Went here for brunch with a friend and ordered the surf and turf tacos along with the porterhouse. I also tried the café de olla -- it was decent, though lighter on cinnamon than I expected and not quite warm enough, but it did come...

in a charming cup. The portions are huge. I liked the grilled shrimp on the taco, but the steak underneath was overcooked and dry, which made it pretty bland. The beans were standard and the sauces were just okay. My friend thought the steak was fine, and we both ended up full after eating only about half our plates. Overall, it didn't leave much of an impression. The service was quick and there was no wait. The ambiance is very nice but the parking area is unkept.

One person in our group got a Carne Asada plate, it was huge! I would say the pricing is pretty fair. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for, it is very authentic and delicious and you get a generous portion. I would say two...

we had a hard time eating our food. the music is loud, but we really enjoyed it. We felt like we were somewhere in Mexico. Everyone was in such a good mood. The tables were full and everybody had a great vibe. We did not drink any alcohol so I can't say how good the drink drinks were, but the pictures looked delicious and servers walked by with drinks and they looked so good! I'm so excited we found this place. It is so authentic and we absolutely loved it. The only thing I will say is I can't believe the Michelada is $14.50. I think that is way overpriced. They are usually about $8-$10 at most restaurants. I wanted to try one. It is my favorite cocktail, but there's no way I can pay twice the price for one. I love the lively atmosphere. It was just a great evening.

Had the torta de chilaquiles, it comes with beans and 2 salsa's I have the green chile with mine. It was so flavorful, and a large portion eggs cooked to order. My friend had the sopes chorizo I believe. The queso, lettuce and onions...

onions looked fresh. The berry margarita was delicious, not overpowering tequila flavor. Fresh berry and sugar on rim. The server was attentive and very friendly. We had a moment to chat and it's a family owned business. The music wasn't so loud that is was overpowering any conversation. I love love loves the food, the decor, the service. It was amazing and a must comeback for a different dish next time.

Vecinidad de Seattle is a step up from the usual Mexican restaurants in the quality and level of the preparation. Everything here is just a little bit more interesting than in your average place. It's not really a fancy slow-food kind of place, but it's closer than most Mexican restaurants you'll visit. They did an excellent job with the interior, and a third of the floor space is dedicated to a mock up of the set of the "El Chavo del Ocho", and you can watch Don Ramon getting slapped by Doña Florinda on the television as you enjoy your meal. Service is attentive and knowledgeable about the food and the menu. The appetizers are excellent: The taquitos were the biggest hit, and be warned that the stuffed Jalapeños were full on burners and not for the meek (seeds are not removed). It would have been even better had they'd been a little more roasted, but I'd definitely order them again. Every

with chilaquiles, eggs, and eggs, and chorizo. I'm going to have a hard time not ordering it every time I go. The menu was changed between my last two trips, and the current menu is now on a spiral ring binder as opposed to the paper menu that was given before. The new menu mirrors the online menu. Gone is the lengua in salsa verde and the pozole. Descansa en paz! It's a little more expensive, as noted before by others, but you're getting a bigger bang for your buck in taste and quality. If you're not interested in the quality and care put into your food, then take a right out of the parking lot, and then take the first left, and you'll find that there's a Taco Bell with your name on it just a mile away.

So tried this quaint Mexican restaurant and it was a pleasant treat. I tried the taquito appetizer with the homemade green Chile sauce and fresh guacamole. Entree was salsa verde with carnitas it came with house made tortillas. My spouse had the Tacos à la brasa. The salsa chile was good but I do prefer a bit more spice but the dish was very tasty. The tacos were packed with meat so tender and filling. The decor was inviting and warm. The service was impeccable great place definitely coming back.

I was stopping from out of town. This restaurant was unlike any Mexican restaurant I've been to. The quality of food and preparation was amazing. There were so many interesting dishes to choose from including the ribeye tacos that looked amazing. However I went with the Al Pastor that came cooked in half a pineapple! It was the best I've ever eaten. I will stop there again to validate their consistency. Service was excellent. Good job.

Outstanding! We're out looking for Mexican food from Gig Harbor to Tacoma and just drove around and found it on Google. We had never been there and what a pleasant surprise oh my gosh, we got there at the right time because while we were waiting for a table, the line was getting longer... The decor is adorable and it replicates an old tv show apparently.. super cute inside! It seemed relatively clean. The bathrooms were nice and the people that worked there were very helpful and welcoming. Two of us had the three street taco plate which you can choose which tacos you would like and it came with the most delicious refried beans and some salsas; neither of us finished our food. We took half of it back because it was such a generous serving. One person in our group got a Carne Asada plate, it was huge! I would say the pricing is pretty fair. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for, it is very authentic and delicious and you get a generous portion. I would say two people can share a plate. We did get the best appetizer. In fact we thought it was the best thing out of all of our food and we will be back just for that. For the life of me, I can't remember what it was called, but it was something to do with frijoles, they were whole beans and they looked to be Peruvian beans, with a creamy broth with fresh cut chorizo on top and a huge mound of chopped Carne Asada. It came with five tostada shells, we broke them up and use them for chips to eat with the beans. It was a huge portion. It was enough for all three of us for an appetizer, but then we had a hard time eating our food. the music is loud, but we really enjoyed it. We felt like we were somewhere in Mexico. I absolutely love Vecindad de Seattle. The food is consistently delicious, and the atmosphere is wonderful -- it truly feels like you're sitting in a cozy little café somewhere in Mexico. Everything about the space is warm and intentional. I will say, it's definitely on the more expensive side, so my friends and I usually save it for special occasions or the occasional treat. I do wish it were a bit more affordable because I'd be here all the time if I could. That said, the quality absolutely shows. The coffee deserves its own moment -- it's incredible. Honestly, I have dreams about it. It's that good. The servers here are also wonderful. I feel like I often get the same server when I come in, and she's always fantastic. I love the aesthetics of the restaurant too. The flatware and dishes feel authentic, like they were brought straight from Mexico, and I really appreciate the traditional water jugs left on the tables -- such a thoughtful touch. The food itself is always impeccable. I genuinely haven't tried a single thing here that I didn't like. I haven't had the chance to try their bread or fresh-squeezed juices yet, but I have tried the pancakes, and they are hands down some of the best pancakes I've ever had in my life. At first glance, they almost seem out of place on the menu, but trust me -- even if you just order them for the table to share, they are unreal. I've tried recreating them at home (they even told me the mix they use), and I still can't get them right. They're just that good. I can't wait until I get to go back again.

Authentic Mexican dishes made with so much love. Their meat is rivaling Cuerno Bravos. They have tortas and soups. The decor is so cool and they even had dance lessons going on in half of the restaurant as we ate on the other side. Service is friendly.

Great food and service. DONT JUDGE BY view from outside as you will be fooled ! Step inside, then sit down to full bar or nice table and best Mexican food in the area of NE Tacoma and Federal Way! I simply lucked out. I researched best Mexican restaurant around in Federal way to go to after hearing some MRI results ( which showed no cancer- hooray). After reviewing many I wanted to try this place. So my wife and decided to give them a try as we live in West Tacoma and don't travel to Federal Way for a bite. WOW! After cocktail to enjoy my news, we then split this dish! Our waitress was so personable and suggestive and thus we each had our different tortillas, wife flour, me corn. And man, you know how you are served a dish and upon seeing you just feel and smell WOW? That's it! Left full, happy, and we may now make an exception or stop by this place on our way back from up north. Give them a try! Special cool area on left side for kids too! The pics will show and establish how nice it looked, and the taste? Taste you can imagine as good as it looked!

A friend invited us to brunch. They did really well with the decor the space is inviting and fun. We were greeted right away as it was slow. The place filled up quickly. The full menu is available we all ordered something different. The food had great flavor while the prices are on the high side and the beverages don't have prices that's really odd. Service was friendly not very engaging though. I would definitely go back however with the high prices we won't be rushing back.

So cute inside! Feels like you're in someone's backyard inside. Such great food, very authentic. I really wish they had chips and salsa even the option to purchase them if not free at like most Mexican restaurants. This is the only thing that would keep me from frequenting them! The surf and turf tacos were amazing! I would def get them again. Guacamole was pretty good. Try it you won't be disappointed!

Everything from the food to the service was exceptional! I came in here on a whim trying to figure out which Mexican restaurant to eat & drink at. I'm so glad I chose this gem! I came here on 5/5 so they had cinco de mayo drink specials. I got the surf and turf taco entree and when I say they weren't skimping out on meat portions, I mean it! My tab was only $50 for 4 shots of Lunazul Reposado and the surf and turf. I'll def be coming back! It is family owned so I'd rather support small businesses, and this one is def it! read more

Just wow! They're using fresh, quality ingredients and you can tell! House made corn tortillas every day. This place is nothing short on flavor, with tender meats and delicious salsas. If you've avoided it because the outside looks like a bowling alley (they made it colorful but it's still a windowless building) don't. The atmosphere inside is like a little town in Mexico . The music is upbeat - Latino but not Mariachi...more jazzy - and the decor is so relaxing. Service? They're all just lovely. On a slow day they'll chat comfortably if you invite it. How in the hell are you gonna charge 8$ for 100ml of orange juice. Was it hand squeezed by Jesus?. Also charging 10$ for probably a 20 gram piece of steak that I asked on the side of my chilaquiles. Chilaquiles were mid. Dont get yourself fooled by this place its just the looks and thats why they want to overprice. Server was friendly but they trick you into getting the entree which they charge you for not like other mexican restaurants that the salsa and chips are included, not here! Another 15$ just for that. If you want real mexican food dont even go in there read more

Only had one server, parking lot is so tiny 3 cars struggled to move around each other and our server didn't finish taking all of our orders , said she'd be back and just rushes away when we tried calling her back to get the rest of the order. The menu is also digital which i find pretty inconvenient. read more

The service was good, the waiting was over 30 minutes just to get inside the place, and once we got seated waited at least 45 minutes for our food to get out and once it arrived it was all like warm really disappointed for the price save your precious time and money and go somewhere else read more

We heard about this place months ago and finally made it in. The service is fantastic, very friendly, with great recommendations! The food is phenomenal. We absolutely loved our meals - and actually had nothing to bring home (and not because the portions are small, we couldn't stop eating!) The prices are very reasonable. The food was good, not great but good. Had brunch and wasn't a huge selection of food to choose from that menu. The pancakes were very sweet almost too sweet. The Barrigona was good, and the chorizo was just your basic chorizo. It comes with beans and white rice. Not sure why white rice. And they only make corn tortillas if you want flour it's just the basic store bought flour tortillas. Nice place, not sure I probably won't be back unless I'm in the neighborhood. read more

The food was delicious and enjoyable. Great tasting Salsas. For starters we had Frijoles Charros, Guacamole, and tacos de canasta. Main course Torta, Papa Loca, Guarache de asada and chilaquiles divorciados. My niece had a kids burrito the portion was enough for 2 kids. The Torta was a bit dry in my opinion but great taste. Esmeralda has Excellent customer service very nice and polite. I appreciated she asked for any room for improvement. Great ambiance definitely coming back. Reasonably priced delicious and authentic Mexican dishes all made from scratch. The flavors are exquisite and tastes like old family recipes. The space has an intimate feel and community vibe. Wait staff and owners are courteous friendly professional and accommodating. Definitely my go to now when craving Mexican flare. They've only been open roughly 1 month, both times I've gone it's been packed. Clearly other patrons have figured out this restaurant is worth the accolades it's received thus far. I don't usually write reviews, but this place deserves every bit of praise. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive without being overbearing--huge plus. Now the food... absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and made with clear attention to detail. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and high quality. The [insert standout dish] was a showstopper, and I'm still thinking about it! Drinks were creative and well-balanced, and the dessert? Let's just say you have to save room. The flavors are there and presentation was authentic. More hardier on the tamales and a better spoon for the menudo, but over all a nice authentic location. Brought me back to watching the show as a kid. read more

Just went to this restaurant in Tacoma and it did not disappoint! Friendly servers, great beverages especially the sweet cafe de olla and aguas frescas. I went there because I saw it recommended on IG and because of the nostalgic decor, the restaurant is decorated as the neighborhood of a beloved Mexican comedic series of the 70's and 80's El Chavo del Ocho. I grew up watching this series and it brought back great memories. The food was outstanding, large portions, I went there on a Saturday morning and had the brunch entree Chilaquiles Divorciados, the best chilaquiles I've had, could have done without the side round bread that came with it,not too appetizing, maybe a soft corn tortilla would have been a better choice. We also ordered taquitos dorados for appetizer, I was a little disappointed with the size for the price, but they were very good. Probably won't order these next time. The fajitas were also very good we ordered the seasoned steak fajitas, the food was served hot and like I said large portion. Loved the ambiance of the place and the location. The hype is real... authentic! Stopped in for a Saturday lunch. Bonus they had both their full menu and an incredible brunch menu. Food was not your sad American yellow cheese salty bland goop. This place i stumbled upon and honestly is one of THE BEST Mexican Restaurants I've been to!! The theme of the restaurant is brilliant and definitely social media worthy! The food was amazing just like a home cooked meal! The staff here were friendly, attentive and honestly made you feel at home. After what I believe to have been 2 years of saying that, that day has finally come. First, parking near the restaurant was limited, however finding parking in the residential area was fine. We found parking about 2 minutes away from the restaurant. As we came with my best friend, who, by the way, was the reason why I finally stepped foot here, wait time wasn't long as she came about 5 minutes earlier than I. We came for brunch and it was busy but the wait was not bad at all. The both of us ordered the same items on the menu from both the drinks, the main and dessert - a sangria, Shakshuka with lamb, and beignets. We also brought our daughters with us. They ordered a cheeseburger with a side of caesar salad and a mac n cheese dish from the kids menu. Our orders were delicious, although I was expecting the shakshuka dish to be heftier. For the price - $17. xx with an additional $4 to add lamb - it was a little disappointing, to be honest, especially since it was lacking in the lamb department. I was still hungry but thankfully I had my 4 year old's leftover cheeseburger and salad to fill me right up. As for the beignets, it was good. I don't have anything to compare it to since I don't know what an actual beignet tastes like. Would I return? Sure.

Go to Cooks really seriously head on down the place is fantastic. The booths are private and big. Providing a great place to join and eat. Music in the background jazzy at the perfect volume. Walked in waitress greeted us asking us if we were going to eat breakfast, close to cutoff time. We replied yes as we browsed menu selection made order placed. How kind to tell us. Food wonderful selection diverse and simple with something for everyone including kid menu. I chose between two breakfast selections going with my gut of course. The foragers omelette with biscuits. Not disappointed at all cleaned my plate. Everything was hot, nice good spices great flavor. Potatoes were nice with fruit and biscuit to accompany. Burgers were ordered with the clean up on aisle 12 as well. No one talked at first sure indication as we shared our finds. Wow we ate it all and all I have is a smile and one photo.

It didn't bother me, but if I had the choice, I'd prefer a burger without that extra note. Minor thing overall, and it didn't take away from a great meal. Great place to go visit and eat.

5 Stars Absolutely amazing! This traditional Mexican restaurant is a hidden gem. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with vibrant decor that made us feel like we were transported straight to Mexico. The food was incredible--fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The homemade tortillas were a standout, and the pozole was really authentic. The service was friendly and attentive. We decided to try this place, and we were glad we did. We were greeted and seated right away. The frijoles rancheros with the tostadas were delicious! The birria soup's flavors were well-balanced, and the side of hot salsa added an extra kick of heat. The portion sizes were good and we thought the prices were reasonable. We loved the decor and the overall vibe of the place. We also enjoyed watching the salsa lessons. We will definitely be coming back! read more
