Close up to appreciate the fresh herbs, jalapeños and the amazing texture of the sesame chick'n.

The cashier/server was so nice and friendly. The food was extremely fresh and tasty. It was a nice day so we decided to sit outside on the patio. This is such a wonderful bowl full of flavor and all plant based. It's the Far East Thai Bowl with sesame vegan chick'n.

First off, I'm not a vegetarian, but this place.... OMG! I got the 'carne asada' taco and it was amazing!!! The service was incredible nice and helpful. The atmosphere was almost a bit too quiet, but I do like that! I am not in the area too often, but next time I am in Carlsbad, I definitely want to come back! Thanks for a great tasting taco!!

I'm about as far from a vegetarian as one can get, but the Cali Tempeh Power Bowl here is so tasty I don't miss meat at all! Not really a fan of patties and such that "pretend" to be meat, so I do prefer Veggie Grill's bowls and salads over their burgers and sandwiches. For some reason, the app often glitches for me when I try to order through it, but staff at this location has always been helpful in resolving any issues - great customer service! This is one of my go-tos for Meatless Mondays and other guilt-free, fast casual dining occasions. Pro tip: sign up for the rewards program for great freebies!

Very healthy menu! The smoothie was protein filled and delicious. It's counter order but the server brought it to the table . It was a big place with many places to sit. Larger for groups. Or small parties . The food items looked good also .

Love a bowl? Need some fresh veggies in your life? Need a fulfilling nutritious meal? Go to Veggie Grill! I had the CA Tempeh Power Bowl and it was spot on, my kind of meal. I loved the sesame gochu sauce and all the textures of ancient grains, almonds, tempeh, shredded carrots. I seriously loved this meal, and I'd say it's another great bowl! Their Buffalo chik'n tenders are also yummy with celery. Don't underestimate celery and ranch, by the way.

I tried the eggplant Parmesan burger and it was great. My husband did find it to be a little oily so if you're on the side of finding weird after taste of oil when you eat fried foods, maybe avoid this.

Veggie grill had great seasonal items and promotions on their app. I tried their October special which was the mean green franken burger. It had great flavor and sauce, and their pumpkin spice cake was moist and delicious! The cooks are always on point with fast food preparation and presentation even for takeout. The times I have been inside, there have been only been a few people working so the dining room was not cleaned of dirty plates timely. I usually order my food to go but I will always come back to veggie grill when I'm in the area.

Buddha Brunch Bowl (that i had for dinner). sorry, it looks really unappealing but I forgot to take a picture before

so so good! If you're vegan or vegetarian and in Carlsbad, you've gotta try this place! i got the Buddha Brunch bowl and it was so delicious and balanced-- lots of veggies. I almost didn't order it because I thought it wasn't vegan based off the egg in the picture on the website. but this was a "Yo! egg" so no chickens involved. Most of the yoke did get on the container lid, but it's ok (the egg was my least favorite part anyway)! very happy that they use compostable packaging, and also happy that this bowl was deep! will have leftovers, yay!

My first time trying veggie grill. There's a lot of extra effort that that goes into making vegan food to try to get it to look and taste like non-vegan food. For example the vegan sunny side up egg on the sunriseh mochi Burger was very impressive with runny yolk that tasted close to the real thing. Food was served hot and freshly prepared by an attentive employee. Seating is also available outdoors at this location. Worth a try even if you're not vegan!

Buffalo Bomber. Like a buffalo chicken sandwich. It's very nice and not that spicy.
Craig W.

It was my first time here and I was wildly impressed. I'm not a vegan but I have a ton of respect for vegans. It's better for the planet and it's better for overall personal health. And I have a lot of respect when vegan food tastes great. You have to try harder to make vegan food taste great to non-vegans. The decor is very attractive inside and they have real plates, real silverware, and hard plastic glasses. So, it's a step up from most fast casual joints. The Buffalo Bomber is a very nice (fake) buffalo chicken sandwich. It comes with lettuce, tomato, ranch, and pickles that give the sandwich a nice snap. It's got a little bit of heat but nothing crazy. It's not an amazing sandwich but it's about as good as any similar buffalo chicken sandwich I've ever had which was made with real chicken. The chicken substitute here looks and tastes like real chicken. I'm not a big salad guy but the Caesar Crunch Salad was fantastic. It's made with kale and ciabatta croutons. The salad is wonderfully fresh and is obviously made with high quality ingredients. It's absolutely delicious. I would choose this sandwich for a meal any time and I never get salads as my main meal. Counter service was very friendly and helpful. Plenty of free parking in the lot but there is always parking available nearby because of the Costco parking lot. There is great food here, whether you are vegan or not.

Ask the Community - Veggie Grill by Next Level

Hi, do you use any tree nuts in any of your dishes? Is it safe for someone who's allergic to tree nuts to enjoy dishes without nuts at your restaurant?

Most of their dishes didn't seem to have nuts, but I know there was cookie that has nuts. So depending of your allergy level....they do process some nut items... so if you're looking for a nut free place this isn't quite it.

Do you use any dairy products in your facility ?Thanks!

It's completely vegan. So no.

I had a draft pilsner, and my husband had a key lime martini which was delicious! Neither too sweet or too tart. We were seated inside in a booth by a window with a gorgeous view of the Pacific. They also have a lovely patio, but we opted for inside due to the heat. Our server, Micheline, immediately made us feel comfortable with great recommendations. The starters came out faster than we expected and were excellent. The mushroom dip was not what we expected. It was thick & rich with a little heat. Very yummy! It was served with fried bread that made a great vehicle for sopping it up. We got one wedge salad (which they split for us). Very fresh, crisp veggies. Generous servings of cheese & bacon. My hubby who does not normally like ranch dressing enjoyed it as much as I did. Our entrees came out quickly as well. I got the sea bass. It was cooked perfectly. The sauce was rich & had a kick. My husband raved about his cioppino as some of the best he's had. Throughout the meal, Micheline was attentive without hovering, joked with us, and made us feel truly welcome. She raised an already outstanding meal to new heights. We didn't have room for dessert, so we'll have to visit again to try out the sweets. The entire experience from the bar to the final check was phenomenal. We will be back and will recommend it to all our friends.

It's an amazing oceanfront restaurant across from South Carlsbad State Beach. Best ceviche we've ever had! The sourdough bread is to die for! Our entrées which were salmon and Chilean Seabass were cooked to mouth-watering perfection! Of course the views were insane! To top it off our waitress, JILL was thoroughly delightful! Happy and knowledgeable and so much fun... She clearly loves her job! She was so attentive to us, we felt like we were the only diners there. :-) And she really knows her stuff! Pretty hilarious when we found out that my name is JILL, too, as we rarely meet many JILLs. We hit it off famously! Not only because the food was outstanding, and plated beautifully, but because of JILL we are definitely going back! And if you go----I mean WHEN go---you ask for her!

Don't miss out! What could be better than a camp store with pizza, beer and an ocean view?!…read more Before visiting, it's important to set your expectations accordingly. This is an actual camp store at the Carlsbad Campgrounds. If you're looking for fine dining, this is not the place. However, it's awesome for many other reasons. The food quality and menu is far better than your average beach shack. My wife and I love to split a fresh made pizza and salad, then grab drinks from the shop window next door. [Note: they also have fries and tater tots, which are the ultimate beach snacks by my standards.] The staff is laid back and you can't beat dining at a picnic table with a salty sea breeze. Better yet, they have live music regularly and evening light shows that make it fun for the whole family. Pro Tip: Parking is limited so carpool if you can. If the lot is full you can park at the nearby shopping center and it's a short walk to the entrance.

This is an experience unlike anything I've ever encountered and not for the good. The food is…read moreadequate, store is overpriced for the convenience it offers, but customer service, management (Bree), and Ownership (Anthony) are atrocious. They kicked out my family (including 4 year old daughter and 1 year old son who literally had food in their hand) on a Wednesday night that was more than half empty well before any music started. However, they let us first buy a round of drinks for 4 adults before kicking us out due to the "no outside food" policy. So with 4 full drinks purchased from them and our "outside food" from camp, they let us walk away with drinks in hand right past the sign that says "no alcohol beyond this point." So you're willing to sell me alcohol, then kick me out with drinks in hand to where alcohol is not allowed because I brought food from my campsite?? It gets better. Bree (the manager?) offers me Anthony's phony number who is apparently the owner. I call Anthony and explain the situation and express my frustration. The very first thing he says is "well you shouldn't grab women like that!!" Wait.... What?!? At this point I'm beyond perplexed and said "what are you taking about?!" He says "Bree said you grabbed her!" I laughed and said "sir, I have 6 people who were there, plus however many other patrons that can attest that at no point anyone was grabbed." Then he says "well she said you shook her hand firmly!" In this real life?! I get kicked out, then accused of "grabbing" the manager which quickly back peddled into "shaking her hand firmly." At this point, I realized I was dealing with people who have zero sense of savvy, customer service and fabricate lies to change a situation. They're fortunate to have the luxury of good location. Located anywhere else it would be a dumpster fire. Myself, nor my family or friends will ever spend another dollar here. Will that hurt them? Probably not, but if this review prevents one person from the same experience, then it's worth it.

Surprisingly, the sourdough bread bowl tasted more spectacular than the chowder. Although the soup had clean ingredients, it's runny and a little bland. I arrived at Pelly's Fish Market & Cafe (Carlsbad) on a Saturday (around 12:55PM). Parking is easy. The lot is very big. Customers order at the counter, and Staff brings the food to your table. Staff is polite enough. Staff had a very laid back, casual presence. The male staff member just appeared & plopped the food on the table before strolling over to chat with another customer. The clam chowder bowl arrived in 15 minutes. As mentioned, I appreciated the Boston Clam Chowder Bread Bowl ($16.99). The soup was unremarkable, but the sourdough bread is phenomenal. I liked how the clam chowder is peppery and piping hot, but it's also fairly bland and runny. It had a very watery consistency. Thankfully, that fresh sourdough saved this meal. On ambiance, Pelly's Fish Market & Cafe (Carlsbad) is clean and comfortable. There's plenty of tables. There's also a gender neutral restroom in the back. I had just been to their "sister" restaurant "The Black Rail" for a wonderful Monday burger, fries and glass of wine special. That is what led me next door to Tinleaf. So, I went alone for lunch...ordered the " West Coast Cobb" salad, an order of extra crispy Belgian French fries and a lovely Chardonnay.
