The owner, Antonio was so accommodating and the food was absolutely amazing ...true, authentic Italian!! We hesitated because it wasn't very busy but still, the reviews were good so we decided to give it a try and we are so thankful that we did! We sat outside in a very peaceful garden like setting and the service was superb. We got a great bottle of red wine ((Cabernet Sauvignon)) for only $24 and it was excellent. This place is nothing fancy or plush, but the food and service were above and beyond, and it was truly authentic which was all that mattered to us. Venice beach and side streets were busy and we'd wandered for a while looking for supper. The lights from the patio caught our eye and the area looked less busy. Walked over and discovered this was order at the counter and BYOB with a $10 corkage fee. We'd walked in sight unseen so hadn't read up on the place. Also, since COVID it's also purchase bottled water only. We ordered Caprese Della Cucina from the Antipasta and Linguine Alla Puttanesca with added Italian Sausage. After paying for our order we were directed to a place close by to purchase our BYOB. When we returned our Antipasta arrived shortly with complimentary bread and dipping oil. Before we were finished enjoying the fresh, tasty Antipasta our meal arrived. Each item had a delightful blend of flavors and textures. We also enjoyed intermittent conversation with Antonio (owner/server) who had given recommendations regarding our order. Of course we finished with Tiramisu which did not disappoint. PLEASE go support this business! Venice Cucina has been in the community for so many years- it truly is an Italian treasure. It was my first time on NYE to eat here with my vegetarian family. All of the portion sizes are what you actually pay for and it was so delicious. We got the Greek salad.. *chef's kiss*. Everything you want from a salad- great toppings, fresh lettuce, great dressing, and it served 4 of us multiple servings. We also got the gorgonzola pizza and the pizza bianca. Cheese forward but do you expect anything less from pizza? Both were so flavorful and filling- we ordered a side of marinara sauce, and holy moly I would drink that. The owner is a most friendly gentleman who did the cooking and serving when we visited just before 6:00 on Saturday evening. We sat in the quaint outdoor courtyard, separated by a vine-covered trellis from the sidewalk. We shared a small Caesar salad (the owner said he gave us a "generous" portion -- and it was!). My wife had the Spaghetti Aglio E Olio with Italian sausage and I had the Spaghetti Della Nonna with a sliced-up hand-rolled meat ball. Both were delicious and filling! On the downside, my bottle of Peroni and my wife's strawberry wine were less than properly chilled. But we'll be back... and perhaps have tiramisu or gelato for dessert next time! read more

This was our first time here last night. We were at the Venice holiday sign lighting and decided to drop in for a bite to eat..was already close to 9pm. Went to the counter to order. We were a little confused about the order as my boyfriend does not eat pork and asked for spaghetti with meatballs at first, but the owner ( I am assuming was the owner) told us to get the Spaghetti Bolognese. I was about to order the spaghetti marinara but he said "no..that will be enough for two"..so ok..we only ordered the bolognese along with the greek salad..again..he told us enough for two. He asked " would you like to add garlic bread"...sure I said. So I don't recall the exact amount but with tip I paid $68. We ordered a bottled drink and a can soda as well. We went outside to wait. Took a while to get the salad. The Greek salad was good..a mix of lettuce and different veggies..capers, olives, feta..actually enough for 2+. We enjoyed it. We then waited longer for the spaghetti. When he came out with one small plate..we thought..oh..perhaps he divided it into two since he said it was enough for two. My guy is 6'5" and around 280..so he likes to eat! This was seriously a child's portion of spaghetti. We should have questioned it..but I took a few twirls of pasta with some sauce and let my boyfriend eat the other few bites. No garlic bread...so once we got his attention..and was just about done with the few bites of spaghetti..not joking here..this was enough for a kid..he says "oh that will be $8.95" I said No...you asked me if I wanted it and said yes..so we paid already...he walks away...another 5 minutes or so comes back with a plate of slice homemade bread and a garlic oil dipping sauce. Not what we expected as far as garlic bread..but it was tasty..just too bad we got it to just sop up the last few bites of bolognese on our plate. The spaghetti and sauce we actually tasty..but the 20 strands I had was not enough. We were not expecting HUGE..but why the heck he thought that tiny plate was enough for 2 adults. Sheesh..he could have gotten another $20+ dollars for a 2nd tiny portion of spaghetti. I am guessing we got charged about $24 for this child portion of spaghetti..since it was not a menu item no way to know for sure..but based on the $16 salad, $8 garlic bread and drinks..it would have been $20-24 for that plate. There are plenty of other restaurants around that give you enough spaghetti at that price for 2 people or enough to need to take some home! I get that restaurants have it hard these days with food costs and wages, etc..but it would be been another buck worth of spaghetti and another ladle or two of sauce to make it really for two people rather than one child. Also..forgetting he already charged us for garlic bread and forget to bring it out and wanted to charge us again?? Maybe you need a better order system so you don't forget? The food was tasty enough so would have tried again, but this portion issue for the price. And thinking that was enough for two people..we were prepared to order two plates..but you convinced us it was enough. I could have gone to C&O for similar price..but unlimited hot garlic knots and double the amount of spaghetti and salad was comparable. read more

This is the most charming old school spot with the most DELICIOUS food and the most wonderful service. Despite the reasonable prices they treat you like you are the most important customers they ever had. Cannot say enough positive things about this restuarant. It's nice to know that you can find at least one decent restaurant in Venice. I'm sure there are several as I am no expert in the area, but this Italian spot has the benefit of being among the first you see as you escape the boardwalk shenanigans and onto Windward Circle. The population density of pedestrians suddenly became a lot more manageable, and a human-size appetite came back to Jamie W. and me since we weren't feeling adventurous enough to try any of the $2 fish tacos or cholesterol on sticks being sold in the stalls next to the beach. It shows up like a little country cottage with a pleasant gated patio area that was quite inviting to anyone looking for some quiet time before heading back to LA proper. It was clearly the owner who was seating and serving us as he was an older gentleman, presumably Italian by birth, who was quietly seeing to our needs at reasonable intervals, something he managed to so with dexterity as more customers gradually came into the patio. The menu was not overly creative but at least had the right choices for the undemanding diner - salads, grilled paninis, thin-crust pizza, and pastas. That would do for us, as we decided to share the $12.95 Caesar Salad upon the owner's recommendation. We definitely had our fill for a late lunch, and the weather was spectacularly warm, so much so that we hated to leave the shade of the umbrellas in the patio. I'm frankly not sure if this place would stand out to me in another neighborhood, but this bit of Italy was a welcome sight after all the junk food kiosks on the Boardwalk. Highly recommend Venice Cucina to anyone looking for a warm relaxing dining experience. They have an outdoor patio that made us feel very safe during this pandemic. The food was incredible, they started us off with warm toasted bread with a tasty garlic olive oil for dipping. We then got the caesar salad, gorgonzola pizza, and the california pizza. Each dish was extremely authentic, made and presented with love. Alex took care of us and ended up being the best server I've ever had. She was so personable and kind. Pizza wasn't bad but service was. What I'm assuming was the owner seemed annoyed when I asked to use the restroom after we bought over 100 dollars worth of food and drinks. After we payed he offered to open our sodas, then charged us 3 dollars for it!!!
