The store was clean probably because they had 8 people working out front, but one person running the register. Service was however super slow and at least two of the employees were literally wandering around looking lost. The price point was rather high for what we got. For example I got the BLTA which was burnt to a crisp round "bacon" with several pieces of salad lettuce literally chopped lettuce, a very thin tomatoe and a micro slice of avocado on a crouton shaped like a thin piece of bread. It was very difficult to eat and was very very dry...plus a few fries and that was about 12$. I have never been to a Veggie Grill and probably will not try it again which is sad because they had some great looking choices. Wanted to like this place. Vegan fast food chain? It's almost too good to be true. Everything we tried was plain, plain, plain. Multiple burgers revealed themselves to be flavorless and dry. Absolutely the worst and most terrible customer service I have ever seen. I am a mother to 4 adult kids (35, 29, 41, 44) and 4 of the grandchildren in our group. We arrived on a Sunday w reservations. We were celebrating my 2nd daughter's 41st birthday. She is vegan and so isher family. At the start, the server was rude and condescending saying that we needed to tell "our friends" to plan better next time when we let her know there were more people arriving in our group. We tried to brush it off as her being overwhelmed but there were only a few people in the restaurant. In our group there were 3 kids about 7 yrs old, a 17 year old and everyone else were adults. We were told that we would get a table in the back but if we could eat outside it was preferred. The kids were cold and we asked to eat inside. We were seated at a large corner table and two booths. Not what we were promised but we'd been waiting an hour at this point. We sat down and she just put menus sporadically around the table and left. We tried to figure out the items on the menus which many of the adults had questions about. She arrived back at the table to take our order and started with the corner table. The two young girls were looking out the window and she said in a strict tone "Girls, you need to turn around, who do you think has to clean those windows?" The windows were filthy but the girls stopped looking out them and sat down like they'd just been scolded. Next. The 17 year old was asking about one of the burgers and she interrupted him and said "you have to order this and then this and then you can call it "_the name of the burger_." Abruptly, she said it looks like you aren't ready to order. I'll just come back when you are. Keep in mind, we just got seated, no waters, no questions answered. She came to each of our tables asking if we were ready to order. None of us were and we were confused w the menu. At this point, my youngest daughter came to my table on the verge of tears and said we need to leave. That this server has been rude to us and our children. We all stood up to go as we all agreed she was accurate on this servers behavior. Keep in mind 4 of us in the group are in our mid 60s. As we were leaving she came to see why we were leaving and my 41 year old said it was her birthday and they wanted to try a new place and that she was not happy with the her condescending attitude around the kids and our family. After, every one left, I explained to the Server that my kids had been servers before and they understood about being busy but when she started being rude and short patience with the kids we won't accept that. I also told her as a group we have never ever walked out of a restaurant like this before and that is how extreme her behavior was. This Server could have made alot in tips today. We are a loving family and appreciate good customer service. We are well mannered and polite. She however was not To have my 3 adult daughters that upset and an embarrassed 17 year and two precious little girls have their spirits squished is not acceptable. You would've had a huge family for life but none of us will ever come back after this. We drove 20 miles out of our towns just to come try your place. To conclude, we packed back up in the 6 cars we came in, headed to Veggie Grill, spent about $400 and tipped them well. All hail kale! The battle cry of the vegan foot soldier? Maybe, but it's also the name of the signature salad at Portland's newest vegan contender in the 'tron. Veggie grill, sprouted from seed in LA, has finally opened an outpost in the most vegan-heavy metro in the US, and where do they go first? The burbs! ...? Well, I guess that sorta makes sense. The 'burbs are hungry for new, good food, and this is, god forbid we use the word, a 'chain', which would seem to fit well in the land where chains dominate. But honestly, this concept will do anywhere. Tasty, wholesome, fresh and nutritious food... and plenty of vegan junk food too. Burgers, soy "meat" sandwiches, buffalo wings and more - there is plenty of fodder here for those that are normally confined to side-dishes or re-configured menu items. But unlike the other vegan junk food outposts in PDX, the menu here is balanced between indulgent and healthy. And even the indulgent stuff, since it lacks meat based protein, is free of trans fats and saturated fats. But enough with the health talk, what really matters is the food. And I can say it's good. The All Hail Kale salad consists of chopped kale, corn, tomatoes and various other deliciousness tossed with a tasty dressing and topped with carrot. I added the 'chickin' to mine and it was surprisingly chicken-like (except in final texture). Fortunately it was not crazy heavy on the seitan, as that stuff destroys me. More protein than gluten. I scarfed that mess down quick. Along the lines of the healthy vibe, the Veggie Grill doesn't offer regular sodas. They have one natural root beer and then some other teas/juices and such. So don't roll in here expecting to cap your veggie asada sandwich and sweet potato fries with 32oz of sugary, carbonated goodness. The space is clean and bright, and when we were there the service impeccable. I could totally see myself coming here more often if it weren't so far away from where I live. But they're opening another downtown soon, so I won't have to wait. This is definitely a trend I can get behind. read more

I absolutely loved Veggie Grill! I'm not a fan of fake meat, but the Crispy Santa Fe sandwich was really delicious! I ordered red cabbage slaw as my side, but I didn't like it as much as regular cole slaw. I went up and ordered a side of sweet potato fries and got the chipotle ranch dressing to dip it in. Oh so yummy! I ended up taking the chipotle ranch dressing home with me so that I could put it on my bean burritos the next day. The staff is really friendly and went over and beyond duty to my pain in the butt requests! I ate in the restaurant, but I was given a to go cup, so that I could get a refill of the delicious tea when I was ready to leave. The space is really hip and modern, very clean. I heard about Veggie Grill for years thanks to their success in California and was thrilled to hear a location opened in Oregon. The menu is versatile and accessible, the place is clean and bright and the staff is friendly and helpful. On my recent visit I tried the all hail kale salad with blackened chicken, the buffalo wings and the nachos. All three items were phenomenal, there's not a single thing I would change about them. I love how huge and well presented the kale salad is, I love the spiciness of the wings made perfect with a cooling ranch and the nachos were exactly what I expected to get for $5. I'm often frustrated with other restaurants that offer nachos because they're way too huge and way too expensive, I simply want a few bites to indulge my craving and then I want to move on to my entree. (/rant) Veggie Grill has definitely mastered the art of churning out great-tasting food in an aesthetic and timely manner, Henry Ford would be proud. We got our food in less than 10 minutes (possibly closer to five, it all happened so fast) and everything tasted fresh and homemade (which it is). The presentation isn't compromised at all with their efficiency, the dishes all came out beautifully served. I also visited on a day that it was slammed busy, there was barely room to stand as I waited for my takeout order yet my whole order only took about 10-15 minutes. Totally worth it. I plan to work my way through every single item on the menu, every dish sounds scrumptious. Though everything is plant-based and vegan, I think this is the kind of restaurant that can appeal to the masses, teetering between healthful options and more indulgent ones, making it a great compromise for a variety of appetites. I would become a vegetarian or even vegan if someone cooked like this for me everyday! Exceptionally good, fresh, and eye appealing food: sandwiches, soups, salads, wraps, bowls and a great beer selection to boot. Have not had a bad meal any time we've visited. The tempura green beans were free with every entrée one day and they should not be missed. The "burgers" and "chicken" wings would fool most any hardcore carnivore. Very friendly staff, clean, colorful, and relaxing. Can get a little loud when busy and seating is semi-communal, so not a lot of space between tables makes for any private conversation being overheard by strangers...which wasn't a totally bad thing as we had a great time talking with another couple next to us about the food we had all ordered. Parking can be difficult since the lot is shared by the Beaverton Powell's books and other mall-like anchor stores. We are lucky enough to go mostly during the week so we miss the weekend crowds. This place proves there's still hope for America after all. What a great place for a tasty, casual, affordable meal that is actually good for you! I had the All Hale Kale salad. The salad itself is awesome. Kale is light and crunchy - no need fo fear! It had a delightful, light, sweet dressing and chopped tomatoes makes it a delight to eat. The color from the orange carrot shavings and purple chopped cabbage makes it beautiful to look at. I am not a hard core veggie yet so opted to add the grilled chickin. Note the "in" in "chickin." I was split between 3 and 4 stars here, but I'm kicking it to four because of the food, the marvelous owners and quick in and out. First off - yes, it's a pricey lunch. I don't eat here too much because of that factor, but I still swing by every so often. My pick is the Santa Fe Chickin' Kale Style (on a bed of kale instead of a bun) - and upgrade my side to the sweet potatoes fries. First let me tell you about those fries. WHOA. I've never understood the concept "sweet" and "potato" so I've never actually had one of these. I finally caved since I read a billion positive things about them. Crispy, sweet and salty. We went to the Veggie Grill for lunch on their grand opening and was super stoked! The menu is amazing, the staff friendly, and the location is super clean and well laid out. Parking is EZ. I got the VG Cheeseburger with sweetheart fries, and, while it was served on the cold side, it was very yummy. BONUS - eat the burg first, and the oozy cheeze/ketchup drippings are great with your fries. My wife got the soup and salad (soup was a tomato basil, the salad was Kale). She said it was very creamy and filling. We also shared an order of the chill out wings (they are deelish, but scarily similar to chicken). The BBQ sauce is superb as well. By the time we left, we couldn't eat the cookie we got, so we'll save it for another day. I think next time I'll go with the Chipotle BBQ sammy. Although a bit pricey the $8.95 Santa Fe Crispy Chicken (dipped in Buffalo sauce) is a sandwich that will make you question your textures! Yes it is a vegan sandwich and no! that's not chicken but with each bite you are sure to rethink it and as you pull the sandwich away from lips you will take a double and triple take to make sure. The wheat bun is soft and the only complaint I would have is that it breaks up two to three bites away from finishing. I chose the Sweet Potato Fries as my accompaniment of choice and they were decent enough to get through. Please allow me to "postface" as I am not a fan of sweet potatoes or yams in any form other than pie. As if the aforementioned wasn't enough to make me a believer as I rounded the corner of the main counter and back toward the beverage counter I came upon what is guaranteed to keep me coming back; Organic Peach Iced Tea!!! Ok ok.. I have to give kudos to this little place. This place is truly a Portland gem. Having just opened up here by work, I was thrilled. Went in with a gf today from work for lunch and I have to say excellent excellent food!! What a creative and healthy place to stumble upon. I noticed they had so many healthy choices. You would have never guessed it wasn't meat. Being a not that big of a meat eater myself, I noticed that just all of it took my breath away. I wanted to try everything! I settled for the chili, some of the buffalo wings and the Kale salad. I really didn't eat that much but tried a little of everything that I had and took the rest with me. This is truly a green / vegan type of place and see why it is so popular. It was definitely packed. They are so friendly here and while it is not a wait staff type of place they treat you like it is. The second star is only because it's vegan. This chain used to be tasty. Not anymore! Nothing I've tried recently tastes like it used to. The Cedar hills location (closest to me) has been consistently bad to average since I moved here two years ago. I keep trying and they keep failing. Side note: lifelong vegetarian, choice is limited. Veggie Grill as a company is sliding pretty bad in key areas such as higher prices with much lower portion sizes, strange and cheap new dishes that are overpriced. Everything I have ordered has been wildly inconsistent and quality control for healthy ingredients, food prep, and overall cooking has gone down hill as they try to expand rapidly. Hey Veggie Grill, you do realize that prepping everything for the week ahead to save a few minutes/pennies results in mushy, tasteless, cold food. I am so over this company and their desire to follow the largest chain model business to the point of losing whatever soul(food) you had. Gotta love finding Veggie Grill locations in different places :) Came up for a visit with family a few weekends ago, and stopped in to the Grill for a bite to eat. My only complaint is on the design itself, which limits seating to groups of 4, generally speaking. They have about 4-5 booths and a smattering of tables close together against a wall with one big booth, which makes it hard for a group of 5+ to sit together. Delicious! My first introduction to the Veggie Grill was when they hosted an Elite Event and I scarfed down much vegan goodness. The event was a smashing success in that I want to return here, and often, and bring everyone I know. Word of mouth has never tasted so good. (That didn't quite come out right...) Veggie Grill is located in a strip mall in Beaverton and it looks generically unassuming from the outside, not to mention the uninspiring name. None of those things are very enticing, and if it weren't for the first event that got me through their doors, I might never have stepped foot in there. I'd be missing out in a big way. The food is fresh and tastes incredible and it's all vegan, not that you'd know it. The Grill has the great honor of being the only joint that has enticed me to try kale and like it (no mean feat to be sure). Their fake meat is finger-lickin' good and the dipping sauce that comes with the sweet potato fries does such a good job of masquerading as real mayo, you'd have sworn it was sinful. Another of my favorites is the Thai Chick'n salad, loaded with fresh greens, avocado, citrus-y quinoa, tiny mandarins and grill-blackened chick'n for a mix of flavors that's like a delightful punch in the mouth. I do love the food here. My favorites are the VG-Burger and buffalo wings. The sad part is how dirty the restaurant has become. All the suede seat backs are grossly stained. My feet stick to the floor. Most of the tables are really dirty. I want to say it's from how busy they were during the day but we came in at exactly the time they opened and it was this dirty. Beyond stunned at how bad the food was. My husband too one bite of the nachos and they were so spicy and physically hot that they burnt his tongue and roof of his mouth. He can't taste anything, and trying to eat anything else is now painful. The jalapeños were extremely overpowering and in literally every bite- likely would have sent me into labor had I tried them like I wanted to. No warning on the menu, no nothing. The mac n cheese was by far the worst I've ever had my in life. Extremely undersalted and tasted more like some strange coconut milk than anything else. I've had the crispy portobellos, veggie burger, and a few different bowls. The crispy portobellos are CRUCIAL. They are literally the best appetizer (although I've gotten them as a meal) I've ever had, vegan or not. The bowls have all been great..kind of random ingredients thrown in a big bowl but it usually makes for a tasty mixture, especially with avocado. The veggie burger was definitely lack luster. I would never get it again or recommend it when there's so many other options! Coleslaw side was also a bust. The employees are hit and miss on kindness. There's a few women with tons of attitude but there's one amazing guy that makes up for it. He's so happy about the food and just genuinely wants you to have a great experience. We showed up at 8 pm when closing times are marked online as 9pm only to find a handmade sign in the window saying they closed early (7pm) due to AC issues and other building issues. Veggie Grill was another stop on my quest to try more vegetarian/vegan restaurants and it did not disappoint! This place was clean and the service was fast. I thought I had stopped by at a random time but the restaurant was pretty crowded when I got there. They have a decent number of seats indoors and they also have outdoor seating to accommodate customers. Everything on the menu is vegetarian. My mom ordered the "fish" tacos, but there wasn't actually fish in them. Instead, the "fish" consisted of some mysterious blend of vegetables and other ingredients (it actually didn't taste too bad). My dad ordered the Seoul Bowl and I ordered the Crispy Grains and Greens Bowl, which is a part of the summer menu, and loved it! The tofu was delicious and the tangy Thai dressing complemented it well. Toward the end of my dish, however, I thought that the tanginess of the dressing got to be a little overwhelming. The creaminess of the avocado helped to tone it down. I will definitely be back to try the other items on the menu. Everything looked pretty good! The food was decent considering it was all vegetarian. The most important part was that it was actually filling. This is only our first visit to Veggie Grill, even though it's been on my radar as a place to try for months now. I had a hard time getting my family in there, for some reason. We're not even big meat eaters.I mean, we don't eat beef, we eat vegetarian a lot, and we regularly eat tofu, Gimme Lean,Field Roast, and various Boca products at home... what gives? Maybe because it's a chain? Hubby had food catered by them at a work event recently, however, and enjoyed his salad. He was impressed with the long carrot strands. ( note: husband is not typically impressed by anything food related). Anyway, we popped in after the movies, around 4pm, we call it lunner. Princess' father ordered Thai Chickin salad ( about $10). It came with a pile of nice green lettuce, mandarin oranges, fried noodly things,long thin carrots, corn and tomato salsa, some fake chicken protein stuff that was actually tasty with good texture ( sometimes the texture is the issue with vegan for us) and a slightly sweet Asian inspired dressing. He liked it okay, Princess liked it a lot. She took his plate away and picked at it when he was about 3/4 of the way done. Brother in law ordered " all Hail Kale" ( $8 and some change plus a couple more bucks for protein) and his complaint was that there was "too much Kale". He told the manager that when he came around to ask how we were doing, and it was explained they put the stuff on top for presentation and the customer would ideally stir it up to mix the ingredients together. BIL left quite a bit of kale on his plate at the end. Maybe too much of a good thing? But it is called "All Hail Kale" so I think you would expect a lot of Kale. ( I suspect he missed the parmesan and bacon our family usually cooks with our kale-- sorry vegans but it's true). I ordered the Papa's Portobello ( $8.50), because I could. My mushroom eschewing family wasn't going to have to share it, yeah! It was pretty good, it came on a grainy bun with some cooked onions and some raw onions, a blob of pesto and tomato and lettuce... it had chipotle ranch ( soy ranch) and sweetheart fries next to it. The sweetheart fries cost another couple $2.50. The mushroom was kind of wet, is my only complaint. Drippy. But it had a nice flavor and it was not rubbery. The fries were tasty, and I liked the dusty seasoning they had on them. Princess stated she wasn't hungry ( too much popcorn at the movie), but the nice man brought her mac and cheese when he saw she had no food in front of her. He also brought her an empty plate at my request... she shared her dad's salad and my sweet potato fries, which she dunked in ketchup. She liked those, the mac and cheese not so much. It is made with quinoa pasta ( she typically likes quinoa) and some kind of soy based cheese goopy sauce.It had a nutty, somewhat fruity maybe? taste that she did not enjoy. We all tasted it and agreed it wasn't so great. According to the menu there are bread crumbs on top, this version didn't have any ( um,it's free, so I'm not really into complaining about this). I think we'd try the bread crumb version next time and see what we think. All in all though this was a successful visit. It certainly is an easy place to eat healthy, which we are trying to do, and it has enough choices to satisfy most people. I wish they'd put their nutrition info ( like sodium content and calories, fat, etc.) on their website. It makes me a tad suspicious that it's not on there. So I've eaten here 3x. First time I had the kale salad. Presentation was nice. Restaurant looks good and service was fast. Salad tasted good, but was basic and not satisfying. The second time i had the samta fe chickin sandwich. It was good. The third time i split the thai salad and the bayou chickin sandwich and sweet potatoe fries. Fries were good. We didnt' care for the sandwich. The salad was good, but i didn't care for the protein in it. Verdict: Great style and presentation. If a vegetarian wanted to go there, I could eat there and be content. Otherwise, I prefer meat or veggies and not imitation meat. Staff is always friendly. I discovered this chain years ago while visiting L.A. and have been dreaming about it ever since, so I was very excited to find that there are two locations in and near Portland. One of my favorite places to order in Portland! I wish there were more Veggie Grills around.

I am a carnivore. With that said, I've been to Veggie Grill three times and they do a pretty awesome job of creating plant-based "meat" offerings. Try the Buffalo Bomber (Crispy Chickin' tossed with spicy Buffalo sauce, tomato, red onion, lettuce, creamy ranch dressing) or the Santa Fe Crispy Chickin' (Fried Chickin', lettuce, tomato, red onion, avocado, spicy vegan mayo). DEFINITELY get a side of the Sweetheart Fries (scrumptious sweet potatoes with chipotle ranch). Sides I also recommend are the Cauli-Mashed Potatoes + Gravy (fresh cauliflower blended with mashed potatoes, porcini mushroom gravy with fresh rosemary) and the red cabbage 'slaw. Sides I don't recommend are the chili (very bland), Mac-n-Cheese (did not taste like cheese), Steamin' Kale (no way of describing it other than it had a residue like texture). As far as desserts go, try the Carrot Cake (fresh carrots, walnuts, VG cream cheese frosting). The cake is moist and not too sweet! Pass on the Chocolate Chip Cookie (made in-house daily with organic flour, cane juice, walnuts, dark chocolate chips). The cookie was just too hard and dry. read more

Coming from Los Angeles california where vegan options are endless when I'm in town the one place that brings me home is this place. Honestly couldn't explain how good the food the service and the cleanliness of the restaurant. If I could do 10 stars I would. Keep it up read more

I have diet restrictions due to a genetic disease I was recently diagnosed with. The list of what I can't eat is fairly long, including no soy. I came here exhausted and ordered the santa fe chicken sandwich. After getting my food I realized I forgot to check and sure enough it's made with soy protein. The people working were wonderful, they talked with me about it and switched my order to the beyond burger. When I offered to pay the extra fee the guy working told me that it's not a problem. I felt horrible messing up my order, but the two people working at the counter were understanding of my situation. The beyond burger is delicious and soy free. Friendly staff & clean tables to eat in. Greet with a smile. They bring the dishes to you when ready. Food smell really good for warm dishes and the salad also looked great too. If you like gourmet soda u have to try the root beer by Margo's a Cali base company. Too bad they are not in Eugene, OR. Maybe one day. :-) read more

I come here pretty often. Everything is delicious. I love the beyond burger, the new Far East bowl has so much flavor. The staff is amazing and thoughtful. I enjoy every visit. To the people complaining of portion sizes, what if I told you the caloric intake is the recommended intake for a single mean, and on some dishes still a little high. I love the portion sizes. This is what a portion should look like, and I love that it makes it easier for me to have portion control. read more

First time in. Had the Beyond Crispy Tacos, and all I can say is Awesome! So tasty. I ordered a side of small fries, perfection. Will definitely be back! read more

Food and service were excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed the koreatown tacos and extra help from the cashier. She was friendly and a delight to order from. I loved the decor and the option to sit at the bar. My only complaint is it seemed slightly overpriced. read more
