I was taken back after sitting just a couple of minutes by Angel the awesome tech. I love the technology of this office. They do digital X-rays and photos. Super easy no pain no stress, and super quick. I saw Dr Kaplan today. She is so nice and I got a great report today. My hygienist was Chelsea. I hadn't had an appointment with her in like a year. I guess I was scheduled with a different hygienist. She is so great! She is very detailed and personable. We caught up on what we have both been up to this last year, during my treatment. I just love the personalized care. I do have new info that they are using a new and improved fluoride treatment. It is water soluble. And it only has to stay on for 15 minutes to be effective. That means you only have to wait 15 minutes before you eat or drink anything. They have two flavors right now mint or watermelon. The watermelon flavor is light and sweet. I like it. They gave me sunglasses to wear during the exam so the bright light they use to see doesn't blind me. Lol. I was able to book my next 3 appointments while sitting in the comfy chair. I received a tooth brushing kit, perfect for travel or work. Check out was super quick. This office is professional, friendly and efficient. Team work in action. The hours are also important to me. They are able to get me in, late afternoon after school hours. So perfect! This office is right between my school and my house so it's perfect for me. There is always plenty of parking. There are spots right outside the door or right across. I like to pop over to Trader Joe's and dollar tree when I'm over here. I highly recommend. Check them out.

There was constant turnover -- the hygienist seemed different at nearly every cleaning, and my dentist changed multiple times. With each visit, the overall bedside manner felt less personal and more rushed. There seemed to be little concern about explaining treatment plans or helping elevate concerns I had. What ultimately concerned me most was the treatment planning. After seeking several second opinions, I was told by other dentists that some of the recommended treatment recommendations, including crowns, were aggressive and unnecessary. That raised serious red flags for me. I also began to feel uncomfortable with the front office staff. There was noticeable pressure to agree to additional services, and when I asked questions or declined treatment, the response sometimes felt dismissive. Because of these experiences, I decided it was best to switch providers. I hope they can refocus on consistency, patient communication, and more conservative treatment recommendations in the future.

She wants full payments before service is rendered and does not use your insurance even if your insurance covers the procedure(s). I've asked for a procedure/explanation/cost breakdown sheet as to what's going to get done but I haven't gotten anything. Over the phone the dentist states that she prides herself on patient care but not advocate when it comes to cost or insurance. She dismissed my Mother from her practice all because my Mother called the insurance company to make sure if what my Mom was getting done does or does not cover the procedure. She didn't let me ask her questions over the phone and said to respond by email. I'm trying to get a hold of the office by email and by phone but no one is answering or returning my email. What kind of practice is that????!!!!

After I received my Explanation of Benefits from my insurance, I noticed several issues and called the insurance company to verify. They confirmed that my concerns were valid. The main issue was that my secondary insurance had been billed as the primary insurance. Delta confirmed they had no record of my primary insurance on file, only a note stating that I had another insurance plan. I worked with a Delta representative, and they explained that everything would need to be resubmitted either by the dental office or through a claim filed by me. When I brought this to the office staff's attention, I was not looking for an argument. I was simply trying to point out the issue so they could review it and correct the billing. Unfortunately, the staff became defensive and rude. That experience is what ultimately caused me to lose trust in the office after being a patient there for five years. To be clear, this review is not about the doctor's performance. My concern is strictly with the billing process and the way the office staff handled the situation. A billing mistake can happen, but how it is addressed matters. Patients should feel heard and respected when they bring forward legitimate concerns.

Today I was able to do the other side of my mouth and she did another great job. She's caring, and has a tremendous amount of joy for her profession with makes her heart smile. Since it was my first visit, they did X-rays too. I was told the visit would be $25. I thought I'd be there for an hour. I was there for 2 hours and 15 min. They really should tell you that the first visit is going to be this long so people can plan accordingly. They told me to arrive 15 minutes before my appointment, but I waited a half hour before I left the waiting room. I had already filled out the paperwork online, so there was no need for me to be there so early. The dentist was pleasant and thorough . She did my exam and reviewed the procedures she recommended. Then, the insurance girl came in to talk about what my insurance covers. I told her all I wanted today was the cleaning. For some reason that price was now $75 instead of the $25 they told me it would be when I first arrived. I paid the $75. Finally, the hygienist came in to clean my teeth. She was very friendly and she did a great job cleaning my teeth. On my way out, I noticed they had a sign in the window that said a cleaning, exam, and x-rays was $59 for new patients. I'm not sure why I was charged $75, even with my insurance, if they're only charging other new clients $59. Overall, the medical professionals at this office were professional and competent. The wait time and total visit time took too long. And I feel like I overpaid considering they charged me more with insurance, than they do people without.

The staff let me know I had a…read morebalance from last November that my insurance didn't pay, so we settled up before I went back, and they gave me a receipt. First was the X-ray room, where you bite a piece of plastic hooked to a machine that circles you while you try not to breathe. Next up was X-rays in the chair. It happens with every office. They put what looks like a car part in your mouth, and it never fits because it also looks like a binder clip in a strange way. Every angle is pointy. You really have to wonder why and how this sharp thing was made to go in your mouth. Some techs put it in so wrong you'd think it was piercing your skull. Luckily today was not that day. This office is good about taking their time and making sure patients are comfortable. Then Dr. Nguyen entered. Open wide! Sunglasses on and paper napkin around my neck, I sat there agape. He quickly made his way around my teeth with his sharp little dental tool and his supersonic water blaster made to knock off any buildup. The tech stayed and did suction detail. When done, Dr. moved over to the next room and the tech polished my teeth. The whole process from arrival to setting my next cleaning was about 20 minutes. See you in November, Dr. Nguyen!

I can no longer recommend Ascend Dental Studio in Henderson. They seem to have let go of the best…read morepeople who made the place worthwhile. The professional, kind, and truly caring staff--including Dr. Matt, Tracey, and the hygienist--are gone, and the quality has suffered dramatically as a result. I recently went in for a routine cleaning. During the procedure, I was told I had to wear the black plastic protective glasses, or I wasn't welcome there and should leave. When I explained to Dr. Timothy Luong that I'm severely claustrophobic and have a history of panic attacks from previous life-threatening surgeries, he showed zero empathy. He didn't listen to my concerns at all--he simply insisted on the glasses and, when I couldn't comply due to my medical condition, asked me to leave immediately. This complete lack of compassion and accommodation for a legitimate health issue was shocking and unacceptable. No effort was made to discuss alternatives or understand my situation. I felt dismissed and disrespected as a patient. I will never step foot in Ascend Dental again and strongly advise others to think twice before choosing this practice. However, I have a problem with their billing practices! In March 2024. I had my root canal done at the same office and there was no "mandatory 3-D x-ray" charge. However, today, the girl at the front desk insisted that it was mandatory ! I asked her did they have 3-D x-rays 50 years ago when they were doing root canals? She remained quiet. I think it's appalling that they pad their bill $339 for this procedure knowing very well our insurance didn't cover it l! if it was so necessary then why didn't my insurance cover it?
