My partner brought me here during a trip to Albuquerque and it was worth the stop! It was my first time tasting the famous New Mexico chile, and it was sooo good! Finding quality vegan Southwestern cuisine used to be very difficult, but Vegan Vato makes it look effortless to put together. We decided to come to the Differential Brewery (reviewed separately) last night specifically because the Vegan Vato (Vegan Dude) food truck would be there. We arrived about 4:30 and started with a round of beers. A few minutes later we saw the truck pull up and start prepping for service. After checking their menu on their website as and verifying our selections with the menu board, we walked up and placed our order. Though the chef was still prepping it was no problem to enter our order into his system. When it was ready (and it didn't take too long) a text alerted us that it was ready. The burger was thick and juicy with just the right amount of onions, mushrooms and green chile -- spicy but not overwhelming. An ample amount of fries made for a delicious and filling meal. The others in our party enjoyed their food too. If you are at the brewery (or anywhere else the Vegan Vato shows up--don't let the fact it is vegan deter you from ordering--the flavors and portions should satisfy even the most carnivorous eaters among us. read more

They opened up right when we got there, which was a little late (2:30) It was understaffed, but they still took care of us even though it took a little while. The food was amazing. Wow, I can't believe I am reviewing a vegan joint. These guys were in front of Marble West tonight. We got the loaded fries and wow.... So good! The food here is INSANELY delicious. We ordered the burger, nachos, and tacos all to share between three adults total and it was plenty! We even had them split the burger in quarters. Today was the 5th time since March 15th that we headed over to Vegan Vato! We tend to wait on reviews until we've had the opportunity to try several options at a place. We must say the food is outstanding! I'm not Vegan but my wife is, and I'll tell you, I love the food!! Today we called ahead to make sure they were open as we have quite the drive to get there--they were open, so headed on over. We arrived a little before 1pm and our order was immediately taken. We ordered the Cool As A Crunchwrap and the NewMexiCali Burrito to go. Over and hour later (2:10pm) our food came out. Around 1:50pm or so the person who cashed us out 45 mins earlier let my wife know that the food was almost ready. Then when the same person brought our food order to us, she said, "Sorry, we had several orders before yours." Since we'd been there for over an hour we saw people who came after us and dined in--some with tables of 3-6 people who arrived 20-25 mins after us...got their food and had left the brewery. Thinking back we saw a guy with a Vegan Vato T-shirt come into the brewery with a grocery bag around 1:45pm--45 mins after we ordered our take out and put 2 and 2 together that the guy had likely gone out to purchase things they may have been out of related to our order. We would have appreciated knowing that they were out of whatever item they had to go to the store to get, so we could make the decision on whether to wait over an hour for the food, or to pay for it or simply leave. We were not informed of this information. All of this and we dig in to our food and there was no queso in/on either order--both come with queso!! Talk about infuriating! The customer service and communication on this visit was substandard. From now on, if we choose to patronize Vegan Vato, we will surely call ahead to make sure they have the ingredients for what we want to order. The 3 of 4 is based upon the customer service/lack thereof. Update 4.30.22: On second thought: the pinto beans in both items ordered were hard and not cooked through and the Crunchwrap was ordered with green chili on the side and came with a heaping amount on the wrap, so it was essentially inedible. This takes our satisfaction with our overall experience with Vegan Vato from 3-stars to 2-stars. read more

I had the Mexicali Burrito with jackfruit -- daaaamn good. This might be the best jackfruit I've had yet! They don't prep it in a way that makes the fruit imperceptible under a thick coat of BBQ. They cook it in a way that pulls out its flavor and gives the whole burrito a sweet spice! Delicious. Plus, the people working there are sweethearts :.) One of the folks at the kitchen counter gave me some free guac to go with my already-rad burrito. If you're reading this, you cool dude, thank you. Sooo good!! We came into town for business so were there for a long weekend and stayed at the Hotel Parq Central, down the street. We are vegan and were looking for something close by. The food was so good we went back 2 days later to eat again. I had the Philly Plate (a seitan cheesesteak with side of beans, spanish rice, and salsa) and my co-worker had the tacos. We got the 3 Brothers as an appetizer (chips with guacamole, salsa, and queso). Everything was delicious! The second time we went, I got the tacos (beyond meat with side of beans, spanish rice, and salsa - also served with lettuce and tomato on the side). It hit the spot every time! It's in a food court type location and each time we ate, someone from the staff came over to check and see how we liked everything. Also, the staff was super friendly and nice!
