I kept hearing about these buffalo tacos so I had to try them for myself and I must say ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Homemade buffalo sauce and huge chunks of blue cheese crumbles! A definite YES!!

My coworker and I had this door dashed to us. It was excellent!! Their to go containers are perfect for holding the tacos together. The picnic chicken taco has moist delicious chicken, wonderful crispy chicken skin pieces to add a nice crunch, a great sauce, and mild potato salad that doesn't overpower the other flavors. The slow roasted Angus brisket taco has a nice spice and the avocado is a good balance. The fried cauliflower tacos are so delicious and fairly healthy. They also give the option of having lettuce wraps rather than tortillas. Their queso is excellent with several different options. They have a white queso and another with red curry and coconut. They also keep things new by having a weekly taco feature (WTF), a different unique limited time taco every week.

Fast service in the drive thru and really tasty tacos. Had the two pictured and then the birria duo which was tasty but idk if I would do it again but only because Houston has such good birria places.

I literally did a taco crawl from Taco Stand to Velvet Taco. I was excited to see that they were right across the street from another. They are definitely different. One is more of street style tacos and Velvet is more of unique flavors of tacos. I spent ~$26 on 4 tacos. Kinda expensive but the portion makes up for it. Some flavors were a hit and a miss. I ordered the fried chicken and waffle taco, which was very good!! The gravy sauce and in a waffle taco? WOW. Great flavor! My second fave was the shrimp n grits -- who would have thought this was possible? Quite interesting.. fried grits?? I actually liked it. Grilled salmon -- just ok. Not memorable. I like the bits of corn salsa. Fish n chips tacos -- just ok. I was expecting more. I felt like something was lacking. Needs more sauce but not a fan of that yellow mustard(?) sauce. When I went there was literally no one there.. Maybe cause everyone thought it was closed due to construction. Service was meh. Could need some work on hospitality skills. I'd come back for the fried chicken and waffle tacos or try some other tacos.

A flight of delicious. The #10 Kobe Smash Burger is the best. Basically an exceptional smashburger in a tortilla.

I had been hesitant to come here because every description I ever heard sounded totally fru-fru for a taco place. The menu just looked too complex and sophisticated. Taco joints should be simple. I was wrong. My wife and daughter had some delivered and I had some. Crazy good. So far I have tried the spicy chicken tikka, chipotle barbecue pork, Kobe smash burger, and fish-n-chips tacos along with the elote and chips and curry cheese and chips. The burger taco is definitely my favorite (basically a really good smashburger in a tortilla) but all were great. Can't wait to try 5 more varieties. Bummed I fought it as long as I did. I'm a finicky eater but you can easily customize everything to eliminate any ingredient you don't want. Great place.

Some of the best tacos around! Great vegetarian tacos - plenty of options. Fast and friendly service. Easy recommendation to get your taco craving fulfilled!

Velvet Taco continues to spread its taco wings as I'm seeing more and more of these locations in the Harris county area. No complaints since most of my experiences at their spots have been positive, just like my experiences here. Taco concoctions are unique and have some great flavor combos. Favorites for me are the Kobe burger, Nashville hot tofu, Brisket taco, and the Fried paneer taco. They also do a taco of the week which is hit or miss. The last one I had (salmon salad I think) was decent but I was a bit turned off by the mayonnaise ratio. Not that I hate mayonnaise, quite the opposite. But felt more filling would've been necessary. They have a drive thru and outdoor seating plus they are open late if you're having one of those nights. While I fear they could suffer the same fate of those who've expanded too quickly (looking at you torchy's), it seems they have their quality under control.

If you're looking for an eatery with traditional tacos this isn't it BUT if you're looking for an eatery with a unique spin on traditional tacos you'll love it here! More pricey for the artistic twist, upwards of $5-$7 per taco however, the sizing is over average. Tacos are flavorful and there are many creative selections and spins on comfort foods-turned-taco. Restaurant is alfresco with a great selection of music. Not a table service place but easy to order and maneuver. Good for small group gatherings and open late. There are gluten free and vegan options.

"Velvet Taco is an absolute gem in the world of tacos! The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a funky and vibrant atmosphere that sets the tone for a fantastic dining experience. The menu is a creative fusion of flavors that keeps you coming back for more. The 8, 11.5, and Rotisserie Corn are my personal favorites, but honestly, you can't go wrong with anything here. The tortillas are always fresh, and the ingredients are top-notch. What truly stands out, though, is the exceptional service. The staff is THE REASON why my partner and I keep going back. The store manager, Joe is always very accommodating with our sometime complicated orders... Lol Mime and his team are ALWAys friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they serve. They're more than happy to help with recommendations and accommodate dietary preferences. My number one pick in the Houston Heights area.

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!

There's even a security guard on site, which only adds to the impression that this place is fire. So when I happened to drive by on a 100-degree afternoon and found no line, I took it as a sign to finally give it a try. The small parking lot adjacent to the truck was nearly empty, except for a few other patrons who probably had the same idea. Ordering was simple and to the point. The menu keeps things straightforward: a selection of meats served as tacos or plates with a handful of sides. I ordered two barbacoa tacos with salsa verde. Less than two minutes after placing my order, they were in my hands. Fast service on a scorching day is always appreciated. With no seating available, I retreated to the comfort of my car to eat. Based on the amount of grease packed into these tacos, I would recommend doing the same. Eating them while standing could end with your shirt becoming an unintended side dish. One thing to note: don't count on a generous napkin supply. I realized after returning to my car that none were included. Consider keeping a few emergency fast-food napkins in your glove compartment. Those leftover Taco Bell napkins may finally fulfill their destiny. The barbacoa was flavorful, the salsa verde complemented it well, and overall, the tacos were overall tasty. That said, I left somewhat underwhelmed considering the crowds I routinely see gathered here during lunch and dinner hours. Perhaps I'm missing the standout item that keeps customers lining up daily. Even so, if you happen to have cash in your pocket and find yourself craving authentic tacos, this truck is certainly worth a stop.

There's a parking lot, but we went on the weekend, and while the interior didn't look overly full, it was somewhat difficult to find a parking spot. The restaurant itself is clean. Everything is pretty much green and white. There's covered patio seating. You order from a window and there's a large menu printed nearby The menu offers all sorts of tacos, meats, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, quesabirras, sides, and even kids meals. You can get beer, margaritas, and non-alcoholic drinks. There's also a breakfast menu The food was good, and it didn't take too long to come out. My main issue was the service. The individual taking orders seemed to have a bit of an attitude and just seemed "over it." Furthermore, we mentioned having a queso coupon and when we were given the total I placed my card on the reader and I was told that I did it too fast and the queso wasn't taken off. The odd thing was, we walked away and realized that they didn't add the queso and the coupon was for free queso so they could have just rung up an additional queso. This individual had the vibe of eye rolling everything, and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth Some tips: You can order online to avoid any wait. Just go up to the pick-up window when it's supposed to be ready for a painless interaction There's a little bar area where you can get pre-packaged (to-go) salsas, pickled onions, limes, etc etc etc. the salsas are tomatillo, habanero, and jalapeño (I believe) You can order margaritas to go, which we did! Cheers!!
