One of the main attractions at Mavrix is bowling. Another is laser tag. I passed on both and checked out the arcade instead. It was time well spent because it's a pretty awesome arcade. I've been to the Bowlero in North Scottsdale and it's smaller than this one. Here, you have a bunch of fighting and driving games, interspersed with carnival-style games. I played 10 or so games total in about an hour. Wednesday is a great day to go because the games are 50% off. I didn't come away empty-handed either. With the tickets I won, I redeemed them in their prize room. It's a pretty large room too, with more prizes available than the North Scottsdale location. While I didn't have many tickets, I had enough for two pieces of candy and a T-Rex toy. Outside of what I mentioned, Mavrix has plenty of areas to sit, including a full bar. I haven't had food or drinks here, but I did take a look at the menu and it's a pretty extensive one. Definitely nicer overall than your typical bowling alley.

The vibe is super lively and modern, with a lot going on, so it's perfect for groups, date nights, or even just something different to do. The arcade had a good variety of games and the bowling area was clean and well set up. It's the kind of place where you can easily spend a few hours without getting bored. Food and drinks were decent--nothing crazy, but good enough for a night out. The menu has a mix of bar food, appetizers, and drinks, which makes it easy to snack while you play. But honestly, the service alone made me not want to come back. The bartender/waitress took our drink order and clearly made my boyfriend's drink stronger like noticeably stronger. I asked for the same thing at the same moment saying "she was going to hook him up " she didn't do it me, but still charged me the exact same price. That made zero sense and came off unprofessional, like she was more focused on him than actually doing her job fairly. It didn't stop there. My food came out soggy and borderline unappetizing, while his was completely fine. So not only are the drinks inconsistent, but apparently the kitchen is too. For how expensive everything is, you'd expect better service and quality across the board. The place looks nice and has a fun concept, but it's not worth it if the experience depends on who you are or how the staff feels that day. Definitely wouldn't recommend unless you're okay with inconsistent service and being overcharged for less.

We decided to come on a Wednesday afternoon for a Birthday with my girlfriend. Due to this being our first time behind the wheel of a high powered go-kart, we did have a lot of questions and concerns. The young man whose name was ALEX was just phenomenal. With a lot of nerves and questions Alex without hesitation and with great professionalism addressed each and every concern while putting nerves to rest. My girlfriend after speaking with him and after the pre-race briefing was ready and fit for action. It's hard to find such great character and hard working individuals these days. I highly suggest you go see Alex and I do hope he gets the much deserved credit he deserves for being a genuine, upstanding, and hard-working individual one hopes they could find at any place of business.

Getting to do 2 go cart races was perfect (1 blue track and 1 green track) and we shared plenty of laughs about the races and spin outs while enjoying the yummy food. The arcade offered so many options too, from VR & team Pac-Man to hoops and racing games. Was such a great value to get ~4 hours of fun, would highly recommend.

The go-karts were definitely the highlight, and the food was surprisingly good for an entertainment venue. The entire facility had a fun, energetic atmosphere, and it's a great spot for a date night, group outing, or just a competitive day with friends. My only real complaint was the temperature in the go-kart area. It was noticeably hotter there compared to the rest of the venue, which made the experience a little uncomfortable, especially while wearing the required gear and racing. Hopefully, that's something they can improve. Overall, though, we had a great time and would definitely come back. Just be prepared to work up a sweat on and off the track!

We were told to check back in five minutes before the heat started. On our way to check in, we saw some other people checking in who we had previously observed partaking in some 'recreational activities' in the parking lot - no judgment on that, but I do have a legitimate concern for my safety driving with others under an influence. I approached the staff member in the check in room and explained the situation and asked if we could postpone to the next heat. I was told I'd have to go back to the front desk and ask if they can make the change and that the next heat wouldn't be for another half hour. We didn't have the flexibility in our schedule to stay that long so we decided to participate in the current heat. The staff member told me I could pull over to the side to get assisted off the track if I needed to at any time. I didn't love that I would have to exit the race because of someone else's behavior. Interestingly, during the race, one person crashed into the wall in front of me and the other person crashed into my partner. Aside from all that drama, the track was pretty fun with lots of hard turns. The vehicles had great traction. The turbo button on the vehicle I was using was not marked or colored, so I was not able to use it during the race which was disappointing. I think that all of the entertainment and activity options were exciting and plentiful. If I had endless time and funds, I could definitely keep myself busy here for several hours, maybe even an entire day. I didn't love that a single go kart race was $30 per person and I didn't love that safety wasn't taken more seriously.

They give new racers the run down on how everything works, the flag system, etc. Explained the red button on the steering wheel that should only be used if necessary to back up. When my husband asked if the green button on the steering wheel was to boost your speed, the guy said if you think it does, then yes. LOL The carts go fast and it's a lot of fun. I like that after your race, you can get your results up at the counter inside to see where you ranked, your fastest lap, etc. I had one incident on my last race where I spun out and then someone hit me at full force. The flag guy ran over to make sure I was OK. My pride made me tell him yes, I was fine but it actually hurt. But I'm a big girl and can handle getting roughed up a little. LOL Thankfully it happened on my last race because my car did not handle too well after that - it shook terribly. I felt that the staff were patient, helpful and want everyone to have a good time. Our only issue was that we waited forever for our last race. They never called our names and group after group after group went on the course. Turns out they had somehow forgot about us. Arcade games, food, photo opps are inside and like I said, we had the best time!

He even came back later to check on us and make sure everything was going well. That extra thoughtfulness meant so much to our family. Jerica, our server, was fantastic! Our group of nine arrived at different times, but she stayed completely on top of checking in as each person joined us. All of our feet hurt from walking around on the really hard concrete. I guess I'd recommend you wear water shoes if you have them. We used a Get Out Pass and the whole process was seamless. It's worth getting because just a trip to Sunsplash is pretty much the same price as a Get Out Pass and you get so much out of it. I don't know if I'd go again because the cost is pretty high.

So there we were, headed to Castles N' Coasters a wholesome amusement park in the desert... a place…read morefor families, laughter, and apparently, poor decision-making. Now my buddy this man reaches into his pocket and pulls out what I can only describe as a historical artifact. I'm talking a doobie so big it looked like Bob Marley himself rolled it during a greatest hits tour. I said, "Absolutely not. I am a grown man. I got responsibilities. I got a mortgage. I got snacks at home I haven't even finished yet." That didn't matter. Next thing I know, windows are up, car turns into a Dutch oven of bad decisions, and now I'm just along for the ride literally and spiritually. Somewhere between "this is a bad idea" and "why is everything funny," I lost control of the evening. We pull into the park around that magical time you know, that in-between hour... not quite day, not quite night... like God dimmed the lights and said, "Alright boys, let's see what happens." The whole place is glowing neon lights, arcade buzz, roller coasters rattling in the distance. Felt like walking into a carnival dream... or maybe a fever dream. Jury's still out. Now here's the thing about this place it's been around since the late '70s, sitting right there in Phoenix like a desert time capsule of fun. You got four roller coasters, including the Desert Storm, which sounds fun until you're on it reconsidering every life choice that led you there. Then there's the Patriot wooden, loud, and about as gentle as a bar fight. And somehow... SOMEHOW... we thought tequila beforehand was a good idea. So now we're buzzed, slightly baked against our will, and wandering this park like three philosophers who lost their notes. We're laughing at everything. Nothing's funny but everything's hilarious. A trash can? Comedy gold. A churro? Best thing I've ever eaten in my life. A child running past me? I'm emotionally invested in his journey. But I'll give credit where it's due the park itself? Clean. Staff's friendly. Nobody's judging three grown men giggling like idiots. It's got that old-school charm too arcades, mini golf, rides, the whole deal. You can bring a family here... or whatever version of a situation we were. Now the rides... oh, the rides. Let me tell you something nothing will make you rediscover fear like being slightly out of your mind on a roller coaster you thought you could handle. I got scared... not once... not twice... but a few times. The kind of scared where you start making promises to God you don't intend to keep. "I'll be a better man if I survive this drop..." Didn't mean a word of it. By the end of the night, we had the munchies, the laughs, and just enough dignity left to get back to the car without needing a group meeting. For a couple hours, though? We were kids again. No responsibilities. No stress. Just lights, noise, and pure, ridiculous fun. So yeah Castles N' Coasters might be a family amusement park... but under the right or completely wrong circumstances, it turns into one hell of a story. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Just... maybe crack a window on the way there.
