Stopped by here with my significant other during the weekend to buy new shoes. The store was a bit busy so he wanted to wait for a staff to get the right size for his shoes.. I, however just flagged one of them down and asked them if he could get his shoe size. The young man went to the back and came back with sizes I've asked. He thought it was for me at first and then I pointed out that it was for my bf, haha. Anyways, it got less busy by the time we paid so we didn't really have any complaints. I have been a loyal Vans customer for over 20 years, they are my favorite shoe, but I went in to the Vans store at Valley fair mall last Friday (9/21/12) and bought 4 new pairs of shoes. At the register the associate ran my card and said that it did not go through and that she was going to run it again... It did not go through a second time, knowing that I am a regular buyer there, they said it must be a system error and they manually took my card information and said that when the system was back up they would run it and assured me that it was ok. Boy was it not! My card had been run 3 times for a total of $633.33! When I contacted the store on Saturday about this, they gave me a number at Vans corporate in LA, the woman there confirmed that there had been a system error, and when they received the monies from the bank then they would start to issue refunds, she said that this would not happen until Wednesday or Thursday this week!!!! WHAT, you took my money straight away, and now I am waiting at least a week to get my $422 back, THAT IS ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS! When I have tried to call the corporate office for "sales audit" department, I keep getting the same woman's voicemail saying that they have not started processing refunds yet, this is now a full week that they have had my money and I am PISSED. What if that money had been slated for other bills, and I was not able to pay them on time, or worse, needed food for my family!!! Fortunately this was not the case, but the matter is, that Vans has had my $422 for a week! And nothing from them to even be very clear on when they will get it back to me! I for one, will NOT be buying any more shoes or clothing from them at all! There is way too many choices for me to spend my hard earned money at, I have always supported Vans from 20+ years ago to now and now that the REAL corporate side of the company has reared it's ugly head... They will get nothing more out of me!! It is a shame because, A) I like the shoes, B) the staff at the store level are awesome! But I am for sure done with this company! I love vans but people that work here are very unprofessional. I was visiting this past weekend from LA and my brother wanted to buy everyone in the family matching pair of Vans. The girl that helped us asked us for our sizes so many times. Although she was one of the worst sales rep I've ever met, my brother was buying everyone a pair of Vans that day so we ended up buying 5 pairs. The sales rep girl told us to wait in line and our shoes would be in the front. We waited in line for over 10 minutes til it was finally our turn- only to find out another sales rep took all our shoes to the back to restock. Then we wait another few minutes while these incompetent employees search for our shoes and finally bring the boxes back. We bought them and left. Fast forward 4 days I came back to LA and I wanted to wear my new kicks to work. When I realized they switched my shoes out to the wrong box because I was left with two left side shoes. When I tried it on at the store I wore both sides anddd the sales rep "double checked" twice. Once before we went to the counter and second time when she found them and brought them back after they were being restocked. I am left with two left shoes and I don't even know what to do. read more

I recently went into Vans Valley Fair and was helped by Lauren. Let me start by saying I'm a new mommy of twins whom just started walking and up until now they never wore shoes so I didn't have to worry about knowing sizes. Lauren helped me measure and pick out cute little shoes for my twins. She was very helpful and patient something a lot of retail stores don't have when it comes to helping someone with babies. I usually buy a pair of vans when I see something I like but this one particular time I bought a flannel button up and some jeans. It was a buy one get 50% off sorta deal in which case I needed a pair of jeans and a new shirt. But I had a problem with the jeans. Everytime I wore them and took them off the top button would snap right off. I returned it once in exchange for the same pair. That second pair did the same thing. I exchanged it one last time and I guess the 3rd pair was a charmer because there isn't any problem with that one. The manager was a really cool guy in letting me exchange them numerous times. I'll be looking forward to buying a new pair of kicks soon so definitely coming to this store often. read more

Being part of the over 50 generation, I was introduced to the Vans Store in Valley Fair as soon as it opened by my grandson. Very friendly sales staff and they do go out of their way to make sure that someone is helping you. I have only had to return one item due to a problem we were having with my grandson's shoes and they took care of the issue no questions asked. Nice store! read more

The store still has a good selection of shoes and clothes. They even had a "van's money" promotion once in a while. The store is always clean and organized, but they are STILL UNDERSTAFFED! There should be at least 4 people in the store because it is huge! read more

I have been coming here since they opened. I'm a simple person, not really into shoes but always loved vans since a young age. They are stylish and cheap. This is the closest vans store to me, and every single time it's amazing service here. The employees are so nice! Very helpful, accommodating and patient with me. Every time I like to buy new shoes I like to wear out my current pair until there is holes in them. Whenever I come to this store they always let me leave my old shoes with them and walk out with the new one. And I notice they are always asking customers if they need anything or need shoes and they always have a smile on their faces. Whenever I'm here I feel like I know them even though I'm helped by someone different every time. I just bought a new pair today, replacing my old pair which only lasted a year. I will definitely be back next year when these wear out. 5 stars for the excellent customer service time after time. Thanks Westfield valley Fair Vans team! read more

The worst service I've ever experience in my life. I asked one of the workers if she could grab a certain shoe in my size and she replied with a extremely rude "No." This obviously shocked me because it's a part of the JOB DESCRIPTION to provide customers with their shoe of choice in their size. After seeing my shocked expression she then told me they didn't have it in stock, but this still doesn't justify the her rude and bitter "No" I received. She clearly shouldn't be working in retail if she cant simply say "sorry, I can't grab that shoe because we don't have that in stock." I obviously didn't expect a full on apology because they didn't have my size but, I sure as hell didn't need the sass either. Never coming here again. read more

The customer service here is supreme. Here was my experience: I immediately noticed that the variety of products was fantastic, but I didn't care for that, because I really wanted a new skateboard deck and wheels. At the station where the skateboard decks and related items were, an employee with a shaven head helped me with his knowledge about the products and his positive eagerness to find the specific items that I desired. After I chose what I wanted to purchase, the employee brought the items to the cashier to reduce the hassle for me. When I arrived at the cashier, the deck I wanted was charged for full price at $50 dollars. Earlier, the employee with the shaven head told me that a specific column of decks were on sale for only $30 dollars, so naturally, I picked a deck from that column. It was discovered that a full price skateboard deck was accidentally placed on the sale column, but both employees concluded that the reasonable thing to do was to honor the sale of that column. Their decision making saved me 20 dollars, but most importantly, the employees and the store itself earned my respect. I came back in a short period of time to return the wheels I bought for another. At first, it appeared as though I would have to pay an additional 5 dollars for the new set of wheels. The employee with the shaven head, who was working at the cash register, discovered that the wheels that I actually wanted was on sale, so he gave me 6 dollars for refunding the original set of wheels for another. I just want to write a quick review because this store has some of the best customer service I have ever encountered. Last season Vans came out with a shoe color that Matches our MC Colors perfectly, so of course all the girls had to have them. The first time I went I was helped by a male employee who was very patient with me getting all the styles and sizes I needed. He also made several calls to track down one they didn't have. The 2nd time I went was to take my 5 year old granddaughter to get shoes, and I'm sure if you don't know you can at least imagine how crazy that can be. This time a female employee helped us and she was awesome as well. My daughter was just there a week or so ago and told me that she too had a very patient and helpful employee. She also noticed that my favorite shoes were on sale. So I went back this week to get another pair. Unfortunately they didn't have my size, but again they were very patient and helpful and spent a good amount of time trying to track them down. read more

I usually don't review experiences in a retail store at the mall, but this one needs to be known. I'm sure you've, at some point, been asked when checking out at a store if you would like to donate some money to help a certain cause. Here's my story with when I was asked it today (Black Friday): I was standing in line with two pairs of shoes. The line wasn't too long so that wasn't an issue, and when I look at the register, there are three employees standing there; one woman on the left, a man in the middle and a woman on the right. The woman on the right finished ringing up the customer before me and looked up and said "I can help you out here." I placed my two boxes on the counter and she asked me if I found everything okay. The transaction is going good so far. I was then asked if would "like to donate $2.99 for a program that helps Autistic children?" I politely responded with "no thank you." The woman rebutted with "are you sure? You'll get this cool bag!" and the man lifted up some shirts he was folding to show me the bag on the counter and said "Yeah! And this program also pays for lessons for autistic children to learn how to skate!" Where I then responded with a more firm "no thank you." She said "alright! Well your total is $xxx.xx! You're only two dollars away from *insert some promotion that they had here, I honestly don't remember what it was* and the donation will get you there! Would you like to do that?" Finally, I said "no thank you." At this moment, the man and woman let out a scoff or a short laugh, I'm not sure because my head was down looking at my wallet as I take my card out. I look up a couple seconds later and the man looks at me and says "wow, just shopping for yourself today?" After that, I just stayed silent and finished paying, grabbed my shoes and receipt, said thank you and left the store. This is the problem that I have with what had happened. I was in the Vans store, giving them my business. I didn't have to be there in the first place. I was buying two pairs of shoes from them and they were trying to make me feel guilty for not donating $2.99 to this organization I know nothing about. I understand why the cause is so great. It's amazing that they help out autistic children and teach them how to skate. My standpoint, as the customer, is that I was asked if I would like to volunteer and donate two dollars and 99 cents of money that I worked for to an organization that I don't know about. That, I don't have any problems with. What I had the problem with was when the employees made the comments when I politely declined the offer. It was just extremely rude of the employees to do so. It made me very uncomfortable in the store. What if it was my last $2.99, or I needed that $2.99 really badly for something else? That's all. read more

This vans store is absolutely awful! I will never go here again. The girls were so unprofessional and rude. I came in on my lunch break and told the girl that I was pressed for time. Mind you I was the only customer in the store when I walked in. I wanted to exchange shoes I had received for Christmas. They didn't have them in my size, and said they would order them for me, which was fine. Then the girl proceeded to help the next customer in line while I was standing there waiting. Then answers the phone and talks for like 5-10 minutes while we are both waiting. Then tells me the exchange card she had given me didn't work. And says she's gonna have to call customer service. Then ignores me and finished up with the other customer. I took my card and left, bought the shoes online instead. I think the girl that helped me must have been a manager too. The other girl kept asking her for an authorization code and she kept rolling her eyes. As a customer service professional myself this was the worst service I have ever experienced. read more

Went in mon 5/2/16 and ordered custom skate hi style vans all gray . couldnt find at 5 locations .all the associates were helpful on the phone while trying so that service was great. But the valley fair location associate paulina took a great deal of time to sit with me and chose exactly the type shoes i wanted .excellent attitude , very patient . this type of service is why i only shop at this store.i just wish the time it takes to get the special order wasnt so long a wait 3 to 5 weeks . the shoes are only in los angeles being made. I just shopped at this store. The guy there was very helpful and I bought a lot of stuff like hoodies socks shoes shirts and belt. But when I got home I found the belt was not in the bag and I call back. They said they can do nothing but asked me to get back to pick it up. I am living in San Mateo area and it takes me 35 mins highway to get there. The time and gas cost is way more than the value of the belt. They admitted that it was all their fault but they just don't want to do anything for taking the responsibility. She said she does it have authorization to do anything and I asked her to ask her manager. Then she told me that they can give 10 percent off. I have to take about two hours around trip to pick up my belt and pay the time and gas cost for picking up a 30 dollar belt with ten percent off ? If the stuff costs like 100 dollars the trip would worth it at least but the belt is just 30 bucks and I have to spend more for picking it up and it is totally not my fault. I am really disappointing with this store and this made me really uncomfortable because I don't shop a lot. At least I don't go there for shopping. I don't have chance to get back. So this means that I paid about 30 dollars for getting nothing but just uncomfortable feelings. They don't really want to take the responsibility. Actually there could be many ways to make it up like mail the same value gift card to me or money refined. Or mail the belt to me. But they said that it is not allowed. So I wanna ask a question , do you allow to let the customer take the lost due to your fault but not allow to do anything you should do ? So disappointed. I will talk my Lawyer to see what to do next. The store makes money from customers and still let the customer take the responsibility of their fault. Make absolutely no sense. read more
