I hadn't lost any weight, and I later learned that the size ordered was actually the smallest size on the recommended scale for my measurements. It was clear that Gia, the bridal consultant, measured me incorrectly from the beginning. This was incredibly disappointing--especially so close to my big day. I immediately left and took my dress to Wedding Gown Alterations by John, where they had to take in 4 inches at the waist just to make the dress wearable. The total cost of alterations came to $1,200, on top of what had already paid for the gown. This is not the experience or service I expected from a high-end boutique. Update month after wedding: Spent $4000 on a dress that was made lopsided (the only useful help i was given from this shop was their alterations recommendation John) and my veil was ripped by the associate the day i picked it all up, I asked to have the veil remade and after correcting them THREE TIMES on my wedding date (9/1/24) they called while I was on my honeymoon (9/6/24) telling me my new veil was ready for pickup (the tailor sewed it up and my WEDDING VEIL had a seam in the back middle). Overall, when I originally set out to get my dress from Winnie these were my fears; particularly having the dress made incorrectly based on previous reviews, but ultimately I loved my dress and my wedding and would just rather impart some imploring words on upper management (no not the kind general manager of the store or the kind executive who had my veil remade) but rather the ownership (whom the sales associates took pride in telling me oversee every part of the process). Put your money where your mouth is, John is not always a miracle worker, my dress worked out by sheer luck but the next girl won't be so lucky. Train your associates better with the dresses, train them to take down peoples information correctly, and try harder to avoid turnover that may cause for information having to change hands as many times as in my case (3 times in 6 months). I say this publicly because $4000 is a LOT of money to be having these types of logistical and mechanical problems, even for a wedding dress which I do understand is a difficult market. I wish my beautiful result had not had to come at the cost of what little sanity I had in the wedding planning process to begin with. Ultimately, I had had a jacket made with the dress that we attached for modesty, eliminating the tilt from the strapless neckline, and shortened the tulle on the uneven side to make walking easier and the skirt even on the ground. read more

Had an absolutely horrifying experience. I purchased my dress, had several fittings, I was made to believe the dress that I would be receiving would only need minor alterations. Once I received my $5000 dress after 10 months, I was then referred to a tailor and charged an additional $1000 to reconstruct the dress. The best they could do was give me $500 towards it. My wedding is July 23rd. Today is May 10 and the alterations are so extensive that it will not be ready until the first week of July. At the end of it all my feelings are hurt. They have been less than accommodating to me, a 'plus sized' bride. They have absolutely tainted my entire wedding experience. read more

Worst possible experience buying a wedding dress. I ordered my dress with the recommendation that I go up a size and pay extra for the hem to hollow fitting. Having never purchased a wedding dress before, I assumed a place that sells $4,000 couture dresses would know what they were talking about but that wasn't the case at all. The dress came back a total train wreck and a completely different neckline. It was so heinous, they offered to make corrections to the dress at their third party tailor who somehow made things WORSE. However, corporate flat out refused to talk to us so it was just a back and forth with the poor girl who wasn't even the one who sold me the dress. Even after weeks of our professional seamstress working on the dress, I look at the pictures of my wedding and am so disappointed that this was the dress I said yes to. Have you ever seen a good movie, but always get choked up at that sad part? Like you know it's coming, but you still enjoyed the movie anyways? For me that's when Mufasa dies in the Lion King. Well that's me and Winnie. I had a Mufasa moment here, but I liked it enough, Lion King style. I ultimately didn't get a dress here, but I am willing to say there was miscommunication and I can't tell if it was on my part or my dress consultant. Because I'm still confused to this day how that occurred I'm willing to take a hit and say it was my fault. Alright, to start off, despite Winnie saying you can have a low budget I would advise brides to have a starting budget of 3200 if you realistically want to shop here. While there may be dresses in the 1700 range they are far and few in between. They pride themselves on the couture aspect. (My stylist was amazing and I would have loved to have bought a dress from her. She was the one that advised to do a tour before buying a dress and even checking out other stores to maximize on their 15% off policy if you buy a dress that day. I appreicated the tip.) The ladies with me were treated well and the inside of the store, though small, was beautiful. They even gave us champagne- very fancy. I went through an array of dresses until we found something I liked. Once I found a cute dress, I was overwhelmed. Like whoa, this could be the dress, but then the dress was over 3000 and my budget was definitely at 1700-1800 if I stretch it. Possibly even 1400 if I have to consider alterations. The experience was amazing, the stylist was great, but that damn dress was way over my budget. I talked to my friends and we left, because even with a 15-20% discount it made no sense to buy it. I can't figure out how that happened. It's almost a bit of a joke, the 3000 dollar dress. If you have the cash, definitely do it, but if you have a low strict budget, I don't recommend this place. Some friends argued this was a bait and switch tactic, I don't think it was that, but something definitely happened where me and the stylist weren't on the same page when it came to the budget. Seeing that most dresses were 3000 and above, I feel that's what your aim should be if you want a Winnie gown. I know had that dress been in my price range I would have gotten it. Aside from the budget miscommunication, the only other drawback to the store was that the dressing room got hot quickly. Disgustingly hot. My stylist was cool as we tried on dresses and helped me, but I don't know how she or any of the employees can stand it all day long wearing black. I'd be a sweaty mess. If you have the money come here as the styles are varied and unique. You'll be treated well and will enjoy that bridal experience, especially to you Bridezillas out there. You know who you are. To everyone else, know your budget, be firm, and if necessary check how much each dress costs before trying it on to avoid any disappointment. I'm not bridal depressed, wedding isn't ruined, but unfortunately I can't say, "Yes, to the Dress!" here. If you can, you'll love it. Don't bother coming here. It's a bunch of amateurs that don't know how to take measurements. I was asked to come in a second time to take measurements, waited three months for a custom dress and it shows up with the shortest torso ever. My sides went all the way up under my underarms cutting my arms off. They eventually spoke to alterations (which initially quoted me $1200 to fix the fiasco) and sent a SAMPLE dress in. I'm a size two...how do you think a size 10 fits. The top of my dress is so big and wide that it looks awful on my small frame. My wedding is in a week and there is nothing to do about. Thanks guys for ruining my wedding and wasting my time waiting for a so called custom dress to arrive looking like it fits on a 2 year old. When she went for her first fitting, she found they had ordered the wrong size and had put in a lining that was the wrong color. They REFUSED to fix it! All they said is they could take out the lining, not replace it with the correct one or get the correct size. I booked an appointment with them for Black Friday weekend. My budget is limited so is my time frame (need to have my dress within one month.) I was really worried if I can really find a dress there. Before the appointment, the stylist had been communicating with me through email regarding my budget and the style I want. It is really helpful because at least I can have some idea in mind. My stylist is Gabby. She is very professional and patient. She gave me lots of time and space to think and feel the dress. Also other stylists are also really nice and helpful. They'll try whatever they can to help you zip the dress LoL...Because of the limited time, I was only able to get the sample dress. (It takes 6-8 months to get a wedding dress usually.) The sample dress were absolutely pretty and with really great discount. So I got my dress with me immediately. Overall, it is a really nice experience for dress shopping. Samantha was AMAZING! She pulled three dresses to give me a vision for my custom couture gown! I shopped during the Easter sale last year for my September wedding. I was very particular as I wanted gold detail with a dramatic bottom. Samantha figured out how to do that, while not blowing my $2,000 budget! Absolutely my dream gown. Now...I'm not giving 5 stars because of the tailor they suggest for their dresses. I didn't even realize he wasn't in house until I showed up for my first fitting. We walked a couple doors down to Alterations by John. Everything went fine. I'm very busty and I'm super self conscious about that. John and Samantha both assured me it'd be perfect and I shouldn't need to add sleeves. I was told to wait until he finished and evaluate it then. I decided to go with him because my Winnie stylist recommended him. WORST DECISION EVER!! John district finish my dress when he said he would and my boobs were basically popping out of my dress!! I broke down crying. He offered to add material to the top, but charged me $80 for the material. Basically, he ruined my wedding. The stupid material didn't help and I spent my wedding day yanking with the top of the dress. If you get a dress from here....get it tailored elsewhere! Otherwise, my experience with Winnie was great! The regional manager advocated for me to get my money back from John, which was awesome. But, I hate most of my wedding pics. Went here this Saturday with my mom and one of my maid's of honor (have two) to try on dresses for the 1st time. Laura helped us and she was awesome. Very patient with me since I had no clue want style of dress I wanted. I just knew that I wanted to try certain things on haha. She was attentive and also looked for dresses within my price range. I did not feel pushed or rushed to try on dresses at all. Now on to the dresses - there were dresses that started from around $1500s to about $5500s and higher. Prices just depended on what you wanted... there could have been cheaper ones, I just can't remember. Winnie's selection was beautiful, I really love strapless sweetheart neckline mermaid dresses and this place had them. They had beautiful A-Line dresses, destination dresses and so much more. Also - if there was something on the dress you wanted to change or add they were really helpful in trying to see what they can do for you. I did find one super awesome dress, but of course since this was my 1st stop, so I didn't order just yet. But I recommend this place and Laura if you are in search for a dress. Went to Priscilla of Boston later that same day and let me tell you...my Winnie's experience was waaaaay better. Happy hunting ladies! read more

I got my wedding dress here and in the end I was happy, but it was a process getting to that point.... BE VERY CAREFUL WITH COMBINING DRESSES AND CUSTOM SIZING. I choose two dresses, half for the bottom half for the top. The assistant told me they do it all the time no problem and also suggested custom sizing. My dress came in 6 months later and it was a disaster. Instead of switching the top of the dress they just switched the belt which left an exposed seam and ruined the rushing of the dress which left it very unflattering. Besides the dress being wrong it didn't fit right, so the custom sizing was a waste it still needed to be altered, I don't believe custom sizing is good idea unless your size is extremely far off from the normal sizes. Mine came in shorter than the dresses I tried on, too loose at the top and too tight at the waist. I left without a dress and the manager called me later saying they had re-ordered it. I insisted they cancel the order because I wanted to specifically go over what dress I was going to get and remove the custom sizing. The second try at ordering the dress I was very specific at exactly where the transition between the two dresses would take place (below the knee) and how the lines between the two dresses matched up. The first assistant told me don't worry they do it all the time, WORRY be very very specific in what you want. I also ordered a dress that fit my size the closest but the hips were 2" too small, she warned me I might not be able to try it on when it came in, but the larger size was 4" too big on the top. Finally after 2 more months (it would have been longer but I gave them an absolute deadline or I was buying a different dress, as my wedding date was less than 3 months away) my dress came in. It was what I wanted, perfect! I got it altered by John in the same shopping center and he was amazing, I priced him with another place and he was cheaper with more bustle points. Long story short after many tears, stress and sleepless nights I had my dress. However due to the delay I was unable to take bridal shots before the wedding. Lauren was super helpful, accommodating, and made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. I love Winnie Couture! I found this bridal salon while eating at Buca about three years ago and looked in the windows. I then took my friend to try on dresses here about a year ago. Its a great place to start looking. They have all types you could ever dream of. I think their prices are pretty reasonable and they also have a wide range of prices. The ladies here are really nice and I feel like they wanted me to look good in the dress I picked even if it wasn't from their store. My consultant was amazing at straping me into the dresses. I am pretty small and the dresses are the standard sample size of 8. So if you aren't pulled into the dress right you won't look good. They also don't fool around with those plastic clips that just slip off. They use industrial grade clips, they are not coming off I promise. They also have pretty good sales! I went to try dresses on this weekend and I found out that if I bought my dress the day I tried it on I got a 20% discount and a free veil. So I took them up on that offer! I love my dress! This was only the second store I had been too, but I feel in love! They also can customize any dress in the store. I added some beading to mine. I can't wait to it! It does take a while for the dresses to be made (6 months) so make sure you start shopping early! You can also have the dress totally custom made. They take 16 measurements and it is made to those specifications. You can also order the size closest to you and then have it altered later. The decor in the place is also so girly and made the experience even more fun. They also work hard to only have 2 appointments at a time so there aren't tons of people running around while you are trying on dresses. It feels very personal and made the experience so much more enjoyable since I wasn't fitting a bunch of other brides for dresses. I will recommend this salon to all brides I know! read more

Winnie Couture was the 2nd bridal salon I visited on my search for "the dress". I've heard good things about the store and its across from where I work so I figured I'd try it out. They give you champagne when you visit which was nice and the store is plush and the dressing rooms are nice. The sales girl showed me the different dress sections which are separated by style but not price. Despite giving her the low down on what I was looking for and my budget, she didn't offer any suggestions she just told me to pick out a few. As there were dresses of all price ranges mixed in together I forgot to check the price tag out first and ended up trying on a $7k dress, oops, definitely a waste of my time. The sales girl I had seemed new and inexperienced. She also did not give me any privacy and just hopped in the dressing room with me naked. I personally don't mind but wanted to mention as I felt other salons were more polite about giving me time to switch and then helping me once I was halfway dressed. As for the dresses, they had beautiful dresses but of the 3 I tried on, they were all terribly uncomfortable. I tried on well over 20 dresses (i know - way too many) in my search and the 3 Winnie Couture dresses I can say were the only dresses that I would not wear during my wedding even if they were free because of how uncomfortable they were! There are plenty of brides that have gorgeous dresses from Winnie Couture, but I'd try out other bridal salons in Houston before this one. read more

Compassion-less. A couple of Sundays ago, I thought I had "found the dress". Both my mom and my MOH were present and we celebrated what I thought was the best decision I had made since saying "yes" to my proposal. As many boutiques require, I signed my life away when I initialed multiple forms stating that my 50% ($1000+) deposit is non-refundable. Later that night, I experience buyers remorse which is quite common when shopping for the most important gown of your life. I IMMEDIATELY (WITHIN 24 HOURS) tried to contact the company. In a panic, I left a message with Winnie Couture and even private messaged the stylist on facebook, explaining my regretful decision. I was later contacted by the stylist that assisted me (let me also include that she was amazing and has been on my side throughout). I was informed that there was nothing she could do. At this point... the store had only ran my card. The dress HAS NOT been officially ordered, no one even knows to make the dress. I went by the store multiple times and tried contacting the manager. She finally contacted me the next week to tell me that NOTHING can be done. I understand that I signed the contract. However, the dress has not even been ordered. I contacted the boutique within 24 hours of signing the contract. I tried multiple times to compromise. Please allow me to at least put my $1000+ deposit towards shoes, accessories, anything. The only "possible" compromise they would entertain would be to allow me to come back to the store and pick out a dress at a GREATER VALUE that the dress I already put the deposit down on! My heart was already set on another dress at a different store. She stated that the accessory money goes to a different part of the corporation and the dress deposit could not go towards anything else. Please... have some compassion. How can you just take someone's money when they notified you within 24 hours? The dress has not even been officially ordered. I even offered to pay the commission the stylist would have made on my dress if I could please get my deposit back. I understand I signed the contract, but please, work with me. Winnie Couture, the land of fluffy white wedding gown goodness. My initial visit was back in January. I had come from searching for a gown at Priscilla of Boston and was a little fatigued. Because they were running late, my mom and I decided to throw caution to the wind and satisfy our hunger with some gelato at Paciugo. Dangerous to do before trying on dresses, I know. Upon our return, Marissa greeted us and explained the different styles and price points. I picked out what seemed like a dozen or so dresses (perhaps one of those was a giant poofy number that I wanted to try on just for a laugh) and was led back to the dressing area. Now, I am the girliest of girly girls. I loved the chandeliers, the way all the gowns seemed to be begging to be tried on, even the sappy love music playing in the background. When I came out in my first dress, I knew I was in love. Marissa was helpful in explaining style and how I could change it if I wanted to. *Note* They use car battery clamps to keep the dress on. So helpful! The samples were huge on me so this really helped to visualize how the gown would actually fit. Because I'm a rather tiny thing (and with the measurements of a 12 year old boy), I had my dress custom made instead of being altered. This was the more expensive option but in the long run, it's worth it. I changed the fabric from ivory silk to white satin and added buttons down the back. In totally, my wedding dress cost close to $3,000 but is amazing and classic. I would recommend Winnie Couture to any bride who is searching for her dream wedding gown. I popped in here on my way back from a trip and on route to the grocery store. I had an idea that I would need an appointment, but the door was open and there wasn't anyone waiting at the front counter for assistance so I took a chance and proceded to look around. I was really only shopping for a veil and hoping to get a look at some of the readily available styles. This is a very nice boutique style Bridal Shop! I didn't try on the dresses, but I did have a l look at them hanging there, oh so shiny and sweet! They did seem a little heavy to get on and off and that was one of the things I was not looking for in a dress, but for style and a formal occasion they would work for others. They had a great selection of dyeable shoes on a round tabletop and the whole place was just eye candy. I had no trouble with customer service, but left pretty quickly after seeing that the cost of the veils were going to run quite high. They had a sweet selection of blushers, cathedrals and classical fingertip sizes with some crystal detailing, but I'm going to opt for another Etsy handmade and just as sweet choice. read more

The dresses in here are absolutely stunning. There was not a thing in here that did not fit me well. I am a plus size gal so it is not every day that you find a place that every thing looks good on. It is high end but I think that it is definitely worth the money. The thing that I did not like was the service. I was in a few months back. It was actually going pretty well until I fell in love with this dress. It turned out that it was a few hundred dollars over my price point, which the consultant was aware of. It was not a huge deal but it was something that I would have to discuss with the fiance before purchasing. All of the sudden I was getting the hard sale like I was purchasing a used car or something. It made me feel very uncomfortable. My mom had to intervene (she is a little more firm than I am). I purchased my dress here in Dec 2015 for my destination wedding. And although I love my dress, I would suggest making Winnie your last stop because if you go here first and buy a dress, you may experience buyer's remorse... They have an ironclad contract, so once you put your deposit down, that's it... I love my dress, it was custom made with the top from one dress and the bottom from another. Since I lost a few pounds after my initial measurements, it cost me about $350 to have it altered once it came in. It takes about 6 months to receive a dress from here, so plan ahead. I went in 7 months before my wedding date and had to pay extra money for rush shipping. All and all, I loved my dress, I just wish they had a 24 hour change your mind policy since I found a similar dress for about $2000 cheaper right after I left the store! read more

Great dresses to choose from and prices are between $1,500 and $6,500. There was a 20-80% sale going on when I went to check out dresses as well. The consultant was a bit corky for my sense but she was probably just trying to be friendly. And I think she was new. I did like one dress but I don't think it is "THE ONE." The lady said it was a best seller too. It's probably better that I didn't buy it. The last thing I want is a dress that everyone else has. lol. This is such a cute little store! I saw their booth at one of the bridal shows and decided to go try on dresses just for fun because I was pretty sure I couldn't afford any of them. But I found one that fit my style - no crystals or crazy necklines - and it was still fairly close to my price range :) The girl helping me was very nice and patient - I didn't feel any pressure from her to pick quickly or anything. We had Samantha as our stylist and she was great. My twin sister bought her dress here 4 years ago and they did a great job so I knew I wanted to try their dresses. I had previously found a favorite dress elsewhere but after this appointment, I said yes to the dress at Winnie! They have the option to custom order your size to your measurements which was perfect for me because I'm curvier with a smaller waist.
