New Mexico Impossible Burger (that means green chilies among other condiments) and fries.
    Paul F H.

We decided to come to the Differential Brewery (reviewed separately) last night specifically because the Vegan Vato (Vegan Dude) food truck would be there. We arrived about 4:30 and started with a round of beers. A few minutes later we saw the truck pull up and start prepping for service. After checking their menu on their website as and verifying our selections with the menu board, we walked up and placed our order. Though the chef was still prepping it was no problem to enter our order into his system. When it was ready (and it didn't take too long) a text alerted us that it was ready. The burger was thick and juicy with just the right amount of onions, mushrooms and green chile -- spicy but not overwhelming. An ample amount of fries made for a delicious and filling meal. The others in our party enjoyed their food too. If you are at the brewery (or anywhere else the Vegan Vato shows up--don't let the fact it is vegan deter you from ordering--the flavors and portions should satisfy even the most carnivorous eaters among us.

It blows my mind that anyone would rate Vegan Vato less than 5 stars. This place was incredible. I got the Crunchwrap and the loaded fries with asada and the flavor was unmatched. 100% recommend.

I have been following on FB Vegan Vato back when ir was a food truck, always said I was going to eat there. I finally came to ABQ and tried the food and it was amazing! So good we order to eat in and then ordered to take back to the airbnb. Recommend this place.

The Vegan food here is so good. Everything we had was spot on delicious! Breakfast items awesome. Lunch items awesome

This is the location of where you can find really good vegan. The 3 amigos are very good. It is hard to find good vegan cheese.

The cheese dip is really good. I would drive 30 minutes to get it. Friendly. I like that it is small. Excellent NMCali burro.

Wow, I can't believe I am reviewing a vegan joint. These guys were in front of Marble West tonight. We got the loaded fries and wow.... So good! It was hearty even without meat and the flavors were just right with Green and Red chiles. If you get a chance to try it, I highly recommend it. And I would order it again.

Even if you are not vegan, do yourself a favor and CHECK THIS PLACE OUT! This is by far some of the best food I've ever experienced...and somehow it keeps getting better every single time! I've had it all from the Vato Burger, the tacos (all proteins available) and the burrito. The amount of food you receive for the price you pay is unreal. The seitan asada is out of this world and the chips and queso are incredible. Rome is passionate about his business and is constantly striving to improve. I promise you will not be disappointed when you check Vegan Vato out.

The food tastes like it came out of a frozen bag and the owner is really creepy to interact with. Won't be returning.

I was impressed with the wide array of vegan "proteins" including tofu (grilled or fried), soy curls, homemade seitan, calabacitas, and avocado. I got the enchilada plate (because I can NEVER resist enchiladas) Christmas style. It comes with 1-2 proteins and I added a third so I could try the grilled tofu, the grilled soy curls, and the seitan. It was hard to tell what was what with so many things in there - probably should have gotten an extra side of one of the proteins instead. Nevertheless everything was incredible. We came around 3:30pm so we could catch the masala chai happy hour. I love masala chai and rarely have the chance to get freshly made dairy-free chai. I was disappointed basically from the first moment after walking inside. The server greeted us by announcing, "We are out of vegetables today." I didn't know how this was possible; eventually, she explained that they had run out of the "veggies of the day" that come with certain dishes such as the yogi plate; they were still able to provide vegetables in other dishes like the kitchari. But I was shocked, since I love vegetables, and their veggies of the day are so prominently advertised. I asked if the other location had vegetables available today. The server was unable to tell me. We decided to place our order anyway. I had some questions about the baked goods, since I rarely get the chance to have desserts that are vegan and seed oil-free. I was curious if any of the baked goods was entirely oil-free or at least free of coconut oil. The server seemed very unmotivated to help me figure this out. When I asked about ingredients, she just repeatedly pointed me to the labels on the cookies that denoted the type of sugar each one contained as well as certain allergens, but did not have full ingredient lists. I asked if the chef or manager might be available to clarify certain ingredients, only to be told that "the chef usually only works in the mornings." I was at a loss, and eventually, with some obvious reluctance, the server went into the kitchen to ask one of the cooks about the ingredient lists. The server returned saying "Yes, the majority of the items have coconut oil." Ummmm the majority? Which ones, exactly? At this point, I gave up and just did not order dessert. I tried to order an iced chai which they were out of. I ended up getting a hot chai as well as kitchari and dal. The chai was pretty average. It wasn't particular spicy nor particularly hot. The kitchari and dal were actually incredibly delicious. It's rare to find a restaurant that doesn't use excessive salt; these dishes were perfectly seasoned with warm, nourishing spices and very little (if any?) salt. Even the fact that they were served basically lukewarm didn't detract from how much I enjoyed them. This place seems truly special and I don't know if my experience was an exception. I really wanted to love them, but they made it pretty difficult, despite having great and healthy food.

It's in a historic area but the inside is chic, modern, and lively. Bold paint colors, unique bar and table sets, and they even have chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. We took a table in the entry way, not in the main restaurant. It was a quaint spot overlooking the patio section out front of the restaurant. A server met us, took our drink order, and we placed a few appetizer orders. We got some chile con queso, and the chicharron. They initially brought out the queso in two small plastic to-go containers. I was not very thrilled with that. Then, when we polished them off, they brought out some more in a small serving dish. Why we didn't get the dish in the first place is beyond me. The queso was good, but I didn't think much of the chicharron. My husband like it though. The server did an excellent job keeping our drinks filled. We placed our order, and it wasn't too long that our orders came out. I got the combination plate, red sauce, ground beef taco. My husband thought he ordered the enchilada plate, but the chile relleno plate came out instead. He told them that was fine. The ground beef taco was so delicious. The chile relleno was pretty good, and the cheese enchiladas were okay, even though it was like they were barely there. The pinto beans, not refried beans, were also enjoyed. What really set them apart was their papas - those potatoes were soft and super flavorful. Their red sauce was spicy and flavorful. The server brought out two fresh and hot sopapillas. We poured honey on those things bite by bite. I honestly think those were the best sopapillas I've had. I also used the restroom before we left. It might need a little updating, but it was certainly clean.
