Such amazing sushi, simply scrumptious. New take on sushi and such generous portions. We ordered 4 different rolls, loved them all. Yummmmmm Be prepared to wait for some time, but the food is all worth it.

Amazing food! Everything we tried was delicious. We really enjoyed the flavors. The restaurant could use a some attention to cleaning and if you're dining in during the summer just be aware that there's no A/C so it can get pretty warm inside. We also didn't receive the tacos we ordered but honestly we were so busy enjoying everything else that we didn't even realize it until later.

The owner provides exceptional service every time I go! The food is delicious. He does a great job with the presentation with every order. All pieces of food are treated special.

I'm quite embarrassed that after years of living in Long Beach, I've just discovered Vegan Castle. Hands down the best sushi I've had in LBC! And yes -- it's VEGAN. If you're a baked sushi lover, you won't even notice the difference, outside of its exceptionally fresh quality and a "tempura" like no other! This is the spot you take your vegan friends and everyone will be thoroughly pleased. I dined in with a mentor/friend and ordered the Dragon, Scooby Doo and Spider Roll. The rolls are not only well assembled and nice on the eyes, but the flavors were incredible. If you're a fan of chili crunch, the Scooby Doo isn't overly spicy and is enjoyable. The enoki mushrooms in the Spider Roll were cooked to perfection and we had the equivalent of about a roll to take home with leftovers from each dish. Their vegan tempura reminds me of that of "hush puppies" and adds a nice seasoned savory crunch. This is a great spot to swing by for lunch or to order takeout with a humble dining space and kind staff that feels neighborly as ever. Highly recommend!

Update! Still the best vegan sushi I've ever had and they got extra help now so the wait time is good! Yaaaaaaay!

Health and Wellness aside, truly what we eat has a lot to do with all of our senses. If we can eat "sushi" in a sustainable way, then why not?! Prior to experiencing the vegan lifestyle, I never really ate sushi in the sense it was meant to be eaten raw! So, if you were in it for the baked items, you are gonna love this place! Mind you, I only ordered two items from the Appetizers. I came alone and so had no one to share other items on the plant-based menu. The textures and flavors are wonderful....granted I have only been here once and have only tried two things on the menu... I wouldn't mind returning if I were in the area. I would LOVE to see this place flourish! Right now it looks like a one man show. I got to hand it to Tony for working so diligently. He'll take your order, accept payment, and bring your order to your table

To have a successful restaurant, and it's very hard, you have to support your employees. One person alone is not enough to run this place. Mop bucket out in the middle of the dining room. The singular employee is overwhelmed not able to take orders or clear off tables.... They put in self-help ordering, fine but didn't finish setting it up. No pictures or descriptions just old dirty menus on the side with descriptions. One last thing, the name doesn't indicate it's a sushi place. I hope they're able to make it work. I waited 30 minutes for my order, and there were only 2 other guests inside.

Welcome to the Castle! Absolutely worth the trip, but only one super king managing it all (most of the time). The guy running the show is a one man machine (preparing food, taking orders, handling pick up orders, serving tables, etc.), but that said this means everything comes out slower and orders take quite a bite of time definitely expect up to a 35 to 45 minutes wait for your food to come out after you order, but it will come out and come out amazingly!! Some regulars called in or placed orders online to cut down on the wait. Now we know! Seems like they have less busier times, but Friday and Saturday nights, everyone is craving Vegan Castle. V.C. puts so much care and quality into every dish, it's easy to see why they are so loved and supported. They just need some help to back up the demand of this popular Long Beach spot. Stellar rolls and eats - we were so hungry and had an event/party we were attending after where only drinks are provided, so we knew this would be dinner and essentially inhaled those incredible perfectly prepared rolls. Thick cut, eight pieces, topped with incredible sauces, plus all the goodness. We had the LB/Long Beach roll and the Veggie Tempura Roll, both had 10/10 flavor. Absolutely the best in the LB and definitely top five in Greater Los Angeles County. Definitely want to try everything on the list. Easy parking on the street. Restrooms for customers and tons of seating throughout. You can seat yourself and grab your own water, napkins, utensils, etc. Soy sauce on the tables, and pretty nice mellow ambiance with touches of plants, humble decor and sounds.

    Prepare to bring your patience

Small shop with only one guy running it. They have a kiosk for you to place your order,no server or cashier. So card only. Took over a hour to get our food out but again, only one guy was working the kitchen and they don't have AC , only fans running. Please support!

It took a while for Vegan Castle to win me over, but I'm glad it did! My very first experience was back in 2021, within their first year of business. In short, I really enjoyed what I ordered. I had one of the deep-fried rolls, a Red Dragon Roll, and a Crispy Fish Taco. I was just frustrated that it took nearly 75 minutes to get my food. Flash forward to early November 2024. I'm in the neighborhood and decided to place a to-go order. But opted not to when we learned that it would take an hour. At least this time my expectations were managed. I was in the neighborhood again a few weeks later and decided to swing by, place my order, then come back an hour later. I was a bit delayed coming back and arrived closer to 90 minutes later and my order was ready and waiting! I took it home and this Scooby Doo Roll was better than expected! It's filled with tempura shrimp, cream cheese, and jalapeño. It's topped with avocado, spicy mayo, chili garlic, and green onion. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/vegan-castle-long-beach?select=9XLA5cE6-O6T80bi6MoZpw Then in December 2024, I was in the neighborhood once again and popped over for another roll. I asked the guy what time it would be ready and to my surprise, he said 10-15 mins! I think I found the best pocket of time because my Spider Roll was ready as expected and it was super yummy! It's made with tempura enoki mushrooms, greens, carrot, cucumber, and avocado. It's topped with spicy mayo, unagi sauce, and green onion. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/vegan-castle-long-beach?select=jZX984N44Z1XUL5zs62Afg While I was eating, I had some great conversations with the guy about his restaurant. On my last two visits, he was the only one working! It really made me appreciate all that goes into being a small business owner. Much respect for being a rare vegan gem in the west side of Long Beach.

Loved the Volcano and the Spider Roll! Those are must-gets, just trust. They are both pretty big rolls. The red dragon roll was solid. The rainbow roll was beautiful but wished it had more crunch to it and not sure how I feel about banana being one of the toppings. The ocean roll was okay. Also wished it had more of a bite or crunch to it, but that's just my personal preference. We came on a Saturday afternoon and there was just one guy working the entire place so we had a wait a lil bit for all of our rolls to arrive on the table but he did a great job at making sure everyone had at least something on the table to munch on while he prepped the rest of the orders. Plenty of street parking!

They had a notable buttery taste to them which was rich and pleasant. I believe they were coated with a cornflake cereal which gave them a proper crunch. Unfortunately, my burger was also made incorrectly. I ordered the Bacon Bleu Burger but was served a different burger instead. Not quite sure what it was, but it had mushrooms and American cheese. They had sports playing on the TVs and the interior is pretty small. It's more of a casual vibe good for a chill night out. It kinda feels like a place where you order at the front and get takeout, but they have someone who will wait on your table if you choose to dine in. I came with a vegetarian friend and we had a fun time sampling the different taco meats and rating each. Here is my ranking: 1. Asada - I hate to be basic, but this was good for what it was. It tasted like they might have used mushroom meat, but this takes place as #1 for me because I think it could be a general crowd pleaser for any non-vegetarian. On the contrary, my vegetarian friend did not like it because she found it too dry. 2. Barbacoa - A very, very close second. The only reason it places behind asada is because asada is a classic. Barbacoa has good texture and I could eat a lot of these too. 3. Chorizo - This was the closest to tasting like its actual counterpart. I could eat a bunch of chorizo. Crumbly meat with lots of flavor. 4. Tinga - I'm not as familiar with tinga meat, but the pickled red onion that went with this taco gave it a savory taste. Good to try out but you're not missing out if you choose other flavors. 5. Chicken - Tasted like tofu meat? Not bad - I don't usually pick chicken for taco meat so this might be a personal preference choice. 6. Pastor - Sweet, but did not taste like pastor. Had a little trouble distinguishing between the pastor and the tinga at first, but came to the conclusion the pastor was the one with pineapple on it. I mostly prefer savory meats and while I don't mind the pineapple, the pastor I usually have is not sweet itself. If you like sweet meats, this might be worth getting. 7. Potato - Everybody can skip the potato. It's a fried potato taco, but the potato they use resembles a breakfast hash. The crispiness is nice, but the texture is flaky and the sauce doesn't save it. Even my vegetarian friend was let down by this one even though she had high hopes and usually likes potato tacos. Overall the server told us most of the taco meats were soybean based (not the pastor). I think the chorizo might be falafel, but that's a guess? Ended our meal with the Tres Leches as a dessert. Frosting is buttery and sweet (maybe a little too much frosting) but the cake goes super well with the milk. It sits in a soy milk bath which is a first for me. I wish they had added more soy milk! The menu is huge though. I was very tempted to try other stuff on the menu so I am very open to coming back and trying the breakfast platter (or getting more tacos again, yum).

TBH, I guess I'm just not a fan of big fat crusts like these. Just wasn't my thing. The dough to sauce/topping ratio is too off for my taste. Additionally, I am super confused about whether this is a vegan business or not. I thought with this name they would have only vegan items, but that doesn't seem to be true. I'd hate to accidentally eat something with animal products thinking it was vegan.
