NO STARS. had to put 1 to post review. We contacted Amerisafe Moving to help us move from CA to KY. I specifically that I wanted to deal with the company that would be moving our stuff. I was told that they were interstate movers and that they would have my stuff beginning to end. THAT WAS A LIE. DO NOT USE AMERISAFE! We paid them a commission then they subcontracted our move out to Vanguard Van Lines to move from CA to KY. THEY STOLE FROM US BECAUSE THEY DID NOT MOVE OUR ITEMS. Vanguard picked up items at the end of October and I did not receive our items until December 18th. Their communication is terrible. When I would call to check on my items, I could not find out where the truck was with my stuff or when it would be delivered. When the truck finally arrived and unloaded our items, plastic and cardboard boxes were demolished/damaged. There was water damage to our items including a printer. An antique buffet table that has been in the family for over 100 years had water damage and was broken. Items were stolen from our belongings. Christmas decorations were broken. We filed a claim with Anthem Claims Management. It took more than 60 days to receive a response and they offered $36.00. That was an insult on top of the damage! Under the terms of the bill of lading you will sign, they can damage, steal and destroy your precious cargo and there is no responsibility on their end. DO NOT USE VANGUARD VAN LINES!! Worse company ever I hired them to move me cross country mind you i packed my house so i know what i had and the condition, well after spending thousands of dollars they stole some of my property and damaged property like a 150 year old bedroom set that can never be replaced. The movers told me its ok put glue on it, ok are you stupid for one its 150 years old and you cant glue a metal file cabinet back together. Worst moving company ever. They left furniture behind, lost items and damaged over half our furniture and will not take any responsibility.

This is the worst experience I've ever had with ANY COMPANY. Truly. If I could give it 0 stars I would. They were absolutely rude and disrespectful from the time they arrived at my door for my items. They changed the price once my items were loaded onto the truck, saying it took up more space, and then if I didn't agree to the price, they would just unpack everything and leave. They have no professional experience in packing items, as they damaged at least 20 of my belongings. They were smoking on the job - took three smoke breaks and two coffee breaks and asked to use my personal items for these breaks. Boxes upon arrival were completely crushed, items broken in half or shattered, some boxes completely opened with my files open for the world to see - some of which I wasn't sure weren't missing. I mean, it was awful. I filed a claim and reported my experience. It's now a year and a half later - I keep calling and am told they are sending me a check for the damaged - and yet I have never received anything. The most frustrating part was the items that were damaged and the mishandling of people. They're truly a terrible company and I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. Run anywhere else. read more

My issue is I hired Safe Ship Moving Company that was not even a company that moves things. I thought I was working directly with the company that would pick up My mother's items from California then deliver them to Washington State 2-14 days later. NOT....... I paid the Safe Ship Moving Company then they had Vanguard Lines LLC pick up the items with a cashier's check. They contacted me right away when would be the first delivery day possible. Then I was contacted when I was expecting to get the belongings, they were being loaded up on the truck and delivered the next week..... What they were not on their way. I never heard from the driver they were delivering at all that week. I got a lame excuse that I don't believe is true. Then I got a call the following Tuesday, Alex would deliver at 8:30 pm that night. When it was discussed this was a care facility and they needed to be delivered during the day. When they got there they wanted 10x the balance due. Alex wouldn't even let us see they had the items in the truck. It was a Enterprise rental truck too. The paper work they had was not Safe Ship Moving Company, but Vanguard Lines hand written for 7,236.88. We had cashier's check for the balance due 748.62 I never received an itemized copy of my belonging or informed or paperwork from them until they tried to deliver. We refused to be forced to pay a different amount than was agreed upon. They are scammers and Safe Ship Moving Company doesn't help after they got their money. I called for help but they referred me to the scammer company. Vanguard lines act like they want to help and use the sad story they don't want to keep mom's stuff, but when I tried to work with them they wanted me to sign a non-disparagement agreement. The address on their paperwork is false. They say they have an office in Seattle but use a Spokane zip code and they address in Spokane is the licensing office address to do business in Washington. I have not received any of the items period it has been 11 months now. Roberta Hochberg is the "owner" of this company. I don't even know she lives in California....... This is not about us, but a 94 year old woman that had her mom's furniture stolen. They brought her great memories of her mom and life growing up. This is a negative 10 star review. read more

Do not use these people. This company is the worst! I hired their services to move from California to Idaho. It cost me more than $20,000. When I received my stuff all the beds frames with scratches and broken parts, missing boxes, broken kitchen stuff. The 2 guys that delivered my stuff left a bunch of trash on my driveway, and my stuff all piled up. It was a big lost for me. I do not recommend their services. When I called about all these issues all they did it was to send me a claim form. I did filled the form up and print pictures. Three months later I got a response that they can pay only $162.00 when my loss is more than $3,000. Also if I want the $162.00 I have to send it notarized. Is that so ridiculous? Paying a notary for that will cost me a lot more. VANGUARD LINES LLC sucks! read more

This is a horrible moving company. They broke my tv,big mirror, mirrored coffee table and had my queen size bed strapped to the back of the moving truck. They have not responded to any of my attempts to get a hold of them and refuse to call me back or pay for any of the damage. Please don't ever use this company. Also I booked my move through safe ship moving company. This company is horrible as well. Making promises and not delivering. I moved from Seattle Washington to Surprise Arizona. They quoted me a price and I signed a contract. I made a deposit of 3800 dollars and when they came to load my stuff they told me it would cost me another additional 3100 above the bid and if I didn't agree to this I would lose my 3800 deposit. Then the were supposed to show up on the 14th of august and didn't show up until the 29th of august. They told my 2 different times they were loading my stuff and they weren't loading it at all. This moving company is a BIG SCAM! Basically, David Gibson will issue a quote. Roberta Hochberg coordinates the pick and then communication is shut off. Once the company fails to communicate and deliver your belongings after 3 weeks...you will reach out and ask for the location of your belongings. Roberta will communicate that she is working on it but never have anything coordinated or delivered for another 3 weeks. Phone calls will not be answered and I have received one email from Roberta. A LOT missing and most items arrived broken I'm posting for a friend who used these miserable monsters when she moved from California to Florida. Still missing several bins, the bins that did arrive are broken and/or missing lids; irreplaceable photographs and portrait are lost, they don't know where; flat screen TV arrived shattered, a lot of items are just ruined because they're broken. Wow...15/15 horrible reviews! I can't get my concerns addressed by whoever it is that is texting me to get me to pay my pick-up bill. I can't even get her to tell me her name. I think it is Roberta or Olga but since I don't know her name, I am calling her Olga. Usually, companies want their employees to identify themselves. I did try to pay her in the manner that she requested. Copies of two cashier's checks (for pick-up and delivery were photographed twice (front and back) ...the bank said that this wouldn't work and Olga said it didn't work, so I was asked to wire money for the drop-off instead. The money from the checks was deposited back into my bank account. Today, I got a next saying that I owe them money and that it was wrong to stop payment on the checks that she said they couldn't deposit. Before I pay them, I want to reimbursed for the nonexistent boxes, I want all documents pertaining to my move sent to me, and I want the following issues addressed! I don't feel that these requests are unreasonable. 1. Three men from Vanguard show up, two who don't speak English and a foreman who kind of speaks English. This was arranged by Amerisafe but that is a whole other bed review. He tours the house and tells me that it will cost another $10,000 dollars to move everything. Originally it was $15,100, then I added boxes and it went up $3,091 to over $18,000, and on moving day it went up to over $28,000. BTW...I am moving from CO to IL. 2. I declined the extra $10,000 and instructed them to move as much as they could in the truck that they brought, focusing on the furniture. I had already loaded enough boxes to be stacked upon the furniture. 3. Although I had paid for packing assistance and boxes, the movers didn't bring boxes with them. I had ordered 30 each of small/medium/large boxes, 15 garment boxes, and 20 art work boxes (I think). If these were in the truck, they would have had to have been unloaded before my furniture was loaded into the truck. 4. They were here from 1200-1830 last Friday. At 1830, the forearm demanded cash payment. When I questioned that, because I had paid Amerisafe with a credit card, he repeated cash, Zelle, Cash App, or go to an ATM. Anyway, I couldn't get him cash using any of those methods, which resulted in the cashier's fiasco the following morning. While I was gone, neighbor's reported that the movers had left the porch and went back inside my house. In my stressed state, I hadn't locked all of the doors. 5. When I returned home, I asked the foreman if the empty boxes would be left because I would still have to pack, or if I would be reimbursed for them. He said he wasn't sent with any boxes. 6. After they left, I found a mostly empty box of croissants, multiple pop canes, and multiple water bottles on the garage floor and garage shelves. 7. The following Sunday morning, the truck arrived in IL. They went through the same instructions with my husband...still not able to get cash. The movers left in the truck and said that they would be back the next day at noon. Hence, the money that was requested was wired on Monday morning. 8. The movers, and the truck, did not show up on Monday. When they called my husband to say that they would be there on Tuesday instead of Monday because they were "working". He said that there would be a charge of $250 for the delay in drop off. 9. Tuesday morning, the movers arrived and put everything in our living room. The furniture that they took apart was not reesembled or even placed in the correct room. I don't know if it is all there because there were no inventory checklists and no documents to be signed. The movers just disappeared. I know that this company is completely unprofessional and I truly believe that they are scammers as well...breach of contract, fraud, and elder abuse come to mind. read more

Do not bother to hire this company. I have never seen worse than this moving company in my entire life. If I had my 21 year old sister do the move, would have done a better job!!! 1) The movers asked for $150 tip (on top of what I was supposed to pay) upon picking up my furniture so they do a better job. 2)They were late 2 weeks to deliver my furniture. I was left in an empty apt waiting for them. 3)Then after 2 weeks a rude nasty man (only one delivery guy) brought a truck full of furniture that wasn't all mine. He started throwing things around and on the floor to get my furniture out. 4) He refused to deliver my furniture at the loading-dock so the manager in our building allowed him to park at the entrance and unload, just to shut him up! 5)He then started cursing on me, the building manager, and everyone around him. Not sure what was wrong with him. But it was scary! 6)Then he hired a homeless guy sitting on the side of street and had him to bring my stuff up here. I was shocked and disappointed but couldn't say anything bc I had no man at home, and he was already crazy enough. 7) I made a complaint about my furniture arriving damaged and broken. He told me that I needed to pay in full and follow up with the customer service for filing damages. 8)My furniture ALL ARE broken, damaged, trashed!!! I'm devastated since most of them are NOT replaceable. 9) I called and emailed the customer service, NO ONE EVER GOT BACK TO ME! NO ONE! it's like my msgs, emails, and my calls are going to a blackhole in space! 10) I still don't have any refunds, or any one following up with me for this horrific experience. 11) most of my boxes were open, my clothing had this gasoline smell on them. 12) My couch got here half broken, dining table was dented and paint was scratched, I had to throw it out. 13) All chairs got here with rays of sticky tape on them, my velvet chairs are just useless now! 14) Tv stand is broken, like they put some heavy stuff on it, it broke and cracked on the hinges! 15) Coffee table is scraped, all my mirrors and my frames are dented on sides and edges. 16) My antique accent table got here dented with some sticky black material on it. Can not be fixed, I have tried everything. It is absolutely ruined! 17) My artificial plants are broken and stems are peeled off!!! like who in the world could possibly damage artificial plants? What can I say?! This was the worst moving experience I have ever had! It started with the movers missing their two day window, and not even bothering to call me on day two. I sat in my apartment all day, expecting them between 9-12. It kept getting later and later. By 7:30pm and with no customer service to help, I assumed they weren't coming. I finally spoke to someone the next day, and she was able to get them to come that night. Once I moved, they again were not easy to track down. They missed my preferred date by one week. After they came, I found my boxes smashed or with holes, things missing and broken. There was no regard for personal property. My things came in a truck with multiple deliveries. No one bothered to read an inventory list, so I had to actually tell them which things were mine. They were about to give me someone else's Harley Davidson! And the kicker was, they asked ME if I had a dolly!?! Who comes to move people, and doesn't bring a dolly?! RUN AWAY! read more

Vanguard subcontracted my move to Speedway Moving and Storage. They were the WORST!! The men (Eastern European, NOT American Vets, who spoke minimal English) showed up late with a truck without a lift gate. They apparently stored my things outdoors after pick up because when I finally got my belongings (several weeks LATE!), several items were missing, EVERY item had water damage, and most had broken parts and/or scratches. I filed a claim with pictures. Their insurance company (Anthem Claim Management) said they would "suggest" that Speedway send me $267 for all the damage and lost items (not the thousands they were worth) but only if I signed and had notarized a statement that I wouldn't sue them or say anything bad about them. Anthem wouldn't pay me directly and no guarantee that Speedway would actually send me the money. I think all parties acted in bad faith if not outright misrepresentation and fraud. I didn't choose to go with this company, I got suckered into using a broker (Independence Van Lines, who told me they were not a broker on the phone! I will be writing a review for them after this.) I would not have chosen this company, going off of reviews both here or on BBB. So far it has been two weeks since everything I own was picked up, and no one can tell me where my things are or when they will arrive. When I call, I'm usually not able to leave a voicemail, but someone will text me back saying they are "trying to find a truck." How are you trying to find a truck, are you not a MOVING COMPANY? The lesson, avoid this company like the plague, and avoid moving company brokers who will fleece you and then go with these people against your will. I have moved 11 times in my life and have been reasonably happy with the first 10. My experience with Vanguard was beyond horrible!! I had them come out weeks before the move to do a visual inventory to reduce the risk of them underquoting me, or miscalculating the pack time. The first issue was the packing. I chose to have them pack most of my stuff, and it was clear that the two packers brought along a relative to help them out and she was inexperienced with packing. She was simply wrapping paper around very fragile goods that definitely needed bubble wrap for instance. They told me they could complete the packing and moving my goods into the truck on the same day. I challenged this because I've never had another mover be able to do both jobs in one day. They were late to arrive, and they still were packing at 7:00 pm when I had to leave for a farewell party. I checked in with them at 11:00, and they said they would need to come back the following day to complete the packing. I left to run some errands and when I came back I found several large items like bar stools, a microwave oven, and several drawers that had not been packed, so they had to come back a third day. The crew that showed up at my new home was the worst! They were fighting with each other, they told me I was responsible for telling them how to reassemble my beds, they didn't have a clue about how to reassemble a china cabinet that had been broken down into 6 parts at my old house. When I unpacked all of my stuff, all of the platters from my kitchen were broken. Several of them were hundreds of dollars each that I had collected from my travels around the world. All of my Banana Republic sweaters got to me, but none of my Gucci Cardigans that are all around $1000 each showed up, so this is clearly theft. I had 5 of them that never surfaced. All of the items they neglected to pack in the penultimate packing like the bar stools and the microwave oven never showed up. Total loss and damage amounted to $13,000. I chose not to purchase extra insurance because in my past moves, any damage I sustained was less than the cost of the insurance. I called the company to complain about the shoddy packing and the theft and was merely told to re-read my contract and to pay special attention to the details about declining the insurance. As a result of not purchasing the additional insurance, I was only due $0.11 per pound for the items that were missing, and was offered to settle on a reimbursement of $119.00 for a $13,000 loss. I'm sure anyone who has read this far will not use Vanguard. If you have already signed up, be sure to buy the extra insurance. These people are thieves and incompetents. usually i only read reviews but this company is so poorly ran i dont ever want anyone to use them or believe a word they say..so for starters the movers show up with a van thats already 3/4 loaded already, then to add injury to insult the driver is pressing for money before he even starts loading the truck..im sorry i forgot to say that everything was already blanketed and shrink wrapped ready to be loaded on the truck. the job could not have been any easier therr job was to simply load the truck so we could begin or journey .yet vanguard van lines has made this a nightmare for my family and our cross country move to georgia..then 1.5 hours into the move they indicated there truck was full to capacity..so at that point he contacted his dispatcher indicating that he needed another truck..were then told one was on the way..that was a lie..finally they all loaded into the truck with our belonging and disappeared under the premise of going to get another truck saying we will be back in 30 minutes..they showed up 8.5 hours later with another half loaded truck with someone elses belongings on the truck..mind you its 5:45 pm so its black dark outside but they show up to do another butcher job and load a few more boxes..only to say this truck is also full now..twice youve been to my residence and twice youve failed to complete a simple loading job...now ive got 43 boxes of furniture and electronics outside in the elements and they say no one is answering the phone but maybe somebody will get with us tomorrow to get whats left..you dont want these people anywhere near your belonging but again the driver was still pressing about money yet you have not completed the task youve been contracted to do..avoid this company at all cost, the next victim could be you..so now im forced to incur the cost of tarps to cover my belongings and sit outside all night watching my belongings..im a senior citizen and a veteran and never have i felt so disrespected..avoid van guard van lines at all cost.. read more
