Some staff need to be trained to work in that type of stores though. Training about the brand products but also about how to interact with customers. Store wasn't busy at all. A sales man offered his help once. I VERY politely declined, responding I am familiar with the brand and I am going to choose something to gift but just hesitating about the book box and another gift box. I was asked another time litteraly 2 minutes after that (like, do you need help NOW??). It seemed the person was quite annoyed we could not choose faster. So he decided to stand right next to us and stare at us until we were ready to pay. My daughter even asked me why the man is staring at us like we are going to steal. When I was ready, he grabbed the 2 boxes I had chosen before I had time to get to the register. Yummy ice cream. We stopped by this on our way back from dinner and although while being super full, we managed to each finish our ice cream within minutes. Our favorite was the capuchino flavor, and a close second: hazelnut. WOW! Was surprised by how much I liked this place. I normally write off places near Time Square as being tourist traps and not having good food. Boy was I wrong. This place is situated on a cute part of the street that makes me feel like I'm on Disneyland's boardwalk (if you've been to both, trust me you'll get it). The restaurant itself is nicely decorated though it is small, the line was big on this summer evening (even though it was a weekday) and the wait was long. However, I would say it was worth it when we got some of that sweet, sweet gelato. I think my favorite of all of them was the vanilla which had such an intense pure vanilla flavor. It's a must get. I also like the other flavors as well including the strawberry. Don't know how they get the flavors to be so prominent, but will be back to try more flavors! read more

Reason is because everyone including us was sampling their selections. I went with their cappuccino and Mango both vegan. Cappuccino was good and tasted like coffee. Mango was super refreshing. Especially days when it's super hot. Mango was super good but in a syrupy way not real mango way. Nevertheless, good stuff. My friend got their dairy selections and yes. She needed to use washroom 1 hour after consuming their dairy products and she's semi lactose intolerant. So, all you lactose intolerant people - be cautious when consuming their dairy products. Reason for deducting 2 stars is due to their employees just being very grouchy and unfriendly. They act miserable and move in a slow motion. Especially black gent on the heavy set and tall working 7/14 around 7pm. He looked miserable working and was moving super slow. If him and the crew work a little faster, people wouldn't have to wait such a long time. Also, why be upset and sigh when we're asking for samples? Cmon! Maybe 3.5 stars. Mixed review It was a cold night and I'm always in search for the best hot chocolate. I tried their hot chocolate. I got the one that also has hazelnut spread in it (forget the name). This was a mistake. The hot chocolate was not hot at all! It was so thick I felt like I was drinking pudding. I happened to stumble upon this gelato and chocolate shop on my way to a restaurant and I'm so glad that I did! The customer service was excellent and the employees were so helpful giving their recommendations and allowing us to sample various gelato flavors. The gelato was delicious and the serving size was generous! Service may be slow at times, but it's because of the quality of service you receive! And to me right now quality of service is just as important as the quality of your product. After we finished our gelato we decided that we also wanted to grab some of the chocolates especially after trying the chocolate squares on our gelato! The employees once again were very helpful and patient with us as we looked through the chocolates. My friend also wanted one of their chocolate gift boxes and the employees gladly helped us pick out various chocolates and rebox our selection! Some friends and I were getting ready to explore Central Park. We noticed Venchi and decided to stop by before venturing off. The shop itself is small but charming -- clean, seems to flow with chocolate treats, and the staff are really friendly and attentive. I picked out a few chocolate pieces to try, bought a small gift box, and ordered a Chocoviar coffee for myself. Chocolate pieces - I don't remember them all, but I know for sure I had a reduced sugar chocolate piece, Hazelnut Chocolate piece, and a Matcha piece. All were delectable, though I admit the reduced sugar was too bitter for me. Chocoviar - Good coffee, most of the chocolate sunk to the bottom so I was left with an overwhelming amount of good quality chocolate sludge at the end. Would have preferred to have this more evenly mixed/distributed. A friend had bought a scoop of Mango Gelato, tried a bit and thought that was super fresh and bursting with mango. I've passed by Venchi countless times but never entered until recently. It was a hot summer day and we were looking for an Ice cream store to sit in and enjoy. We settled on Venchi because of the closeness to Central park and the presentation of the chocolate. Food: 4/5 They have both ice cream and gelato. We were in the area for dinner at Marea and wanted a quick caffeine break since we had some time to kill. Enter Venchi. I had an affogato with their vanilla gelato and X had their hot chocolate. The affogato was really good - the gelato was super creamy and smooth. As we were sitting in Central Park enjoying our coffee break, I realized that the name sounded super familiar. Who does not like creamy and flavorful gelato? Venchi is such a great treat, especially on a hot and humid summer day in New York City. I am also fairly sure this replaced the Grom that used to be at this location. There are a lot of ice cream flavor options and the shop even has three types of hazelnut chocolate gelato. The Cremino is one of the most popular (tends to be near empty each time I have visited, but they replace it quickly) and has a strong hazelnut flavor to it. I would definitely recommend trying this! You can order a cup or cone, with the option of lining it with chocolate and nuts if you so desire. You can also order a to-go container of just gelato to bring home. Not only does this place sell gelato, they also have a wall full of chocolate. The options range from simple and plain pieces and bars all the way to your fancier gift sets. The Dark Chocolate Hazelnut bar is one of my favorites (note the recurring theme of chocolate and hazelnut). While the sweets here are more premium and pricy, Venchi can be a great treat yourself option! read more

I've been meaning to come here for a while since I've had their gelato in Italy. I came here late at night (around 10pm) on a Friday night with a friend. There's always a line all summer but it moves fast. I ordered a baby size (1 scoop, 1 flavor) in a cup. Their cones and cups can also have an additional layer of chocolate and hazelnuts which you can order as well. It's too bad I was still very full from dinner (yes, such problems I have haha) or else I would get a cone with the extra layer. Even for a baby size, I feel like it's a good portion. I ordered the mango flavor (plus it's vegan) since I wanted something refreshing and light. It had a very strong mango flavor and the mango tasted natural. Next time, I'll definitely get their green pistachio flavor since that seems to be the most popular flavor. I think this is the best gelato in NYC, the quality and flavor of the gelato is better than Amorino. I'll definitely be back! read more

Every-time I go to this location I get yelled at. I am a NYC resident and I live a few blocks away so I frequent here often. This past visit made me never want to return. The woman employee (in the picture below) at this location not only yelled at my friend for not knowing the difference between 4 different gelatos and shouted "WHATS THE NAME" she gave me the worst attitude along with Stracciatella with no chocolate pieces in it (if I wanted vanilla I would have ordered it). Please stop hiring people who hate working in customer service. Trust me I get it - it's not easy but as a paying costumer I will not be disrespected by an employee every single time I come in.
