Coconut gives me a headache, but I will sacrifice my comfort for the Pandan latte, normally made with CO. The baristas are able to make substitutions, but I wanted to try the latte as is before making changes. The Banana Q latte with almond milk though was the best out of all of them. Whether you're local or just visiting the valley it's totally worth the drive. Make sure to mix your drink thoroughly to get the most flavor. read more

Drink was excellent. Tried the iced strawberry matcha latte and you can taste the quality of the matcha. Not extremely high grade but very good. The service was efficient. The ambience in the location was stale. Very quiet which is nice but nothing from the baristas. No good mornings or even smiles. Not rude but not welcoming. A Filipino coffeeshop with unique offerings. I had to try the Ube Latte, which is one of their signature drinks. Ube is a purple yam popular in the Philippines, which gives it that striking purple color. It also features coconut milk, giving it a richer taste and feel. It's sweet, but a subdued sweetness. I also had a beef empanada and an adobo pandesal. Both were flavorful and enjoyable. Lots was happening in the relatively small shop, including some intense conversations, dogs, and people on roller skates. I hope to come back! read more

I was excited to find a Filipino coffee shop in the desert! They have a mix of classic and Filipino-inspired coffee drinks. I opted to get the Ube iced coffee and it was just okay. I had no idea it included coconut milk, but I felt that it washed out the flavor of the ube/was not as sweet as I wanted it to be. Same thing with the Pandan iced coffee. Next time I'll try their Varraco iced coffee instead... Also, their interior is really nice but I would not recommend for studying as there are limited seats indoors. read more

I was surprised that I got old fashioned style over heated cappuccino there, since it's marketed as a specialty coffee. I start finding this disrespectful to the coffee culture which is thriving right now in California and United States in general. I do understand the confusion coming because of the flat white integration to the market, but I think all specialty places must be adjusted towards WBC standards. They have a roasting machine inside an actual shop which is cool. It smells like coffee roasting, and thats the vibe obviously for coffee geeks like me. I also tried ube and it was good. I spotted this on Yelp and we thought we give it a try. We walked in to this small coffee shop it smelled of roasted coffee and baked goods. The line was long and it was a little crowded. They have their roasting machine near the front door and a few chairs and tables inside as well. The line moved quickly and staff were great and quick to get orders out. What a fabulous place. Fantastic vibes. The service here is phenomenal - like beyond. A team member saw me waiting outside with my dog and invited me in, gave me a pup cup and dog cookies and was just the kindest human. Coffee was DELICIOUS. I then watched the same staff member make sure a delivery person who was loading up the store room left with coffee and a drink. Kindness is everything and Varraco is just so full of it. Went here for a quick espresso and my friend had a cortado. Both coffees were good. I could tell with the way the baristas interacted with a few folks that this place has some regulars. I happened upon this spot on my way to work and stopped in for an espresso. I can honestly say this is the best espresso I have ever had. The Filipino empanadas, also best I've ever had. A perfectly mid coffee spot--we stopped there because of high rating. The service was great, and the atmosphere was fun, with a DJ outside to set the vibe. We ordered: * Hot Veraco Latte - Smooth, but lacked any real coffee flavor. * Iced Ube Latte - Mildly sweet, even after adding syrup. * Iced Mocha Latte - Balanced but too subtle in flavor. We tried the Croffle - and the Guava Tea bread. Delicious. For those of you that haven't tried a Croffle - it's a cross between a waffle ( with brown sugar) and a croissant. Varraco was the 2nd coffee shop we visited while on vacation in Palm Desert. The shop is located in a small strip plaza facing the main street, Hwy 111. We popped in as the morning heat was kicking up and were greeted with crisp AC and a warm welcome from Austin. There is parking parallel to the street as well as a larger parking lot behind the businesses. We received 5 star service from Austin. He gave us the history of shop, told us the home made pastries and cookies are from a Filipina currently doing pop ups in LA where we are from. We discussed other local coffee shops in the area that were some of his favorites as well. Love a good local recommendation. He explained that while the Filipino items are fresh, homemade, the muffins and non-Filipino items are purchased locally. Some of the things I appreciated about Varraco, aside from the great service: -dog friendly -fresh roasting happens there -clean, modern, minimal design and decor. -a table available for local businesses/vendors to display their business cards -bagged coffee, cups, and shirts are available for purchase -they also offer gift cards We also enjoyed the coffee and pastries we ordered: -Ube Latte (not too sweet, just the way I like it) -Adobo Pan De Sal (my favorite, I could eat that every day) -Ham and Cheese Ensaymada The owner and his son walked in as we were eating. We didn't want to stop and bother him, but it was nice to see management coming in treating their staff with respect and being a part of the daily operations. The son even went behind the counter and had a cute little exchange with Austin. Great family business with service and products to match. Marking as a local favorite for our next visit! read more

When you first enter you're greeted by a giant coffee grinder machine with someone sitting next to it. Amanda is such a sweet barista and extremely friendly. She was so patient, my sister and I don't normally drink coffee nor do we know how to customize them to our preferences. She's such a nice addition to the team with her bubbly cute persona. I would say that the ube matcha latte would be a better choice for your first time. It's a great mix of flavors that complement each other pretty well. We were visiting the area and this specialty coffee came on my Yelp list, I was excited to find coffee that came from the Philippines. The place was pristine and the barista was friendly, he suggested the Ube latte which I think was pretty good with no sugar. I was asking for an add shot of expresso but he said he put 2 shots already and I will be bouncing of the wall if I add more, indeed! I also tried the Adobo Pandesal super good with coffee, and warm. It has good amount of meat and taste good. Had beef empanada, small but good size with coffee super tasty, served warm too. They have whole beans too and merchandise that are super cute shirts. Love this place whenever I'm in Palm Desert! Reminds me of my parents' hometown in the Philippines. The ube latte and ube matcha are so good! The coffee was great. I always like to try a fresh brewed black coffee to see how good their basic stuff is. They roast their own beans and their basic is very good. We also tried their cappuccino and it was very creamy and good. I prefer my cappuccino with less milk to get a stronger coffee flavor but it seems a lot of barristas make a cappuccino and it's pretty much a latte so this was like that and on the weaker side but still really good. The pastry selection wasn't great but I did come in just after opening (before sunrise!) so maybe they hadn't gotten their shipment in for the day. The BEST thing about this place is that the employees really seem to care about their customers. It really feels like a neighborhood gem. Located right off of Hwy 111 in Palm Desert and the coffee is slightly different than other places I've been to. They roast it themselves and even have a "secret milk" on the menu which I believe is coconut milk or something of that nature. The place itself is really laid back and relaxing, perfect for a coffee date or just to do some studying or working. Their pastries are delicious! Definitely worth a try if you like to munch on something while you have some coffee! Will be back at some point! read more
