Alright. Don't generally write negative reviews but this experience earned it. Went in kinda late (9:30pm) on a Saturday night and I think the staff of three were more interested everything in their lives that didn't involve making hamburgers or french fries. The veggie burger was served with a half frozen patty, and the fries, (I'm not sure how!) were soft, oily, and obviously made by someone who does not give a s*** about they should taste like or look like. Good thing I wasn't very hungry when i went in for a snack just before lunch. The place was empty, should have taken the hint. I ordered the half fries and half onion rings for $7.35. I got 4 small rings no bigger than 2". The fries were crunchy and were about 1 inch long, like the leftovers from a bag. I wouldn't have complained but they weren't even tasty. I have gone back a few more times since my last review and the burgers are extremely juicy and flavorful. My favourites are the g-money and the canuck. I usually get onion rings as they are large and taste really good which just enough batter on the rings. I like this place a lot. I am a fan of their four-cheese burger and even their lamb burger is pretty good. My wife really enjoys their veggie burgers and that says a lot since many veggie burgers at other places are terrible. Their sides are fine but I definitely prefer their onion rings more than their fries. They have always been cooked perfectly and don't have an oily taste whatsoever. There is a reason why this place seems to win lots of local burger awards and if you haven't eaten there, you will see why they win once you do. read more

I don't tend to come here too often, but when I crave a big, greasy burger, Vera's is one of my choices. On this visit I ordered the Thursday Special called "The Big Chick", which was grilled chicken, provolone, bacon, onions and bbq sauce on a bun with a side of fries(or onion rings) and a fountain drink. Since I like all toppings, I get "The Works" on my burger, but you can choose from a list of toppings. I was surprised to see 3 very decent sized pieces of chicken as the base that were nice and juicy! The service was good considering it's more of a takeout place than a sit down place. I've found every time I've come back to Vera's it's just gotten worse and worse. Thus, methinks this will be the last time ever going there. Got a bunch of stuff but mainly it was about the burgers. Yes greasy, sloppy etc. and that hit the spot but with a side of tasteless wilted yam fries, bland Vera sauce and the banana milkshake that never seems to be available, put a fork in me, I'm underdone. For the amount of meat and money paid, just not good value for the buck. THe buns were burned, the burgers were undercooked but service was fast. So depending on what you value, if you crave meat, go for faster fast food or go to a real sit down burger restaurant. Depressing really since this was the first burger I'd had in months so was really in the mood for something meaty. read more

I'm probably not the best person to review a burger joint since I don't eat meat. Vera's does offer a veggie burger and that's what I ordered. The veggie burger is less than $6, but if you like to add on cheese, mushrooms and other goodies, you'll quickly have a burger that's over $10! Oops. For that price, I definitely don't think it's worth it. The fries and the yam fries are alright, but I've had better. The Main Street location gets really crowded at dinner time, so you might have to hover for a table. read more

Delicious! My husband and I were in the mood for classic veggie burgers and this definitely hit the spot! The kids had the Mini V and chicken fingers. We all loved the french fries. The location was relaxed and comfortable. We enjoyed the large open window to outside - a nice alternative to outdoor seating for a larger party. Awesome burgers The Chicken is my favourite. What absolutely makes this place deserves 5 stars, is the owner. He is the friendlies and knows me and my BF have become regulars - and remembers our orders. And gives us free chipotle mayo sometimes. I've never even been disappointed here. Why do most of the workers who work at the Main Street location smoke? What a turn off to see them smoking in the alley? Lame. What a turn off. They make a great turkey burger, but, you really have to make sure they wash their hands before they cook for you. And why has the men's bathroom been broken for so long? It's way better than the Davie street location. Not sure why but it seems like the staff here on Main is friendlier. Lots of fries this time with my burger and the guy working there told me there was a daily burger deal. Got the Bacon Cheeseburger meal with fries and a drink. The burger was big and it barely fits inside my mouth. Messy but that is how I like it! Luckily there was lots of napkins otherwise I would have sauce all over my mouth and chin! read more

Another burger joint on Main St which is a local chain. They serve really good burgers and even better milkshakes as reasonable prices.You also get to choose your condiments. My order was taken and prepared by a crew of teenagers who didn't seem to have been properly trained. The customer service was poor, they got my order wrong (didn't put cheese that I paid for on the burger and wrong flavour shake) and didn't offer to fix it, rolled her eyes when I insisted (it was close to closing time) and made it quite clear they thought I was the jerk as they slapped my completed order down on the counter. Went to Vera's for a Friday lunch. The daily specail for Friday is basically any special burger for the week. Both my co-worker and I had the Canuck burger, with bacon and cheddar cheese! We decided on different toppings, but all so good. We will definitely come back again. read more

I got the G-Money... cheddar, mushrooms, double patty. It was huge (glad I didn't get fries) and full of flavor. It was pretty pricey, and it left a pretty potent lingering taste, but all in all a damn good burger served by friendly people! Nice size patties, lotsa condiments, pickles, peppers etc. I had the BBQ burger today and it was a big ol' tasty mess. Really no complaints. I can't say it was the best burger I've had (it wasn't), the place was packed so it was a little slow (no big deal) and the price was a little steep. So I can't give it a 5 star, but I'd stop by again in a pinch. read more

I'll admit it's hard to win me over when it comes to burgers. I moved out here in February from Ontario and I'm quite picky about my "usual" places. Whenever I feel a little homesick I head down to Vera's and grab a burger. I highly recommend the Stinger or the Ringo Starr. The staff are very friendly and Anthony always ask how everything is to make sure I'm enjoying myself. The tv's usually have sports on so there's something entertaining to watch while downing your comfort food. Very reasonably priced. Give this location a try if you haven't already I promise you won't regret it! read more
