I'd like to start my review off by saying that I loved the experience I had at this restaurant. The staff were very quick, efficient, friendly, and helpful. The service was exceptional, it was quick when I came in, I saw it was a bit smaller, so, I expected a wait for a table, but I was walking around for maybe 5 minutes and got a call that my table was ready. I came back, the food came out quickly, I was with my mom and as soon as her water cup was empty, the server refilled the water quickly. This was a great dining experience, great atmosphere, exceptional staff. The only thing keeping me from placing my review at 5 stars is the quality of the food. While the flavors were excellent and the combination of ingredients were carefully selected, the preparation I feel may have been a bit lacking. Me and my mom came together on Sunday before a concert at the House Of Blues, shortly after we ate the food, our stomachs weren't feeling well, she's lactose intolerant and she got the creamy broth (She had the spicy Quartz with chicken and I had the Ruby with chicken and shrimp.), we just thought it was the broth for her and I just didn't think anything of it. We went about our day, we both had leftovers and took it home. It's Monday now, my stomach was fine earlier today, no issues. I decided to take my leftovers with me to work for lunch ( It was mostly broth with some noodles and chicken, I ate the shrimp when I originally got it), I went to reheat my leftovers, ate them, and shortly after I ate the leftovers, my stomach yet again didn't feel well. I did run to the bathroom a few times during my shift because my stomach was very upset after consuming it. My mom hadn't eaten her leftovers today, she had no stomach issues since eating the ramen on Sunday (She did throw her leftovers away after I told her that my stomach was upset after eating my leftovers), which leads me to believe that maybe the chicken in the ramen wasn't properly prepared for consumption. I would like to speak to a manager about this issue, but otherwise, I highly recommend this place as the food, service, and atmosphere are all very exceptional. Thank you for your time. read more

I found the girls to be a little scattered in determining seating, because it was a busy day based on the Final Fantasy Exhibition going on at the Anaheim Convention Center. There are two different types of soups available for vegans, and I opted for the creamy soup. The price plus tip was pretty reasonable, and I loved the noodles. The food overall was very good, but the process to get there was very time consuming and I felt I was treated like a number. The girls never smiled and seemed stressed. Maybe it was a bad day to eat there, but my choices were limited after dropping my son off to the Final Fantasy Exhibition across the street (it was lunchtime). I was reading up on the background of the restaurant and it is a franchise, with the owner who started the restaurant originating from Japan. Both were very good, and to be honest I probably would have been okay without the extra noodles (but I ate them all anyway, LOL). I would absolutely get the ramen again if I was ever in the area, but it was our last day there, so I didn't get a chance. My husband got some sushi since he'd had a bunch of snacks and stuff from his conference and wasn't as hungry, but he enjoyed the sushi as well. Interior is clean and looks relatively new, and the servers are polite but very minimal on interaction, which could be a plus for you. The decor is pretty standard for a Japanese restaurant, as far as I can tell. The restaurant was moderately full as well, not crowded but definitely not empty. Stumbled upon this place, sunday night around 7 pm. Waited about 10-15 minutes for a tabe which went by quick, put your name and nunber on the waitlist and they will call you back. Be patient with them, they don't have a lot of tables and we saw 2 servers but they do move quick, food came quickly too. Staff were polite and patient. Thanks to its location at Garden Walk, My wife and I stopped at Rakkan Ramen a few weeks back before a show at the House of Blues. I think this place is relatively new and was definitely super clean when we arrived. The staff was very attentive and got us waters, menus, and took our orders as soon as we were ready. The menu had a nice mixture of ramen and sushi and offered a combo that I took advantage of. I ended up ordering the "Ruby" which was packed with shrimp, chicken, and an egg as well as the upgrade for a little bit of sushi on the side, which was the spicy shrimp. The food came out pretty quickly and the ramen was piping hot. I ate the sushi first and have no complaints, it was solid sushi and I enjoyed it. The ramen gets a thumbs up from me as well. The broth had good flavour, the shrimp and chicken were both solid, and even though it wasn't necessarily a dish I'm going to think about again, it left me with no complaints. Overall, Rakkan Ramen was a solid dinner spot and somewhere I wouldn't be opposed to dining at again. Located on the top floor of Garden Walk plaza, this restaurant's vibe and layout is simple and minimalist. Service was quick and friendly, the server took good care of our table, she gave us time to decide on our ramen, make sure is there any topping that we would like to add on or remove, check-in to make sure we happy with the food, and refill our water on a timely manner. They simplified their menu so it doesn't have pictures of each dishes on it, just a lot of words and description, as a visual learner I'm a little bit sad but gladly I have Yelp to check out the image lol. We ordered Amber (Shoyu) with thin noodles & Pearl (Salt) with thick noodle. The broth was really really good, each of them have different taste but they all being crafted very carefully and very flavorful. Just like how they advertised on their menu: very "UMAMI" Ramen. I prefer my noodle to be thicker than what Rakkan served but it has the chewy and springy texture that I enjoyed. The toppings: Chashu, Bamboo Shoots, Seaweed, and Ajitama were all good, my favorite is the Ajitama - the yolk was amazing and boiled to perfection, Chashu on the other hand could be a little bit more char. But my girlfriend and I use to frequent the one at the Tustin District and one day they weren't there! So it's nice that they opened up a little closer to us! We've been to this location twice now and it provides a pretty casual comfy vibe and upon those times of our visit, not too long of a wait. We were there a little after 6pm on Friday/weekend night but I think customers start to come in around 7pm. Decent amount of seating and customers are fairly quick on eating depending on the party size and not to mention the food wait is not too long. Speaking of, let's talk about ramen! FOOD Spicy Cucumber Honestly can't go wrong with this one. Not crazy-spicy but has a kick and definitely great to pair with your ramen to help reset the taste palate! Chicken Karaage Juicy and delicious! Serving size for the Karaage are fairly large too so nice to have if you're feeling hungry! Goes well sprinkling the lemon wedge! Ruby ramen (Garlic Shrimp Miso) Broth is truly amazing on this one, although this wasn't my order haha this one's my girlfriend's! She absolutely loves this one as she's been ordering it ever since we discovered Rakkan in Tustin! Garnet Ramen (Miso base) Extra Spicy Honestly my go-to and favorite ramen! I've tried it with and without spice but I've always preferred spicy ramen so I highly recommend doing Extra Spicy! The chashu has a smoky taste to it which is delicious and serving size is perfect. I feel th is is a crowd-favorite and one you can't go wrong with! Spicy curry ramen with fresh garlic (LIMITED) This is a limited ramen so I had to give it a try. I'm pretty picky with curry ramen and here's what I have to say about Rakkan's Spicy Curry Ramen. It's good, has the right balance of protein to vegetable ratio but I think there's something missing from the broth itself. I think it could be the garlic chips that may be throwing off my taste buds but other than that, I think it was great! I'll try it again and give an updated feedback but if you're a fan of curry ramen, you should definitely try it out! OVERALL There's been a surge of ramen joints popping up around Orange County and I'd have to say that Rakkan is on my thumbs up list! Every visit is pretty consistent despite the locations and that's important to have. Customer service seems to be on point, servers tend to check up on the customers frequently to ensure everything is fine or if they had any questions. Although there was one point from our last visit (12.27.25) it did take our server some time to bring out the added sides for one of our ramens, usually they would bring the sides along with the entrees so maybe they just forgot? Stopped by here the night before a few days in the parks. I loved how quaint, minimalistic, and reminiscent of Japan the space was. Service was quick and efficient. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we were good at all times. The ramen here is pretty good! I've had better, but I would definitely stop by here if I was in the area and craving ramen. The spicy cucumber was good. It was my first time having this dish, so I can't compare it to other establishments. The sushi flight was solid as well--the fish tasted fresh! I wish there was a bit more variety in the fish, but it's also not a big deal since this isn't a sushi spot. Not pictured is the small Karaage Bowl and small Avocado Tofu Bowl. Both were (yes, small) a good size portion if you're peckish but not too hungry. They have a few other scattered locations and one in Japan. We tried the Garnet and spicy garnet. I got regular spice in mine. This one's has a miso flavor in it. Honestly surprised because it was really good. If you like just a little bit of spice get the regular. It's the perfect amount for me, I like spice to add a little flavor but I can't handle too much heat. For spicy lovers try the extra spice and add more chili oil. You can also switch if you want pork or chicken. The chashu was ok but I enjoyed how creamy and flavorful the bowl was. I ordered a salmon hand roll because I was really hungry and it said limited special on the menu. Don't waste your money on it. The egg was rubbery instead of soft, the pork chashu was dry and chewy, the noodles felt like they were made and remade, and the portion size was very small. The karrage was fine - pretty overpriced for only a few pieces with a salad on the side. The sushi/nigiri was absolutely atrocious. The pieces were 1.5" squares - how on earth is this one piece of nigiri? The rice wasn't sushi rice and definitely was not seasoned with vinegar and other components - it literally was the regular katsu-bowl-rice that they slapped a tiny piece of salmon on and dropped some scallions before serving. Prices are very high, but it's a hip/active area of Garden Grove. They do not validate parking here. Servers were nice, ambiance is fast/casual. My friend chose the restaurant and I was excited good reviews, food options my family would like. All win-win. It all was fine and then the food started to come. I ordered a small tofu avocado bowl. It was more like a kids meal. It was tiny and had way TOO much sea weed. The flavor overpowered everything else. And one my friend's ramen looked delicious, but the pork was overcooked, the eggs weren't good, and the spice level wasn't there. Also trying to get the servers attention I almost needed to stand up in my chair. And to add to the evening when we asked for parking validation she said they don't do that. Felt too hot to order ramen so I got their poke bowl with salmon. Mildly spicy (I don't tolerate spicy well so it's fine for me). I visited Raman Ramen on a weekday afternoon and the restaurant was not busy. We ordered the Spicy Quartz ramen, Amber Ramen, and takoyaki. Raman Ramen is known for their plant-based broths. -Amber: since this broth consists of soy sauce and umami sauce, the liquid is thin and on the salty side. The noodles are thin. -Spicy Quartz: has a slightly more creamy but not a thick broth. The spicy miso flavor provides a slight heat in your mouth/throat but it is not an intense spice. I added the table chili oil into my bowl and the spice amped up. I liked the thickness of the noodles. The noodles are also al dente. -Takoyaki: 7 pieces for $10. The octopus pieces are very small. The batter is very soft. I don't think the toothpicks are necessary because the takoyaki slides off the toothpick easily. I think the batter could be a little more firm, or have more filling inside. The overall flavor is delicious and umami though. I counted 28 seats inside. 2010s music was playing during my visit- think Jason Mraz, Coldplay, One Republic. I love my noodle with a little bite and this delivered. APPETIZER Crispy Vegan Gyoza (Grade B) / Deep-fried vegetable dumplings served with lemon. They give you a side of their RAKKAN's original dipping sauce which is tastes like your basic soy sauce and vinegar based sauce. The vegetable inside feels like a potato, but I could be wrong. In any event, I was hoping for a plant-based alternative that resembled pork - thus the B Grade. I did thoroughly enjoy the texture of the gyoza. This place just opened up. They still have on the Directory Board as 'Coming Soon' but it is open. It's located upstairs, around the corner from the Starbucks. I used to travel to Japan a lot. We found this ramen to be very authentic and delicious! My husband got the Ruby ramen, shrimp and I got the Garnet ramen, miso pork. The service by Martin, our server, was amazing too. I think Rakkan ramen is a good option if you're looking for a ramen place with vegetarian option. However, I didn't think it was very good. Today, I tried the spicy quartz and the garnet. They didn't have the depth of flavor that I would want from ramen and they were also very salty. I also got the takoyaki which was pretty good, and the karaage which felt like I was eating juicier Mcdonald's chicken nuggets....I wouldn't come here unless you're looking for a vegetarian option. read more

Located upstairs in Garden Walk, this unique all veggie broth ramen joint was a nice surprise. The Spicy Ruby which had plenty of bamboo shoots, chicken chasu, whole egg and 2 pieces of shrimp was so flavorful in that it had heat, seafood punch and the over used term "umami". It definitely was seafood forward as I'm guessing maybe some shrimp paste was used which really made the broth rich versus other vegetable broth based ramen. Very enjoyable! Since there was a ramen & sushi combo available the spicy hotate was a nice pairing with the seafood theme as it also was an even balance of heat and cool as the tender scallop set the up the prelude to the hot ramen. Great Vegan options, the quartz creamy vegan ramen is my fave and go to. We also love the vegan gyozas. Place gets busy but worth the minimal wait. Staff is always friendly. read more
