Awesome experience at Vars! We came with a group to watch the Saints opener / birthday brunch. They have several TVs with a large one to catch most the action. The space is open, mostly on the outdoor patio with some seating inside. There's a playground in the back if you have your kids and they want to get their energy out. That's nice for families and for those of not wanting to dodge the little ones. You order at the counter and drinks at the bar. We all ordered in waves. Everything came out a lot more quickly than I expected it to. They let you order half and half pizzas at no extra charge. You choose between the small and large. The small is enough for two, easily. I ordered the Fast Eddie / Danny the Creator half and half. Both were pretty great. The crust is thin but doesn't flop over, and there isn't a lot of grease to have to clean up. Other orders at the table included the Mid City (a hit), the Coon Ass (with huge cracklins on top), and the HBIC, among others. No complaints at our table, a rarity that there is not at least one. They have a full bar with lots of different liquor, some draft beer, and several bottle/can beer selections. We asked about gluten free selections, and they said they usually do have some GF crust available, but they had run out. I was not surprised by this as there was a home game the day before, so I assumed perhaps they would have sold it all. (hard to estimate how much you'll need). When I got in, I was trying to get the drinks. I couldn't reach the straw and an employee help me. The employees are all very nice. And pizza very good. The Maria is a very, very good pizza. And the playground is very big. I'd recommend it and it's fun. Got here close to closing and didn't realize it and they said don't worry please stay as long as you want. read more

Was looking for a quick meal to feed the family on the way to a Mardi Gras parade in downtown BR so stopped by Var's Pizza. Seems like the kitchen was overcooking items this night. We received our appetizer, mozzarella logs, and they looked so good on the outside but once we bit into them they had little to no cheese in them. Also, these logs came with little to no marinara sauce. About 20 minutes after ordering we received our large pepperoni pizza that we could immediately tell was overcooked. The bottom was black and the taste was very bland. We asked for ranch dipping sauce and were given about 2 tsp of ranch for 3 people to share for dipping sauce. Parking in a nightmare and the seating inside is very claustrophobic. There is a playground for the kids but it did not seem finished. read more

Overall, the pizza was good. I would say red zeppelin down the street has a much better pizza and outdoor patio. The atmosphere here was lacking, we came on a Saturday around 6:00 and there was no music or volume on the TVs on the outside patio, it was very quiet and odd. Parking could be a trouble here during rush hour, we were able to park right in front at 6 on a Saturday so it must be 50/50. The drink machine was down so we had to get a can drink from the bar. We came here for lunch and it was pretty good. I'm not shocked by it, but the service was good and everyone was nice. Seating area inside and outside was clean and they also have a playground for kids to play. My bf really enjoyed the HBIC pizza because it was refreshing and the crust was crispy. They had a bunch of different sauces which I liked as well. They had ranch, spicy ranch, an olive oil mix. The pepperoni af was good as well! I would want to try the Maria next time! read more

Worth the visit. Excellent pizzas. Worth the price! Pizzas came out fast and everyone was friendly and nice. The restaurant was brand new so everything was clean, they have a little playground for kids and nice outside seating area. I initially thought the price point was a little high for a couple of large pizza to go, but after eating the pizzas it's definitely worth the extra $5 you would save with dominoes or papa John's. Light , crispy and high quality ingredients -their combination made one of the best pizzas in Baton Rouge. The quad pie delicious- packed with four cheeses but the Julio was my favorite. South of the border pie with fresh veggies with land mines of Valentina hot sauce hidden under toppings (one of my favorite hot sauces) just delicious. The chopped salad was fresh and not over dressed and a large portion . Their chicken wings tender , juicy coated in a sticky blueberry bbq sauce sticky but very good . Not really happy with the wait and nor the ordering counter / window. The Pizza was pretty good but not worth over an HOUR wait. for Dining, there was no seats, so put an order in, was given a 45 Minute estimate for 2 pizzas and Breadsticks . Ending up visiting the window several times before the order was actually ready. 1 Hour and 10 minutes Total form Order to Pickup. Had to come back twice to pickup , the staff VERY confused on where orders are, stepping over each other, pushing orders 20 more minutes after a 45 min wait. Fig topping was pretty good , the Cheese sticks has some tasty crust but were pretty basic. The ingredients SMELL super fresh and the overall crust is GREAT. read more

aye yall im not gonna lie this might be one the best local pizza spots in town no cap. i been here a few times already and every time ive come it was so good. the staff are very friendly (shoutout to emma) the food is bangin. them don knots go crazy. oh my god and the wings are super good especially that blueberry flavor they got it's fire. i've never had a bad experience here. every time i walk in im greeted to the smell of good food and happy faces. this place is a 10/10 would come back again read more

Really wanted to like this place because of the great location but it unfortunately has gone downhill quickly. When they first opened the quality of the pizza was great (although they struggled with consistency and would forget to put all of the toppings on their specialty pizzas or might make the wrong pizza altogether...) Now the crust tastes frozen, the cheese tastes different, and they are being skimpy with the toppings in addition to not putting on the correct toppings. Tried Vars after seeing a review online. Don't believe everything you read. Had the Meat Lover's version of their pizza. It was decent, and it was definitely nothing separating the taste from anyone else in town. Their larges are enormous, so I guess if you just need to feed a lot of people their a good option. Decided to try out the new pizza joint. Service was excellent with an abundance of staff. We enjoyed the Coon Ass, tasted great. Also has an Italia sausage, it was only alrightfkene but the other in my party enjoyed it. Admixture of young and old and was hopping for a Sunday afternoon. read more

My wife and I went for the first time, and we thought it was great. We love the crust and all the fresh toppings. We love St. Bruno's local sour dough bread, and we read that they were using St. Bruno's dough for their crust. I like it because most places are just crust and very few ingredients. This place has a thin balanced crust cooked to perfection. It's foldable but all your toppings stay on the pizza. You have that little char on the crust, and it tastes great with a great chew! All of our toppings were fresh. We did the Quad with red sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, goat cheese, and parmesan. We also had the H.B.I.C. with red and white sauce, a little bit of roasted chicken, spinach, bell peppers, Roma tomatoes, pesto, banana pepper, and artichoke hearts. It could have used a little more chicken but overall, a good balanced pizza. We thought the staff was very friendly to us and everyone that entered.
