Staff misplaced my keys. Eventually my keys were found in the managers pocket. When I asked the receptionist to speak to her technicians about who has my keys, she said "I don't want to speak to my technicians". That comment was extremely unprofessional. Communication seems to be lacking at the front desk. Mistakes happen but they can be handled in a more professional way in my opinion. read more

These folks are quick, honest, and fairly priced. I pulled in with a mint condition 1997 Ford Ranger that had a clamp that blew between two pipes; I was loud! The exhaust is original and rather corroded; I didn't want to pay big bucks.... I didn't. The tech pulled the truck right in to the bay, had a look, brought me out showed me the repair part and said $90 and about 30 minutes...he was actually done in about 25! Great place if you need any type of exhaust work done at prices that are unbeatable. I was disappointed however with their brake shop across the street. Needed some rear struts installed, so they inspected the vehicle and quoted a price for both struts. When I dropped the vehicle off later in the day and confirmed the estimate, they seemed confused and offered a much, much higher price ($420 before tax). Got the work done at another shop for $300. I needed to get an exhaust hanger welded back onto the tailpipe of my car, between pulling into their lot and pulling back out onto the road not even 15 minutes elapsed. They pulled my car in immediately, confirmed the broken exhaust hanger that needed to get re-welded, and showed me the new weld when they were done. Absolutely recommend them in the future for any such exhaust fix. read more

I went here to get my ignition coil and spark plugs replaced and had to come back 3 times due to my check engine light constantly coming back on, along with my car jerking. They put the fuel injector in because they thought it would fix the problem, but the check engine light came back on yet again. I found out that they put it in a spark plug that didn't even belong in my car. It was the wrong plug. read more

I had been to a national auto/tire chain to get a quote on a muffler repair. They wanted to replace everything at a high cost and they had to order the parts. A friend told me about Velasquez & Sons, so I drove by expecting to hear the same thing. INSTEAD, they showed me that only part of the muffler needed to be replaced and in 20 minutes it was fixed at a price that was so reasonable, I went to my daughter's house, picked up her car and brought it to Velasquez & Sons for a similiar repair and they fixed her car also at an extremely reasonable price. I was in town visiting when all of the sudden my muffler got REALLY loud. I got online to see who was open on a Sunday and read a few reviews. I needed to get my catalytic converter replaced on my 2000 Honda Accord. They took me right away. Lifted my car and showed me what needed attention. I was there about 20 minutes total. Not bad! After taxes it cost me just over $160. I am giving a 4 out of 5 b/c they could be a bit more honest about their pricing up front. All their advertising shows low pricing but does not factor labor although I would still recommend them. If you can try to call ahead so you know what you're getting into as far as pricing goes. read more

My exhaust system was completely rotted on my old '85 grand marquis- cats and all. They cut out the whole system for me and installed a new one with a Flowmaster from headers back for $425. That's a ~$1000 job at a different place. Great deal, great work. Highly recommend. read more

They took me back into the shop to show me what was wrong with my car, instead of just letting me take their word for it and charging me up the butt for things i didnt understand. They then gave me a quote, showing the cost/labor in their handy iPhone app. I visually saw what was wrong and visually saw the cost of everything and I feel like that made a big difference in feeling "safe" with shelling out the money. They gave me a time and I told them I'd be back in a couple of hours to call. Price wise I paid around $500 for what other places gave me $1500 quotes for. I hear that these mufflers and parts are refurbished and pressure washed to look new so aren't necessaryily the best quality, but on my 2001 nissan with 180,000 with I don't know how much life in her, these where perfect to make the rest of her life comfortable. Customer service was good, everyone was friendly and there was no beating around the bush like most places. Overall I had a good experience and would recomend. read more

I brought in my own bolt catalytic converter that I order and asked if they can install it without welding it. Without hesitation, they said they can do it easily. It was going to be a long wait, so I leave my car, and tell them to NOT weld it, and bolt on only. I get a call a few hours later, for me to pick up my car and it was installed how I asked, bolted on. I take it home and look underneath. They cut the flange off the new catalytic converter, and cut out my old catalytic converter and weld it on to the old pipes. I take it back in and tell them they did not do it how I asked. They go on to explain that, that is the only way to install a catalytic converter. I ask why do they sell bolt on if you have to cut, why did they say they could it do if they can't, and why did they tell me when I picked up the car that they bolted it on. It was silent for what felt like 5 minutes and they tell me that the receptionist said that welding was ok. They can give me a refund, but it will need to come out of her check because the information she provided them was wrong. Not sure how the receptionist got involved and it seems like a shady business to me. read more

I found out this place on internet. Before I got there, I checked couple of places in Naperville, IL to install a muffler in my 2002 Nissan Maxima SE. I was quoted prices $310.00 and $285.00 from both shops. Velazques & Sons installed the new muffler (parts & labor) for only $130.00. I was so amazed with their price. I took my jeep grand Cherokee there to have 2 FlowMaster 40 series point on they gave me one FlowMaster 40 and the other is a fake which makes the truck sound like a little toner car instead of SRT. Yes the price is great, But your not getting real flowmaster mufflers. read more

As you can tell from my other reviews, I've been having some car trouble recently. Velasquez has so far the only place I haven't been disappointed by. My car was making a rattling noise that I figured had something to do with the exhaust. The first place I took it said I needed a few new parts, and it would cost $600. The second place said I needed my entire exhaust system replaced, and it would cost $1600. The dealership where I bought the car said I needed a new muffler, and it would cost $400. Velasquez was the only place to actually explain, and physically point out, that all I really need is a new flange connecting the muffle to the exhaust. It took 20 minutes and cost $90 for them to fix the problem. My car runs totally fine now. The place is intended to be cheaper so if you're looking for brand new replacement parts you don't need, go somewhere else. If you want to pay a fair price to make your car work, go to Velasquez. read more
