After my physical today where my doctor told me I had to start eating more veggies and less meat/carbs, I grudgingly went to Veggie grill and had a surprisingly delicious "chicken" sandwich & fries! I know. I know (The fries) but I'm making baby steps. As an even more shocking surprise, the employees generally seemed happy to work there & helpful. Lots of smiles + they pick up your plates after you eat. I tried to clean up but they didn't let me! I enjoyed my meal AND I wouldn't pay to eat here. I got the Harvest bowl with tempeh. They didn't include the ancient grains. And then the description doesn't say anything about a dressing so I didn't ask for dressing on the side like I normally do, and I thought the dressing was tooo much. It was very sweet. I would've added about half. The bowl had good ingredients and dressing was fine if it had been in a more moderate quantity. My main reason I wouldn't pay to eat here is the amount of food for the money. My bowl was $17 or $19 before tax, and I finished it (no leftovers) and was still a little hungry. If it had had the ancient grains like it was supposed to, probably woulda been more filling? But even then, for being fast casual, $20 feels pricey. Got this to go so can't comment on ambiance. I did not have a great experience here at all. I don't know what I was expecting, tbh- but it's not what I got. You couldn't pay me to come back here again, I wouldn't do that to my tastebuds again, I pray they forgive me for making them endure such terrible food. I first ordered the bulgogi beef protein bowl (marinated bulgogi beef, cauliflower rice, brussels sprouts, roasted tomatoes, pickled cucumber, green onion, sesame seeds. | 36g protein; 21 net carbs) and the first bite I took of the beef was like the scene in SpongeBob when he tastes Gary's food- his tongue shrivels and he makes a sour face. It was SO SALTY! I never do this, but I seriously couldn't take another bite, so I decided to ask for something else on the menu. I ordered The Far East Bowl (choice of sesame-crusted chickin' or grilled tofu, brown rice, cilantro green curry sauce, spicy broccoli, green papaya salad, fresno peppers, crispy shallots, thai sweet chili sauce, mint+cilantro). I love Veggie Grill . So many things to choose from on the menu ! It's great for the family. I like the Crab Sandwich. Really tastes like the real thing. If not the Crab cake sandwich I'll go with the Santa Fe Chicken. This time around I tried the Nashville hot Chicken sandwich. The hot oil has a nice kick to it, not bad ! I usually hate eating pickles but it added a good crunch. They have delivery in certain areas with the Grub Hub app. There's a app you can download and you'll receive rewards or points with every purchase. I like how this Veggie Grill is in the same plaza as Whole Foods and Trader Joes. I'll shop for groceries right after dinner and won't feel so guilty ! read more

This review is for Sunday July 22nd 2019 only. My usual favorite place took a dive. 2 star for my ice cream & double point reward. The rest shot to hell. Online ordering wasn't working so decided to drive there. It hasn't been working for awhile actually. Cashier was unfriendly and had a few "sigh" indicating she was fed up & over worked. Tables were dirty inside & out. Floor was sticky from drink area to bathroom. Drink dispensers were leaking & bottom sections were black. Picked up chunky stuff off the table with napkins but asked for wet towel to clean off the sticky tabletop. Under the table had thick black smudge from metal table leg. In the bathroom front of urinal reflected shiny splatter at least 12 inches of radial arc from missed target. Now with my main dish, my usual favorite greasy taco seasoning seasoned tacos weren't available. So I ordered the new item, carne tacos. It was cold, taco shell was neither fried nor heated so it was dry but soft. Part of the carne tasted metallic & weird. I had to spit it out a few times. Today, my body is little tingly here there. Though, green beans portions gotten smaller they were still crispy & delicious. The spicy wings were good enough as usual for the next day for spicy wrap I make. read more

Torrance Food Crawl #293 Last week I visited this local Torrance branch of Veggie Grill. I don't visit vegetarian themed restaurants very much. Yes, I know the health benefits and I've heard, many, many, times, the moral arguments about going vegetarian. But given a choice I'll probably end up at another place. I wasn't expecting much when I visited here last week but I was pleasantly surprised. My first impression was of confusion. You line up around the inside of the restaurant looking at some posters of a few selected special items. No menus to be seen. After a while I figured out there were menus by the cash register but there were 5-6 people in front of me bunched up closely and I didn't feel like being rude and asking them to step aside so that I could get a menu. So I ended up stepping up the cashier/orderer not really knowing what I wanted, quickly looked at the menu, and selected the Buffalo Bomber Sandwich. The Buffalo sandwich plays a homage to 'buffalo wings' with a nod towards chicken and a spicy 'buffalo' sauce. It's not a chicken sandwich - it's a "chickin'" sandwich - made from tofu, not chicken meat. Even though it's tofu it tasted very good. I'm old enough to remember the initial attempts manufacturers made trying to use tofu to imitate various meats and just about every attempt turned out horrible. They were so bad that I probably didn't try a tofu imitation meat for the better part of 30 years. But, hey, someone has figured out how to make tofu taste pretty darn close to chicken. The spicy buffalo sauce and fresh vegetables add variety and detract from thoughts I had that I was eating tofu. As a sandwich it's very good. Drinks are a little limited. No sodas. There is water and a variety of 'healthy' drinks including Strawberry Lemonade, Cucumber Mint Limeade, Pineapple Ginger Beet Agua Fresca, Organic Unsweetened Black Tea, and Organic Ginger Hibiscus Tea. There is plenty of seating and parking is nearby and as long as there isn't some monster hit movie at the nearby AMC theatre parking shouldn't be a problem. read more

It's been a while since I've been here and despite a few negative reviews I've seen recently regarding this place, my experience was actually really good. This place is located inside a shopping center next to the AMC 20 theater, so it's a convenient place for a pre-movie dinner or lunch. Plenty of parking in the lot unlike most locations for VG that I've found that can be an absolute pain to find. There are new summer menu items and I tried the Super Rica Burger that had "corn nuts" with chorizo queso, cherry peppers, charred onions, lettuce, tomato and roasted poblanos. This was really good and I'd get this again rating it very highly along with it's more well known Santa Fe Chikin sandwich. Honestly, you won't miss the fact that it has no dairy in it. My dining companion had the VG Beyond Burger which doesn't have the fancy ingredients the Super Rica burger did, but still an excellent burger. Another burger I and my friend would get again without issue. Everything was fresh and came to our table in a timely manner. Staff was friendly and very acommodating even wiping down our table when asked. Neither one of us felt the portions were skimpy or the wrong temp. I'd come back again since I've never had a bad experience from here. New staff from the last time I was here earlier in the year, but nothing out of the ordinarly. Ordered pickup tonight from veggie grill as i wanted to try the cena vegan torta. Ordered a kids meal, torta meal, tempura green beans, and paid $2.25 extra for large size of sweet potato fries. Look at those green beans, this used to be filled to the top and now for almost $8 bucks they give you a handful of green beans - that's pathetic. And for $2.25 extra you barely give me half a bag full of sweet potato fries. The torta was okay - i didn't taste much for avocado so that's pretty pathetic. I love that I don't have to call and ask about everything on the menu to see if it meets my dietary restrictions. They are never irritated when I ask to sub sauces or for special changes. Just recently I had an unfortunate experience with an Ubereats driver and got the completely wrong order. When I called the Veggie Grill to fix it, Jesus was patient and willing to work with me. All with a stellar attitude. But then again, every time I go there it seems the staff are bright and cheerful. Probably because they love working there! I'm soooo grateful to have this gem so close to me. My favs: Crispy Cauliflower: fried cauliflower that tastes like chicken nuggets! (I used to eat them and it's true) Your choice of buffalo or orange dipping sauce. Sweet Potato Fries: they come with chipotle sauce. Yum! Cajun Fish Sandwich: amazing (fish like) filet, lettuce, tomato, pickled celery, and Cajun devil sauce. The sauce isn't too spice but if you don't like spice you can easily sub the Baja sauce from the fish taco. Carrot Cake: no explanation needed! Some of my favorite carrot cake. I've ordered the same meal from Veggie Grill in Pasadena 100x and now 3x in Torrance. I like the crispy cauliflower but used to love the quinoa power salad. Not only have the ingredients changed but this time they forgot the quinoa and extra dressing. When I called, the guy was apologetic and then had me speak to Liz, his shift leader who made me repeat myself. Annoying. She said it was the right salad and the guy was the one who packed it. SO, ARE YOU CALLING YOUR CUSTOMER A LIAR? She doesn't apologize so I recommended she give me a refund since there were no solutions being offered. She then suggested I drive back to get another. 20 min each way for a salad? Heck no:.. and it definitely is annoying once you're home and settled to pay $25 for a salad and fried veggie and your order is wrong and people these days aren't great with customer service. 1. Show empathy. Apologize. 2. Never insinuate your customer is a liar. 3. Ask "how can I make this right?" 4. Offer a refund, apologies and commit to do better. I love Veggie Grill, it's never let me down. Sometimes the fries are not the freshest but the sandwiches are always delicious. Even my mean eating bf has decided it's "ok". This last time I had the hot Nashville chicken sandwich which was so good I could have eaten another one right then. Bf had the I possible burger, a perfect transition to vegetarianism of you have a friend or family member still on the fence. (Just don't eat too many of them cuz they are pretty high in fat/calories) Also, this place has the best drinks. Who would've thought it would be possible that I could love Veggie Grill even more...well a recent dinner trip proved that there are definitely even more reasons to love Veggie Grill. I've tried pretty much everything on the menu and so when I heard there were no items such as the homestyle plates, I knew I had to check it out. I came here with a friend and we got the Crispy Chickin' Plate and the "Crab" Cake to share. I don't like seafood and Veggie Grill is the only place I would ever be excited to try "crab" cake. My friend and I originally thought it would be crab cake patties but it turned out to be a sandwich. The crab cake had some spiced tarter sauce spread on it. It's a different kind of sandwich from other Veggie Grill sandwiches. It has slight crab taste to it that is perhaps emphasized more because of the tarter sauce. Again, I don't like seafood but I thought this sandwich was OK. The Crispy Chickin' Plate instantly became my new favorite. It was a yummy plate with a nice fried chickin' patty, great cauliflower-mashed potatoes topped with porcini mushroom gravy, fresh rosemary and steamin' kale. The fried chickin' patty lives up to it's name of crispy. I believe it is the same patty that they put on my other favorite, the crispy chickin' sandwich. I loved the cauliflower-mashed potatoes topped with the porcini mushroom gravy. Who knew cauliflower could taste so good? Kids, I'm telling you eat your cauliflower! The kale had some type of nice tasting sesame dressing. I really liked the kale too. This will definitely not be my last time getting this entree. My love for Veggie Grill continues to grow as I try more and more of their new stuff. I will be back to try the other new items for sure! read more

Love, love, love Veggie Grill! This is a great (and vegan) restaurant that can satisfy many meat eaters! They recently introduced a new winter menu, with new ingredients (like Field Roast sausage) and a new take on some existing ones (like more quinoa). They've also introduced yukon gold fries, which is great for those who don't like sweet potato fries. It seems like they starting to move away from the burgers and sandwiches and moving towards plates and bowls, but they still have a great selection of burgers and sandwiches. It's nice to have lots of options. Everything here is great, whether you want to have something healthy like a salad, or something a little more indulgent, like a burger and fries. I prefer NFC. VGs are lacking in creativity and skills making alternative meat. Tasty, light and satisfying. Perfect meal after a grueling hike! This was my first visit to Veggie Grill and I'll be back. All of their food is vegetarian, as the name suggests. The food was very tasty and filling but didn't leave me feeling heavy and sluggish. I got the Taco Salad, which has plant based "meat", beans, cheese, avocado, sour cream, tortilla chips, tomatoes, cabbage and romaine. It was flavorful and refreshing for under $12. I also got a drink ($2) and a cup of smoky corn soup (~$3.50) which was soooo delicious!!! I spent a total of $19 (with tax) for lunch. I don't know if it's laziness, the manager or the customers but we don't need to continue our horrific waste of throwaway PLASTIC!! There is absolutely nothing wrong with Veggie Grill, and I'm thankful to have it...in much the same way I am happy walking into a Denny's when travelling and nothing better is in the area. I've eaten at Veggie Grills' numerous times. Its good solid vegan food you can count on, nothing bold or adventurous, food *almost* anyone (veggie or not) can eat happily. I hope one day they are as ubiquitous as Denny's. As an aside, I've never seen a dirty Veggie Grill, and my wife has never complained about their bathrooms...and her standards are pretty high. read more
