I've been to the Veggie Heaven in Denville multiple times but this is my first time coming to this location. I wonder who thought of the name, and do veggies go to heaven? Anyways I came here with family for dinner. The place is easily accessible, tons of parking on the main street. We ended up ordering the yam fries. They were pretty sweet and crunchy. I wasn't digging the sauce they gave, it was also pretty sweet and salty, maybe they should try a different sauce. It was good, but the flavors didn't really mesh well in my opinion. The house special spinach noodle was really good and the house special fried rice was pretty salty but maybe I wasn't accustomed to the amount of salt. We also ordered the roast duck with vege delight. The texture of the "duck" was similar to actual duck, and the flavors were pretty on point. The pork chop peking style was definitely really there with the flavors, the red sauce was pretty good. The thickness of the sauces got too heavy towards the end of the meal. At the beginning, the flavor gets to you but later on it gets kind of overpowering from how salty the dish is with the heaviness of the sauce. Although, all in all good food. Their service could be a hit or miss I've heard, our service was generally okay, our waiter was alright. Otherwise, pretty good food for good prices I'm down to try their lunch specials. read more

Their "Chicken" dishes are very good! I had the paradise chicken and loved it. Also tried the basil moo shu appetizer and it was delicious. Tried a little of the curried tofu, and I liked my dish better, though it was still good. Definitely try the soy almond cheesecake! I also loved the butter pecan soy ice cream. Probably the best Chinese food I've had in a long time and I'm not a vegetarian. Get the scallion pancake deluxe. The plum sauce is a mostly sweet and a little savory which gives the sandwich that extra kick. The general tso chicken is great but try the five flavor chicken. I was so impressed by this place. It was my first time there today and I was worried that a vegetarian restaurant was just going to serve salads and seaweed. But we had chicken drumsticks, pork spareribs, beef stirfry, etc-- all vegetarian versions-- and they were all amazing! I never thought being a vegetarian can be so delicious! And the staff was so nice to us. It was the birthday of our friend who is a regular there, and they love her and made her a whole green tea cake which was yummy. If this is how vegetarian food is made all the time, I could give up meat a few days in the week.This is the place to go if you want to give up meat, but not flavors and textures. Don't be fooled by the menu descriptions. It is vegetarian despite the menu mentioning shrimp, squid, beef, lamb....they are merely describing the taste not the ingredients. It seems a little silly to mention this (Veggie Heaven...of course!) but we had a hard time convincing the people we dragged along with us that there actually was NO squid in the dish they ordered! They are actually cute little artistic noodles hand-crafted to look a little like squid! (By the way, we dragged them there, but they loved it!) All the food is extremely tasty. Sauces can make or break many veggie recipes - everything here is spot on. When soy is used, it is always the right consistency and has soaked enough to absorb the flavors so it is not a tasteless lump. Atmosphere is great as is the service. We love to sit upstairs when we can. The food? Moo Shu Basil rolls are strongly flavored, but we much prefer it over the spring roll appetizers. The Miso-Tofu soup was one of the few things there I was not crazy about, not that it was bad, just a little tasteless. My wife makes better! While the sweet and sour soup is a prefect blend. Dinners - we have never left there without a doggie bag that would be good for a follow up lunch or dinner. Considering the already cheap prices, that is a real bargain. The Birds Nest or Happy House are excellent choices if you don't like spicy food, while the Double Delight Eggplant and Cripsy Vege Jumbo Shrimp are really good choices if you like your dishes a little spicy. They always warn you that the food will be spicy, but I don't think they make their dishes too hot at all. You really can't go wrong here. Sizzling Beef with Black Pepper Sauce is SOOOO good! Mango chicken was pretty good, but a little too sweet. Double Delight Eggplant was pretty good but honestly the faux shrimp freaked me out, weird texture, no flavor, not a fan but flavors were good otherwise. This place lacks a little depth of flavor... and it's not from a lack of meat. I guess the best way to illustrate this is the veggie duck appetizer. Vegetarian duck is pretty standard Chinese vegetarian dish. It's soy wrapper made roughly into the shape of a duck breast. The soy wrapper is usually a little sweet but what really makes the dish is the mushroom stuffing, adds a little umami to a dish that is subtly sweet. Here, there is no mushrooms, and it's not shaped into duck breast. and it was served with Hoisin sauce on the side. Something that could be complex ended up being one-note. Another such example was the bland hot and sour soup. It needed a healthy bit of pepper to make the soup taste like a proper hot and sour soup, it should have tasted good without the pepper, and I think it need some vinegar for more sourness. The food here is decent, and it's much healthier than other options. But this place can be so much better. And vegetarian Asian can be so good that you don't miss the meat. read more

I think about the Crispy Heaven beef on a weekly basis. I'm not vegan at all, but this dish has the honor of ranking high enough to the lists of food I think about frequently. Ok so there are not many good spots for the vegetarian crowd. If you live in NJ, then you know well the plights of the herbivores. I myself am not a vegetarian but can always appreciate good grub so long as it is creative, tasty and leaves me satisfied. Veggie Heaven is one of those spots where a regular is treated like gold. I have been going there with varying regularity since they have been open. No matter how long it has been, the manager/owner always remembers and greets me with a smile and a "good to see you again". This never fails to get me in the dining mood as I feel welcomed and therefore more comfortable. Ok enough of that noize, lets talk grub... There are three things that I cannot resist everytime I am there. 1) Roast Pork lomein Let out a Tourette like "GAWD DAYUM"! and you will have pretty much summed up how I feel about the lo mein. This is better than some actual REAL Pork Lo Mein dishes from other spots. Does not taste exactly like pork and it is so good to me that it doesn't matter.. Its like a big vegetarian middle finger to the carnivores. The Denville location is new and has a huge new menu including sushi (all vegetarian of course). This location has the original menu, which is still good, although not quite as expansive. Either we were very lucky our first time or just unlucky our second time, but this place no longer sends us to veggie heaven. We came in for lunch and got an order of general tsao's chicken and beef with broccoli. We figured, let's see how they do more conventional Chinese food. The general tsao's and beef with broccoli were made with one of the many proteins that we tasted on our first visit, but by themselves and unadorned, they just weren't that interesting. We also got a dragon roll, which had an off note that made it unpalatable to both of us. Given the huge success of our first experience (e.g., the spare ribs), we would love to come back and try more of the finger foods (e.g., chicken wings). I've frequented this restaurant For More than 10 years with general satisfaction. Today I ordered curry chicken noodle soup as I have over the past ten years. Today, the soup broth was way off. I called to inform. What I got from the restaurant staff was no accountability for the broth's bitterness. They defended the seasoning and that they never had a complaint about this before. I informed the staff that I was not complaining, I was just informing. No apologies given, just that the soup was prepared properly. It seems that the restaurant has developed a form of arrogance, therefore my family won't be returning. Even if this food were not vegan, it'd be the best Chinese food ever, for real! Veggie Heaven is my favorite restaurant - it is one of few restaurants my boyfriend and I go to when we want to have every course - appetizer, dinner and dessert! It's always special for us, because its a place full of good memories. When we celebrate special occasions, we come here. My guy isn't veg but he swears by this food - he loves it. Which is good for me! Everything here is perfect - the service is spot on (they are almost too attentive), the green tea is piping hot and reviving and everyone comes out quick and fresh. They give you some pickled veggies - cabbage and carrots - to snack on. This was new to me at first but I come to expect it now and love it! The menu is MASSIVE. There are your regular staples and then some pretty out there stuff. I once ordered diced veggies and chicken/beef with a big ring of taro. It was delicious, but different! T I have been veg for years and don't particularly care for mock meats. I don't buy them in store, etc. Coming here makes it more of a treat, especially because its all so fresh and well prepared! I cannot recommend the spare ribs enough. Amazing!! A little crunchy, the right amount of chewiness, with some delicious bbq dipping sauce. As for the entrees - you cannot go wrong with a single dish. Last time I went I got a special - chicken with almonds, really delicious. My boy normally gets it with cashews. I had the mango chicken, which was excellent!!! I will order it everytime. The staff is nice and friendly and the lady at the front desk is really helpful and nice. She helped me decide which dish I would really like. The prices are pretty standard, $15.00 for the mango chichken with brow rice. They have alot of choices on the menu. The location is nice, its in upper Montclair area, which has a few cute shops along the strip. I usually order out and eat my dish in the park up the street from the restaurant. Now for my con......... I wish they would use more real vegetables, like KALE which I love Spinach, and more green veggies. My girlfriend absolutely loves this place.. I've been here a couple times but never actually gave it my honest review.. Came here for lunch today.. Was seated quickly in one of there booths.. And was pleasantly surprised by the decorations and overall ambiance of the place... Very peaceful and calming environment to dine in. My girlfriend ordered the chicken broccoli with brown rice and spring roll lunch special and I went with the house special fried rice with vegetable soup.. Soup was very tasty.. And the house fried rice was tasty as well... Not the best I've ever had but not the worst.. My girlfriends chicken w broccoli was delicious I found myself picking at hers rather often. Veggie Heaven, you sweet little angels of Vegetarian food! Love, love, love this place. I always start off with some soup, the Wonton soup is great, serving size is small, but, that's what you want at the beginning of a meal anyway. They also serve pickled cabbage when you sit down, SO GOOD, what a great little treat. The waiters there are spectacular, so welcoming and knowledgeable. My favorite dish is the pork lo-mein, now, for the reader that is unaware: Veggie Heaven is all vegetarian, so when I say "pork" it's really just a clever combination of vegetables and flavoring that ends up tasting and resembling pork. It's delicious, really, my meat-loving boyfriend adores this dish and most of the other dishes at Veggie Heaven. It's never too expensive here, my favorite way to eat is for everyone to get soemthing different, ask for a few extra plates, and just share everything, this way you really get a sense of what they are all about, and what they are all about is: deliciousness. Went here tonight with my wife and vegan grandson. We had a great experience. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. We ordered the shark fin soup which was delicious followed by the special salad with walnuts which was fresh and tasty. My grandson scarfed down a dragon roll and human dumpling. I've been here twice, and both times I was extremeeeeeely happy. My vegan self could order anything on the menu. ANYTHING. It's all vegan. I didn't have to ask for a special order, or see if they could take such-and-such ingredient out, etc. I went with my family (parents and sister) and we were all delighted. My first go I ordered General Tso's "chicken" and OHHHHH MY GOD I think I had a foodgasm. The spring rolls and the sweet potato fries preceeding this meal of excellence were quite good as well. My next go-around I got orange chicken with some pork fried rice. ORDER THE PORK FRIED RICE. DO IT. Let me just preface this review by saying that I am a card-carrying member of the Vegetarian Elite (ok, well, I'm a pescetarian, sue me). We were seated immediately at a table with a little pickled cabbage/carrot appetizer (with only two sad little carrots on the plate) and a pot of hot tea (which to my tastebuds was delicious and right on par with any Dim Sum/Chinese place you'd patronize). We decided to order the scallion pancake appetizer, at the urging of many Yelpers - and YUM. So good. The sauce was delish as well, but a teeny bit too salty for me. My dad ordered one of the hot pots (with fake shrimp, lobster roll and squid) and seemed to love it. I, on the other hand, ordered the "chicken" and broccoli. As a kid, when I ate meat, this was my FAVORITE Chinese food dish and I'd eat it every Friday when we ordered take-out. I became a pescetarian because I just stopped craving meat. Wish I could say I was a hoighty-toighty veggie snob, but sadly, I'm not. I was incredibly anxious ordering this dish because I wasn't sure whether I wanted it to taste like meat and love it, or have it not taste like meat and love it. I love tofu, I love soy, bean curd, everything. But this "chicken" tasted like fast-food chicken nuggets. Or garbage. Or both. I struggled to choke a few pieces down to no avail. I did eat all of the broccoli though, and the sauce was good though there wasn't much of it. I just don't get the hype. I'll probably come back, but just for the scallion pancakes. OH - and seriously, if you tout yourself as a Chinese food restaurant, at least have the decency to have CHOPSTICKS at every table. read more

This food is amazing!! I am vegan gluten free and was able to order a ton of food. I went in to order food for take out and the man in the front was able to help me pick a few items off the menu. The roasted pork appetizer was amazing as well as the mango chicken, the pork chop entree. You can not tell that nothing what meat.
