Nice looking place, but food fell well short of our expectations. We dined 7-3-11, ordered higher end dinners and all 4 were disappointed. 1) Seafood over pasta - seafood over cooked. 2) Tuna over risotto - Risotto very dry (more like rice) and Tuna very undercooked (we love sushi and know how this should have been prepared, but at 7/8 raw it was too raw). 3) Chicken over pasta - chicken was very tough 4) Pink Pasta - I don't recall the details, but she ate little and did not get a to go bag. Gorgonzola/Arugula salad with sesame dressing - excellent! Vazzy's is a well established brand of local restaurants for what I would call "value" or "everyday take out Italian." The place looked new and a bit upper end, so we ordered accordingly, but were disappointed. I attended Vazzy's as part of a rehearsal dinner. There were about 23 of us, so a pretty large party. We received bread and cheesy bread to start, which was good. I ordered a chicken and tortelini dish which was delicious. The prtion size was good, wish food left over. Our waitresses were attentive and nice. The wait wasn't too bad considering the size of the party. If I were ever in the area again, I would probably come back. read more

Recently had dinner here with family and it was phenomenal, as always! I ordered the Veal Saltimbocca which was served over spinach with mashed potatoes. My wife had Eggplant Parm and my son had Chicken Parm with Vodka sauce. The meal was absolutely delicious. Food above average but the quality of the bar staff is lacking The food at Vazzy's is certainly above average. The menu includes pizza, pasta and a large variety of meat and seafood dishes. It's a huge menu with something for everyone to choose from. We sat at the bar which is almost always busy. We don't sit at the high tops because the service is worse there. We know this because we have eaten at Vazzy's regularly over the years. The bartenders always seem to be behind and customers always seem to wait. What is so frustrating is that plenty of employees are in and out from behind the bar but they don't seem to be doing much other than laughing, joking, entertaining each other and eating their personal meals. They seem to do everything but service the customer. All the customers that sat at the bar with us received the same lousy service from the grumpy bartender, who had no intentions of making anyone feel welcome. Most of the staff at Vazzy's is professional and hard working. It's a shame one or two bar staff cast a dark cloud over what should be a fun and enjoyable bar environment. Management clearly is blind to the fact the bar staff have this attitude and the service is weak. Vazzy's Osteria offers a Prix Fix menu Monday through Thursday 4:00 P.M. - 6:30 P.M. but the bartender on duty Tuesday evening did not tell us about it nor did she provide us with the Prix Fix menu, just a dinner and bar menu. She didn't smile or make us feel the least bit welcome. Unfortunately this seems to be the theme for a few of the bar staff at Vazzy's. We will look elsewhere for Italian food, with bartenders who actually want to service customers. read more

I have been coming to Vazzy's for almost 9 years with my now husband and after last night we will never return. He became SOOOOO sick after eating the chicken parmesan. I called the next day to let them know in case anyone else could possibly become sick and the manager Rose was so unprofessional and rude and did not offer any kind of apology and showed no concern whatsoever. She was extremely defensive and unhelpful. It is sad to say we will not be returning, this is the place where we had our first date. read more

We always choose their pizza and being able to have it delivered is a plus when you don't feel like leaving the house. We have enjoyed a variety of pizzas from Margherita to their specials. They are always delicious and arrive hot and ready to eat. A great choice for movie nights at home. read more

I've driven by Vazzy's hundreds of times and never knew it was an Italian Restaurant. What a nice place! We ordered Fried Mozzarella and Callimari as appetizers, big portions, tasted great, seafood was fresh. The wife had sausage over fresh pasta and I had Chicken Fettucini Alfredo. Dined mid afternoon and the food was delicious! The server was quite helpful and aimed to please. However, she did rush us at the end and we asked her if her shift was over, was she leaving, she said no. Only to walk away and mutter under her breath "I guess not." Another server and took over. Service was generally attentive and positive......It did take two requests to replace the dirty silverware and bread plates inour place settings, not a very pleasant start. Dinner was mediocre at best. OK pasta and bean soup, bland and overdressed Caesar salad. And a flavorless Vazzy's Special pasta with tough, overcooked chicken. So disappointing. With so many other good Italian choices in the area, Vazzy's will unfortunately not be on our list. read more

Stopped in for lunch with my aunt and uncle on a whim and experienced great service and a yummy lunch! We each ordered three different entrees and could not finish them because the portions were huge. The bread was fresh out of the oven and delicious. Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. This is local for us, with a round trip of 7 minutes for pickup. What they deliver is a rock solid experience with a handful of standout dishes and everything else being very good. The pasta coco is a Gorgonzola cream with hot pepper pasta dish that's fantastic. They also have a veal chop that rocks. The Anti-Pasta is good, but not great as is most of the menu. The ambiance and bar are much nicer then their other stores. Recommended. read more

We went to this restaurant for pizza once every other week until 2 months ago. Our waitress served the pizza and wrapped the long strings of cheese from the pie to our slices all around her bare hands and then dumped it on our plates to eat. What a horrible evening! We have been to this restaurant numerous times over the past 12 years and this was by far one of the worst experiences at any restaurant ever. We arrived at 5:10 on a Sunday night and there were perhaps 4 other tables of diners at this probably 30 table restaurant. We immediately placed our usual order that normally takes 10 - 15 minutes at the most to arrive. Perhaps 3 more tables of diners arrived over the next hour and at the 40 minute point I had to ask our server where our food was. She told us that the kitchen had given it to someone else as take out and that it would be 5 to 7 minutes and it would be out. The people 2 tables down from us mentioned that they had the same problem and that it took them an hour. I asked to speak to a manager and Nico arrived to tell me that they apologized. I informed him that we were now at the 50 minute mark and he said he would take 10% off our check. I told him I was not happy with any of this. Our food finally arrived at the 1 hour mark and I asked to have Nico come back again. I showed him that all we ordered was 2 simple pasta dishes. He offered the 10 % again and I told him at hour wait for 10% off when only perhaps 1/4 of the tables were occupied was ridiculous. He then offered that they would make us an extra dinner to take home. I informed him that there was no way I was going to wait for another dinner. All I got was 10% off, I even mentioned it to the hostess on the way out who has been there a long time and the best I got was an I'm sorry. I have recommended this restaurant to many people over the years. Due to the horrible service I received tonite I definitely will not recommend it to anyone and will seek out a new place for myself. I felt sorry for our server and gave her a tip however the people next to me insisted they wouldn't give a tip to anyone but the bus person and she told them she couldn't take it but they offered her a very generous tip. I must state that vazzy is a great restaurant- especially the original in BPT. However the Monroe location offers a few variations ie hummus with flat cheese bread. The bread is addictive do be careful. The setting is nice and seems like a weathered upscale. Don't know how to describe it but something is lacking. Service is hit or miss. You might have a fast sever or a slow one. In fact at the last visit we sat near the kitchen station. After waiting for about 10-15 minutes for a server, we were fortunate to get the girl nibbling on something behind the kitchen. Could see her every time. Meals are decent but should come with a side salad at average $17. But they dont. It's alittle pricey for the area imo. Chicken parm is a fave. So is the vinnys favorite. Once got pizza to go and it was really poor and soggy. Glasses of wine seem really chincy- like measured to the T. The hostess is always amazingly kind and seats us wherever we like. Being hit or miss on the dining and service we do go back when we don't feel like driving far. Far from the best. Far from the worst. read more

From the outside, this place doesn't look like it would be that great. But I can assure you, the food is awesome! The white pizza bread that they give you at the beginning of the meal is so yummy, and the garlic dipping sauce that goes along with it is just plain addictive. Nobody apologized for the wait. I got home and it was the wrong order. I ordered a small pepperoni calzone and was given a large pizza with cheese falling off the slices. I live about 2 miles from the Monroe location and 6 out of every 10 time I order it has been wrong even though I specify several times before hanging up with them. Last night was the straw that broke the camels back. NOT even an apology. My order was supposably going to be ready in 20 minutes when I got there 25 minutes later they screwed up one of my orders. Once I asked if everything was all set I was told yes. I opened it up there and found that another meal was wrong. To be honest it took an HOUR for pasta to be made right. I guess I should have made it myself because it would have tasted better then there's. Sorry to post this but I had enough bad meals out of here and people should know. read more

Waited 45 minutes for dinner after ordering (6:15pm); waitress came by and said food would be right out and waited another 15 minutes only to determine meals must have been sitting under warming lamps; sauce was congealed w/ burned cheese. We were visiting an italian friend of ours in Monroe and she treated us to lunch at this fabulous resturaunt. I`m a very very picky eater so I was afraid I wasn`t going to like anything. Welllllll Everything was so good and so fresh I ate EVERYTHING and was so stuffed I was afraid I was going to have to roll home. A wonderful selection of breads and olives were brought to the table. Fresh and fabulous! Then we had fried mozzarella. I had chicken marsalla. Yum. The service was great. Our waitress was very accomadating and checked back with us several times to make sure everything was alright and we had what we needed. Love the pizza for sure. Dined in for the first time recently and the service was awful. Very early (5:00 p.m.) with one of my kids. Very few people in the dining room meant the wait staff would disappear for long long periods. It took forever to place our order. Food came quickly. No one came to check on us (even when my wine was empty) and forever to get the check. Then with a takeout box on the table, credit card in the bill folder and our coats on, we sat there for 10 minutes. We gave Vazzy's bar another try Saturday night after so-so service from a female bartender a few months ago. (The restaurant has no atmosphere.) The service was, unfortunately, the same. Our bartender (young gentleman) was trying his best, but he had to constantly come out from behind the bar to wait the tables in the back of the bar, serving both food and drinks, and also had to head over to the restaurant area a few times. We thought, once again, that the bar was understaffed, despite the fact that the bartender mentioned to another customer that it was a slow night. After our first round of drinks and glasses of water sat empty for a while, and he was busy elsewhere, a young lady with a long dark ponytail (waitress or bartender, not sure), walked in front of us to deliver food to a "regular", walked back in front of us, clearly looked at our 4 empty glasses, and kept walking to the other end of the bar, where she proceeded to chat with another waitress (who did nothing the entire time we were there), and stayed down there and had a snack. That was the last straw. When our server had a chance to get back behind the bar to ask if we wanted more drinks -- which we really did -- we just asked for the check.
