There are 2 types of car salesman: the loud pushy type that only cares about the sale and will say anything to get it. Then there's the genuine type that actually wants what's best for you. I was greeted by the former when I went in and was very close to walking away as the "sales pitch" dragged on with every cliche under the sun thrown at me: "My Moms Irish." "I just spoke to my wife and told her how funny you are." "I can tell you're an intelligent guy." ‍ Then I spoke with Omar and over the course my time there we worked out a deal that worked and I walked happily away with a new car. Omar is a quality salesman and more importantly, a genuinely nice guy who isn't full of BS. What I really liked was that he walked away several times to give me time to think. Whereas the first guy was extremely aggressive in his pitch which I hate. In my humble opinion, Omar should be running the show there. I'm reviewing my entire experience so I'm dropping one star for the initial cliche-riddled pitch. Omar is a 5 Star salesman. read more

Go see Farooq, that's all! Ok, but seriously, we needed a car but we weren't in a rush. We've been in the Hyundai family for about 9yrs and had been going to the same dealership (3 leased cars). We arrived at Hyundai and there was no energy and overall the experience just fell flat. I left pretty discouraged and as we were driving home we passed KIA. I don't know much about KIA but my husband likes the cars so I said "fine, i'll go". When we arrived, the dealership was bumping! It was busy, there was energy and an overall positive vibe. Farooq, immediately greeted us and was so polite and let us do the talking. The car we wanted to see was not on the lot and he said give him 15mins but it got there much faster and we were ready to roll. We began to test drive and again Farooq let us do the talking. He answered all our questions, knew when to insert himself and just let us cruise. When we got back I was honest and said I love the car but not the price tag and explained this was a secondary car so we're trying to be smarter. Most salesmen would still have tried to sell us that car but instead Farooq worked with us and showed us other options and we landed on a car I didn't know existed - KIA NIRO. We then test drove that one and fell in love and again he let us do the talking, answered all our questions and knew when to insert himself. When we were ready to run numbers and look at the trade in, it was pretty straight forward. Of course, there was some back and forth as it should be but, Farooq was very respectful of our process and gave us the time we needed. I never felt rushed or pressured, especially given that WE were now on a time crunch (he knew there was a commitment that night we had to get to). Once we locked in, he started the process and promised he would get us out on time. He even relayed the message to finance and Delmy also took great care of us! When we were done the car was ready to go, the gong was rung and the big red bow was on! Farooq, made sure we were set up on the app and all the last minute details and questions were squared away. Tow weeks later, we're still very happy with our choice and will be sending friends to see Farooq! read more

Service: Watch out, making an appointment to get your car serviced does not mean what you think it means. I made an appointment for 7:15 am to have my car worked on. As part of my arranging my appointment on the Kia Access app I said I would be waiting for my car while it was worked on. I drove a long time in rush hour traffic to make it to this 7:15 am service appointment. When I got there, they told me the appointment was only to drop the car off and the earliest they would have a chance to look at it was the next day. They said this is how they've been doing it for months. They should have let me know when I made the appointment that it might be days before they even looked at it. UPDATE: Brianna posted a reply to my review as if this is an unusual occurrence at Kia in Van Nuys. Read the other reviews. It's what they do -- give people an appointment for service that is in fact an appointment to let your car sit at the dealership for a day or more before they look at it. Brianna -- I wasted an hour and a half finding out that an appointment for service at Kia Van Nuys was not in fact an appointment to get my car serviced, and now you want me to waste more time talking to your general manager? Kia Van Nuys needs to fix this, not me. I won't ever take my car there again. On what planet is it okay to tell people to bring their car in days ahead of when it will be looked at? They're 1000% a scam!!! Took my Telluride with a wheel problem, gave it back to me with a horrible noise since they put some parts from other vehicle (SMH), tried to speak with the service manager and he couldn't even get a word out of his mouth, seemed like he was high on drugs and couldn't understand a single thing. Every time I called for a status update ( which it was honesty x2) NO ONE answered the phones and when I finally got a hold of the rudest person I was just given the run around being transferred from extension to extension. Also the times I've taken my car for a regular oil change, it TAKES ALL DAY... even with an early appt, so what's the point of the appt?? Who knows!!!! Plus they don't even have a courtesy vehicle for you, you either get lyfted back to your house or rent a vehicle at your own expense. Oh and be on the lookout for some dents, scratches, and more after your vehicle is given back to you, make sure you go entirely over the outside and the inside as well because they also GO THROUGH your belongings. Overall my buying experience and subsequent service visits have been unsatisfactory. I would avoid this place if you value customer service. However after dealing with both Mousa in sales and Modesto in service department I see the issue is with management. On multiple occasions I asked that the service manager Emir or the GM call me back regarding an issue. I am still waiting on a call from Emir as to how they are going to handle my issue. I won't hold my breath. From the initial purchase I had issues where I was promised certain things that did not happen as of yet. I also needed a light replaced that per corporate Kia should have been addressed prior to selling the vehicle being it was a "Kia Certified Used Vehicle". All you get here is excuses and the run around. I'm sure I'll probably get a reply to call the GM to discuss as many before me have. I'm starting to wonder if that person even exists. read more
