Vegan District Asian Eatery offers exactly what its name says. My friend and I have been on the hunt for good vegan food in SoCal and were excited to find this place. Came here on a weeknight for dinner and it was not busy. There are a lot of tables inside with a stage towards the front for live music. The space is light on decor with exception of the walls which had images of lion dancers and other things. Food is ordered at the front and brought to the table when ready. We got the Crispy Oyster Mushrooms and the Eggplant Tofu. The Crispy Oyster Mushrooms came in a portion size that was larger than we expected. They tasted like the Salt and Pepper Squid dish that my family gets from Chinese restaurants which we really like. However, the breading was heavy and a lot of the pieces at the bottom were oily. The Eggplant Tofu was solid. Both the Eggplant and tofu were cooked well and had a nice savory sauce. This dish came with rice on the side. Overall, giving Vegan District Asian Eatery a 4/5. The space is clean and spacious and the staff are nice. The flavors of the food are good. Would recommend to anyone looking for vegan Asian food and would come back to try other things on the menu. read more

First timers... absolutely recommend this place. We had the Family Special.... with egg rolls, Eggplant Tofu, Mongolian Pork, Broccoli Beef, with rice and vegetable chow mein.... Yum! We came here for OC restaurant week and so glad we chose this spot to try! While not a vegan, I don't eat meat, and this place hit the spot. Service was super friendly and helpful. We ordered the crispy chicken, recommended by one of the staff, orange chicken, and milk tea with clear boba. The crispy chicken was it for me. So crispy, light, and delicious. The sauce on the Orange chicken wasn't too sweet, just how I like it. I would pass on the milk teas if you're used to the traditional ones from the boba shops. I loved the lychee iced tea with lychee jelly. We really enjoyed crispy chicken and oyster mushrooms. The veggie chow mein was not too oily. Mostly everything we ordered was great! We should have added some saucier dishes as the oyster mushrooms (table favorite) were really crispy and salty and the chicken was also pretty dry, as to be expected from a deep fried dish. The vegetables chow mein was only ok. The lychee drink was amazing with plenty of lychee! This place is something straight out of SGV or Rowland Heights. The food is on part with any vegetarian place out there. The only gripe is: you can't really get anything al a carte. Well, I asked and the answer was yes, but you just don't get the rice, and you don't get any more of the dish. Kung pao tofu- filling, with a sauce that was pretty good. For some reason i thought this was an accumulation of many vegan eateries, i suppose the name threw me off! It's actually just eatery. I snapped a photo of the items that I ordered. The cheese wonton was different in that it was sweet. That was a bit novel for me. Loved the crunch! I really enjoyed the crispy oyster mushroom. Surprisingly it didn't taste 'oily ' & i really enjoyed this item on the menu. The mongolian pork tasted pretty good as well, I only wished there was more fresh vegetables included in this dish. This place is worth a try if you are in the area. Friendly staff. Great service! I would say that this is a location you can take friends to who want to transition from the average western diet to a more plant-based. Came here to get the restaurant week special. We were only allowed to get to go as we had arrived 20 minutes before a comedy show happening there and priority seating was for priority show patrons. Overall I enjoyed my food. I had the orange chicken which came with brown rice and dragon fruit tea. I thoroughly enjoyed my food. It was very filling and the dragon fruit tea was the right amount of sweetness. The only thing I wish came with it was some sort of vegetable. When it comes to vegan cheese, I often tend to stay away but this appetizer was crunchy, and filling was perfect to taste. I wished they served more pieces. Green Beans Sautéed, savory sauce, imitation ground meat - love the crunchy beans and it taste just like the Walnut Shrimp- Battered imitation shrimp, vegan sweet mayo sauce, candied walnuts, steamed broccoli. Don't be afraid to try this dish. The sweet creamy texture of this dish was delicious. Kung Pow Chicken - Sweet and savory kung pao sauce with imitation chicken, bell peppers, contains peanuts. What a great hidden gem. Book marked this place and decided to stop by for lunch, good idea. The service was friendly, interactive and suggested great items for my next visit. Let's start off as the egg rolls were the best egg rolls I've had in a long time. Tasty without the sauces. The General Tso Mushroom entree was equally as delicious and not over powering with flavor. Took a risk coming here since I had no idea if the food was going to taste good. I wanted vegan Asian food and this was nearby so I gave it a chance. Upon arrival I realized it took over what used to be Hiccups restaurant. After looking at the menu I decided to get the kung pao chicken with white rice, cucumber salad, and a passion fruit tea. Total was almost $30 and although I feel thats pretty typical nowadays for a quick meal, it isn't cheap. However, I was able to eat the meal twice. I would say the food was tasty but not sure if I am dying to come back. The passion fruit tea was okay, but I really couldn't taste the tea. It tasted more like passion fruit syrup in water. Hmm I almost want to give this place a 4 stars, but I dont think it's there yet. 3.5 stars for the decent tasting food and service, but the drink and the price for the whole meal puts it at a fair 3.5. read more

I love finding new places that serve vegan food and this place absolutely hits! You order in the front, get a number and find a seat. The food itself actually came really fast, like 5-10 minutes. I tried out these. Orange Iced Tea/Dragonfruit Iced Tea - Both were refreshing but I liked the dragonfruit a tad more. Not overly sweet but it quenches the thirst. (5/5) Chicken Nuggets - Really reminds me of the tofu texture I find at the Buddhist temple food. It's pretty good for being fake meat but you definitely can tell. (4/5) Szechuan Wontons - This tasted similar to the same meat as the nuggets. I like the sauce and this is a solid alternate for no meat. (4/5) Walnut Shrimp - Alrite, Alrite this one is spectacular. If I didn't know it was vegan I probably could've passed it off as real. They did a great job with the shrimp and kept the breading super crispy. Walnut was good as well as the outer white sauce. NOTE: It was a stand alone dish and did not come with rice!(5/5) Mongolian Pork - This dish also tasted like the meat from the Buddhist temples. It's good but you can't compare it to real meat. Def solid for vegans. (4/5) Cheesecake - I got the chocolate and strawberry cheesecakes. You can't even tell they are vegan because it's creamy and bomb. Worth finishing the meal with these. We tried the new vegan Chinese food restaurant Vegan District Asian Eatery in Anaheim. There is one in Loma Linda also. It is still in a soft opening thus we chose a weekday lunch to avoid the crowd. The food is delicious and place is decorated nicely inside. This is a sister restaurant of House of Fortune in Rowland Heights and Chino. It is done in a different way. You order at the counter, get a number, then the food is delivered to your table. It is perfect for a vegan meetup so you don't worry about splitting the check. Also the main dishes are served with rice on each plate(white or brown). There are other shareable items on the menu. A group of us ordered Chow Mein, Crispy Oyster Mushrooms, Ma Po Tofu, Orange Chicken, and Eggplant and Tofu. The cream cheese wontons were complimentary since I joined their VIP Club from their website. They are just ok. I am not a fan of cream cheese wontons. Some people like these so maybe you'll like them too. You'll get different offering each week being in their VIP club. They also offered sweet drinks and vegan desserts on the menu which we didn't try. Our group shared everything as we still prefer a family style dining like at the House of Fortune. Since our group was small today, it was great. The dishes are as yummy as House Of Fortune. Parking is plenty(it is OC, you know, we get plenty of parking). You order at the counter and get a number to sit. The food comes out quickly and staff is overall friendly. You can also sign up for a rewards program with weekly deals. We tried the fried mayo shrimp, tofu chow mein, and wontons with chili oil. My only negative impression is really to no fault of the restaurant itself. I've tried their sister restaurant and coming from the SGV, the all vegan Asian food menus can be much more extensive, have bigger portions, and have the same price. Amazing food! We got the family pack with tofu fried rice, orange chicken, Mongolian fried pork, fried tofu a side of white rice, chicken nuggets. The food was so good that even my picky eater kids (9 and 4 yrs old) loved the food. It was really nice and the kids actively wanted more of the chicken nuggets and Mongolian fried pork. We got the orange chicken and beef broccoli. Each plate was $17, which is pretty expensive considering the portions are quite small. The orange chicken had decent flavor and nice texture, but I don't think it was mixed well--some pieces had an overwhelming amount of chili. One piece alone had 5 (depicted in picture) and my tongue was numb for at least half an hour. The beef broccoli had very few pieces of beef and only tasted like vinegar and salt. For $17 each, I would much rather go to Sun Vegan for Asian cuisine. read more

I gave this place a few tries because I really wanted to like it. There is a lunch bowl that I got that was pretty good and I would go back for that. However, other than that, everything is off. The chow mein didn't have any flavor. I went home and added soy sauce and sriracha to make it doable. The blandest chow mein ever. The eggplant dish was way too sweet. We drove 45 mins from West LA to try this location. We tried the Loma Linda location when I was in the area for work and it was fantastic. The food here is great! Tasty all around. There's enough options across the board to not be hungry. I do love their eggrolls as a good appetizer. The main dishes come with a side of rice and I do enjoy the crispy chicken and beef with broccoli. The vegetable wonton soup is very filling and is good for sharing. Came here with the family on Sunday noon. They have weekly deals if you sign up for their mailing list. We tried the mapo tofu and orange chicken with a side of nuggets. Also ordered the strawberry smoothie with oat milk. The food was pretty good and not too oily which leans towards healthy side. Generally you go up to the counter and order on the kiosk or if you're patient staff can help you out. I believe our server was named Emma. The shrimp had no flavor the dish was okay not bad but not great. The tofu was very tasty the texture was nice with just enough spice. I love supporting great vegan spots. This place is new and i saw it posted on Instagram and just had to try it. I was a little overwhelmed with the selection, but after mulling over the menu with my friends and talking to the staff, we pinpointed what entrees we'd like to share between the three of us. Staff was helpful as I requested low spice(I'm sensitive to hot spicy food) and they adjusted some of the items to be less spicy. The restaurant was clean and they were attentive in filling waters and making sure we had enough napkins. Overall good food and fresh flavors. Only downside was that I kept hearing an extremely high pitched squeaking noise coming from the general kitchen area. Was that a squeaky door? A squeaky facet? Some type of metal on metal sound.
