wednesday, Daniel informed me that he found the check today. What a relief!! I have been feeling anxious since Monday thinking that the check might have gotten lost or something bad happened to it. I went through the most unnecessary stress just because this person failed to find the check from the beginning. They failed to perform one simple job task. I don't appreciate this kind of business because frankly I gave this dealership my business and I don't think anyone should go through this, especially if one is buying a new car. I don't want to give up on the dealership but I hope I never go through this ever again. read more

Salesmen are cagey, shooting looks back and forth or mad-dogging like we were in Survival Kia Edition. Had to repeat my name three times and yet still couldn't get an answer as to how much the car was out the door, or how much my trade in was worth. All car dealer tactics on full parade but without pizazz, if you're going to rip me off at least be self deprecating about it. Humor me while you look into my wallet with boot mirrors. You'd have better luck if you were a fourth in the cemetery scene in the good, bad and the ugly. It was a slaughterhouse parody of a valley car dealership. How ridiculous, why make appointments if you just help walk ins and don't make a priority for the appointment. They make you stand around for several minutes and no one comes to help. Took almost 5 hours for a regular service appointment, so stupid. They kept lying about the time. Also the website says they provide a free car wash but doesn't mention that it's discontinued because of covid. Plus the tech never answers your texts. I was not told it was something that had to be renewed yearly. But more so, it's $50 to renew, which isn't really bad, but please tell me WHY was I charged $700 for it? Amazing experience with Daniel Ibarra, as exciting as getting a new car is, it is also stressful and there is so much to do from trying to find the car you want to towing your old broken down car (in my case) to the dealership for trade in, to getting your new car home after driving over in something else. My dad first talked to a Kia dealer in Van Nuys named RJ and had a pretty sweet deal with my sister's first car for leasing so I decided to inquire for myself about leasing. I haven't looked over with Kia models and RJ helped me a lot with choosing the perfect car for me. Overall I was looking for a spacious car but not a big car, and hybrid was the most important factor. He showed me a very very nice 2022 Hybrid Kia Niro model and fell in love with it. Has got all the features I want including a sunroof. It was pretty late already and banks were closed so the very next day, we got to talking about my deal and ended with a price I was comfortable at. RJ made it super easy and did a fantastic job to get me the model and price that I want. I got to the dealership after we got it all fixed, the car was ready for me, and I did a test drive. There was another guy that helped me with the test drive and did not do as a great job as RJ did because I was trying to take my time to check out the features but the other guy was rushing me to start the car and drive. I answered a survey indicating this incident with the test drive and RJ offered to help me out with it even if I got the car already. He really goes above and beyond with the service! If you are sick of getting antsy and tired talking to dealers, I would recommend RJ in Van Nuys and that would change your perspective. So easy to talk to and tells you a lot about the process. I had the chance to go to the Hyundai dealership in the same area and although they were nice, they wouldn't budge on the pricing at all! I tried Kia next and fell in love with the K5. Diana called us to come to their location because the car is ready, but we end up waiting for almost an hour because the guy that helped us couldn't find the stock number! (The way he talks also offended me! Maybe because we look young compared to our age!) He said Diana have no idea with inventory, because she does sales! (I was like that's BS, not because she's in sales department doesn't mean she shouldn't verify the information that she provides to customers) He showed us several cars on their website and was like "see, there is no grey" the way he talks really isn't tge right way to talk to a customer! And then he went somewhere to check again because I kept insisting that Diana told us it's ready. He came back after 20 minutes to tell us that there is one car like the one that we were looking for and that it's grey, but its not ready to sell??? Didn't hear him say anything like sorry, unfortunately, sorry for the inconvenience or anything!! HE DOESN'T CARE AT ALL!! And then told us that there will be new cars coming by the first week of September which is already this week! And he keeo insisting to do the application etc. Even before we see the car (the 2022 car isn't posted in KIA website so i have no idea about the looks, price etc!) I told him we'll just wait and he answered us "i don't really see the reason avout waiting" i told him thag i haven't seen the car online or anywhere else! And that I have no idea etc. But he couldn't understand at all!! Because he kept on insisting we asked how much is the msrp of that 2022 car, you know what he replied??? (something like this) "WE WILL GIVE YOU A NUMBER AND YOU DECIDE IF ITS A YES OR NO" he didn't answer the question!! So we decided to just leave!!!! Awful experience!!!
