It's September 14, 2025. I've been to this place before, but only to have a Coca-cola or a beer. Today, I decided to go for lunch and watch football on Sunday. I am surely glad I did. The game started at 11 o'clock AM. There were very few people there, and I was seated at the bar where I had a view of four different games all at once! The staff was friendly and accommodating. There is plenty of parking nearby. The decor is casual and worn. Some people might be tempted to refer to this establishment as a dive bar. Don't do that until you see the menu and try the food. Numerous choices. I had the portobello mushroom sandwich with fries. It was served on a brioche bun that was remarkably delicate. The fries were curly fries and were done just right. I know the bar is extensive, but I would highly recommend the food side of this establishment. I definitely will be back and the prices are excellent. read more

Traveling thru town we decided to stop here because the food looked delicious thru all social media platforms. We sat in the patio and waited a while to be served our drinks. The waitress was nice but seemed to be moving slow and what I mean she was inside. While I noticed the other waitress and waiter bringing drinks and food to their tables , we were still waiting for our food -45 minutes. The waitress was nice and did apologize for the food running late but that was no excuse, as I saw the other customers that had arrived after us being served. At the end of it all the food was delicious. It was a great pick but just make sure you have time to spare to sit around and wait for your food. read more

The outside space is a bit weird, as you have to walk thru it to get to the front door. We ordered a few beers and then looked over the menu. We decided on the ribs and the caprese salad. The ribs were so good and I would definitely order those again. The BBQ sauce was a bit spicy and tangy, just how I like it! The caprese came with mozz and cherry tomatos... I've never seen that before. It was also accompanied by an olive tapenade and garlic bread. YUM! I was very impressed! read more

We showed up to Gecko's on a whim during the annual Christmas twinkle light parade. And I must say I'm very happy that we did. I have not been here in a very long time and I think I am going to become a frequent customer. We were served immediately. And that is an understatement with how busy they were. We stopped for a drink to avoid the after traffic mess of everyone trying to leave at the same time. I think others have the same thought because the place was absolutely packed. Despite the madness, the servers were on top of it!! With how understaffed everywhere is, I was surprised with how organized and efficient they were. Not to mention the drinks. They make you any drink that you ask for or whatever is on tap. My husband ordered a local beer and I ordered a local wine. And the way people pour wine is all very different place to place and I will say they give you a good poor here. So I will be coming back 100%. I did not get to try the food but I'm sure it's good. The inside is kind of like any other bar minus the dirtiness . It felt pretty clean there. So overall I will be back again. read more

I give geckos a 5 mainly because it is one of the only restaurants to offer a legitimate wing deal! On Monday's wings are 50 cents. They offer buffalo and barbecue wings or you can get the wings plain with the sauce on the side! Excellent location although parking can be tough sometimes! Would recommend if you enjoy a dozen wings for 6 bucks. Also well drinks are on special as well so definitely worth it for wings and drinks l! read more

Maybe get rid of the massive amount of roaches. Clean something, anything in that place. I've seen cleaner restaurants in Afghanistan.

The St Louis Ribs (appetizer) have a terrific sauce-tangy, tomatoey and a bit sweet, a real St Louis sauce. The four meaty ribs were cooked just right and we split a Caesar salad, very crisp romaine and lots of it with a creamy dressing and a slice of toasted bread. The lamb meatballs with pita bread and salad, tzatziki on the side were shared between the two of us and we had plenty to eat with some left over. Kudos to the chef. The waitress was incredibly efficient , kept the drinks coming and we chatted with her, with the owner and his friend watching the rugby game on one of the screens. In my opinion, this is a great place to have a drink and grab a bite after work. They have a full bar and great deals during happy hour. Their menu is pretty decent too and it more than just the regular nachos/fries that some other places offer. You can find an interesting variety of salads, sandwiches (the pastrami and swiss if my fav), burgers, and soups. You may find good deals on margaritas but these are not good at all in my opinion, hence the 4 star review. The attention was good in general so I have no complaints whatsoever with that. Make sure you try their curly fries side, it's absolutely worth it! read more

UPDATED REVIEW!! I have to say Geckos is a true neighborhood eatery. Almost a replica of CHEERS. Antytime we go is to eat on the patio along with our faithful companion ,13 year old New Mexico Brown, Uncle Earl. Erin Saulsbury is the icing on the cake. What a great atmosphere she creates. Knows her customers, even if they aren't regulars. Uncle Earl gets treated like a king! He asked if we could go here for BACON every night?? I always run into acquaintances, carry on multi table conversations, and got treated to a drink by someone who shopped in my business for 20 years! Really interesting menu! Not Bar Food! I have had mixed experiences at Gecko's over the years. My family was once kicked out because my 20 year old son's fiancé had vertical IDs and hadn't updated to the landscape drivers license yet. I will never forget the humiliation of that experience. Also, I boycotted for a couple of years because of nasty public political comments by the owner. But on the other hand, during a recent visit, my sister who is a connoisseur of Reubens said that Gecko's makes the best Reuben that she has ever had. Service is typically good. The patio isn't the best considering other choices in Nob Hill, but is the seating that I prefer. read more

Gecko's on Nob Hill has nighttime food and drink specials, making it stand out from the crowd. There is a patio area for smokers and people with dogs. I mostly sit inside, either at a back table or under a TV at the bar. Monday night is wing night, which most recently featured 50¢ wings with drink purchase. Recently, I ordered a pint of Arrogant Bastard ($3.75 on special) and plenty of wings, extra crispy. These are big wings, tasty too. Next time I'll likely get the sauce on the side for ultimate crispiness. Tuesday night features half-price tapas, which are generally a safe bet. Good finger foods and shareables, though different from the tapas experience you'll get at Taberna in Santa Fe, for example. This could be a good date night option or budget business dinner. Then on Wednesday, my absolute favorite, is half-price burger night. Choice of cheese, choice of side (salad is always a safe bet, fries are delicious, consider the soup of day as well), plenty of ways to customize. Sometimes I'll add green chile. The veggie burger also falls under this deal, so bring your vegetarian/vegan friends. Gecko's often attracts an interesting crowd. It's also totally reasonable to start with happy hour at Scalo and end up at Gecko's for dinner. The co-op is also right next door, so do some grocery shopping while you're in the area. Gecko's is primarily a bar atmosphere. I've been in a few times, but this most recent visit wasn't anything stellar and would have definitely prevented my return visit had I not had better service before. We went in on Dec 23, after a day of shopping and procrastinating to meet some friends for a drink. They already had drink when we sat down, we pulled over another table to combine them. We kept flagging down servers only to get 'oh I'll get your server'. All I wanted right away was water. After 20 minutes we received water and some menus for beer/food. We were ready to order, but again no waitress in sight. Our friends had their food and drinks delivered by another person and we indicated we were ready to order in hopes someone would send over our server. A while later, we finally got to order while the others were closing out and paying. The nachos were good, but the strangeness with the beans made me modify their regular nachos to just regular plain beans. The nachos were good and a decent portion, the cheese was fantastic with a good ratio of toppings. My next visit probably wouldn't be with a group hoping to all hang out together, but instead a quick pop at the counter for a drink and a snack. read more

Fine for a draft beer, but if you're in the mood for spirits I wouldn't order anything trickier than a rum and Coke. Casual little bar in Nob Hill. Met a friend for a drink the other night and woah did the bartender have a heavy hand! Definitely no complaints here. They had Monday night football on, so it was pretty busy. Not as loud as I expected a full bar to be on game night; could still have a conversation without yelling. Pretty nice bar with friendly and attentive staff. Came here with my sister in the heat of Nob Hill summerfest. We ordered a margarita, the calamari, cheeseburger and teriyaki pork belly. We got the pork belly first and it was so tender and juicy. It fell apart very easily and was overall very delicious. The calamari is a HUGE portion, and they provide a tasty cilantro sour cream dip that makes you want to keep piling it in your mouth. The breading was nice and crispy and probably some of the best calamari I've had in Albuquerque. The burger unfortunately fell short because the meat itself was unseasoned, I recommend going for a flavorful cheese (I ordered it with provolone). I definitely will be back to try more of their dishes and drinks! read more

Came in to watch Bronze Final of the Rigby World Cup with New Zealand vs Wales. Sarah helped me right away and was excellent the whole time I was here. Ordered vegetarian wings and spicy cauliflower and it was really good. Great place to come and hang out and such a bonus they had the Rugby World Cup on demand to watch since the game was played at 1am our time. Rude guy at the bar quickly assumed that I was under 21 and tried to shoo us away and when I told him I am over 21 and waved my ID he wanted to act clueless and say he was just making us aware. He then proceeded to urge us to sit down about 3 to 4 times instead of respectfully answering the questions we had regarding the menu. Another amazing place that made my life complete while I was in Albuquerque! One of the things I liked when we first arrived here was that there was patio seating. The weather was amazing during my trip so I definitely wanted to sit outside wherever we went. The food was delicious! Like REALLY delicious! Like really REALLY delicious! My friend ordered the nachos. I'm not sure how they did the cheese, but the way it was melted on the chips was so mouth watering. It literally made the whole dish! They were probably the best nachos I've ever had. I ordered the crab taquitos. I was disappointed in these taquitos because they didn't taste like crab at all. HOWEVER, the dip that it came with? OH MY GOSH... I'm not sure what's in it but I could eat it everyday. It was like an avocado/cilantro dip. The drinks were not that great. Not for me at least. They had specials on vodka, so the waitress recommended some alcoholic Arnold Palmer thing. I didn't taste any alcohol in it and felt like I was only drinking an Arnold Palmer. Maybe that's their way of making me order more. lol. If it wasn't for the nachos and dip, and seating, I probably would've rated differently. But If you ever come here order the nachos! We told her we were from out of town, so she gave us suggestions on local beers to try. We ordered some tapas, calamari, tacos, and beef and it was all fabulous! They had a special buy 2 tapas and get 1 free, so that was nice. When Marissa brought our check, she also included a handwritten note with suggestions for local beers and breweries while we were in Albuquerque. Rolled in here on a Thursday night looking for good food, drinks, and the Niners game. GREAT ambiance!!! There's an outside area with plenty of seating. Inside is dark, a little too dark for me. But the food was AWESOME!!! My wife was craving a salad, they had it. I was preparing for a marathon, so I was little more open. Got the 1/2 BLT and soup. Green Chili chowder was NICE!!! But it's really great for the Tapas and drinks. First of all, I didn't have a drink but looked at the menu and it was pretty good and VERY VERY good prices. From what I recall, they almost looked like regular happy hour prices elsewhere. THE TAPAS!!! I wish I was in a group of more people to try more. I had this pumpkin/corn dip that had a scoop of broiled goat cheese. TO DIE FOR!!! A bit spicy, but SO TASTY AND CREAMY!!! I'd (almost) go back to the ABQ just for this.
