It was our first time going to this restaurant and we will absolutely be back. The food was amazing. We ordered the shrimp linguini and devoured it. The Greek salad was huge and the dressing was perfection. Outdoor patio was full of beautiful plants and super peaceful. Just had my first meal out since COVID here and it was fantastic. We stopped in because of the big outdoor patio (still not trying to sit inside a restaurant, ya'll are nuts) which stayed empty for our whole meal (good for us, but sad for restaurant!). The waitress Alex was super lovely and assured us about all the sanitizing methods they were using, and she kept a good distance and mask on the whole time. They are definitely taking things seriously. I honestly was not expecting anything super special from the food, but it was actually outstanding. The salad was fresh and the penne vodka was flavorful and not greasy (which is always a problem I find in many Italian spots) the bread was soo soo good. My besties and I finally had a Saturday off, it was a beautiful day, and what better plan than to go explore Venice? We parked a couple of blocks from the famous VENICE sign and headed to grab some lunch. We saw this place across the street and started to head over (hello ice cream too nommmm). We heard some guy screaming and threatening to call the cops and kind of ignored it thinking it was a crazy homeless person. Yeah, no. It was the owner literally inches from some poor guy's face who had been trying to park in front of the restaurant. I know it was the owner because he wouldn't stop red faced screaming at the guy trying to park (in a perfectly legal spot out front) saying "I own this place! This is my restaurant! I pay my taxes here, you cannot park here! I will call the police!" So...yeah. Seemed like a better plan to avoid that craziness and find another lunch spot. A hidden gem!!! This unassuming restaurant serves up some of the most devine Italian food, with great service via a sweet gentleman with good humor! I'm not one to write a review but this place truly deserves it. With a large patio, it's the perfect place to settle in with lots of wine and great comfort food. The creamy Burrata, fresh tomato and eggplant appetizer was outstanding. The 4-cheese pizza, fresh flavorful tenderized chicken parmigiana entree and most delicious linguine and clams dish were all seasoned to perfection. The atmosphere at Cucina was inviting and peaceful. There is comfortable seating inside as well as outside in the shaded patio. The owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating upon our arrival; and service was prompt and done with care. And... we are looking forward to another great Italian meal there again. Being Italian, I know real Italian food when I taste it. This is pretty close to the food made by my family in New Jersey, Philadelphia and New York. And they can really cook. Here is a list of reasons why it was one of the worst food experiences I have ever had: 1. Asked for a cup of water and had to argue to get tap water because they pretended they didn't have it and tried to charge us each 2$. They were rude about it. 2. Completely lied about bread being free and brought it to us without asking.....which on every yelp review they apparently do to everyone. 3. AND THEN kept trying to bring us more to charge us... we had to firmly say not multiple times. 4. We tried to split our check per item and they said "NO THIS ISNT A JACK IN THE BOX YOU HAVE TO ONLY SPLIT EVENLY". And gave so much attitude about wanting to pay for what we actually ordered??? THEN we realized it was because he snuck a 20$ service fee into our bill secretly.... 5. The waitress seemed nice initially... but just kept forcing sales on us so awkwardly. It uncomfortable. I just love this place. It not far from the beach and the people were really nice and welcoming. It has a nice outdoor space to relax and a good music vibe to chill while you eat.
