We were visiting the area and this specialty coffee came on my Yelp list, I was excited to find coffee that came from the Philippines. The place was pristine and the barista was friendly, he suggested the Ube latte which I think was pretty good with no sugar. I was asking for an add shot of expresso but he said he put 2 shots already and I will be bouncing of the wall if I add more, indeed! I also tried the Adobo Pandesal super good with coffee, and warm. It has good amount of meat and taste good. Had beef empanada, small but good size with coffee super tasty, served warm too. They have whole beans too and merchandise that are super cute shirts. A perfectly mid coffee spot--we stopped there because of high rating. The service was great, and the atmosphere was fun, with a DJ outside to set the vibe. When you first enter you're greeted by a giant coffee grinder machine with someone sitting next to it. Amanda is such a sweet barista and extremely friendly. She was so patient, my sister and I don't normally drink coffee nor do we know how to customize them to our preferences. She's such a nice addition to the team with her bubbly cute persona. I would say that the ube matcha latte would be a better choice for your first time. It's a great mix of flavors that complement each other pretty well. Came through this afternoon with my kiddo to pick up a couple drinks for him and his dad, while at it, I snatched up some pandesal and empanadas too. I figured to change my 4 to a 5 because even though I can't have any of the coffees, my hubby can and he likes them. He really likes the ube latte (i'm super jelly about this!) and he's a black coffee drinker. He says it has a strong ube flavor (even more jelly!!) I'm all about their beef empanandas. Their jalapeno cream cheese croissant is my strong #2. I usually come through in the morning and it's been average busy. But it's a pretty a mellow vibe at 230-300pm. My husband and I ended up visiting Varraco twice. The first day I enjoyed an ube matcha latte which was wonderfully balanced and the next trip I enjoyed a luscious ube brown sugar latte. The staff do an excellent job in regards to their expedience and attention to detail. I think it's so cool how the coffee roaster is actually at the entrance actively being monitored. Varraco is a local shop turning out quality, flavorful coffee with unique syrups. I'll second another Yelper's comments about it being expensive, though think that's in line with every other coffee roaster I've been to in CA. Most are charging $8-$10 for a drink before tip, especially if you add syrup and substitute for a plant based milk. Needless to say, they're roasting their own beans, have merch, and have neat flavors like ube, pandan, rose, lavender, and all the standards you'd expect elsewhere. The drinks were smooth, perfectly balanced with creaminess, sweetness, and espresso. Additionally, their pastries look killer. The halo halo cake was calling my name, but the person in front of me snagged it. I'll get it next time I'm in the desert. read more

They specialize in fusing caffeine with unique Filipino flavors like ube and pandan. The beans are roasted in house and everything is handcrafted fresh to order. Their menu items are not only tasty, but also super fun and eye catching! You'll find bright purple ube matcha and neon green pandan lattes. I've tried the Ube Latte, the Brown Sugar Matcha, and the Pandan Latte, all iced. Every drink was served beautifully and tasted so yummy. Varraco Coffee Roasters might top the charts for most aesthetic beverages in Southern California! For food, I also sampled their pandan and ube cheesecakes and the corn and cheese empanada. Got coffee here on Sunday after a long day of checking out Desert X installations. GPS took us to the parking lot in the back and it was kind of hard spotting the place but we saw a sign on the side of the building. The entrance is off of the street but parking is not available out front. We didn't realize this was a Filipino coffee shop until we saw the menu and a few of the pastry items. I was kind of skeptical at first but after I tried the iced brown sugar latte I was a fan. I actually tried a brown sugar latte from Starbucks today to compare and yeah that was trash compared to Varraco's version. There was this huge chocolate cake in the display case which I thought was interesting and it made me want the double chocolate chip muffin instead. Love that there's a Filipino-owned coffee shop in the desert! Came here on a recommendation from my aunt who has become quite the regular. Got the Varraco Latte (iced) which is their specialty latte made with their beans. It is quite strong and not really sweet, so if you like a sweeter coffee drink, definitely toss in a packet of sweetener. They also have an array of pastries, with both sweet and savory options. We got a croissant waffle pastry that came with a chocolate dipping sauce. It was perfectly sweet and slightly flaky. We also got the cheesecake that was infused with their Varraco coffee and was topped with whipped cream and chocolate pearls. It was the perfect sweet treat snack and paired very well with their coffee. The owners are wonderful people who really have a passion for coffee. There is always a new pastry of the week, so make sure to inquire what it is in a given week! There is limited seating inside, but there's also an area to sit outside. Parking is pretty easy to come by in the lot out front as well as behind. The inside decor is pretty minimal and very clean. Definitely want to come back and try the Pandan Latte and the other pastries. Can't wait to make my return! read more

Located right off of Hwy 111 in Palm Desert and the coffee is slightly different than other places I've been to. They roast it themselves and even have a "secret milk" on the menu which I believe is coconut milk or something of that nature. The place itself is really laid back and relaxing, perfect for a coffee date or just to do some studying or working. Their pastries are delicious! Parking: it can be a bit tricky. If you want to park in front. You'll need to drive in from 111 to San Luis Rey and make a quick turn into the street(one way) in front BaBaLoo Lounge. There's plenty of parking in the back if you take 111 to Portola. I was excited there's a place in town that has Asian specialty coffee. Inside was pretty open/minimal. I didn't notice any restrooms. Baristas were friendly. I ordered the Ube Latte and it had a good combination of Ube and coffee flavor. My total plus tax was $8.08...a bit of a splurge for specialty coffee. read more

I was curious to try out this new Filipino coffee place that just opened up and I was not disappointed. It's really nice to see kababayan (fellow Filipino) businesses in the valley. I got the Varraco Latte with Oat Milk and the Milo Ensaymada. They don't add any sweetener to the coffee so I just added one brown cane sugar packet from there. The espresso in the latte was pretty strong and rich to me, overall really good. It was strong but not bitter or watered down, I can't pinpoint how to describe it exactly but flavor really shines through. Their Milo Ensaymada was chocolate-y, light, and fluffy. I liked it and hope to try the rest of their pastries. Normally $6-$7 for coffee is pretty expensive for me, but I appreciate how they source coffee beans directly from small farmers in the Philippines so I understand that. I'm happy to support both small businesses and farmers internationally. The owner and barista who served me were very sweet. Will come back here again :) Maraming salamat! read more
