the service was great and the ambience is beautiful but the food is not that good. i got the max n cheese and i drove 40 min for it and it was meh. for $24 i don't want a small meh dish. the mushrooms were just roasted same for the broccoli, no actual flavoring and the mac and cheese was creamy yes but didn't taste that good. i thought about getting a slice of cake and thank god i saved myself the $18. don't think i would come again unless it was to sit and drink a cute cocktail! read more

Veganize your weekend! Certainly a different ambience from the rest of New Brunswick, Veganized offers a fully vegan menu not only in their food but in their drinks and cocktails as well which is quite impressive. Hard to find in the sense that even a lot of vegans from out of town rarely know about this place and often list off spots in Princeton or Metuchen when I ask about good vegan spots. Wish they would do a little more promotional work to make themselves known. I knew it from it's previous business and always enjoyed the balcony area. Came here for a pre-show dinner before seeing the Fab Faux at the State Theatre (see my review)! Had a very pleasant meal with our friends. Only one of us is vegan in our group, so my wife and I were a bit worried about the foods available. We had mostly hits, but a couple of misses. I really liked my foods. The grilled mushrooms with Moroccan spices were a hit, along with the soup of the day which was a squash purée. My entree of the burger was quite nice. The condiments along with the extra crispy fries really made the course. My wife also had the mushrooms and fries, but her Caesar salad was a big letdown. She did not like the dressing made of mustard and she ended up not eating more than half of it. A split dessert of Karat Cake was decent. So were the two fruit and alcohol drinks we had. Between the four of us, $110 each couple including tax and tip. Very enjoyable for all. Not highly recommended, but recommended. Our friends said they'd definitely pass on Veganized to their friends as they live in the area. A good time! read more

By no means am I a vegan , however the ambience and food is spectacular. Drinks as well from their amazing cocktail menu ! The Timbale has been replaced by the nachos , it was delicious, very flavorful and I also had the tacos which had great flavor , would definitely order both again . Cool looking spot, their upstairs outdoor balcony seating reminds me of New Orleans and not something I come by in NJ often so it's def appreciated. Perfect for summer days and nights. However, after coming here twice I don't think I'll be back. 2 reasons why: #1 Food here is EXPENSIVE. $22 for a "bbq" skewers that consisted of overcooked tomatoes and undercooked seitan is unacceptable. Spent over $100 for dinner for two people. $8 for a side salad that consist of bagged mixed mesclun lettuce + carrots is unacceptable. Yeah, I paid $8 for lettuce that came out a bag... I ate it because the vinaigrette was pretty good + I was HUNGRY but I could tell even the shredded carrot is bagged. Yikes. The "off the grill" mushroom dish is tasty but NEVER ARRIVES HOT (I've had this more than once) which leads me to believe it isn't cooked to order. The Mac + cheese is good but not "the best" vegan Mac I've had as some reviews claim. The side Mac + cheese doesn't come with any crispy topping either. #2 Service is lacking. The wait staff seems confused and flustered even when the place isn't that crowded. Maybe they have mean management or a rude chef? Not sure what's making the staff uneasy but it makes for an unpleasant, slow experience. Also-- Restaurant 101: all the food should come out at the same time. It's just me and my date... my food comes out first and I'm just letting my food get cold waiting another 10 minutes for his food. This is weird y'all and simply not ok for the prices you pay here. Overall after eating a few things off their menu, drinking a few drinks, and experiencing their slow confused service, I can't really justify the prices on their menu. You wouldn't even miss the dairy in this dish; I would say that this is definitely the closest thing to real cheese that I have tasted. This dish contains elbow pasta, sweet potato cashew cream, bread crumbs, smoked shiitake, and roasted broccoli. We also tried the Deluxe Burger: Lentil mushroom burger, smoked eggplant, charred onion, special sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickles, sweet potato bun with a side of sweet potato wedges. There are a lot of flavors happening in this burger at the same time and they all work so well! The food here is great overall but my only suggestion would be to use less salt. Came here to get pancakes yesterday and they were delicious. We ordered the grilled mushrooms appetizer. It took 25 minutes before the mushrooms came out and about 35 minutes before the pancakes came out (both orders placed at the same time) Service was good and the employees are very welcoming and kind from the time you walk in until the time you leave. While the 5 stack was flavorful, I was expecting fresh strawberries and could have used a side of something with the pancakes. It didn't seem like an option. I DID enjoy the infused water they brought to the table: lemon, mint, and strawberry. Updated: they have a new location, so we decided to check them out. In desperate of a cocktail. The beverages weren't bad at all. The watermelon and mint was a bit too minty. They have some serious NYC prices. I wasn't overly impressed with the food. The Mex-I-Can had an interesting taste and the nacho pumpkin seeds, not necessary. Aspects of the meal were good: onion rings, guacamole, and the polenta were great. Good flavor profile, but "pinche". The soup came with four pumpkin seeds and a small cracker. A request for hot sauce came with a $2 upcharge. Historically, vegan food has been about modest prices and simple, plant based nutritious foods. That culture is not present at Veganize. Restaurant management should consider complimentary baba ganoush, kimchi, crackers, oat straw tea, etc... anything really. Cocktail drinks were unique and very tasty! I absolutely loved the philly pizza and flatbread as well as the fries. However, the beet rawvioli, chocolate torte, and sweet potato wedges were super bland and unflavorful. The beet rawvioli was literally clumps of pesto on top of beet, which was plated fancily and it was not good. The texture for the chocolate torte was not appealing and it did not taste good, it was plated on some sort of porridge looking liquid which was honestly kind of gross. Used to eat here when I was vegan and the hotdogs are soooo good. However the food is very pricy so be mindful of that if you eat here. Majority of the stuff has nuts in it so please be careful with what you get. Still very good food just wish the price was lower. read more

Came here for lunch and really enjoyed it. Disclaimer- we are not fully vegan but do enjoy eating vegan. It was more expensive than we realized though. Upon walking in, I immediately noticed all the old sideshow pictures of performers. Reminded me of the Coney Island Sideshow. We sat upstairs and had a very pleasant server. We first ordered the beet raw-violi for $9 and it was great. I love beets so I was a fan. I ordered the Mackin Cheese for $16 for my meal and M ordered the Mex-I-Can meal with polenta. My Mackin Cheese came with broccoli and mushrooms on the side. It was like 3 meals worth of food! Very good and reheated nicely the next day. M's Mex-I-Can meal was delicious. If you love polenta and beans this is for you. I also ordered a mint iced tea which came in a bottle. Very refreshing. This place seems to have a lot of dishes that mimic meat and dairy based dishes rather than just a plate of vegetables. Not that a plate of vegetables would be bad, but you could make that at home. Loaded with good food and gluten free options, the staff all act very professionally and do their best to cater to your needs. You'd think a vegetarian like me would be a fanatic about trying vegan restaurants. I can literally eat ANYTHING on the menu. WHAT! Seems like a dream! But even though my picky-self typically has trouble finding veg options at typical restaurants, I was SO doubtful about trying a vegan restaurant. This is the first and only vegan restaurant I've had, and I'm sort of afraid to try anywhere else because Veganized has been so good to me! Their food is consistently delish. You cannot go wrong with the Deluxe Burger. I was skeptical because I don't eat mushrooms, but this burger is BOMB DOT COM. You can taste the freshness and it's on another level of flavorful (charred onions, ftw!). My S.O., who's a meat lover, loved the burger as well! Food takes a little bit to come out so be prepared, but don't fret, you'll be provided with some refreshing water infused with strawberry, mint, and lemon to sip on! Anddd on top of the amazing food, the cherry on top is that they also have remarkable customer service! Price point is a bit much. I can somehow convince myself it's okay to spend $16 on a veggie burger, but although I love their Mackin Cheeze (seriously, how the heck is that not really cheese!?!!) I cannot justify spending $16 on mac & cheese. I understand the time, effort, and ingredients that go into vegan cuisine is unique and extensive; however, since I'm not vegan, it's more reasonable to find more some of these foods elsewhere. Home run!!!!! Love this place. Parking is a problem especially now.the building across the street is gone. Find a good.spot.to.park.and it's worth the walk. I don't throw around 5 stars a lot. I've been wanting to try this place because I've been trying to find places that is ALL vegan. This place was great!! I really enjoyed the burger, very tasty!! I also had the 14 Karat Cake, it doesn't hold up to the transitional carrot cake but it was really tasty, it satisfied my sweet tooth. I can't wait to come back and try other menu items.
